Jasper noticed the guy that was at the barn door hovering about was the same one that had dragged Dora off at Leo’s barbecue. Merlin he hoped there wouldn’t be a repeat of that tonight, but at least this Sully bloke had helped in calming the evening down, so that was at least something. The bloke had to bend down but he made it through and then so did his date for the evening, but Jasper couldn’t go in yet, there were still quite a few people to go and he couldn’t shut the door on them so he stood there, holding the door open with a smile on his face as people passed by until a chap with an American accent offered to take the door from him. Jasper tried to brush it off as no big deal, nearly everyone was through now anyway, but the guy had taken the door and so Jasper had little else to do but go on in, so he did and he scooted around the end of the wall, back practically up against it, waiting for the area to clear so he could decide what he was going to do next.

The party was kind of a dud. It wouldn’t have been so bad if Dora hadn’t shown up and utterly humiliated herself but the thing had only been going for twenty minutes, maybe half-a-hour, and already it had frazzled. The food wasn’t even all cooked up yet. It was a shame that this was what Geralina had to deal with, usually Leo’s get togethers were pretty chilled out. “Definitely.” He said, turning and offering Geralina the right of way towards the door. “Usually it’s not this dramatic, although last year I fell and knocked myself out, so maybe it is.” He chuckled.

Two girls trying to drown one another? What in the name of Merlin for? Jasper furrowed his brow and shook his head, “How utterly ridiculous.” He muttered to Geralina. He’d been young once but he couldn’t recall any of his friends acting like that, although there was a possibility that had Tersha ever been in a pool with a woman she hated, that the crazy brunette would indeed attempt to drown the other person. “Seems to be.” He said with a small shrug. “I really can't tell what's going on.” He half smiled. He’d only met Dorian once Paris had passed, but they’d gotten to know of one another somewhat well in that time but Dorian was quite a withdrawn individual, at least that was the distinct impression Jasper was left with, so really there was no telling how well Jasper knew Dorian.

The whole gang was there, even Dorcas who had said she was too busy, although apparently that meant not too busy to go to the party but too busy to say a proper hello to her friends, even the one that had invited her. Okay, no problem. Jasper had dealt with worse behaviours from her and considering there was nothing on fire, he’d consider this a win.
They all headed into the barn, Leo holding the door for Dora and then following her in. Jasper took over, holding the door for the rest of them all to pass through, but there were more than just his friends about, there were quite a few people, including Kal “Sully” Sullivan, that needed to go in and Jasper very well couldn’t just enter and close the door behind him with people so close, so he did the only thing he could think of; he stood there, holding the door open for everyone else that was on their way whilst sorely wishing he could be at Geralina’s side.

Jasper looked his hand over, it was fine to him, perhaps a little pink but nothing to write home about, but apparently Lola and Dorian seemed to think he’d done something drastic to it. He looked at his hand again, it had barely touched the side of the barbecue, after all he’d only been patting it, but the way they were going on about it you’d have thought he was leaning on the grill, but Jasper could take a hint, or at least sometimes. It seemed to him that they wanted time to actually talk to one another, and if that was the case then he’d happily let them be, he was only offering Dorian a way out if he’d wanted it, he didn’t have to take it, and Jasper was more than happy to return to Geralina, “Well aren’t you two my saviours.” He said, pulling his hand back from a far too overdramatic Lola. “I’ll just get Ger her drink.” He chuckled, his laugh covered by the sounds of all kinds of commotion, but he’d just let people get on with whatever. He moved away from the barbecue and headed for the drinks where he poured himself and Geralina a punch each, giving it a quick taste, and headed back to the tall beauty, kind of wishing the commotion coming from near the pool would die down. “Here,” He said, handing the drink to Geralina, “What’s all the commotion about?” He asked, his brow furrowed with concern.

Another party, another invite extended to Geralina that she took! Jasper was kind of excited that she’d agreed to come with him again, although once more it was not a date. He was far too chicken to ask her on an actual date, and besides, she’d been Tristan’s girlfriend, he still felt as though he couldn’t go there, but they’d have a wonderful night, hopefully better than the barbecue, Jasper appreciated that she stepped outside of her comfort zone for him, though. It was very sweet of her.
Jasper knocked on her door and Geralina appeared, a stunning vision as always and Jasper walked her to the end of her path and into Hogsmeade, chatting about all the things that had happened since they’d last seen one another, talking about their latest books and what they thought this party was going to be like. Jasper called for the Knight Bus as he had no real idea where he was headed beyond an address. When the bus dropped them off, Jasper looked around the field to the small little shed sitting with a rather large party sign. “I guess this is the spot.” He said, butterflies flapping about in his stomach, praying that this was the right place, thankfully he spotted Leo and … Dora? Yes, Dora Parkinson waiting on a bench near by. “Evening.” He said with a smile, hoping that Dora would put a damper on this evening like she had Leo’s party.

