Spring Gala "Pfft. I'm everyone's type," Fin scoffed as he danced with his best friend. It was a little bit awkward to get near her thanks to the sheer volume of her dress, but he managed just fine. Purebloods like himself weren't forced to take dance lessons for fancy events for the sheer fun of it, there were useful parts to being able to waltz and twirl your way gracefully through a crowded dance floor, like not standing on your partner's ridiculously enormous dress. He wondered what kind of ensemble his mother was wearing this evening. She was as vain as they came, she practically kept every beauty potion company in business using every kind of magical help she could to keep herself looking young and beautiful. She would no doubt have gone all out for the night. He imagined his father would be having his own trying time dancing around whatever outfit his wife had on, and it made Fin smile to think of Aurelius struggling and trying to keep his composure. Fin wouldn't be seeking his parents out to find out how they were faring. He'd stay far, far away from them as long as he could. They hadn't been dancing long when an announcement was made that dinner was about to be served. Pulling their dance to a rather abrupt end, Fin held his arm out for Dora to take, and led her across the garden, following the crowds. It didn't take long for them to be shown to their seats, and Fin was pleased that he didn't know the man sitting to his left, being seated beside a stranger was much better than being sat next to his parents. He didn't even bother to scan the table for them, though he couldn't help but notice the rather gorgeous brunette almost directly opposite him. She was seated beside a man probably a decade older than Fin and nowhere near as attractive as him. She could do better. His eyes lingered on her a few seconds longer, sure her face looked familiar. Maybe she'd been in his club a time or two. He wondered if she'd ever stayed at the Inn, and what the chances were of her ditching the old bore and letting him give her a proper tour of every bedroom in the Starlight's little add on. Deciding not to stare too long, he turned to Dora. "Who are you next to?" he asked, noting that the seat beside Dora was empty, but there were name cards at every place. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson , Dorcas Amilie Meadowes and Everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Mr. Sophisticated. template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Spring Gala It took maybe half a second for her to succeed in making Dorian uncomfortable, and Tersha was pleased with her effort, or non-effort. She hadn't even had to try! Excellent. He was quite adorable in his stiffness, though she imagined him being stiff somewhere else would be much more fun. Oh, well, she was never going to get the pleasure of seeing that, so she'd have to settle for watching him squirm every time she told him the completely honest truth that he was incredibly handsome and would look good enough to eat even if he'd just rolled out of a festering bin. Tersha would never not be honest and very open about it. Their greeting was cut short by the announcement that dinner would be served shortly, and she took a step back as Dorcas looped her arm through Dorian's and the pair headed inside. She didn't want to go in just yet. Merlin knew who she'd be sat next to, and for how long, she at least needed to freshen up a bit first in case it was somebody horribly good looking. Heading to the bathroom - which was surprisingly easy to find thanks to the house not being that impressive - she touched up her makeup, and exchanged a few polite words with a younger girl who complemented Tersha's dress. It was sweet, but Tersha didn't return the compliments, she didn't think the green frog-like dress the girl had on was all that admirable, and she couldn't bring herself to find a comment about the girls look that wasn't insulting. Instead, she smiled brightly and swept from the bathroom, smelling lovelier than the flowers in the garden, and looking a million dollars. Whoever was sitting beside her would be one lucky man. Or woman. She hoped it was a man. A woman greeted her in the dining room and took her name, escorting her to the far end of the table where she could see the Minister's husband was seated. Wonderful, she'd be in earshot for her quill to pick up on his conversations. And oh my Merlin, would you look at that! There was her lovely little name card, right beside one that said Dorian Humbert. Her freshening up had been worth it after all. Dorcas was sat at his other side, which just made it even more perfect than the Meadowes family lunches that they they all attended regularly. He could escape at those lunches and sit next to Andre, here he had no choice but to endure the company of the two wonderful, strong women flanking him. What a perfect night. Her chocolate eyes of course took in the rest of the table, and she saw the young Starlight club owner giving Dorcas the eye from across the table. He was sat beside some sort of golden lampshade girl who thought looking like a sparkling toilet roll holder was a good idea, but he was definitely checking Dorcas out. "It is sooo good to sit down, these heels are a killer," she announced as she took her seat, leaning right across Dorian to speak directly to Dorcas, her hair probably brushing against Dorian's face, or at least his chest. "There's a hottie checking you out. Eleven o'clock," she said in a conspiratorial tone before straightening up and picking up her name card. "They could have used a fancier font, don't you think?" she asked Dorian, flashing her card at him. _______________________ tag: Dorcas Amilie Meadowes , Dorian Michael Humbert and everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Hot little flower. template by izzy[googlefont="Homemade Apple"]

