 Stay out, and we'll live forever now It was that time of year again. Oh, no, wait... it wasn't. That time of year was a whole month ago, and now it was almost June, which was horribly late for Leo's annual Easter barbeque, but he was determined to still have it. He needed that time with all of his friends in one place, laughing, drinking, not a care in the world. No kids, no annoying sisters, no worries. The last day of May had been the soonest he could schedule in a party. The world seemed more chaotic than usual, and he'd been a lot busier at the hospital recently, as had all of his friends who worked there. He hoped that they could all take this Sunday to wind down and relax. He wouldn't have it any other way. The barbeque was all set up out by the pool, the sun was shining hotter than it usually did, thanks to it being almost summer, and Leo already had a cool bottle of beer in his hand as he waited for his first guests to arrive. It was late morning, coming up to the hottest part of the day, and he'd ditched his usual classy jumper for a t-shirt and jeans, needing to stay cool and calm, the perfect host. Leo had gone out of his way to not set Jasper up with any single women this year, last year had turned out disastrously, and he wanted to avoid spoiling Jasper's fun. But he had also invited a - hopefully - single woman for himself today. "I just don't like being late!" She said, despite Killy's protests that they were too early and they would definitely be the first ones there. Halley hated being late, she'd much rather be the first ones there than show up when everyone else had already settled in. "Come on!" She said, ushering Killy out the door of her apartment, "Oh! Wait there!" She said, rushing back inside and grabbing a large container, pushing it into Killy's arms before she rushed back in and came back out with a large bag. "Okay!" She grinned, shutting the door behind them before she shooed Killy down the stairs and to the back alley of Diagon Alley where she could hear the busy Sunday crowds enjoying themselves in the most magical alley in all of Britain, or at least she assumed they were enjoying themselves, who couldn't enjoy themselves on such a perfect day!
Once they were in the back alley behind Madam Milkins, where Halley's flat happened to be, Halley linked her arm with Killy and pulled out her wand. "Ready?" She asked but she didn't wait for an answer, she disapparated them to Leo's, managing to land upright but she let go of Killy the second they arrived or she would have toppled the both of them over. "Lovely!" She said cheerily, smoothing out her dress and walking up to Leo's front door. She went to give it a knock but the door opened and she looked at Killy, pulling a face to suggest she was actually a little impressed, "Helloo!" She called all poshly, walking in. "Don't drop that," She said to Killy, although it probably should have been said before she apparated him away, but it didn't really matter, the container was magical and kept the food safe, regardless of what it went through, "We're looking for either Leo or the kitchen." She said to Killy.

It was nice to be headlining out. Summer was nearly upon them and Chloe felt as though she hadn't been to a barbecue in actual years. It seemed that anytime someone even thought of starting up a barbecue, the rain would start lashing down, but not today, today Leo had perfect weather to host his little get together and Choose was excited to have a few days off, it meant that she could have a few drinks and she didn't have to worry about being on call or having to get up for work. It was wonderful.
The moment she and Liam arrived out the front of Leo's home, Chloe could smell the unmistakeable scent of hot charcoal wafting by on the warm breeze. "We're gonna have a blast," She grinned at Liam, holding up the bag she'd brought along. There was no going along to a party without bringing a little booze to help the fun get started, today's selection was a pretty decent rum that she'd enjoyed countless times and, if push came to shove, she knew how to make up a few killer cocktails with. And on standby, should it be needed, she had mixers, garnishes and ice.
Chloe headed to the front door and watched it open for her and Liam. She stepped inside and followed the flow of the house towards a receiving like area that all looked very fancy, while she spotted another pair veer off to towards what Chloe assumed was the kitchen, it just made sense. She, on the other hand, headed out the back door, her eyes passing over the pool and settling on Leo, looking very relaxed with his beer in hand. "Heeeey!" She grinned, heading over and giving him a peck on the cheek, "For you, or the party, or whatever." She grinned, wiggling her eyebrows a little before looking about, "Your place looks, amazing." She said in awe, her eyes once again fell on the pool. She would definitely be bombing into that later.

