rabastan aramis lestrange
PERSONALITY Boggart: A dementor. Rabastan is scared of being found out one day and getting sent to Azkaban for his part in the war. He doesn't let it stop him from doing what he wants to do, but the fear is there, deep down. Mirror of Erised: Rabby would see himself with an heir of his own, next to his beautiful wife. His brother has so far failed to produce a son, and so Rabastan would be thrilled to give their parents the first boy in the family. Patronus: Crocodile - Rabastan cannot produce a Patronus, though if he could his happiest memory would be quite recent, actually. Securing himself a job in the Minister's Guard made him feel more proud of himself than he ever has before, and he knows he's doing bloody magnificently by managing to achieve such a useful position. Rabastan is overall an easy enough guy to get along with. He's a good friend, loyal, enjoys a bit of fun, appreciates intelligence over stupidity. He's a very sarcastic person, something his parents hoped was just a childhood trait that he would grow out of, but no, he still loves to be a little shit and wind people up with his mouth whenever he feels like they deserve it. Mostly stupidity and ignorance get his wit flowing and he can take someone down quite quickly with words alone. His fiends have always found his sarcasm amusing, and he enjoys the company of people who can take it on the chin and not be oversensitive to it. He's a fan of those with a thick skin. Rabby has always had anger issues. Not outwardly, but on the inside, he can be bubbling with rage for days and hiding it behind his smart-arse ways. If you really piss him off, he is no stranger to using his fists as well as his wand. He's great at curses and hexes thanks to years of training in the Ministry and also from private tutors that his parents hired for himself and his brother when they were younger, but he honestly prefers the satisfaction of just smashing someone's face in with his bare hands. Nothing will satisfy his anger quite like that, and though he can keep a lid on it pretty well so that most people would never guess he suffers with his temper, he is quite violent when he knows he'll get away with it. Another key ingredient in the makeup of Rabastan is intelligence. He was always naturally smart, and during school could have easily fitted in with the geek crowd had it not been for his good looks and money. He didn't necessarily enjoy learning or seek it out, but more he absorbed information like a sponge, and it was just a natural part of who he was. He found the more practical lessons suited his temperament more, though, and DADA soon became a fast favourite, allowing him to unleash his frustrations that he had to hide on a daily basis, and it helped him to settle on a career path. He knew that if he didn't want to end up in Azkaban for losing the plot and getting himself in trouble because of his temper, he'd need something to soothe that daily, and becoming an Auror was really the only viable option, plus it suited the Dark Lord's needs once Rabastan joined the ranks of the Death Eaters. So between his cutting wit, quick mind, love of a good prank, and greater love of a good fight, he's a bit of a complex character, but always know that if he's on your side, he's on your side, duplicity is not in his nature, and he is loyal and true to those that he deems worthy. HISTORY Mother: Ceres Lestrange (nee Rowle), 65 Father: Adolph Lestrange, 69 Siblings: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange, 28, Pureblood, Slytherin Alumni Partners: Lilith Burke, 24, Pureblood, fiance Others: Aurora Lestrange, 5, niece, Bellatrix Lestrange, 27, sister-in-law The younger brother of the mighty Rodolphus Lestrange was born on a cold February evening. Snow fell outside, and the soft hush of the winter was broken by the merciless screams of his mother as she birthed her second son. Rabastan was a quiet baby, an observer, a deep thinker, and somewhat of a dreamer. He learned quickly that Rodolphus was number one, and even though Rabastan got away with a lot as a child, it was nothing compared to how his parents spoiled his big brother. Always in Roddy's shadow, Rabastan knew no different, though as he got a bit older he learned that he possessed the same fire his brother had, only his came out in the form of a sharp tongue, sass, sarcasm, and a quiet arrogance rather than the showy one of Rodolphus. He also possessed the mighty temper that both boys seemed to have inherited from somewhere, though it was often a surprise when Rabby let his loose. As a quiet boy, it could be quite disturbing seeing him explode in such a violent fit, and his parents often worried that this would one day cause trouble between their sons once they were both older. Luckily, Rabby looked up to his brother a lot, and the two got along just fine, causing mischief and mayhem around the Lestrange manor, which mostly consisted of Roddy giving orders and Rabby following them with a few sarcastic remarks thrown in as his way of