Spring Gala She gave the best answer she could have possibly given him by hinting that she liked to swim. He would definitely be looking for that pool. Her hand in his, he led her through the gardens, sparing only a quick glance at the announcer who requested everyone to head into the dining room like a herd of sheep. Julian wouldn't be complying just yet. There were so many people to be seated, they wouldn't be missed for at least another fifteen minutes, they could take the scenic route on their way into the house. The pool could wait until later. That worked out for the best anyway, everyone would be much more tipsy and unlikely to notice two beautiful people having some fun after dinner. He gave her a gentle tug onto a flower lined path that had statues dotted about. "Well, here we have a very important frog, clearly the king of the frogs, based on this very large rock he was given to sit on," he said in a posh voice, waving his free hand at the rather ugly frog statue. A little further down the path they passed another statue of a half naked woman carrying a basket of fruit. "And this lady was the mistress of Mr Galanis. Sybil chased her down in the middle of the night and turned her to stone." He patted the - thankfully covered up - bum of the statue. "Bad luck, love."Maybe ten minutes had passed, though it felt like one. Any time he was with Lunete time seemed to go much faster than he wanted it to. The gardens were almost empty now, and he knew they would have to go inside soon, or have someone come looking for them. He'd much rather stay right where he was, but then he didn't want to be the black sheep of the party. Usually he wouldn't care, but his brother was here tonight and he very much needed Dorian to think that he was someone who would tow the line. Julian sighed. "I suppose we should head inside," he said, wondering what kind of stuffy arrangement dinner would be. He wasn't a fussy eater, but he much preferred simple things to fancy meals with names that people struggled to pronounce. Maybe the Minister's choices would surprise him, but he sincerely hoped he wouldn't be sitting with a plate of lobster in front of him in the next ten minutes. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn notes: <3 outfit: Sexy springy hottie! template by izzy [googlefont="Dancing Script"]

Lunete was happily lead by the hand by Julian. The evening was busy but she couldn't stop smiling. This was such a lovely date together. She didn't much mind being called to dinner already, she wanted to spend more time one on one with Julian and he seemed to want the same with her. Going for a walk while everyone else made their way to the dining room was just perfect for Lunete. It was a beautiful setting and she didn't mind being social at all, but she quite liked alone time with Julian as they walked along a beautiful little path, Julian pointing at the statues, telling her little tales and making her chuckle. She leant in against the side of his arm, holding his hand with both of hers as they walked. Time seemed to absolutely fly by because pretty soon Julian was sighing and she knew why. A quick glance about told her it was time to head in and Julian said the words out loud. She lowered her head a little and looked up at Julian, pouting a little "I suppose so." She smiled. She wouldn't mind sitting next to him in a room full of people in the slightest. It was a little strange that she was doing it in front of a lot of people that she worked with. Perhaps this hadn't been such a good idea for only a second date!
They pair made their way in to the dining hall, making their way to their seats together, escorted by some help. The house and the dining room were just spectacular in Lunete's opinion and she was absolutely amazed with it all. Her family home felt so much larger these days but it was more homely and less stately than the Minister's family home. Lunete liked both very much but she would be happier living in her own home than somewhere like this. As beautiful as it was it wasn't the sort of place she'd like to live in. She hoped to someday have a family home much like the one she'd grown up in and have a family about as large as the one she'd grown up in. Perhaps a child or two less. Or more. Who knew!
Looking across the table as she took her seat she smiled a little awkwardly before looking to Julian and opening her eyes a little wider, slight horror that they were opposite his brother and Meadowes. At least she wasn't the only one here from the ministry not on official business! That was something she supposed, although she didn't much think sitting across from her teacher and a work colleague. Was she a colleague? Lunete wasn't really a fully qualified Auror yet and Meadowes wasn't a teacher of any kind but it wasn't as if they were nothing to one another. Though Lunete thought that perhaps Meadowes had absolutely no idea she existed. This was going to be awkward if they had to make conversation. The table wasn't wide enough that they could get away with not conversing but then again there were plenty of people so perhaps the sound of chattering guests in the Ministers home would be enough to warrant not talking over the table. Lunete sighed a little. One could hope.