 I will be chasing the starlight until the end of my life She was ready, and then she wasn't, and then she shoved an awkward container with Merlin knew what inside on him, and Killian gripped onto it like his life depended on it. Then she had the cheek to ask him if he was ready, and Killian could only roll his eyes, shake his head, and follow her lead. She managed to apparate them both to this Leo guys house without splinching either of them, which he was impressed with, and then he just stood there in front of a pretty nice lake house, wondering what the hell he was actually holding on to. "I don't drop things. I play Quidditch. What is it?" he snipped as Halley approached the front door, which swung open magically for her. He followed her inside, glancing this way and that for signs of a kitchen. "Errr, I guess we go this way," he said, heading towards a fancy looking dining table, which had a door on the other side of it. Sure enough the door led to the kitchen, and he dumped - carefully - the container onto the nearest counter.  You're my downfall, you're my muse my worst distraction, my rhythm and blues The sun was beating down, it was the hottest part of the day as Liam and Chloe arrived at Leo's house. He shrugged off his jacket and slung it over his shoulder, suddenly thirsty enough to raid that bag of drink that Chloe had insisted they bring along. He was glad that she had sorted out that side of things because if it had been up to Liam he would have brought a first aid kit, because Leo had told him a few stories about last year's barbeque which had him concerned. This year would go off without a hitch, though. Liam was finally off work and able to make it, and it was going to be a blast, just like his beautiful wife had said. They headed inside and found Leo out by the pool, which was glittering in the sunlight, though Liam couldn't help but stare out at the stunning lakes beyond the house and wonder if swimming in those would be more enjoyable. He gave Leo a quick one armed hug and then slipped his arm around Chloe's waist. "We finally made it," he told Leo.  Let me stay where the wind will whisper to me Kiki looped her arm through her brother's as they apparated to Leo's house. His barbeques were one of her favourite things, but she'd never taken one of her siblings along before, and after taking one look at her rather famous brother with his rather famous biceps on full display, she was wondering if she should have invited Nala instead. Sully was excited to go with her, though, so she couldn't very well change her mind now, could she. Besides, it would be good to spend a bit of time with him without having swooning girls interrupting them every five minutes. "You could have put a jacket on," she mumbled as they popped onto Leo's drive. Approaching the door together, it swung open to let them in, and Kiki let go of her brother. "I'll get drinks.  Dark shines, bringing me down making my heart feel sore A barbeque at a Healer's house. What could go wrong? Sully liked private gatherings like this one, he got less hassle and he could relax and have fun without fear of seeing his picture in the newspapers the next morning. He had been promised a pool, cool people, alcohol, and great food, and that was all he needed to sign up for Kiki's little party day. Nala was minding Shay and Naia for the day, and he had nothing to worry about other than the grumblings of his eldest sister, who was adamant that he should have covered up more. Sully thought he was covered up too much for a pool party type thing but he said nothing about it as they headed out. The Healer's place was nice, the guy definitely looked after the place. Kiki ditched him immediately to get drinks, and Sully followed his nose to the scent of the barbeque, which was outside by a gorgeous pool. There were only a few other people there so far, all of them strangers to Sully. He approached the small group confidently. "Hey, you must be Leo," he said, reaching out a hand for the Healer to shake. "I'm Sully, Kiki's brother." He nodded to the redhead and the blonde guy next to her. "Hi. Hey.  But maybe you're hoping for a fairytale, too Leo's barbeque was always one of Lo's favourite events of the year. It was about a month late this year, but that just meant that the weather was nicer, and she could spend more time in a bikini in the pool, rather than getting out shivering after half an hour because of that pesky Easter chill that liked to spoil everyone's fun. If today went well she'd strongly suggest, persuade, and try to charm Leo into making it a summer thing every year instead. Her invite usually said plus one, but this year Leo had cottoned on to the fact that she always struggled to choose just one friend to bring. Last year she had taken Ollie and Dora with her, but Dora had her own invite this year so she had some big shoes to fill. Echo would be going, obviously, and Lola had asked Liv, Lunete, and Johnny to tag along. Kind of controversial because she was mixing blood groups, which was always a problem for her since she liked to dance between worlds, but Liv was the only one who would have a problem with Lunete and Johnny being there with their yellow bands, and Liv was cool enough to not mention it. Everything would be fine. She tried on at least ten different outfits before deciding on a floral dress with a split up the front, which would help if she wanted to get out of it quickly and into the pool. One tug and it would be off. Perfect. Her hair was left down, simple and low maintenance, and she'd given the others Leo's address so that they could all meet there. She was running right on time, but paused by her dresser to grab the bright yellow bracelet that she had bought specifically for today. If Johnny and Lunete had to wear armbands, she could show a bit of solidarity with a matching bracelet.  And the world was a song and the song was exciting A barbeque with two muggleborns in her group was not her idea of the perfect day out, but she had promised Lola she would go ages ago, and Liv hated to break promises. She could keep her mouth shut and get through it without any dramas, she was sure she could, but she didn't like it. It would be uncomfortable and awkward, and she had no idea what Lo was thinking inviting her 'other' friends, but she couldn't do much about her friends radical tendencies. All she could do was hope that Dora needed some company when they got to this Leo guys house and spend time with her instead. Putting her best smile in place, Livia checked the address one last time and popped her way right there. She was used to travelling to new places for work, but it was nice to be greeted with a lovely home in the Lake District for a change, and she pulled down her sunglasses to block out the sun as she stared up at the house. "Nice place," she said, skipping over to Lo, who was waiting on the drive. "Am I the first here? Has the apocalypse started?" Liv looked around incredulously. None of the others in their group were in sight. Lunete wasn't big on mixing with people she didn't know too well these days. There were a lot of prejudices going on and she'd even had to leave her job at the Ministry because of it. Luckily Doc had gotten word of what was going on and he'd resigned immediately and told her to do the same thing. Lunete trusted her brother and, well, it had paid off. Not long after that she'd joined the Order of the Phoenix and she became closer with her brother. She'd always been the baby of the family, the one her brothers all liked to look out for, but now that she was technically qualified as an Auror, even if she didn't work at the ministry, and she was part of the Order, Lunete had confidence in her own abilities to handle whatever might come her way. Life was toughening her up and she was stepping up to its challenges.
Lola had been one of the midi-witches on the scene after her brother had been killed. It was an odd way to form a friendship, sure, but once Lunete knew that Lola knew Ollie, their friendship really kicked off. Ollie was like that, he brought people together without even having to be involved much at all. Lunete would always have a soft spot for him, nothing romantic, they'd tried that and they were just better off as friends, but life was definitely richer with him in it, and Kit of course, although Lunete wasn't sure if Kit was invited to this thing or not, at least Ollie would be there.
Apparating in front of a huge lake house, Lunete was a little surprised, she hadn't expected such a lavish home, but she was excited to be there. She stepped the few paces over to where Lola was standing with another of her friends, and waved at the pair, "Hey!" She beamed, kind of excited to be there now, "Gorgeous dress," She said, kind of stunned at how beautiful Lola was looking, "I feel kind of underdressed now," She chuckled, and then looked to Lola's other friend, "Hi! I'm Lunete, friend of Lola's," she said, smiling, hoping this wasn't some snooty cow that was going to sneer at the bright yellow band around the top of her arm that signified to the world that she was a muggleborn.

