 Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable Ollie had been telling her all about this Leo guys house for ages. Apparently he had an awesome bar in the living room, fully stocked with all kinds of tasty treats, and she was really hoping the pool was as amazing as Ollie made it out to be because she had on a bikini underneath her dress and she wanted to use it. She'd ditched heels for the occasion, opting for comfy flip flops which would probably get kicked off about ten minutes after they arrived. Her fingers were twined tightly with Ollie's as they apparated to a stunning lake house. "Whoa, I didn't think you meant an actual lake, I thought it'd be like, a pond or something," Echo said, eyes roving the scenery around the gorgeous house. "I wouldn't mind living in a place like this," she mused, wondering if she'd ever earn enough money to be able to buy a massive house outright. That'd be the dream. And a dog, of course. London was standing in the drive with a tall blonde girl and Lunete Dearborn, Ollie's ex, and actually a really nice person. "Lunete, hi!" Echo gave her an excited wave, and grinned at Lo and the blonde while Ollie asked if everyone was there yet. She had no idea who else they were waiting on, or how many people Lola had actually invited, but the more the merrier as far as Echo was concerned. There was an older bloke standing a little way away and Echo watched him curiously for a second as he stood there looking like a spare part. He obviously wasn't one of their group but why was he just standing there on his own? Strange.  Why can't we see that when we bleed we bleed the same A barbeque at a lake house sounded like just what the vet ordered. Johnny was tired. He was working his arse off, and he loved his job, but the hours were exhausting. Add to that trying to cope with being heckled in the street, his muggle friends suddenly being too scared to hang out with him, and his life just generally being in danger, and things were pretty sucky as of late. He needed to unwind, and Lola had promised him that this barbeque would be a safe place, somewhere he wouldn't have to worry. Johnny was no shitbag, he wasn't scared to walk down the street, but considering whole muggleborn families were being hidden away, he found himself being extra cautious. He trusted Lola, and held on to his hat as he whooshed to the address she'd given him, nearly crashing into Ollie and Echo. "Oof. Failed the landing. Apologies," he said, patting the pair on the back. He had been friends with Ollie since school, and Echo had also become a friend in recent times. The sight of them put him at ease immediately. Then he spotted Lunete and relaxed even more. She, too, was a muggleborn, and branded with a yellow armband to match his. He stood beside her and slung his arm around her shoulder. "Hey, Lu." Johnny tipped his hat to Lola and the blonde girl she was standing with. Lo pulled her in for a quick hug and whispered a thanks to Liv, for being cool enough to go along with today's plans without complaining. Lunete arrived next, full of smiles and compliments, and Lo swished her dress playfully. "I'll be taking it off soon and living in the pool," she said with a giggle. Ollie and Echo weren't far behind Lunete, and Johnny literally stumbled in behind them, asking if they were ready to party. "We are! That's everyone, let's head inside," Lo said, heading for Leo's front door and reaching her hand up to knock. It swung open before she could even reach it and she raised her eyebrows, impressed. "I guess we just make ourselves at home, then," she said, stepping through the doorway and wondering where to go first. There were people in the kitchen, and more outside.  And the world was a song and the song was exciting One of the muggleborns was the first to arrive, and Liv tried to make her smile look natural as the girl approached and introduced herself. "I'm Liv," she said, trying not to look at the yellow band on Lunete's arm. Instead she looked at Lola and nudged her with one hip. "I know, she makes me feel horribly underdressed." Liv ran a hand over her tight leggings, which, while summery and bright, were no match for Lola's dress. She looked cute, but she wished she'd gone for something nicer. The others arrived shortly after, and Liv was pleased to see Ollie Devereaux. At least he was someone she counted as a friend, two out of five wasn't bad. Okay, it was, but she didn't know Echo, and Johnny, whilst absolutely gorgeous, was also sporting a neon armband of shame, and Liv just couldn't force herself to be open to making friends like that. She hadn't been raised that way. She stuck by Lola's side as they entered the house, and ran her hand over a fancy vase near the front door. No dust.  