Keep Kit company, "Sure we will!" He grinned his biggest grin, keep a colleague company with another colleague at the birthday party of yet another colleague that had walked out? Sure, sounded like a blast! Who wouldn't love to babysit someone that looked as though they'd rather go home. His date had ditched him, and no matter how much he insisted they were 'just friends', it seemed to Ant as though there was certainly something else there, although he didn't get the impression it was romantic, more kind of ... forced? "Perhaps you'll meet someone here," He said, although everyone here was pretty much either from work or a spouse of someone from work. "Or just hang with us, we're the cool kids." He was putting his foot in his mouth again, he could feel it.

Jasper stepped in after Geralina and watched with a small smile as she started raiding the cupboards. Jasper shoved his hands into his pocket and watched happily as a gleeful, triumphant Geralina announced there was Vimto. At least she'd be able to have a drink this evening, "Congratulations." He chuckled as she began looking for a glass. "Who knew Dorcas would have a soft drink in this place. Seems so out of character." He chuckled, "Maybe having a kid is making her soft." It was possible, although of course there was always going to be something soft around for her step-daughter, but thinking logically just got in the way of Jasper's amusement of Dorcas having anything non-alcoholic in her home.

Poor guy must have been gutted that she'd left. At least Ant was agreeing to help her keep him company, that was good. Yaxley really lived up to his name, he could yack and yack for hours, which in this case was a great gift. Maybe he should have brought her with him, he'd have had a much better time and she wouldn't have ditched him. Nor would he be facing the horrifying thought that Ant might try and find him a new date for the night. "I really don't want to meet someone," he insisted, watching as Freya finished one drink and moved on to the next like a fish. This night was awful. Dorcas was one of the strongest women in the world, physically, emotionally and in whatever other way. She was sometimes too tough for Geralina, but it was useful and often balanced the librarian out in sentimental moments. Geralina couldn't imagine Dorcas ever being any other way, even as a mother. Her gaze fell on the counter on the other side of the huge kitchen and Geralina let out a gasp. "Oooh, is this Dorian's cake?" she asked, running over to have a look. It was three tiers, decorated like a dark blue suit with shirt and pale blue tie dripping down the side of the tiers. With Andre’s departure there was definitely no escaping being dragged back out into the party by his best mate, but he’d save the confiding conversation for a later time. There was no use getting into the details of the letter he’d been gifted or the first few sentences of it he’d managed to read before becoming overwhelmed by it all. Dorian had loathed celebrating his birthday especially after his parents had passed, and being given more family somehow felt like a slap in the face to the mum and dad that had raised him. Leo would hear it all eventually, but certainly not tonight. Not here. “I’ll tell you about it later,” he agreed. “A stripper cake might actually be a good distraction,” he said with a very slight chuckle, although if Dorcas had anything to do with such a surprise she would likely be the stripper in the cake, in which case Dorian would definitely be passing.

Rod carried on talking about whatever the fuck came to mind while sitting on the floor in front of the sofa and picking at the shit awful food they had been given. He tried getting up for a drink but wasn’t able to coordinate it, so he stayed put and called the elf over to bring him a drink which he suspected had been switched out for something non-alcoholic.

He shook his head as Dorian joked about the stripper cake. "Sounds like you need a drink," he said, standing up and beckoning Dorian towards the door. "Come on, lets get this thing over with so you can go home and brood about it with Ariel." He wouldn't brood in front of Ariel, Leo was sure, but there would be a lot of brooding happening tonight. Leo would probably ask Jasper if he wanted to head out for a few hours later. Unless Jasper was getting laid by the brunette in the hall. Maybe Doc would be up for it. Or Ant. Or anyone, really. A drink, while not typically Dorian’s choice of coping strategy, had come in handy whenever large emotions overtook the unusually uptight Auror. “Just one glass of wine,” he said aloud, as if Leo would be monitoring him. “But as it is my party, regretfully, I suppose it could be a rather large one.” Dorian would never forgive himself if he was drunk in front of Ariel.

They were the cool kids! Ant was pumped to be hanging out with some badass colleagues at what was essentially a castle, Freya and "Someone get this woman a bottle of shamp-ag-un!" He called out to the room, if Freya needed a bottle of champagne, then she was going to get a bottle of champagne, this was a party and people needed to celebrate! “You do you, mate,” He said, patting Kit on the back, “Plenty more fish in the sea and plenty of time to go fishing later.” Ant wasn’t even sure why he was talking about fishing, but it didn’t matter, he grabbed a beer from a tray, “Turn the music up and turn off the lights,” He said, giving his wand a wave to have the lights dim before colourful orbs began floating overhead, dancing above the party goers, this party was going to rock!

Geralina was probably right, Dorcas was going to stay Dorcas forever, she was far too stubborn to change. Jasper had known her for more than half of his life by this point, and while that was a terrifying, it was certainly an interesting journey. There was no one else like her, at least not that he knew nor wanted to know. He walked toward the cake that Geralina had spotted. He took a peek and he kind of liked it. It seemed very Dorian. “He’s not going to know if this is a cake or a mirror.” What in the hell was he even saying? It was obviously a cake!

Her eyes widened as Ant hollered for a bottle of champagne, and within seconds one was floating across the room to her on a tray. Frey shrugged and grabbed the bottle, popping the top off with a loud bang just as Ant turned the music up and set loose some disco lights, creating a real party atmosphere. "Let's party, baby!"