Spring Gala Complete transparency in the ministry. Evie nearly snorted with laughter, but she managed to stop herself, and instead her smile brightened as she nodded along encouragingly. "I wouldn't worry about silly reports in newspapers," she said casually. "They sensationalize everything. It's clearly just a bid for drama." In actual fact she had loved the newspaper article about the leak. It was scandalous and wonderfully condemning, and just the kind of thing she liked to read, especially about a brand new minister, highlighting her rookie mistakes was just fabulous entertainment. The Minister excused herself and Evie was pleased to see the back of her as she disappeared in the crowd. Dinner was to be served momentarily and it couldn't come sooner, standing around a garden in heels was getting tiring, as was the mind numbing music that was playing. Maybe dinner would be more interesting, though that would depend on who she was seated with. She linked her arm through Rodolphus' and turned her gaze upon him. "Could we have more idiotic Minister?" Probably not. "Escort a lady to dinner?"The walk was short, and she was soon bidding Rodolphus farewell as they gave their names to the help and were taken in different directions to their seats. Evie couldn't help but feel sorry for Roddy as he was seated practically in Galanis' lap, and she smiled to herself as she spied two wonderfully welcome heads of dark hair beside her name card. Dora Parkinson was a lovely little thing, and beside her was her best friend, and Evie's old flame, Fin Avery. They were people Evie definitely considered to be friends, and she could be herself around them without having to pretend too much. Of course Dora had no idea Evie and Fin were Death Easters, so that would have to remain hush hush, but aside from that she wouldn't need to hold her tongue too much. "Dora, you look incredible!" she gushed, taking a seat next to the raven haired girl and leaning over to kiss her on the cheek in greeting. She gave a flirty wave across Dora to Fin. "Hi, handsome," she smirked, knowing the compliment would roll right off of him. He was used to being handsome pretty much all of the time, when they had dated he had been practically immune to such words. Still, Dora would surely appreciate the fuss, and she deserved it, she looked wonderfully glamorous and put old Galanis to shame. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange , @sybil , Euphadora Rose Parkinson , Finley Charles Avery and Everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Spring rose! template by izzy[googlefont="Mrs Saint Delafield"]

Spring Gala "Steady on, Lilith," Rabastan responded with a look of mild concern that was all too fake. "There's sarcasm, and then there's just plain horror." The thought of having this, this very event, be their wedding was indeed horrifying. He couldn't imagine anything worse. Getting married in the middle of Diagon Alley with a horse for a priest wouldn't be that much worse. All joking aside, this cute little party would pale spectacularly in significance to the Lestrange-Burke wedding, and so it should. Some minister wannabe would never be able to outshine even the lesser of the sacred twenty eight. Just look at his beautiful fiance, dazzling compared to all of the women in the room. They were in a league of their own, and as soon as Rodolphus found himself a new wife in the same league, they'd be complete as pureblood royalty. Actual pureblood royalty. Unstoppable. Unbeatable. One million percent more attractive than everyone else in the room - minus Roddy's dramatic eyebrows, thank Merlin Aurora hadn't inherited those. And of course, Rabastan's sons would be just as mighty and revered when they were born. Dinner was about to be served in the dining room, and Rabastan pulled Lilith to a gentle halt, looping her arm through his and escorting her towards the dining room right away so as to avoid having to rub up against anyone else in the crowd that would no doubt be surging like cattle towards the house. He spied Rodolphus on his way in, Evangeline Nott hanging off his arm. She would make a fine wife for his brother, dark and beautiful, pure, and a Death Eater. The couple split as they were shown to their seats, and Rabastan and Lilith were lead right behind Rodolphus to be seated beside him. Rabastan held Lilith's seat out for her, not at all surprised that they had been seated right near the head of the table next to the Minister herself. If that didn't speak of status, then what did? "Brother," Rabby greeted Rodolphus quietly as he took his own seat beside his brother, used to being up close and personal with Minister Galanis for work every day. Being by her side was second nature to him now, so much so that he didn't bat an eye at the seating arrangements. Maybe she'd done it on purpose to make herself feel slightly safer for the night. Keeping one of her personal bodyguards close by, even if he was off duty for the night. Smart in Sybil's eyes, foolish in the eyes of a Death Eater who, off duty, was more than willing to kill her on the spot if given the order by the Dark Lord. But, dinner first. Rabastan was famished. _______________________ tag: Lilith A. C. My promise to you always and forever
The tug on his arm was unneeded as Dorian was more than happy to head inside the Minister’s home for dinner. He had nothing against Tersha. She was pleasant enough but she towed the line on being nice and being flirty, and Dorian didn’t need her style of flirting. Much like Dorcas, Tersha was over the top with it all. Mercifully, Dorian knew that neither Tersha nor Dorcas were legitimately interested in him. They both just found it humorous to make him uncomfortable. He was already dealing with Dorcas for the duration of the evening, as he had somehow managed to be wrangled into being her date for this event, he was happy to not have to deal with the two of them while he ate.