making it known he wasn't a complete pushover. He wasn't a pushover for anyone except his brother. With friends he was laid back and easy going, but he was certainly not one to be pushed around. If anyone crossed him he would snap, and it would likely end in violence, Rabby not being afraid to dive in with his fists and leave friends in a bloody mess. This became more problematic at Hogwarts. He was sorted into Slytherin with his brother, and had expected no less, proudly representing the Lestranges and the magnificent bloodline they came from. His temper, however, had to go on the back burner. He did well in his studies, and found himself to be quite popular despite his tongue. People recognised his quiet loyalty, his sense of humour and his generosity more than his insults hidden behind jokes. He was well liked, and whenever somebody got under his skin, he had no choice but to learn to hold his fists and walk away, which absolutely killed him, but he would not bring shame on his family by making a name for himself as a troublemaker, getting into fights all of the time. He began to fool around with girls in his fourth year, seeing how popular Roddy was and wanting to emulate that. It was silly, and he soon grew out of it when he realised that competing with his brother would only cause resentment when Roddy inevitably proved better than him. He didn't want to resent his brother, he adored the guy probably a bit too much and it was pointless competing anyway, Roddy was older, taller, more charismatic, smarter. He looked out for his baby brother, though, and when Rodolphus became Quidditch captain for the Slytherin team, he got Rabby a spot as Keeper, which pleased the younger Lestrange no end as he found it rather useful in cooling his temper. Instead of beating the shit out of people when he was angry, he would hop on his broom and thrash a beaters bat around, or score some goals until he felt calmer. He graduated with good grades, knowing what his place would be when he left school. Rodolphus had joined a group who called themselves Death Eaters, and they represented everything the Lestrange boys had been taught to believe as boys. Fighting for a world where purebloods were supreme, Rabby wanted in. It took no convincing on his brother's part, and he eagerly jumped at the chance to be a part of such a group, meeting the Dark Lord not long after graduation and being more than a little bit proud when the man seemed to approve of Rabby's plans to become an Auror. It was what he wanted. He could think of no other job that would leave him more satisfied than the role of beating the crap out of arseholes would. He could duel almost as well as his brother, had similar dark arts training, and could throw a freaking mean punch despite his smaller frame. He immersed himself into Auror training, bulking up considerably and loving the physical aspects of the job. It felt good. He felt powerful, and after graduating from the Auror Academy, he felt like a god when he walked down the street, knowing he could take out anyone without breaking a sweat if he really wanted to. It was a rush, and for once he felt like he wasn't in the shadow of his big brother, who was running the family business and married already with a daughter. Granted Rabby was way behind, but it didn't matter, he was doing his own thing and he was bloody great at it. His parents were proud and his role as an Auror was a rather large help for the Dark Lord. Everything was going great. That was until just over a year ago when he was called to the Lestrange estate by his parents for a chat. He was told that they had arranged a marriage for him with a pureblooded girl by the name of Lilith Burke. He had heard of her, she worked for Lestrange Industries for a while, though she was a few years younger than Rabastan. He was hesitant, naturally, but he knew that he had to do what his parents expected of him, like any pureblooded man would, and so he made no arguments about it. He met Lilith not long after, and the pair began a somewhat awkward friendship, knowing what it would eventually lead to. The wedding is set for the winter, and Rabastan will admit that he has grown quite fond of the blonde beauty, and he feels protective over her at the very least. He hopes that once they can be more intimate after their wedding, love will follow, but for now he is highly frustrated, though he is stubbornly refusing to see other women behind his betrothed's back, something he gets a lot of stick for from his friends. He recently jumped on a job opening when a new Minister was elected, a new guard was needed for the woman, and as an Auror, Rabastan was more than qualified for the job. With the encouragement of the Dark Lord, he applied for one of the openings and was only a little bit sad to leave his job as an Auror, but then who wouldn't want to be glued to the side of the most powerful woman in the Ministry. It is now his job to protect the Minister, but he would be more than happy, if given the order, to be the one who kills her.