It was hard looking casual. Trying to look casual and as though he'd just thrown on a tee shirt was incredibly difficult. Every time he changed his shirt, Jasper just knew he had probably swapped his outfit more than any woman in the entirety of existence. Was this what it was like a being a woman? Usually Jasper was happy to throw on a nice suit, or just a casual button up shirt, but for some ridiculous, insane reason, he had kept out of his comfort zone and had asked Geralina if she'd go to Leo's barbecue with him. It wasn't like this was a date, or anything, they were just friends and he was more than certain that Geralina saw it that way too, but having the hugest crush on one of his closest friends was an incredibly difficult line to walk, and to add to it all, he was now unsure of what in the hell to wear. Why did this have to be so difficult? It didn't matter, a quick look at his watch told him that he was going to be running late if he didn't get his arse into gear, so he left as quickly as possible, without breaking into a run, and disapparated to Leo's. He saw little huddle of girls and noticed Lola in the middle. He smiled and shoved his hands into his pockets, waiting for Geralina, wishing that he'd brought Dorcas, at least then he wouldn't be so nervous.

Halley shh'ed Killian as they made their way through the dining room and to the kitchen. It didn't matter whose house she was in, Halley always made herself at home in their kitchen. A kitchen was the heart of every home and Halley always gave it love, right after she stuffed it with things she brought from home. "Let me just make room in the fridge," She mumbled to herself, "Oh," She finally realised Killian had asked a few questions, "Pavlova, and yes, big ol' pool out back." She waved a hand, "Go dive in, Leo won't mind." Leo was awesome, he was laid back and wouldn't mind if a bloke he'd never seen before just bombed into his beautiful pool, or so Halley assumed based on the fact that nothing ever seemed to faze Leo. Halley pulled out box after book and carefully put them in the fridge, making sure to leave room for the homemade pavlova she'd made.

"Liam's great with a barbecue," Chlo said without even thinking that she might be sounding boastful of her husband's talents with fire and meat, "Seriously, if you need any help, he's your man," She said proudly, giving her husband a kiss on the cheek. He was marvellous but overshadowed, literally, by a giant, or someone that had to be half-giant, who introduced himself as Sully, Kiki's brother. "Hey, I'm Chloe," she gave a small wave to the Sully bloke who looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't peg why. He was the type of guy she'd hit on in a. club or bar, but she was fairly certain that wasn't where she knew him from, or at least she hoped not. "If Kiki's here, I'm going to go say hi!" She smiled and gave Liam a wink, "I'll leave you fellas to the cooking." she grinned, setting off to find Kiki.

Of the group Lo had patched together for the day, Ollie was the only BBQ veteran. Or, at least veteran for this particular BBQ. She’d brought him along last year, along with Dora who’d been invited properly this year, so he felt fairly confident this time around that he wouldn’t be underdressed again. He knew the lay of the land as well as any of them, but he wasn’t really the sort to get too bogged down in feeling out of place. That was probably because he nearly always felt a little awkward for one reason or another, especially around attractive ladies such as the ones London had invited as her plus ones. The prettiest of them all, however, was his own girlfriend, whom he’d picked up before apparating to Lo’s healer friend’s home. “Massive pool,” Ollie explained to Echo, describing what he remembered of the BBQ the year prior. “Right on a sodding lake. Who needs a pool and a lake?! Not that I’m complaining, mind you.” London and the rest of the group had gathered on the front drive. “Hey,” Ollie shouted at them, raising his arm and giving a big wave. “I was just telling Echo how massive this place is.” He looked around at the other ladies, then at Echo, then London. “We waiting for anyone else?”

 Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere
Dorian had arrived early and offered to help out with some of the barbecue prep, so while others were arriving and socializing, Dorian was happily by himself in the kitchen, slicing tomatoes and onions for the platter of burger toppings he was working on. A couple entered just as Dorian slipped out to deliver the burger fixings, to the rest of the party, then headed back inside to work on whatever else he could find to keep himself busy.
