PERSONALITY Boggart: Losing her mother (or any of her family, for that matter, since the death of her father). So, I guess she would see her mum's dead body? Mirror of Erised: Echo would see herself successful in life without the help of anyone. She would see herself standing on her own two feet and happy with her life, completely independent, though there would be that special someone in the background, but he would be there for quiet support, not taking the lead and dominating her, letting her shine in her own right. She would have her own little house, and maybe even a family of her own, and the dog she has always wanted. Simple things. Just an overall sense of accomplishment with herself. A sense of "Look at me standing on my own two feet." Patronus: Rhino - Echo's happiest memories are special occasions with her dad. Christmas Eve when she was six years old, his face breaking into a defeated smirk as she pulled his fake Santa beard off, exposing him as a fraud and making him laugh his infectious laugh. Her 11th birthday - they celebrated a few days early because she would be starting her first year at Hogwarts, and he had taken her shopping for her school supplies, just the two of them, and they had shared the biggest ice cream sundae Echo had ever seen. Giggling hysterically as her dad chased his three girls around the garden on Halloween, dressed as a skeleton to scare them. Her father's smile is Echo's happy memory, one that she clings to every day to stay sane. Echo has always been a strong-minded girl. She knows what she wants and takes no nonsense from people, but at the same time, she's one of the kindest girls you'll meet. She has a heart of gold and is loyal to a fault, she's not afraid to stand up for herself or her family and friends, even if it means getting into fights to prove her point. She is literally the type of friend who will punch someone in the face for you, then sit and cheer you up with cake. She's not shy, though far from a loud mouth, she can easily talk to anyone, though if they annoy her or are blatantly just horrible people she won't give them the time of day. I suppose she was sorted into Hufflepuff because of that fiercely loyal quality, she will fight for the underdog and has an innate sense of doing the right thing, she will always do what's fair and good, though there are people out there who will see her as a bit of a tough nut because they've got on the wrong side of her. She's not a straight 'O' student like a Ravenclaw, and has to work hard to get decent grades in her classes, but she's willing to put the effort in to get the results she needs/wants. She's not as gung-ho as a Gryffindor, and will usually hang back before jumping into something reckless, though she will join in with most fun situations if it doesn't seem overly stupid.(She's not scared of the odd detention or two). She's not sly as a Slytherin, scary as she can be at times, she only goes for the jugular for honourable reasons, and is too honest for her own good. Overall, Echo is a lovely girl, the type of friend you want by your side in a sticky situation or for a bit of fun. She's trustworthy, a real tough cookie, and quite funny when she wants to be. She's very accepting of people, and tries to see the good in others, but she doesn't have the patience of a saint, and sometimes her reactions to people are too honest, but she never means anything bad by it. She loves her family more than anything, and can often be found hanging out with cats around the castle, since she's not allowed any pets of her own (her sister is allergic) and adores animals. She makes a great leader, bakes a mean chocolate cookie, and though she appears to be a bit of a tomboy she actually enjoys being girly in the secrecy of her dorm room with her friends! HISTORY Mother: Callysto Everwood, Magi-zoologist, 44, Ravenclaw Alumni Father: Ian Everwood, Muggle zoologist, deceased 4 years ago aged 43 Siblings: Aeon Everwood, sister, 21, Ravenclaw Alumni Nova Everwood, sister, 19, Slytherin Alumni Partners: None. Others: None. Echo Everwood was the youngest daughter of Ian and Callysto Everwood, a normal, loving family who lived in a nice area of Manchester, in a home that they both worked hard to care for. Out of the three Everwood sisters, Echo was born last and had no name for a month after her birth, since her parents couldn't decide what suited her best. Eventually, her father chose the name Echo, because she looked like a mini version of her mother, and so was her mother's "echo". The name Arista was given as a middle name as it was already on their list of favourite names. She always liked having a unique name, since most of her Muggle cousins had very boring names like Jack and Daisy, and her magical family were all a bit stuffy, Montgomery and Arabella. No, Echo was different, and she enjoyed it very much. Not that her personality was anything special. She was just a good girl who loved a lot and was a bit too honest sometimes. Her father used to tell her how wonderful she was every day, and she knew she was loved unconditionally, even if she wasn't the cleverest (Aeon), or the sassiest (Nova). Being Half-blood, she grew up in a normal house that belonged to her father's Muggle family, nothing fancy, just big enough for the family of five, and she spent her time equally on magical and non-magical activities growing up. Her parents were both huge animal lovers, both being Zoologists in their own worlds, and though her eldest sister had allergies to most creatures and they couldn't own any pets, Echo inherited that love of animals, and could often be found in the back garden trying to attract stray cats, or in next door's garden playing with their dogs and guinea pigs. She had a healthy, happy upbringing, and was happy to receive her Hogwarts letter (she's never been the most excitable person on the planet) when she was old enough. She would be with her sisters, and that was just fine with her. When she was thirteen, Echo's life changed forever. The summer holidays came, and only three days had passed when it happened. The family received a phone call from her father's work to say he had been rushed to hospital after a freak accident. He and two of his co-workers were trampled by a rhino, the other two men survived with severe injuries, but Echo's dad died. She always wondered if he had been taken to St. Mungo's instead of a Muggle hospital that he might have survived. She learned to conjure a Patronus a few years later and was shocked to see it take the form of a rhino, but it comforts her in an odd way. Never one to give into sadness for too long, Echo still grieves quietly for her father every day, and promised herself that she would always try to do what would make him proud in life, which is something that gets her through the tougher days. She's now focused on her school life more than ever, and wants to do well for herself, though she's not sure what she wants to do specifically, she knows whatever it is, she will give it her all and show the world what she's made of. In the meantime, sneaking cake out of the kitchens and taking brisk walks through the forbidden forest seem to help a lot with any issues she has. Or, you know, just punch someone in the face. She was made Quidditch Captain for the Hufflepuff team in September, and shines in the role, leading her friends in the game that she considers to be one of her biggest strengths, since she's not too great at her lessons.
