As Echo pulled her dress off, revealing her bikini underneath, Ollie let out of a loud wolf whistle which was hard to do from his backfloat position without his head sinking under the water just enough that he accidentally took a mouthful. He coughed and spat the water out, beginning to laugh at himself as Echo asked his opinion on her best way to enter the pool. As if there was any question. “Crazy mermaid! The crazier the better!” He rolled his head to the side in order to see her better as he floated, ready to watch his graceful mermaid flop about.

"Sure. That'll be any day now," he said with a laugh. Ollie might have been a professional, and sure, some fans could recognize him out of his quidditch robes, but that didn't make Ollie Devereaux a sports star. He worked very hard to fly under the radar while maintaining his position on the pro teams. It was a lot more work than Ollie made it seem, though to be fair no one knew he was inhibiting any vampiric-reflexes on the pitch. He was more than happy to stay out of the limelight, even if it meant that no one, beyond Donny, had even mentioned the idea of making a figurine of his likeness.

Kit had pulled them both in for a tight bear hug and Ollie fought desperately against the urge to ramble and joke about not being able to breath. Kit was finally acting like a supportive brother and Ollie knew exactly how hard that was for him, because it was impossibly hard for Ollie himself! Their baby sister was knocked up and on track to end up just like Dora, which was the most depressing thought at the moment, but Ollie shoved those thoughts down deep, right next to the line about how Kit was acting like Lenny and the bunny. More suppressed thoughts joined soon enough as Sera admitted the baby’s father was just a random bloke from a new years eve party. Ollie felt sick, but he kept a cool expression on his face for Sera’s sake.

A rainbow sherbet was just sitting on the counter, abandoned in the hassle of having to save his cousin from his rabid but adoring fans. Ollie took the liberty of saving Donny the trouble and snatched up his ice cream cone as he followed his cousin into the back of the shop. “Oh, Roma would be a bloody brilliant body guard,” he agreed. “Although, a bit terrifying, if we’re being honest. Best not to give her any ideas,” he added with a laugh between licks of his sherbet. Donny cleared a space for him, and Ollie thanked him silently by hopping onto the freezer and carrying on their conversation, uninterrupted. “Actually, I wanted to give you something.” Ollie shifted on the freezer, leaning to the left so that he could dig into his right trouser pocket, balancing his ice cream cone as if he were a human scale. From his pocket, Ollie pulled out a small, plastic container that looked like it had once tried to be a sphere but got tired halfway through and gave up. Inside the oddly shaped container was a little figurine of a wizard in quidditch robes, holding onto a broom, and looking thoroughly underwhelmed at having spent a good 30 minutes stuffed in Ollie’s pocket. “I met Hans Schmidt last week when we played the Heidelberg Harriers. Thought you might want to add him to your collection.”

“Chips are a given.” Ollie, Echo, London, and Johnny all crowded around the food table, filling their plates. Ollie wasn’t ashamed to pile his sky high, knowing at least one of the ladies would, at some point, pick off his plate when instead of getting up from wherever they would plant themselves to get a second helping. It happened every time without fail. “Those types don’t eat,” Ollie said softly to Johnny as he asked where Liv was headed off to. Ollie knew Liv and knew the type of girl she hung out with; more tolerable that some lot but really focused on their waistline. It was a real shame because this food was delicious. “Mmmm,” he offered his ineloquent appreciation for the potato salad he’d snuck a bit of while piling pickles on his burger. “Oh yeah. Good show this year, man,” he said to Leo, who probably wouldn’t remember him considering it had a been over a year since their paths had last crossed. “Shall we?” he asked of Echo, ready to park it under an umbrella near the pool and properly dig in.

Ollie smirked as Echo softly voiced his exact thoughts, but unlike the pretty blonde, Ollie knew for a fact Kit was going to hear her remark. His gruff growl came right on schedule. “I’ll buy you more next time I do the shopping,” Ollie protested, complete with a juvenile eyeroll. “It’s only popcorn.” And soda on every surface in the room, and greasy crisp bags littered about, and…. Deciding that Echo’s wand was in fine working order, Ollie found his own wand and began clearing the sticky mess, starting with the couch. He hadn’t planned that well at all, because as soon as the cushions were clear, little drops began to appear again. “Ugh,” Ollie groaned loudly. “Ceiling first, ceiling first.” He pointed his wand up and cleared the coke above them, stopping the brown rain from falling on anything else they cleaned up. He looked to Echo apologetically. “Never a dull moment with us, eh?”

Of the group Lo had patched together for the day, Ollie was the only BBQ veteran. Or, at least veteran for this particular BBQ. She’d brought him along last year, along with Dora who’d been invited properly this year, so he felt fairly confident this time around that he wouldn’t be underdressed again. He knew the lay of the land as well as any of them, but he wasn’t really the sort to get too bogged down in feeling out of place. That was probably because he nearly always felt a little awkward for one reason or another, especially around attractive ladies such as the ones London had invited as her plus ones. The prettiest of them all, however, was his own girlfriend, whom he’d picked up before apparating to Lo’s healer friend’s home. “Massive pool,” Ollie explained to Echo, describing what he remembered of the BBQ the year prior. “Right on a sodding lake. Who needs a pool and a lake?! Not that I’m complaining, mind you.” London and the rest of the group had gathered on the front drive. “Hey,” Ollie shouted at them, raising his arm and giving a big wave. “I was just telling Echo how massive this place is.” He looked around at the other ladies, then at Echo, then London. “We waiting for anyone else?”
