PERSONALITY Boggart: This is an area of magic Dorcas finally learnt in her second year after graduating Hogwarts and she had to have an auror (while she was in her auror training) teacher her over the course of the year to beat her boggart. Despite being basic stuff for a student to learn, Dorcas has always had a hard time fighting off a Boggart. Not being in control of her own body or mind is her worst fear and as such the boggart becomes an invisible force that, cannot be seen. It entraps her body (Dorcas assumes with itself) and has her move her arms and legs. Because of this problem she could not reach her wand to vanquish the boggart, instead she's had to learn to cast this spell wandlessly. This spell and some rather basic ones are all she can perform wandlessly. Mirror of Erised: Dorcas sees herself with Tersha, Geralina, and Paris once more for a night out, something she knows she can never get back again but what her heart truly desires. Her cousin alive and everything back to their 'normal'. Patronus: A Korat cat - It used to be a family thing that she doesn't really want to get into right now, and truthfully she wouldn't tell you at all but as it's necessary .... her happiest memory is a fresh one, the night of her 27th birthday with Rodolphus in America. Shut up. Dorcas is a contradiction in a little ball of cuteness. While many people are still discovering themselves, Dorcas is overly analytical of her own personality and what she can and cannot live with. Dorcas is known to have a bit of a sharpe tongue and a quick wit. She's not easily knocked down in a tongue lashing and she knows just what to say to hurt someone and she's not afraid to let loose. She sometimes has problems with knowing when to stop or hold back and as such has given her a reputation of a right little .... ahem, witch. When she's hurting people in a verbal way it's usually because a nerve has been struck. She's quick to anger and aggressive about it too. She's never physically lashed out at someone all though she is much stronger than she appears. While she's angry it's hard to reason with her. She become stubborn and hard to deal with and it doesn't matter if you're a Professor, Friends, Enemy or the gosh darn Minister for Magic, she will not go easy one you. Most of her anger issues do stem from her fear of vulnerability. She worries that if she lets herself show even the slightest bit of what she deems weaknesses, then she will have lost, she will have failed and she will be absolutely mentally destroyed. She has developed a lot of trust issues and as such has closed herself off from a lot of people. She is a talker and appears very open but it's all superficial to her, there's not really anyone that really knows who she is. With saying that Dorcas is extremely accepting of people. She knows she has flaws but she also knows how kick-ass she can be. She loves herself and it shows. Some people would describe her as arrogant and she really doesn't understand the meaning of the word modesty in a sense but she is, fundamentally, a good person, even though she does enjoy judging the fudge out of people she is also extremely compassionate and can take on their worries at the drop of a hat which usually leaves her feeling vulnerable but she finds ways to deal with such emotions, usually with a hex or two. Dorcas also has issues with being rejected, she often takes bigger risks than most, putting herself out there, but if she gets knocked back then she deals with it in epic proportions. Knives and fires have been known to be included in her rampage. Once upon a time a girl with visions with a committed relationship and love, Dorcas found the whole notion entirely shattered as the world around her started to decay and people started dying faster than ever. Dorcas suffered the loss of her cousin, Paris, which further fractured her ideals about commitment and seeing the results of being in a relationship and losing someone, Dorian completely shattered her ideal vision of what a relationship could look like for her. He was an auror and he was alone. No family, no girlfriend. Dorcas knows her life will reflect similarly so rather than fight it and hope for the best, or hope for a happy relationship she now enjoys nights with whomever takes her fancy. Having lost her cousin Dorcas has been in mourning, quick to anger and more often than one would ever have thought. She feels her heart breaking inside but does not cry, she has an inability to express her sorrow through tears and the only way she can feel comfortable releasing her screams that reflect the anguish she feels in her heart is through physical pain. It's the only way she knows she can cry and released emotions that build up and just make her so angry nearly all the time. Dorcas is very driven, strong willed and stubborn. She's loyal to her friends but not to romantic relationships. She can be rude, brash and outright inappropriate but she cares in her own way about the people she lets close to her. There aren't many she considered friends - true friends -but those she does she would risk her life for. Meadowes[googlefont="Shadows Into Light"] Dorcas was born to André and Emily Meadowes on a relatively warm Hallowe'en afternoon. She was their first live born child after many, many years of struggling with infertility and giving up. She was a surprise pregnancy and absolutely cherished by her parents. Both André and Emily worried that perhaps they had been cursed by André's family for marrying into a pureblood family that supported muggle rights. After Dorcas they didn't try again. They contemplated adopting but instead chose to foster children. For all of her life Dorcas had children came in and out of her life. Some she still keeps in contact with and others she doesn't. Some were awesome and some were assbutts. Regardless of who came and went Dorcas was pleased with her childhood, she was proud of her parents for giving other children a place to stop whether it be a couple of days or a couple of years. Dorcas received her letter to Hogwarts and was beyond excited, she couldn't wait to get to Hogwarts. She did her shopping with her mum and dad and was given a pet owl. It was a beautiful barn owl she named Beatle. Dorcas found her ride on the Hogwarts Express thrilling. There were trouble makers and nerds, snobs and way too friendly third years. The boat ride to the castle was magical and the sight of Hogwarts was purely awe-inspiring. It was like a dream come to life. At the sorting ceremony Dorcas was sorted into Slytherin, just like her mother had been. She was excited and couldn't wait to devour