PERSONALITY Boggart: Losing her status that she has worked so hard to build up her entire life. Being alone for the rest of her life. Being unloved. Mirror of Erised: To keep her parents fortune. To put her ambition to good use and eventually be promoted through the ranks to become Editor in Chief of the Daily Prophet. Patronus: Polar Bear - Tersha's happiest memory is the day she got to finally go to Hogwarts. Not for any of the usual exciting reasons other kids have, but because she finally got to be somewhere she felt like she belonged. Instead of being at home, raised by a nanny and whoever else worked for her parents, she got to be at the castle, making her own way in life, with actual friends and people she could form bonds with. Tersha Knight is a force to be reckoned with. She is impossible to ignore, and almost as impossible to deny. She is confident, bossy, charismatic, flirtatious, charming, ambitious, and a complete bitch. Yes, most of the qualities that are visible on the surface are bad ones, unfortunately. She is bitchy and has a seriously sharp tongue. She won't hesitate to tell you what she thinks of you, or make cutting comments that might upset you. She thinks it, she says it. This can be put down to lacking tact in some cases, but other times it is just her temper coming through. She is a fierce one, and if you get on her bad side she will make life hell for you, and won't hesitate to either hex you, have verbal sparring matches in public with you, or make you a complete social outcast. Or all three. She is smart, and very ambitious, and almost was sorted into Slytherin only she was too feisty. She knows what she wants, and she won't hesitate to walk all over everyone to get it, yes, even those people who think she's their friend. She can be ruthless and cold, cut-throat and manipulative, wicked and selfish, but rest assured, she will always be all of these things to your face rather than behind your back. She is anything but underhand, and she will always let you know where you stand with her, whether it's good or bad, so you don't need to worry about her gossiping behind your back. She is loud and brash, and a spoiled brat, but above all else.... Tersha is lonely. She has never really known the kind of love most kids get from their parents, and she is used to being abandoned, and treated like hand luggage when she is invited along and included in things, so she always tried her best to make sure that never happened to her at Hogwarts, and that she would always be invited and wanted, something she has managed to take into adulthood with her, and she's become a pretty good judge of character when it comes to who to surround herself with so that she gets the kind of welcoming interactions she needs from people. She is a very loving person, and has the potential to be a very powerful source of good, if only she feels comfortable enough to let people see the more vulnerable sides of her. There are a small handful of very close friends that she has made during her school years, and these people get to see the good, affectionate, warm-hearted Tersha that longs to take over. She is exceptionally loyal, and will defend her friends to the ends of the earth, and she will give them anything and everything she has if she thinks they need it. She's very generous and kind to these people, or others who have the potential to set her at ease in that way. She's very fun-loving, with everyone, and is always up for a good party and dancing. She's very flirtatious, and knows how to let her hair down, so she's definitely someone people go to for a bit of fun as she's not scared to let loose. Others: None Tersha Alara Knight was born on a windy, bustling May afternoon, the only child of Delphina and Bacchus Knight, she is descendant from the famous creators of the Knight Bus, and heir to their fortune. She was named specifically as the third member of their little family, her name deriving from the Latin for "third", Tertius. Her parents weren't exactly naturals when it came to kids, so they immediately hired help, deciding that it was more trouble than it was worth, and they wouldn't be having any more children. When she was only six months old, they moved from London to New Mexico in America, and set up a life there. They spoiled Tersha rotten, of course, thinking that money and material things were a good replacement for time, love, and affection. Tersha never really knew any different, apart from the love and affection she was shown by the staff at her house. She grew up to be demanding, holding her hand out to daddy whenever she wanted something, and usually getting it without much of a fight. Anything to keep her happy and out of the way, right? She wasn't stupid, though, and she was far from a robot, and by the time she was five years old, Tersha knew what true sadness felt like, as she realized that her parents really just weren't that interested in her. It cut deep, and she carried the wound around with her every day. It is possibly what has shaped her to be the confident, bossy, ambitious person she is today. Her attitude a desperate bid to try and prevent anyone from ever treating her that way ever again, and maybe a way for her to not have to keep that influence in her own adult life. She never really saw her home as "home", as it was cold, and empty most of the time, and she counted down the days when she would be able to begin her magical education at Hogwarts. A few months before the start of term, her parents, as they had planned to all along, moved back to London in to their old mansion that they lived in before they became parents, and Tersha had to readjust to the new place and house staff, which was fun. (Not.) Her parents didn't accompany her to King's Cross on 1st September, the butler took her instead, giving her a warm hug before she crossed through the barrier on her own. She never thanked him for that bit of kindness, but he soon became a friend to her, and would send her owls to see how she was doing. She didn't struggle at school like she did at home, though. After being sorted into Gryffindor, she soon stamped down her authority, and made it clear that she was someone who was not to be ignored or messed with, and if you wanted to be anyone, it was an excellent idea to make her your friend. She used her parents money as a weapon, flaunting it to win friends and support, even though she felt like most of her relationships were fake, as she was pretending all along. It soon became normal for her, though, and the act became a reality as she settled in. She was now popular, surrounded by people who wanted to be seen with her, and over time, she managed to make a few really good, genuine friends, who she became loyally attached to, and would do anything for. She promised herself she would do well in school, and get away from the life her parents forced her into. She would have their riches, but she would also have love and warmth in her world. Only from and to those that deserved it, of course. She graduated with quite good grades, and immediately went to the Daily Prophet, talking her way into an internship as a journalist, her quick tongue and confident nature making her perfect for the job. She was blunt and wrote honest articles, not caring what people thought or if anyone would take offence, and she soon got asked to do an advice column in the newspaper on top of her normal stories. Agreeing, Tersha became quite well loved by readers for her cutting advice, such as telling a woman with a cheating husband to "fleece him for all he's worth in the divorce and buy yourself a unicorn because you're fabulous." Building some up so flamboyantly whilst knocking others down ruthlessly became what she was known for, and you either loved her or hated her, but you sure knew who she was. That was what Tersha wanted. To be present in people's lives whether they liked her or not. She soon caught the attention of an older man, a businessman by the name of Thaddeus (or Thad), with money coming out of his arse. Seeing Galleon signs only, Tersha began to date him, and he was smitten from the word go, wooing her with expensive dates and jewels, and eventually proposing after only six months together. Tersha was only 22 at the time, but she agreed to marry him, thinking that his money paired with that of her parents surely couldn't be a bad thing? Plus, he was handsome for an older guy, and bloody brilliant in bed! They were married for two years before he was killed by someone who he had apparently stolen money from. Someone tangled in the mob, whatever that was, had taken him out with the killing curse after a business meeting. Tersha's hands were clean, but they were also now full of Thad's money, which belonged to her as his wife. So now she has her parents riches, and that of her dead husband, and she's been single for two years, having fun, living her life extravagantly, and working her perfect arse off at her job so that one day she might be Editor in Chief for the newspaper.