Jasper was practically holding his breath as he tried not to make a noise. The tension was like a physical entity between the two and Jasper just wanted to pop to with a knife, or shove Dorian away quickly as though he didn’t exist, just something to relieve this awkward feeling, this elongated pause that was probably only a second but felt like an eternity to Jasper. The only thing that broke some of the tension was Lo’s attention snapped up by a burning burger or six. “Hey kid, I’ve gotcha back.” He said, picking up a pair of long tongs, “You can teach me how to handle this bad boy,” He said, patting the side of the barbecue with his bare hand and instantly regretting it as he yanked his hand with a slight gasp. Fire hot, Jasper. “Barbecue hot.” He told himself, “See, complete novice.”

Jasper was practically holding his breath as he watched Dorian introduce himself to Lola. The realisation clicked in Jasper’s mind just how Lola and Dorian were connected and just how awkward this could be. Jasper’s eyes had widened slightly as Lola introduced herself and a moment hung in the air, “Hey," Jasper said towards Dorian, clearing his throat, "I can take over if you want to say ‘hey’ to Ger and take her some punch, Dor.” Jasper offered, although he wasn’t sure if he was just being a pain in the bum getting himself involved in the middle of this meeting or if he was helping out. It was so hard to tell but he wanted to give Dorian an out if he needed it.

Jasper headed to the punch bowl at the end of the food table, it smelt fruity and not at all alcoholic, but Jasper knew that there was still a chance that someone had dropped a little something, something into it to, well, punch it up a little, "Hey, Lo," He said, calling out to Lola on the barbecue. She was Paris' younger sister and while Jasper didn't know her well enough to be super best buddies, he knew her enough to say hey or to ask a question, although 'hey' and 'Lo' together sounded far too much like an awkward 'hello'.

"That definitely sound up his alley." Jasper thought and said aloud, he wasn't really sure if he should have another drink but he fancied one, and yet he was afraid of what he might say if he did get even a little more tipsy. "Oh," He said, going quiet for a second, tilting his head as he tried to listen closer to a sound that had caught his attention, "Sounds like they've turned the music up." Jasper wasn't sure if that was a good thing, but this was a party, "Wanna head back? We can ask the elf to keep you topped up with the straight stuff." Jasper wasn't a big party goer or dancer, but with a couple of drinks in him, he could do with a little dance, however awkward he might be.

Geralina was probably right, Dorcas was going to stay Dorcas forever, she was far too stubborn to change. Jasper had known her for more than half of his life by this point, and while that was a terrifying, it was certainly an interesting journey. There was no one else like her, at least not that he knew nor wanted to know. He walked toward the cake that Geralina had spotted. He took a peek and he kind of liked it. It seemed very Dorian. “He’s not going to know if this is a cake or a mirror.” What in the hell was he even saying? It was obviously a cake!

Leo left and not a moment too soon. Jasper silently sighed, relieved that that torture was over, only to have geralina ask about skinny dipping, thus putting him on edge again. Jasper inhaled sharply and laughed the breath out. “I may have a story or two about that, but not that Leo knows.” He chuckled, “Let’s find you some alcohol-free punch, or something.” He said, spotting a table with all sorts of barbecue things on it; plates, cutlery, baps, salad, sauces, dressings and so on, and at the end of the table was punch bowl. “I’ll check this out,” he said, nodding his head to Geralina and heading over to the punch bowl, terrified that he was going to have to talk about skinny dipping again.

Jasper felt as though he’d completely messed that up. He could have said just about anything in the world and yet he’d gone for skinny dipping. Honestly, if the world could just crack open, even a little, and swallow him up, he’d have liked that very much. Unfortunately the fates were not on his side and instead he was still there. “Brilliant.” He said, with a sigh, resigning himself to this lie, although Leo was fully enjoying it all too much. That dazzling grin of his was digging at Jasper’s soul. “We’re good, I think I know my way around enough by now. You go play host, mate.” The sooner Leo was gone, the sooner Jasper could, hopefully, recover from that whopper of a lie!

Jasper stepped in after Geralina and watched with a small smile as she started raiding the cupboards. Jasper shoved his hands into his pocket and watched happily as a gleeful, triumphant Geralina announced there was Vimto. At least she'd be able to have a drink this evening, "Congratulations." He chuckled as she began looking for a glass. "Who knew Dorcas would have a soft drink in this place. Seems so out of character." He chuckled, "Maybe having a kid is making her soft." It was possible, although of course there was always going to be something soft around for her step-daughter, but thinking logically just got in the way of Jasper's amusement of Dorcas having anything non-alcoholic in her home.

“He wishes,” Jasper muttered to the pair of them, chuckling as Leo gave Geralina a warm greeting, although Jasper kind of wished that Leo didn’t make it sound as though he talked about Geralina constantly, it was a tad embarrassing. “NO!” Jasper had hugged Leo back, but at his fiend’s unexpected question, Jasper couldn’t help but get a little loud and pull away. Jasper laughed, trying to make it blow over, but he needed an excuse of some kind, “Leo wanted to know if,” Bollocks, he couldn’t think of anything, “If,” Out the corner of his eye her saw the pool, glistening, “I was going to skinny dip this year,” He laughed once, nervously, “No way, man.” He chuckled nervously again, was it too early to die of embarrassment?