Stay out, and we'll live forever now Chloe and Liam Underwood were one of the first to arrive, and Leo gave them both quick hugs, taking a bag of goodies from Chloe. "So it's up to me if I want to share this or not?" he asked, returning her eyebrow wiggle. He was glad to see the couple make it to one of his barbeques at last, they were usually too busy to attend. Liam offered to help out, which Leo was grateful for, it would take the pressure off Doc, who had manned the barbeque alone last year after Jasper's disaster. A hulking mass of a man approached them, and if he hadn't been a big Quidditch fan, Leo would have thought someone had broken into his house to kill them all, but he'd recognise Kal Sullivan anywhere. "Heyyy, Kiki's brother," he said with a grin, shaking the man's hand and refraining from outing him as a famous sports star. "Welcome, man, make yourself at home." He glanced after Chloe as she excused herself to go and find Kiki, and spotted Lola James and a huge posse of friends standing just inside the front door. Shaking his head with a chuckle, he just hoped they stayed away from the kitchen, where Dorian was hiding out like a hermit with a chopping board. "Shall we serve up some burgers, then?" What pavlova had to do with barbeques, Killian would never know, but he settled for curling his lip and gazing out at that pool again while Halley rearranged this Leo guys fridge. An older man walked in looking busy, or pretending to look busy, or maybe that was just his face. Either way, Killian flashed him a warm smile. "Hey, Killian Vaile," he greeted the man. "Just wondering, is there going to be music at this thing?" So far nobody seemed to have thought the guests might like something to listen to. All Killian could hear was the sounds of more guests arriving and chatting away to each other, and that was not his idea of a good time. She slipped behind it and began to examine the bottles on the shelves, looking for the good stuff. She settled on her favourite wine and poured a whiskey for Sully, glancing up at the sound of heels clicking in the doorway. "Chlo! Come and get some drinks!" She beamed at her co-worker, and wiggled her glass of wine at the redhead. Chloe was a ball of fun and Kiki loved seeing her at work, but seeing her in a party setting was even better.  Dark shines, bringing me down making my heart feel sore Sully settled himself in a chair beside the pool while Leo and Liam got to dishing out burgers. He was tempted to go and find Kiki with those drinks, but he'd only end up wandering around the place looking like he didn't belong, and that would just make him feel shit. He didn't really know anyone here, so staying by the host was his best bet for now, until more guests arrived, anyway. The sun shone down on his face, reminding him of home. Back in Hawaii, Sully would spend hours on the beach, swimming in the sea with the kids, laying in the sand, building huts for Shay and Naia to hide in. He'd rather be there than anywhere else, but he'd settle for a chilled afternoon with good people.  You're my downfall, you're my muse my worst distraction, my rhythm and blues Chloe excused herself to go off in search of Kiki Sullivan, leaving Liam alone with Leo and Sully the giant. He draped his jacket over a chair and got to work flipping burgers and dropping them onto a plate of buns that had been put on a table to one side. It was quite relaxing, chatting with Leo and soaking up the sun, though he wished he'd worn shorts instead, between the heat from the sun and the smoke from the barbeque, he was sweating after five minutes. "Do you want two?" he called to Sully, who had asked for a burger. The guy would inhale one burger like a crumb.  A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now A barbeque sounded fun! Geralina was surprised when Jasper had asked her to go with him, but she'd agreed straight away. Usually she'd give a maybe and then think about it for a few days before talking herself out of it, but she knew Jasper would never ask her to go anywhere she would feel awkward. Still, she tried on five different dresses before settling on one. A white one with pink flowers that was a little bit frilly, and possibly too much for a simple barbeque. "Hang on," she muttered to Pippa, who was laying on the bed, watching with curious brown eyes. Another glance in the mirror, and she'd decided it was too much. Changing to a simpler blue dress, still with a flowery pattern, she gave an uncertain nod to her reflection, and then forced herself to leave her bedroom before she changed her mind again. It was just a barbeque, nothing fancy, nothing to be nervous about. She knew Freya and Gabe were going, too, so she had other people there to talk to if Jasper wanted to mingle without her. And Dorian was going. That was plenty of people in her comfort zone. But was she showing too much leg? The blue dress was pretty short. No. No. It was fine. She was going to be late. Giving each of her pets a kiss on the head, she promised not to be back too late, and headed out the door for the address Jasper had told her to meet him at. "Leo Zabini, Leo Zabini," she whispered under her breath, focusing on the address as she disapparated. She found herself at the end of a long drive in front of a huge manor in the Lake District. And there was Jasper, standing alone. Oops. She trotted over to him. "Am I late? One after the other they all arrived, and some guy that stood on his lonesome. Lunete felt a pang of pity for him but it was soon gone when a loud pop made her jump and Johnny nearly landed on the backs of Echo and Ollie. Lunete let out a somewhat nervous chuckle before taking a deep breath, apparently she was a little more on edge than even she had realised, but never mind, Johnny was at her side, getting very friendly, "Hey Jon-Jon." She smiled, a little relieved that she wasn't the only muggleborn there, and at least she kind of knew Johnny through her brother, although how Doc knew him was never actually made clear to Lunete, but they seemed kind of close and Doc seemed to trust the guy so that was good enough for Lunete. "I didn't put on these party feet for nothin'." She grinned, clicking her heels together.