Escorting Dorcas inside, the couple was shown to their seats; little placards designated their assigned placements and a quick scan of the script made Dorian’s heart sink just a little. Not only had he not escaped the duo or Dorcas and Tersha, but he was seating right smack between them. Dorian wondered if perhaps he had done something to offend the Minister and this was her way of getting revenge. Keeping his features schooled, Dorian sat at the table and looked across to the empty seats on the opposite side. Perhaps someone more professional (or “grown up”) would be nearby, and Dorian could have a sophisticated conversation about the Minister’s work thus far for the country, and the future of Britain during this civil war. Real party conversations.
The couple across from Dorcas were younger, they looked to be adults but only just. The man was ogling Dorcas, and Dorian turned to look down the opposite side of the table. An older couple, mid-forties he assumed, sat directly opposite them and Dorian struck up a light conversation. A short while later a familiar voice interrupted their talk of taxes, claiming her feet were hurting and leaning in front of Dorian to speak to Dorcas. Dorian pushed his body backwards to create a miniscule amount of space between himself and the young journalist who as she spoke practically on his lap. She straightened herself and then spoke to Dorian next, commenting on the place cards. “The thought hadn’t occurred to me,” he replied.
The empty seats at the table quickly filled, though the pair opposite Dorian remained unoccupied. Dorian spoke a little more with Tersha about the décor, a true nightmare of a topic, in his opinion, but the sound of chairs gently scraping against the floor caught his ear and he looked up to find his half-brother and the Auror-in-training sitting down across from him. Minister Galanis surely was out to get him. “Good evening, Julian, Miss Dearborn. What a pleasant surprise to see you both here.” Together. What was Julian doing with the young Lunete? He hadn’t wanted to think much on it when Dorcas pointed it out earlier, she was attempting to get him to engage in gossip and he wasn’t the sort, but it was a curious pairing nonetheless, and one that could hardly be avoided as they were staring him in the face.

If I am an angel paint me with black wings
There was no love lost as Minister Galanis excused herself and left their little group. Rodolphus’ smile remained intact for a while longer until he was certain there would be no look back from the woman he pretended to support, then he turned his eyes down onto the lovely Evie. “The answer is a painful yes, but at least she’s stupid enough to believe the shit she’s fed. Kedavra me if I have to suck up to that bitch again this evening.” As he spoke Rodolphus took Evie’s arm in his and escorted her into the teeny tiny ballroom, which really was nothing more than an oversized dining room. He waggled his eyebrows at her teasingly as they separated and she was shown to her seat, Rodolphus being guided in the opposite direction.
A single table, magicked to hold the entirety of the party comfortably, with assigned seating arbitrarily chosen by Galanis or one of her sad excuses for a party planner. It was practically unheard of to host a dinner event like this, and it further highlighted her inexperience with the wealth she had now obtained thanks to her position, which had essentially been purchased for her by people like Rodolphus who wanted to manipulate her simple mind. And such a simple mind she had. That leaked memo, whether strategic or accidental, would only fool the unwashed masses into thinking she cared about the war against the Death Eaters. Anyone with half a brain, on either side of the political divide, would be able to see through a boisterous demand like that. Galanis needed someone to educate her on manipulation tactics, but Rodolphus was certainly not volunteering his time to such an endeavor. He would be happy to not have to lay eyes on the witch against for the duration of the evening.
That tacky little place card made him want to set the whole sodding table on fire.
On one side of Rod’s seat was, thankfully, his brother and his future sister-in-law. They would be pleasant company for the evening and in theory Rodolphus could loosen up a bit around them, though nothing too extreme as there were eyes everywhere. He was shit out of luck, however, as he was sat right next to Minister Galanis herself. Fuck it all to hell. His gaze flicked over to Evie, whom he had joking asked to murder him should he have to speak with the Minister again this evening. She was too preoccupied with her friend, Fin’s little side piece, to put him out of his misery. Scanning the long table, Rodolphus leaned forward to see who Fin was looking at – perhaps in conversation although he didn’t appear to be talking. Was listening the young man’s forte? Hardly.
