There it was, only brief but unmistakable. Pity. She covered it quickly but it was too late, Jasper had seen it and he was surprised Leo hadn't mentioned anything about it. Then again, Leo also hadn't mentioned the date was going to be at a bookshop, surrounded by what seemed like 30 or so children. "Is that her?" He asked, lowering his head a little and nodding his head in the direction of a woman dressed as a fairy, heading their way. He wasn't all that sure that Neve's promise of a good day was going to be accurate.

Oh good Merlin. They were going inside. Jasper looked up at the shop with a smile and back to Neve, "It looks to be an impressive shop, I feel as though spend half my life in books shops." He chuckled, instantly regretting coming across as a giant nerd, though the linked arm made him feel a little more relaxed. With any luck this part of the date would be over quickly and they'd be off getting ice cream or something equally delicious in minutes. He wanted to assure her that he only went on blind dates because Leo insisted (and he had a real problem with saying 'no' to just about everyone) but she was surprised he wasn't snapped up by now. Jasper looked about the shop, feigning a small laugh, thoughts rushing through his mind as to whether he should tell her he'd been married before or if it was something best left alone at this point. He didn't like thinking of his wife but on the other hand he didn't want to seem as though he was hiding anything, "Actually, I'm a widower." He said moving on quickly so that hopefully he'd avoid any questions or worse; sympathy, "Leo likes to think he's looking out for me by setting me up and it's hard to refuse that man sometimes." He chuckled once more, getting the feeling that there was something going on that he hadn't yet been told about.

Managing to catch the eye of a waitress, Jasper shuffled between seats until he got to her. He smiled apologetically and put in a request for a fork. She told him to just wait there and she nipped into the kitchen. Jasper felt the need to fidget to avoid thinking about that stare. Had that been something? It didn't matter, even if it had been something it couldn't ever actually be something, so he started to wiggle his toes methodically inside of his shoes. He tried not to let that draw attention to him but tried to reason with himself that nobody would notice, it wouldn't draw anyone's attention. His mind got the better of him. What would someone think, or even say, if they saw him with wriggly shoes? He knew it was most unlikely that anyone would be looking at his shoes, but just in case they were, he didn't want them thinking he was completely insane so he took a breath and calmed his toes, although that really made him want to tap his feet. Thankfully the waitress came back with a fork. Jasper nodded his head and thanked her kindly and made his way back to the table, sitting at his seat and noticing a good portion of the yule log was already missing. "Fork." He said, holding it up as though he was a proud three year old, showing of some shiny treasure, with a bit of a 'oh my Merlin, I'm such a twit' chuckle, although he hoped that his little laugh didn't come off that way at all. "How is it?" He asked, hesitating for a moment before dipping his fork into the yule log, pulling away a modest size of chocolatey goodness.

Jasper had turned up far too early but rather than go in, he spent a good twenty minutes waiting on the outskirts of the property's boundaries and just passed the time thinking to himself, occasionally letting out a few comments here and there, but that wasn't bothering anyone, after all there was no one around to bother. Still, he'd known that he couldn't stay outside all night and he eventually had made his way inside. He was very glad that Dorcas was busy elsewhere and he only had to briefly chat with her parents before he was put to work helping to decorate the place. He didn't mind at all, it was better than having Dorcas drag him into a bedroom and ask him which outfit made her arse look better - something she'd forced him to do before and he'd nearly fainted - and besides, he was in her home, he did not fancy her husband coming home and ripping him to shreds for staring at his wife's arse! Jasper very much liked being in one piece, thank you very much!

Once the decorations were up people started arriving and Jasper happily chatted to Emily and Andre until it was time to hide. He snuck around the corner, following Andre and Emily and waited in silence. That was right up until someone exceedingly close to him farted. Jasper was mortified. The smell was directly in front of him and he knew that it could only be one of two people. Still he said nothing and made a mental note to bleach his skin the second he could slip away. Standing as still as he ever had, not even the slightest giggle escaping, he waited for the birthday boy to arrive, silence falling once more over the group that had finally stopped sniggering at the fart like schoolchildren.

Leo's set ups hadn't been the greatest. Jasper appreciated that his mate didn't want him to be lonely, but Jasper wasn't all that great at dating, to be fair. He could be awkward, he could be too nice, he could be too much of himself. Apparently that could be quite off putting and didn't deserve a second chance. Still, for some reason Leo kept trying, and as long as Leo kept trying to set Jasper up, Jasper would continue going on dates with girls Leo thought were 'the one'.

Today was an odd day for a date, Jasper thought. He didn't know much about his date for this morning beyond her being Leo's cousin and that they were meeting at a bookshop in Godric's Hollow. Jasper had been there for five minutes, waiting out the front of the store, looking about for Neve based on the description Leo had given him, but honestly, he was beginning to think that he had the wrong place, especially when families started walking in with their children in costumes. What was this place and what in the heck was going on? Jasper was beginning to wonder if this was some kind of prank that Leo was playing on him but he quickly brushed that thought aside, knowing that Leo wouldn't be so mean. So Jasper waited, patiently, for his date to arrive. If 'date' was even the right word. It was nearing ten thirty in the morning. That wasn't exactly 'date' time.

A better present? Well it would probably be difficult to get something worse in all fairness, but Jasper would never admit that, especially not to Geralina. "Forgive me, but I highly doubt there could ever be anything more suitable. This gift just screams 'Jasper Flint'." He laughed, piping up as they were approached by a waitress, or owner? Was that Madam Puddifoot? Jasper felt foolish for not knowing, but that didn't last as she confused them for a couple. Jasper could feel himself blush a little but he just cleared his throat and followed her to a table, "Thank you." He smiled. Once she'd left he unfolded his jacket from over his arm and hung it over the back of a chair that he then sat on. "It is," he said, picking up a menu and opening it up, "They always seem to go the extra mile in here." He said, although it was a touch too far when you were just here with a friend, Jasper thought, "What drink goes well with a yule log, then?" He asked, glancing over the menu in search of the drinks.
