Amelia Margaret Greengrass
PERSONALITY Boggart: Herself, aging and shriveling up then turning to a pile of dust Mirror of Erised: Amelia would see herself in an enormous library, full of priceless pieces of art, and beside a handsome husband (who she innately knows is the smartest bloke around). Patronus: Marsh Harrier - This is something Amelia studied from an early age, finally insisting her father hire her a private tutor over the summer holidays between her fifth and sixth year. To summon her patronus, Amelia remembers her first visit to the National Library of the Czech Republic and how excited she felt at being surrounded by such history and beauty. Amelia has always been very competitive. Her older sister, Elizabeth, was highly intelligent and as such Amelia strived to surpass the high bar Lizzie had set for her younger siblings in school. Unlike her older sister, Amelia was delighted to learn she'd been sorted into Ravenclaw. Most of the Greengrass and Rosier family had been Slytherin alum, and while they might be a cunning sort, they weren't nearly as smart as Amelia thought herself to be. The sorting hat shouting out 'RAVENCLAW' simply proved her assumptions to be true. Amelia learned to read at an early age, and her mother often complained that she spoke far too well for a child her age. She wears these two facts now as a badge of honor around the Greengrass Manor. In fact, she had practically shouted it from the rafters when she learned she had not been made Head Girl in her seventh year. While highly intelligent and generally level headed, Amelia does have a tendency to get heated from time to time. It is not overly common, but one would not want to be in the immediate vicinity of her rage. Lucky for most, Amelia is generally a happy girl; kind to her friends with a bit of a sassy mouth. She doesn't mind stating a disagreeing fact, especially if the other person is clearly wrong, but she is also open to learning and does not necessarily assume that she knows everything about every subject - that's the point of continued studying! Taking after her mother in a way, Amelia is an artist. A painter. Holidays are often spend either in museums and libraries, or out roaming about looking for inspiration for her next piece. If she ever finds herself stuck - emotionally or academically, painting helps to alleviate the blockage. A pretty witch from a wealthy pureblooded family is bound to catch the eye of quite a few blokes at school. Amelia has had several boyfriends, though none lasting longer than about seven months or so. She would like to find a romantic partner to settle down with, as she is more than aware that she could be auctioned off as prized meat for her lineage and genetic superiority, and she'd rather it not come down to her mum and dad picking a husband for her. She is, however, quite picky and won't go out with just anyone. Having pure blood is a requirement, of course, but he should also be intelligent and it wouldn't hurt for him to be nice to look at, as well. The pair dated in school, but being the artistic type, Lucy was prone to passing fancies. Her parents worried that Lucy's interest in Xavier would wane and they didn't hold much stock in the teenage relationship. Xavier, however, was confident in their love. He asked Lucy's father for his blessing and for Lucy's hand in marriage but the Rosiers were still wary. Ever persistent, Xavier spoke with his own parents, pleading with them to talk sense into the Rosiers. Some negotiating did the trick, and the Rosiers gave their blessing. Xavier and Lucy were married in the spring of 1957, and they had their first child early the following year. It wasn't until three years later that our little Amelia was born. The third child in a family of seven, Amelia was showered with love and affection. Her parents, though tired from raising seven children (as much as any wealthy parents raise their children) always urged Amelia to follow her dreams. Lucy, a trained artist, and rather bohemian for a socialite, encouraged all her children in the arts. The girls were trained in singing, dance, piano, and painting. Amelia enjoyed the latter more so than the others and she enjoyed learning the history of art as well. An intellectual artist, her mum would call her. It was really no surprise that when she was sent off to Hogwarts, her parents promptly received an owl stating she'd been sorted into Ravenclaw like her older sister, Elizabeth. On school holidays, the family would travel to any of their many luxurious holiday homes; Xavier Greengrass being a real estate investor had not only made the family quite wealthy, but also afforded them several options for travel. From a young age, Amelia was most often enamored with their home in Prague. She loved the history of the city, and all of the wonders it had to offer. Amelia frequented the National Library there, as well as the museums. Her mother was really rather pleased at how much Amelia seemed to want to learn about the artistic beauty of wherever they happened to be holidaying. She had wanted to travel by herself but her parents wouldn't hear of it until she was older, and apparently with six other children to worry about they forgot to fulfill that promise. Throughout school, Amelia had always been top of her class. She did well in all the standard courses and when the time came to choose her own lessons, she opted for some of the more difficult subjects, wanting to challenge herself. She made prefect several years in a row and was disheartened to find she'd not been made Head Girl her final year. That honor had gone to her long time friend, Jovian Rowle, and while Amelia was happy for her friend, she also stormed about the decision in private to her family.
