A girl that wasn't afraid of carbs? Okay, that was pretty awesome. Most girls that Jake had dated were all about salads, sometimes they'd even get some dressing if they were feeling adventurous, but bread? Full on carbs? That was laughable! He'd once witnessed Regina throw a salad in a waiter's face because there had been croutons in her salad. Jake had just shovelled his steak into his mouth and enjoyed the show, or what there was of it until Regina had them leave. She was a drama-bitch, he was pretty glad when he'd found out she'd up and run off with that Black traitor. "I could go for a good sandwich." He said with a smile, offering his arm to escort her from the museum.

The day might have started off a bit rocky, what with Jacob’s rather silent appreciation of the works they had looked at, but things seemed to be progressing much more amicably now. Amy still wasn’t certain about the idea of an arranged marriage, but Jacob was polite enough, and good looking. She took his arm with a soft smile as they left the museum. Amy tried to keep the conversation going as they walked the short distance to the café. “Do you get a chance to travel much?” The Greengrasses traveled regularly as a family, but Amelia had found less opportunities as of late and instead had been focused on building her career. She missed it though, and had plans to take a trip in the near future, though the specifics had yet to be sorted out.

Amy was incredibly delicate, Jake barely noticed when she took his arm. He escorted her past the crowds and out of the museum, no doubt everyone board shitless, ready to run away from all the boring things in the museum. Paintings, sculptures, other things he couldn't even remember. There was no point going to a museum, now a quidditch match, that was where the excitement was at. "With my current job I travel around the country a fair bit, but I don't have much time for overseas travels, but if I get that promotion in the next year or so, then that'll change. I'll be able to have more time off outside of quidditch season." Jake liked a good holiday, he had been away a few times with his mates and caused quite a stir, but he imagined a holiday with Amy would probably be a chore. She'd probably want to see some old statues, visit other boring museums rather than go out clubbing and getting wasted every night and sleeping all day. "What about you? Does your job allow you time to travel the globe?" Was 'globe' the right word? A globe was a round thing you kept in a study, right? It sounded wrong but it had just slipped out. Maybe she wouldn't think too stupidly of him for one little slip up, he'd managed to pull off an afternoon at the museum, even though he knew nothing about what he was looking at. He should have just said 'world' because that was definitely the right word.

She supposed traveling around the country was fine, for now, but she frowned internally at the idea that even if Jacob earned his desired promotion their future plans would be scheduled around some sports itinerary. She certainly wasn’t in any position herself to go off galivanting around the world whenever she so pleased, but she had hopes to move up to something with a little more allowance for travel. It would be improper to travel as a married woman without her husband, or perhaps she was thinking too much like her parents and not of societal standards of the day. Her parents, as progressive as they were, had instilled traditional values in their children – save perhaps Triss, but the world progressed forward and so would she. “Not lately, no. Sadly.” They reached the café and Amy paused to allow Jacob to open the door for her, though she continued their conversation. “I was thinking about taking a trip later this year, possibly Lima, though that’s not really solidified yet. The museums there are supposed to be lovely and the nightlife is... well, I’ve heard stories I definitely wouldn’t want repeated in front of my parents.” Amy gave a small laugh.

It seemed to Jake that Amy like to travel. She talked about it a lot, although Lima? Was she a moron? That was a type of bean, not a place, and she was pronouncing it all weird. At least she was hot, she didn't have to be too smart, and being his wife he didn't want her being too much smarter than him anyway, although his ears perked as she described that night life, he couldn't give a crap about the museums, though. He opened the door to the little place down the road from the museum where they were going to eat, letting Amy go first, "You'll have to tell me all about it when they're not around. Who are you maybe going with, or will you be flying solo?" He didn't like the idea of her going alone, she wasn't really his betrothed yet, but that didn't mean he couldn't be concerned for her welfare, and it was especially concerning considering she thought the place was called "Lima", like what country even was that?!

"I might go with a girlfriend, though I’d be perfectly fine traveling alone if it worked out that way.” Amy wasn’t the sort that needed to be around people all the time, or couldn’t do something by herself for fear of judgement. She was perfectly contented by herself, which was how she found herself in the predicament she was in now with Jacob. She hadn’t given any thought to a long-term relationship and so her parents had done the thinking for her. She looked at him again as the hostess confirmed it was just the two of them for lunch and guided them to an open table. At least he was attractive for being older, even if Amelia could see some lines on his forehead that worried her. She studied his hairline as she smiled, forgetting to pay attention to whatever it was he was saying now.

