Ollie held back his laughter. “I know, Sera is really a pain sometimes,” he replied, as if that remark hadn’t been firmly pointed in his direction. Generally the brothers got on well, all his siblings did really, but living together was bound to cause some friction now and again. Ollie knew Kit loved him and if he was ever really, truly fed up with his little brother living with him, he knew Kit would figure out a way to tell him. And Ollie would probably only drag his feet a little when it came to moving out because he really did like living with his brother and if he was slow about it he’d have the extra bonus of annoying his big brother one last time as flat mates. Ollie hoped it wouldn’t come to that anytime soon.

Hands clean and dried Ollie returned to the table, smiling at the piles of food as Echo sat beside him. “Why’s my shampoo smell better on you than me?” he asked, plopping some food on the plate in front of her as an answer to her question.

Ollie laughed. “Yeah, uncle Ferdi would love that,” he chuckled, shaking his head. "You got any plans later? I was gonna take Echo to the movies. I could see if she wanted to bring along one of her sisters for ya.” Donny didn’t really need any help with the ladies, but Ollie liked hanging out with his cousin and wanted to invite him along without making him feel like a third wheel.

It had gone 3am and still Dora wasn’t home. It wasn’t of much concern, as she had been known to stay out until morning a time or two, but Pansy had woken up in the middle of the night calling for her mummy and was instead greeted by Ollie who’d been sleeping in the spare room across the hall. “Mummy will be back soon,” he said as he rocked the babe and gave her a bottle. It took nearly 20 minutes to get her to fall asleep enough to set her back into her cot without waking her up again, then Ollie went to Dora’s room to check that she hadn’t come home and somehow made such little noise not to wake the half-vampire. There was no answer at her door and he peeked inside. She wasn’t in her bed. He headed downstairs, thinking she might have fallen asleep at the breakfast table trying to make herself another drink, but she was nowhere to be found. She was having a late night, which meant Ollie would be too. He sighed and sat on the sofa flicking through one of Dora’s novels until he fell back asleep.

Sunlight peeking through the crack in the curtains woke him first, then the sounds of Pansy fussing upstairs. He stretched and yawned as he rose from the sofa and called for Dora. She had to have been home now, surely she had heard the baby crying. The only answer came from Pansy who wailed uninterrupted, summoning Ollie with vampiric speed. “It’s okay, sweetie pie. Mummy’s just...” He had no idea where Dora might have ended up last night, he had never known her to stay out past sunrise while he was watching Pansy and instead of lying to the little girl he simply changed the subject. “Let’s get you a clean nappy and then we’ll look at breakfast. That’d be good, eh?”

Baby changed, fed, and dressed for the day and there was still no sign of Dora. Ollie had even checked the back garden in case she’d locked herself out and had to sleep in the porch swing but all he found were some unkempt rose bushes and two fluffy bunnies which Mimi happily chased off into the wood behind the house. Ollie was worried now, and he did the first thing he always did whenever he got worried. He called Kit. Scribbling a note to his brother on a scratch of parchment he found in Dora’s kitchen.

Need your help. Probably overreacting but come to Dora’s anyway. Hurry.

Ollie held the message up and watched as it burst into flames, leaving no sign of ash anywhere to be found. “Who wants to read a story?” he said, turning toward Pansy who was pulling herself up to a chair and cruising along the seat before falling onto her bum and looking dumbfounded.

Echo struggled to break free from his grip, intent of paying Dora back for everything that had happened in the last matter of 2 minutes, but Ollie kept her easily in place, exerting very little energy despite his strong hold on her. “Calm down,” he suggested, as if telling a woman to calm down had ever, in the history of everything, worked to calm her down. “She’s drunk. Be the bigger person, just ignore her.” He wasn’t making excuses for Dora’s behavior but he didn’t care about her right now. He only cared about Echo, and diving into the pool to continue a drunken brawl was not in anyone’s best interest. Especially Dora’s, since Ollie was pretty certain Echo could kick her arse. Lunete brought over a towel and with his free arm (needing one firmly around Echo to keep her from leaping back into the water for round two), he draped it around Echo’s shoulders. Dora’s taunting floated across the pool. “It’s over, Dora. Knock it off.” They both just needed to cool down.

"Maybe if I asked them to...” he chuckled, promptly swirling his tongue around his melting cone after it began dripping onto his hand. “Or maybe I’ll just get an ice cream flavor in my honor... now who do I know in the ice cream business who could make that happen?” he asked facetiously. He probably had a few teammates who would like that little perk, but Ollie wasn’t at all being serious. He already got free ice cream most anytime he wanted, he didn’t need to go around blowing up his ego by eating his own flavor. Besides, he didn't like nuts in ice cream, and if there were ever an Oliver Devereaux flavor it was bound to have nuts in it.