“Rab,” he greeted with a nod, and before his brother could take his seat, having held the chair for his fiancée, Rodolphus leaned across the still empty space and spoke directly to Lilith. “You look stunning this evening, Miss Burke.” His greeting was accurate and a bit formal, but he smiled and his eyes flashed a bit of mischief and turned towards his brother, allowing the man space to sit himself beside the gorgeous blonde. “You had better watch this one, brother, or I might steal her away from you before you have the chance to walk her down the aisle.” Lilith was beautiful, wealthy, and elegant. She was an absolutely perfect match to wed a Lestrange and it didn’t matter which one, but Rodolphus couldn’t pull his mind away from the couple he had spotted Fin looking at.
He waited until Rabastan was settled, then leaned slightly toward his brother and whispered his inquiry. “Who is that man sitting next to the journalist. Knight. Have I seen him around the Ministry before?” Rodolphus wasn’t so much concerned with who the man was, as he was concerned with who the man was to the witch sitting next to him; Dorcas. It was the same bloke who had let himself into Dorcas’ cottage about a year ago just in time to spy Rodolphus in all his glory threatening some manner of sexual deviancy against his mistress. Seeing the man sitting with Dorcas, among other couples, annoyed him. Perhaps there was a bit of jealousy seeing her with another man or maybe Rodolphus was still angry about finding out that Dorcas had aborted his child in secret, but whatever the reason, he didn’t like seeing Dorcas smiling in the company of another man – one who felt at ease walking into her home unannounced.

Post by Lilith A. C. Lestrange on May 30, 2018 13:29:41 GMT
Lilith almost broke out in a genuine smile. Almost. She was well versed at keeping the type of expression she needed for a situation but Rabastan was a rather entertaining sort. She'd spent a bit of time getting to know him, they were engaged after all and she'd been growing up with him for her whole life. It didn't mean they were close but before they were engaged they'd certainly spoken before and knew of one another. He was quite handsome, better looking than his brother so she was lucky with that regards. His brother also had a habit of sleeping around. Lilith wasn't sure if Rabastan would share that particular family trait with his brother but she hoped not, or if he did that he'd at least keep himself to a decent class of woman. She wasn't sure who Rodolphus spent his evenings and nights with but she'd found herself both pleasuring him and being pleasure by him. She may have been wanting to save herself completely for her husband but she wasn't a complete angel, a girl needed a little fun here and there and there was just something so tantalising about an office affair. Of course that was before she was engaged to Rabastan. Had she known then that she would be betrothed to the younger Lestrange she most certainly would not have enjoyed Rodolphus' advances as much and they would not have gone further. She liked to think that Rodolphus was at least a slightly honourable gentleman and, if he had known that she would be his future sister in law, that he would not have made any such advances.
As she was trained to be, Lilith was a perfect companion. She followed Rabastan, effortlessly following his every little non-verbal command as he guided her through the house and to where they were seated. Rodolphus was there having parted ways with Evie Nott, someone Lilith hadn't really expected to see here but then again she had the chance to cling off of a Lestrange so what else should Lilith have expected? Clementine had wormed her way into the Burke family somehow, something Lilith was most displeased about, but if she had to be related to the despicable Nott family through the Lestrange side as well ... well she'd just have to kill someone. Instead of allowing these thoughts to cross her face and give her away, she smiled politely at her future brother in law with the warmth that she offered only to family and, these days, family to be. "Evening Rodolphus, you look dashing." She smiled, knowing he would have all sorts of women hanging off of him now that he was getting divorced. Evie would only be the start, although he had planted the idea of her walking down the aisle to meet him instead of Rabastan. He was the older sibling, and heir, but Rodolphus was not as attractive as Rabastan and she was already engaged to the younger Lestrange. It wouldn't do well to change brothers, not that she would have any choice in the matter, it was just a silly little thought passing by.