Travelling with a girlfriend? A girlfriend? Was she? Was she a lesbian? With multiple girlfriends!? Jake hadn't been told anything at all about that but he was certainly envisioning many, many different scenarios where their mutual interests would make for quiet possibly the best marriage in all of existence. Shit, he might actually be the luckiest guy in the freakin universe! There was no way he could screw this up with her, he had to marry this one. "That sounds absolutely incredible, I've always admired different cultures and their traditions," He said, spouting absolute nonsense, "There's so much to learn about the world and experiencing those cultures first hand would just be a blessing." He didn't believe a word of what he was saying, he barely even understood it, but if there was a hot lesbian wife on the line, you could damn well bet he was going to give this his all.

Jacob’s enthusiasm for other cultures was enough to draw Amelia out of her own thoughts about whether Jacob’s hair was going to thin and if she was going to end up with a bald husband or worse; someone who wore a toupee. Even magical hairpieces were easily identifiable, and she couldn’t play wife to someone wearing a rug. Thankfully for Jacob, she brought fully back into the conversation and any concern over his thinning hairline would be left to be inspected at a later time. “I completely agree. Books are wonderful tools, but they’re no substitution for hands-on experiences. Who would choose to look at pictures of, say, the pyramids over visiting them in person?” Amelia shook her head, knowing it was absurd that anyone would choose not to have real-world cultural exposure. The hostess placed a pair of menus on the table between them and explained that their water would be by shortly. Amy passed the top menu to Jacob and pulled the other closer to her, opening it and scanning the assorted treats on offer.

A hot lesbian wife was something worth suffering for. Jake couldn't recall what Amy's friends looked like but he had absolute confidence that they would be just as hot as her, if not hotter. Well probably not hotter, not to him at least because if he had a hot, lesbian wife, then you'd better believe she was the hottest lesbian in the entire damned universe! "I completely agree." He said, nodding his head as he took a menu, "So you say the bread's good here?" He wasn't a complete moron, he recalled what she'd said about five, maybe ten minutes ago, "So what would you recommend?" He said, peering over the menu, figuring women liked to boss others around and if he took her opinion on something, even as trivial as food, then maybe she'd think he was that crappy listening type of bloke that ladies seemed to like and maybe that would leave him one step closer to being a man with a crazy hot, lesbian wife!

Amy was liking Jacob the more they talked, and while they would still need at least a few more dates before she agreed to anything long-term, it seemed like he could be a good fit as far as arranged marriages were concerned. “I enjoy their pumpernickel, but the focaccia is good, too. I think I’ll probably have the turkey on pumpernickel.” If she were out with Jovi she might have also ordered a slice of pie to split but she didn’t want to look like a pig in front of a man.

Pumpernickel. Jake held back a laugh. That was such a stupid name for some bread. Like what was it trying to do, impress the croissants or something? Well it definitely wasn't as fancy as a croissant. It was more like the brother of rye and that was just kind of eh. Still if it was what she recommended then Jake was going to give the non-fancy bread a try, "I'll go with the pumpernickel too." He said with a smile, "Though I think I'll have roast beef and some mustard." He couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a bit of red meat, but he wasn't surprised at all that Amy would be having a girly meat.

Amy smiled into her menu as Jacob took up her suggestion of pumpernickel bread. It was a small thing, but if he was open to listening to her ramble on at the museum earlier and now was taking into consideration her suggestions, he was clearly amenable to input meaning he hopefully wouldn’t be one of those prats who thought a witch’s best feature was her silence. It was one of the things she most detested about high society, though she would never have admitted such a thing to anyone in her family’s social circle, but there were far too many women perfectly contented to stay at home and raise children, letting their husbands make all the decisions in their lives for them. That most certainly would not be Amelia and she hoped that she could believe what she was seeing in Jacob was truly himself, that he wouldn’t want her from little more than a trophy.
Their food came out quickly enough, as sandwiches rarely took long at all, but Amy filled their wait with conversation of future travel plans and suggestions for locations Jacob might find of interest based on the little she knew of him thus far. She spoke more than he did, but when he did speak his thoughts were perfectly in tune with Amelia’s. It almost seemed too good to be true but as they left the café Amy surprised even herself by accepting his offer of another date. Her parents would be pleased at least, and if she was seriously going to entertain this arranged marriage thing, then she was most certainly going to get to know her soon-to-be-fiancée before making anything official.