the food at the feast! Dorcas' time at Hogwarts flew by. She had plenty of issues being a blood traitor in a blood purist house but she swore and hexed her way through the years, making many enemies in her own house. One particular person she rather despised was the captain of the Quidditch team - Rodolphus Lestrange. He was a blood purist, a brute, but on hell of a quidditch player. Together they made an excellent pair of beaters, continuously in tune with one another on the pitch. During a game in the January of her fifth year, a couple of weeks after the loss of a loved one, Dorcas messed up, missing an easy hit. The bludger had some major consequences for the team - losing a player and the match. Dorcas faced the consequences too from her captain. After the match as everyone was leaving the stands, Rodolphus dragged Dorcas into the change rooms and the nature of their relationship changed. For years Dorcas despised the things she got up to with Rodolphus, what she'd let him do, how far she'd let him go. After he was graduated and she still had a couple of years at Hogwarts, nothing changed. He would find her on Hogsmeade weekends and drag her into bushes or usually toilets. During school holidays he would visit her at her home in secret and she let him. On more than one occasion he stole her away and they'd just spend a weekend screwing each others brains out and keeping conversation superficial, never drawing attention to the fact that they had completely opposing ideals. Dorcas has never had a long term boyfriend, she doesn't see the point in commitment with the life she's chosen for herself. She trained hard to become an auror, completing her training in two rather than the typical three years. Focus, determined and driven she made sure she did her best. During her first two years as a new graduate she was expected to work with a partner. They got on well and Dorcas started working solo a little before the two years of her graduation. On occasion she's worked with a few others around the department. After her graduation from the Auror academy Dorcas was introduced to the Order of the Phoenix by her cousin Paris. Paris was disowned by her parents when she refused to give in to pure blood idealist ideas. She stayed with Dorcas and her parents for three months and the cousins, while always close, became closer than ever. Dorcas came to think of Paris as a sister more than anything else. During her time getting used to the Order she had a one on one talk with Professor Dumbledore. He seemed to know about her relationship with Rodolphus and was rather interested in teaching her to protect her mind. She studied Occlumency with him and she managed it faster than she expected. She was never really much of the emotional kind but she found it easy to shut out her emotions and focus primarily on keeping intruders out. Over time she learnt not only how to keep intruders out but how to let them see what she wanted them to see. She was able to bring up certain memories and certain thoughts, controlling her own mind entirely. A few months after working her first solo cases at the Ministry, Dorcas received some shocking news - she was pregnant. The news was not taken well by Dorcas. She had it all sorted secretly, everything removed and not a word to Rodolphus about it because she knew he was the father and there was no way she was ready for a child let alone with a man she could never be with. A family just isn't in her vision of a future, however it comes there's just no way. After hr abortion she spent a couple of months in Europe, partly for work, mostly just to avoid Rodolphus. She told him it was entirely work related and he seemed to buy it, why wouldn't he? Dorcas loves her job, she has flings with random people a time or two but mostly her needs are still met by Rodolphus. In May 1978, her cousin, Paris, was attacked by Death Eaters, driving Dorcas into a work spiral and forced time off. She focused more on the Order and starting her own work on just who exactly was responsible for Paris' death. A few short months later River entered her life along with her giant Her relationship with Rodolphus somehow evolved. His wife became insanely jealous, making her more insane than ever, and she attacked Dorcas ins Dorcas' own home. Being a skilled Auror and fighter in general, Dorcas defended herself and Bellatrix perished. An investigation was held but it was short-lived. Dorcas likes to think that it was all rather apparent what had played out, however she feels that coin exchanged hands and Rodolphus paid for the investigation to come to a quick end, not that Dorcas cares all too much. Despite their days sharing a dorm at Hogwarts, there was never any love lost between the women. Deep down Dorcas always felt as though if Bellatrix had not been in the picture, then perhaps she could have possibly had a proper future with Rodolphus. Better late than never, right? Wrong. Dorcas used her connection with Rodolphus to make her way into the Death Eaters. After all her years of training as an Auror as well as many lessons under Albus Dumbledore, Dorcas was a skilled occlumens. She's determined to find Paris' killer and it has thrown her into the belly of the beast. She bares a Dark Mark on her left forearm and she has carried out all sorts of deeds to prove her loyalty. It weighs on her conscious but she carries on, feeding information to Dumbledore. As if she didn't have enough on her plate, Dorcas has had to carry on with her life as though everything were completely normal. She became engaged to Rodolphus, although she refused to do any wedding planning, leaving that up to her self-appointed maid of honour - Tersha. It was decided that Dorcas and Rodolphus would have children. Rodolphus wanted a male heir, for some sodding reason, and Dorcas agreed, but she refused to be pregnant. Her eggs were taken and magic was involved in creating not one but two little lives that now grow in a surrogate body. Perhaps it was a little too much for Dorcas to discover the news that she and Rodolphus would be having twins, but she threw herself into her work. One terrible night resulted in a werewolf attack on the auror and she barely escaped with her life. Left with scars on her right forearm and across her back, Dorcas will forever be reminded of the night. One might think that such an attack would give her cause to slow down and take life easier, but no, she's more driven than ever to carry on and find her cousin's killer as well as topple the whole Death Eater regime, even if it means taking out one death eater at a time to do so, it will be done.