Lilith was seated and she took in the sight of those at the table around them. A glance up the table first, she wasn't far from the Minister at the head of the table and those opposite were somewhat acceptable. That Vienna woman was directly opposite and Lilith wasn't a fan, not even the slightest. She was an unknown and yet, somehow, she'd managed to claw her way into a highly respectable pureblood family. One of the Sacred 28. Lilith was a blood snob, even amongst the Sacred 28. There were a few in there that weren't up to the name. Parkinsons, Blacks, Weasleys, Bones. There were a few. The Notts too, Lilith disliked how they were so chummy with just about everyone, they were close to blood traitors in her mind. Further down a familiar face caught her eye and she lingered on him a little while. A couple of people beyond her cousin, well second cousin, Fin, was Julian. A face she'd not seen in a while. She didn't even notice, as she lingered on him for a moment, that he was with someone. Instead she averted her gaze back across the table and made small talk with the Rosiers, knowing Rabastan would make the evening far better later. Holding herself together and refusing to laugh at poor Dorian's predicament, Dorcas watched as Tersha sat down beside him. Miss Muffet and her Spider. Of course in this delightful situation Dorian was Miss Muffet and Tersha the spider. She wondered, or rather she hoped, that Dorian would scream and run the hell away, much like the fabled Miss Muffet, but of course he didn't, he was far too composed and gentlemanly to do something like that. Shame, it would have made for quite the entertaining evening, and as if Tersha leaning across him and whispering to Dorcas about some hottie wasn't enough, he then had the awkward small talk of place card font that made Dorcas smirk and then the arrival of his brother and little baby intern opposite him. Oh Merlin, it was almost as if Tersha had planned the seating arrangements herself, purely to get under Dorian's skin! A quick glance at the odd couple and over to the golden toilet brush she'd seen when she and Dorian had first arrived and the hottie she hadn't even noticed earlier. Perhaps he'd ditched the girl, or maybe she'd sought him out. Whatever the situation he was most certainly a hottie, one she'd spotted a couple of times before. She didn't allow her glance to linger on him though, she carried on looking about the table, noticing Evie who also happened to be from the ministry and then looked to Tersha.
Without much thought or consideration for Dorian, Dorcas leant over Dorian's lap as he spoked to his brother and little baby intern once they were seated. "Tersh!" She hissed in a whisper as she slipped her right hand around Dorian's back leaning in towards him while her left hand slid over the top of his left thigh, all the better for leaning. In fairness she attempted to keep her head a little low so as not to completely interrupt Dorian's undoubtedly thrilling conversation with his brother. "Tersh! That's the nightclub hottie!" She said, keeping it so only she a Tersha could actually stand a chance of hearing what was said ... and Dorian of course, but Dorcas was sure he wouldn't mind a little gossip being passed between friends literally right on his lap! Well perhaps he would mind but Dorcas was certain he wouldn't create some kind of scene, it wasn't really his thing. Then again his thing seemed to be losing loved ones so she hoped whatever his thing was didn't happen tonight. She was rather attached to all his loved ones and would rather nothing happen to any of them. "Why the hell is he sat with a golden toilet brush? Or is she some kind of lamp shade? Did I miss some kind of fashion memo?" She was certainly something alright, a right 'look at me' kind of thing. She didn't fit in with the Spring theme but rather stood out like some kind of ugly toe thumb. Perhaps the dress would have been nicer in a different setting, perhaps the dress was nice and Dorcas just lacked the appreciation for it. It would probably have worked better in black and without the sparkles, or the whole thing really.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The eyeroll that his comment about being everyone’s type elicited was minute compared to the otherworldly levels she had managed when showing a disagreement or dismay with anyone else. She couldn’t fault him for his line of thinking and there was a heavy dose of truth in his words. Even Dora herself found herself attracted to her best friend on the odd occasion – those occasions were amplified when she was drunk, but there were a small handful of moments when a sober Dora looked at Fin and thought there may be something more between them. Those brief moments were quickly followed by bouts of laughter and memories from their childhood of Fin doing anything remotely unbecoming or embarrassing. She knew far too much about Fin to ever think him “her type”.
Dora would have much rather stayed on the dancefloor, catching the eye of anyone within a quarter kilometer radius with her glamourous shimmering ballgown as she was spun gracefully around by a handsome man. But too soon the announcement was made that dinner would be served and Dora took Fin’s arm as he offered it and followed the crowd. Assigned seating and they appeared to be surrounded by a bunch of strangers. Dora only faintly recalled the couple across the table from her, a pair of thirty-something gay wizards she had met a few times in passing. Fin asked who she was sat next to and Dora leaned a little to read the decorative card sitting in front of the seat next to her. “Oooh,” she said happily at reading the tidy calligraphy. “Evie. The Minister must like me, not setting me amongst the riff raff. Who’ve you got?” she asked with a little nod to Fin’s left side but before she even had time for her eyes to flick to the man sat beside Fin, Evie’s voice rang out and pulled her attention.