Lunete followed the crowd in and looked around the amazing entry, holy crap, it felt so fresh! She came from a pretty large home, but it was definitely more country than this. She took in the appearance of the place for just a second and then linked her arm with Lola, "Come on," She said, "I can smell food and I skipped breakfast this morning." She said, leading her forward to the back of the house where she was momentarily blinded by the sun reflecting off the pool, and then her heart sank. "That - holy mother forking - Lo! Lo!" She said, turning to Lola, "That's Kalino Sullivan!" She whispered in hushed excitement, "Beater for the Falmouth Falcons!" Merlin's sparkling testicles! Lunete couldn't believe that she was in the presence of a Quidditch legend.

Chloe stepped inside and she wasn't searching long for Kiki, the babe of the longest legs looked up from behind the bar, "You look far too comfortable behind a bar." She teased, "How's my favourite knockout doing?" She asked, stepping behind the bar. Chlo had a look at the alcohol and spotted the whiskey, "Don't mind if I do!" She said, looking about the bar and getting some glass and popping a couple of cubes of ice into it. She'd just grab a beer or something easy for Liam, she wasn't up for making a cocktail yet, but given a few more drinks and she might just try her old concoctions, and the bar dance that went with them.

Ollie followed the group into the massive home, fingers interlaced with Echo’s. He thought it was pretty classy that the door opened itself up when they’d approached. No need for running back and forth to let people in or being stuffy enough to have servants answer the door for you. That would have made Ollie uncomfortable. Was he impressed by this last year as well? He couldn’t remember, but assumed he probably was.
Lunete took the lead once they were inside, and she must have known how offended Ollie would be at her announcement, though perhaps she wasn’t expecting Ollie to be able to hear her quite so easily. “Skipped breakfast?! What sort of a nutter would skip a meal?” he asked obnoxiously as they filed out to the yard and were momentarily blinded by the sun. The food did smell delicious, he could smell it from the moment they apparated, and his mouth was beginning to water. “You want a burger or anything?” he asked Echo, knowing she most likely shared his opinion that anyone forgoing a meal was off their rocker. He continued walking as Lunete and London stopped to gawk at his quidditch mate. “Oh please, you’ve got the two best quidditch stars right here,” he said, gesturing between himself and Echo as they passed. “This one,” he said thumbing at Lunete and giving Echo a humorous eyeroll before his thoughts quickly shifted back to food. “I hope they have potato salad.”

Parties weren’t his thing, but Leo was his best mate and had a way of guilting Dorian into attending every year despite his reluctance. He had hoped to have crafted a perfect plan this year, hide out in the kitchen being useful and then head out early without having to socialize with too many people. In fairness, he hadn’t actually expected his little plan to work, but was hoping he could at least get away with chatting to only the people he knew. He trusted Leo, but he couldn’t trust all the plus ones Leo was allowing into his home, and in the middle of such chaos as the world was in right now, a party did not seem like the smartest of ideas.
He was just returning to the kitchen from dropping off a tray of toppings, hoping the couple who had come in as he left would have cleared out by now, but upon his return he was greeted by the boyfriend while the girlfriend seemed to be completely rearranging Leo’s refrigerator. “Dorian Humbert. Nice to meet you,” he said, flashing his own polite smile. “The stereo is in the living room, right through there.” Dorian pointed the man in the direction of the living room, expecting that to be the end of it. “To the left of the bar.”

The kids near him all seemed to have arrived, Jasper deduced as they started their way towards Leo’s front door. He wasn’t used to Geralina being late, she was usually so punctual and for a moment he wondered if he was supposed to have met her at her home or perhaps she had stood him up, not that it was a date or anything, but it was possible, he supposed. The familiar cracking sound of someone apparating caught his attention. He turned to see Geralina and he was relieved that she had decided to come, although his mouth suddenly felt extremely dry as he looked at her. That was an incredible amount of leg she was showing but Jasper was confident enough he could hold himself together and not turn into a blob. “Nah, you’re fine,” He said, hoping to reassure her as they walked to the front door of Leo’s home. “I only got here a couple of minutes ago.” He had been there a little longer than that, but it was okay, people were still arriving and would continue to do so for a while, he expected. “Your dress looks good.” He complimented as he got to the door. He wasn’t quite sure what compliments would be appropriate, but ‘good’ seemed like a pretty neutral, positive term that didn’t scream ‘I love you and want to sweep you off your feet’, so that was … good.
The front door swung open and Jasper let Geralina step in first then followed. Once they were both in the door shut behind him and he took the lead, heading through to the back where a whole group of people seemed to have gathered. It seemed bigger than last year, but then Jasper had been out of commission pretty early on last year. “Can I get you a drink or something to eat?” He asked Geralina, hoping she’d be okay with all these unfamiliar faces around.
