 She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Three for three, and that was all the rejection Dora could handle for one evening. After Old Man Prig walked off, Dora downed the rest of her champagne and turned around with a small huff. She scanned the faces in the crowd until she spotted Kit. She crossed the room to her date, who she had not seen since they'd all yelled "surprise", and leaned on his arm. She pouted up at him. "I'm going home, lovey. This isn't my scene." Without waiting for a response, Dora raised herself up onto her toes (an incremental amount considering the height of her heels) and gave him a kiss on the cheek before disappearing into the crowd, heading for the children's room to collect Pansy so she could go home and get drunk and play with a severing charm until Hunter summoned her.

 But the tigers come at night with their voices soft as thunder Dora had gone off to mingle without him not long after Dorian had arrived, and Kit had found himself keeping busy next to a table full of food. He'd eaten enough tiny treats to last a lifetime, and now he felt greedy and awkward instead of just awkward. It didn't help that every drink in the room was alcoholic. He had a glass of champagne in his hand that he'd been holding onto for Merlin knew how long, but it was warm, and he'd only had two horrible sips. He didn't really know anyone at the party except for his Auror colleagues, but they all seemed busy. Freya went off somewhere with her fiance, Moody was with his wife, Ant Yaxley was hanging out with his own friends, and then there was Dorcas, who Kit didn't really want to spend time with anyway. He'd rather stand alone and eat more food. Even Geralina disappeared with a friend. And then, to top it off, Dora came back to him after a while looking miserable and telling him that she was leaving. "What?" he asked, blinking. But she was already out of the room before he could stop her. Kit glanced around uncomfortably and saw Ant heading his way. “Upstairs?” Jasper chuckled, “I suppose that maybe it might be more economical spatially speaking, for the likes of townhouses and such.” He pondered aloud. His own kitchen was on the ground floor, near the dining room, like in a normal house hold, although his home was rather large, also, so perhaps it wasn’t as close as he thought, perhaps it just seemed close because he was just so used to it. Jasper decided he was thinking far too much about floorpans and cut himself off by looking at Geralina’s back as she lead the way. Was it strange to be attracted to someone’s back? It wasn’t as if it was some kind of fetish or anything, but Jasper thought Geralina’s back had a nice curve to it. What in the name of Merlin was he doing?
Jasper turned and noticed Leo headed their way. He smiled to his friend before rolling his eyes at Leo’s comment. There was no way in hell he was taking Geralina upstairs, that was ridiculous! Jasper turned back to Geralina and shrugged his shoulders, “On to the next room, I suppose.” And that was most certainly not upstairs!.

Isabella really did not like the change in her mother’s hair colour, and for a moment Gabe wondered if there was something wrong with Isabella’s ability to recognise faces. Was this normal behaviour? Isabella was their first little love, he couldn’t be sure how a child’s mind worked, but her reaction to Freya concerned him a little, although he tried not to show it, instead bouncing his daughter, figuring she was probably tired, too, which would account for her screaming. “Go an enjoy yourself, darling. I’ll settle Izzy a bit more and join you later.” He said with an apologetic smile. He loved spending time with his wife, but he didn’t want her to miss out on a good time. She could have a good time and, hopefully, Isabella would relax enough that he could leave her in the kids room once more and join Freya for a touch more fun before they headed home.

Despite the fact that Dorian was not there, the party was going rather well, Em thought. People were mingling and enjoying themselves, the music was lovely and she liked seeing the young man enjoying the food the house elves had set out. Roddy and Rabby seemed to be creating a little bit of a commotion, but Em paid them no attention, not close attention, anyway, they would sober up eventually and hopefully they wouldn't ruin the evening. She just stayed near the food, hoping that she didn't get dragged into a war between Rodolphus, who was now on the floor, and Rabastan, who seemed to be spreading out on the sofa.

André was content sitting in silence, mulling over any thought that passed his mind. He could do that dor quite some time, bouncing from one thought to the next but today it did not last long, or it didn't feel as though his thoughts had lasted that long, as Dorian's good friend popped his head in. Poor Dorian, André felt for him, but this seemed like something just the two lads needed to talk about in private. "I'll let you chaps chat." He said with a sympathetic smile before he stood up and left the room, hoping the Dorian would find peace with the evening and find a way to enjoy himself while surrounded by his loved ones.

Good lord he was never going to live that interaction down. On his gravestone a hundred years from now Ant could just envision the words 'Here lies A-man' chiselled across the steel grey granite. Ant grabbed a fresh drink from a floating tray nearby and headed for the food table, popping a few pieces of cheese in his mouth before adding a couple of grapes. His cheeks were full but he grabbed a weird spoon looking thing with lamb on it and turned to face the room. He spotted Doc headed for Moody and his Mrs, and then the Dora chick heading for Kit. Ant just finished his mouthful of fancy cheese and grapes and shoved the lamb in, letting out a moan at the flavours. The spoon disappeared as soon as he was done with it and he chewed the meat that practically melted in his mouth. Ant once again spotted Kit, but this time he was headed for Ant. Ant quickly took a sip of the beer he'd nabbed from the tray and smiled at Kit, "Hey, Devereaux, how's your date doing?" Perhaps she'd just gone to the loo to powder her nose, either way, it seemed a bit odd that she was at a party like this, she definitely seemed more like the type he'd see at clubs or total ragers, not a little birthday party for Humbert.

Freya Fawley approached, helping herself to the food, and Kit found himself with more company than he thought he'd have at all tonight. "Fawley," he greeted, tipping his still full champagne glass at hers, which was already nearly empty. "It's not like there are a bunch of half naked strangers getting drunk and rowdy. As far as I'm aware there's no giant birthday cake with a stripper hiding inside." Actually, he'd have to check that one because he wasn't sure what the cake situation was. Or if there even was one. Julian had arranged all of this with Dorcas, and Leo didn't really know Dorian's brother all that well apart from that they were getting closer at a snail like pace the more the younger man was in Dorian's life. Leo thought it was good for Dorian to have more family around him, anything to keep him from becoming a total hermit. Jasper reached forward to the door handle that Geralina seemed a bit apprehensive about opening and tugged down. Jasper couldn’t blame her, this was Dorcas’ home and there was never any telling what you would find in her place, especially not when you paired her up with Roddy, but Jasper held out hope that the fact they had a child in the home meant that there wouldn’t be anything damaging to anyone psyche, “Bingo, full steam ahead, Drake.” He said, giving the door a push and extending his arm for Geralina to step foot first.

Gone home? Well shit. It hadn’t been because of the D-Man, thing, had it? No, that would have been ridiculous. Sure all that nonsense was embarrassing, but there was no way that it would cause Kit’s date to head home. Ant knew he could occasionally put his foot in his mouth, but he felt fairly certain that he was not the reason that Dora had headed home. Shoving another bite into his mouth, Ant nodded his head as Freya going them, “Fawley,” He said, mouth half full. He swallowed his food and took a sip of his beer as Kit said he was contemplating leaving. “He struck out with his date.” Ant said, jerking his head in Kit’s direction.

A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now A kitchen at last! Huzzah! It wasn't that much of a celebration, but Geralina was glad to see a tap with water, if nothing else. She headed in ahead of Jasper and began rummaging through the fridge and cupboards, looking for anything to drink. She eventually came across a bottle that made her face light up. "Vimto!" she said, holding the bottle up like it was a gleaming trophy. "Mission complete," she grinned at Jas, now trying to find a glass to put said Vimto in.