Dora smiled as thanks for the compliment, knowing she deserved it and so much more for her fashionable presence here tonight. “Thank you, lovely. Merlin, I adore your dress,” she gushed, taking it upon herself to lightly feel the pink fabric of Evie’s skirt. “I bet Mr Lestrange couldn’t help but be drawn in by you in this.” Dora raised her eyebrows expectantly, clearly hinting for details as to what Evie had been doing with the newly available Rodolphus Lestrange. Fin might not have wanted Dora throwing herself at his friend, but she had no idea how he would react to his ex sidling up to Mr Tall, Dark, and Wealthy.

Spring Gala Dora took a peek at the name card next to her and broke into a grin. Evie Nott, the one that got away. Actually, scratch that, she wasn't that to Fin at all. She was an ex girlfriend, yes, but he was happy to not be with her any more. She was a good friend, but her ego was too big for his liking in the long term. He also had thought she was prettier than him far too many times, which had irked him at the time. He liked to think he'd matured in the short time that had passed since their whirlwind romance, and that he'd no longer be threatened by a woman's beauty, but he really was just that competitive. Then again, he'd have to get over it sooner or later, since he certainly would not be marrying some wench just so that he could be the better looking partner in their marriage. He needed an equal. A girl that matched him in every way. Just a female version of himself, really, but he imagined that would be hard to find. He was running out of time, he only had a year left to find this miracle girl and put a ring on her finger before his father stepped in and found someone for him. Then again, his father had rather liked Evie, Fin supposed he could deal with her princess-like ways if he had to. The exes had already agreed though that Evie Avery did not roll off the tongue very well. Pushing his romantic failings to the side for the night, Fin curled his lip in distaste when Dora asked who he was sitting next to. "Just some old codger," he said quietly, back turned to the older man. "If he turns out to be a noisy eater, prepare for a scene." There was nothing worse than someone breathing loudly while they ate, or sounding like a cow munching grass when they chewed. Or Merlin forbid, slurping, or having things drip or any other kind of messy activity. Giving a small shudder at the thought, Fin's sapphire eyes, dazzling and dark in the soft light of the dining room, lifted to Evie as she arrived and took her seat, complimenting himself and Dora. He knew he was handsome, but it was always nice to hear from, well, everyone. "Evangeline," he greeted, knowing her full name annoyed her almost as much as his annoyed him. See? Too much competitiveness between them! She fell into conversation with Dora about their dresses, and Fin decided to use the time to scan the table a bit more, making sure to start with the sexy brunette facing. She was whispering with that journalist, Knight, and he smirked. They were so talking about him. What else was there to talk about? The font on the name cards? Not likely! He heard Dora say the name Lestrange, and turned his head to the other end of the table to where Rodolphus was sitting with his brother and Fin's cousin, Lilith. Of course they were sat at the head of the table right next to the Minister. Arse kissers. Fin chuckled to himself. _______________________ tag: Evangeline Lucille Nott, Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Mr. Sophisticated. template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Post by Rabastan Aramis Lestrange on Jun 11, 2018 19:07:34 GMT
Spring Gala Rodolphus fawned over Lilith, trying his best to get under his baby brother's skin, but Rabby shrugged it off. It would be too much of a scandal if Roddy stole his brother's fiance, their family had had enough of a shake up with the divorce for Rodolphus to be foolish enough to deliver another social blow to the Lestrange name. Rabby merely flicked a brow and grinned, nodding down the table to Evie and leaning in to his brother. "I think you'd actually make a pretty good pairing with Miss Nott over there. Think about those heirs, all dark and almost handsome like their father. Don't you think, darling?" He turned his smile to Lilith, who would possibly give Rabastan a fair haired son that looked nothing like him, but either way, he would have a son. Or three. He wouldn't mind a daughter, but three boys sounded nice when he thought about it. Making those three boys also sounded nice, but winter was a long way off yet. If only Rabastan wasn't so loyal, Evie Nott might have at least been of use to one of the brothers. Alas, he wouldn't be straying. Engaged was engaged. His dark gaze swept over the table, giving a small nod to Nick Bellrose opposite, and an appreciative glance - a very, very fleeting one - at Raina Beaumont beside him, before glancing further down the table to where the gregarious journalist Tersha Knight was sat. Beside her was Rabastan's former co-worker Dorian Humbert, and beside Humbert was Meadowes, her hand on Humbert's thigh as she gossiped with Knight. It was a pretty unremarkable picture as far as Rabby was concerned, nobody doing anything unexpected of them, though Dorian looked rather uncomfortable, which made Rabastan shake his head. "Agent Humbert, an Auror. He's a good man." Not that it mattered. Humbert was not a supporter of the Dark Lord, but from what Rabby had gathered from working with him over the years, he tried his best to stay out of such matters altogether, which was better than being one of the many foolish people in the Ministry who liked to spout off about hating the Dark Lord. Humbert had more sense than that, and Rabastan had actually gotten along fairly well with him. "Why do you ask?" he turned back to Rodolphus, curious as to why he had picked Humbert out of the crowd to inquire about. