Hey Cuz

All he had wanted was a little bit of ice cream and perhaps a chat with his cousin. In the past that was not considered a tall order but as of late he seemed to be gaining a rather small but quite insistent following. Despite the fact that he was dating Echo and perfectly happy in the relationship, it was flattering to have girls fawning over him. Ollie blushed and stammered his way through an awkward greeting and requests for photographs and autographs. He tried several times to excuse himself but they had him surrounded and Ollie could feel the heat rising in his face. Mercifully, Donny swooped in to rescue him. “Yeah, the back sounds good.” Anything to get him away from the fangirls. Ollie brushed his hair back as he left the disappointed girls behind, having practically forgotten about his ice cream in all the rush. “Maybe you can moonlight as my bodyguard,” Ollie joked.

A rainbow sherbet was just sitting on the counter, abandoned in the hassle of having to save his cousin from his rabid but adoring fans. Ollie took the liberty of saving Donny the trouble and snatched up his ice cream cone as he followed his cousin into the back of the shop. “Oh, Roma would be a bloody brilliant body guard,” he agreed. “Although, a bit terrifying, if we’re being honest. Best not to give her any ideas,” he added with a laugh between licks of his sherbet. Donny cleared a space for him, and Ollie thanked him silently by hopping onto the freezer and carrying on their conversation, uninterrupted. “Actually, I wanted to give you something.” Ollie shifted on the freezer, leaning to the left so that he could dig into his right trouser pocket, balancing his ice cream cone as if he were a human scale. From his pocket, Ollie pulled out a small, plastic container that looked like it had once tried to be a sphere but got tired halfway through and gave up. Inside the oddly shaped container was a little figurine of a wizard in quidditch robes, holding onto a broom, and looking thoroughly underwhelmed at having spent a good 30 minutes stuffed in Ollie’s pocket. “I met Hans Schmidt last week when we played the Heidelberg Harriers. Thought you might want to add him to your collection.”

"Sure. That'll be any day now," he said with a laugh. Ollie might have been a professional, and sure, some fans could recognize him out of his quidditch robes, but that didn't make Ollie Devereaux a sports star. He worked very hard to fly under the radar while maintaining his position on the pro teams. It was a lot more work than Ollie made it seem, though to be fair no one knew he was inhibiting any vampiric-reflexes on the pitch. He was more than happy to stay out of the limelight, even if it meant that no one, beyond Donny, had even mentioned the idea of making a figurine of his likeness.

"Maybe if I asked them to...” he chuckled, promptly swirling his tongue around his melting cone after it began dripping onto his hand. “Or maybe I’ll just get an ice cream flavor in my honor... now who do I know in the ice cream business who could make that happen?” he asked facetiously. He probably had a few teammates who would like that little perk, but Ollie wasn’t at all being serious. He already got free ice cream most anytime he wanted, he didn’t need to go around blowing up his ego by eating his own flavor. Besides, he didn't like nuts in ice cream, and if there were ever an Oliver Devereaux flavor it was bound to have nuts in it.