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange , Lilith A. C. Spring Gala Being one of the last to be seated was actually a plus in Julian's book. He got to walk the length of the table and see exactly who was there, and who he would be sitting near. He couldn't have been more delighted to find his brother and Dorcas opposite himself and Lunete, though the look on Lunete's face when she saw Dorian was one of surprise, and possibly worry. Was she embarrassed to be seen with Julian by her mentor? How cute. Jules was far from embarrassed. In fact, he was pleased as punch as he took his seat and settled in, blue eyes twinkling at Dorcas and Dorian. A rather gorgeous brunette was sitting on Dorian's other side, and she and Dorcas kept leaning across the man to chat to each other. Julian wondered who she was, though he supposed they'd have plenty of time for him to find that out as they were forced to stare at each other throughout the entire meal. What a perfect little setup. Julian smiled across the large table at his older brother. "It is pleasant, isn't it," he agreed, and then indicated to the two women flanking Dorian. "And I see you're lucky enough to have two beautiful dates. You must be having one hell of a night." Was Dorian the kind to be into threesomes? Jules would have laughed hysterically at the thought of such an uptight bore of a man being wild in the bedroom, but then he really hadn't known Dorian long enough to properly judge. Maybe good old Agent Humbert had a wild side. He wondered how Lunete would react to knowing something like that. She seemed such an innocent little thing, it was enchanting to think she'd be mortified just to be in earshot of a conversation about it, but here she was, listening to him hint to his brother that he'd be getting lucky with two women tonight. On second thoughts, that might not have been the best move on Julian's part, but he'd said it now, there was no going back, he could only laugh it off as a joke and move on. He glanced at his date to make sure she hadn't withered into her chair with embarrassment, but a head of blonde hair at the opposite end of the table caught his eye, and he found himself looking at Lilith Burke. She was sitting beside some posh prats at the head of the table, right where she belonged, but Julian flashed a hint of a smile at her before turning away. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn , Dorian Michael Humbert , Dorcas Amilie Meadowes and Tersha Alara Knight notes: <3 outfit: Sexy springy hottie! template by izzy [googlefont="Dancing Script"]

Spring Gala Being as boring as he could possibly be, Dorian spoiled his good lucks by having the banter of a cardboard box. Oh, well, it didn't matter, he was still the most handsome man in the room. Well, he had competition. First there was Nightclub Hottie, and then some guy sat opposite them and Tersha couldn't help but give him come to bed eyes without even realising she was doing it. Holy hotness! She leaned across Dorian's lap as Dorcas hissed at her about the cutie checking her out. "Ohh, I didn't recognise him because of the blinding glitter on his arm. I think the poor tot next to him had an accident in art class," she said sincerely, thinking that it wouldn't be a far reach to say the girl beside Nightclub Hottie was around six years old, and loved to get the glitter out at school. "Somebody sit her on top of a Christmas tree already." She rolled her eyes and leaned up to give Dorian a few seconds to breathe. She was brash, but she wasn't a complete heathen. Five seconds later she dived back in. It was all she could wait before she just had to ask. "Who is the delicious hunk of sex facing us?" she demanded of Dorcas, turning to Dorian and staring right into those lovely dark eyes. "Julian?" she whispered. She leaned back across to Dorcas. "The brother? Is that the brother? He's edible!" So edible that Tersha would have loved nothing more than to crawl across the table to him and rip that suit off of him in front of everyone. Nobody likely would have stayed to see what happened next, but Tersha wouldn't have been aware of anyone else at that point anyway. She bit her lip, eyes on the hunk across the table. Julian. Julian what? She hadn't even asked Dorcas what his last name was when she'd been told about Dorian's rogue younger brother coming into town. For a journalist that was poor form, but she'd been more interested in asking if he looked like Dorian, and if he was single at the time. And what was with all the gorgeous men having ridiculously young little dolls as their dates tonight!? Merlin's beard, these men needed to give themselves a slap and find real women to spend their time with. Or just Tersha. She'd keep them all company. _______________________ tag: Dorcas Amilie Meadowes , Dorian Michael Humbert and everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Hot little flower. template by izzy[googlefont="Homemade Apple"]
