Dark brown eyes scanned the crowd. D couldn’t see the Death Eaters anywhere but she knew, if their intel was correct, where they would be heading. She’d followed them this far but why they were passing through Diagon Alley was a mystery to D. She disapparated from the rooftop she was on and hit the cobblestone path, walking as though she’d been a part of the crowd the whole time. The sun was high overhead and the white clouds scarce. It was a warm day and certainly a sign that summer was coming. Unfortunately there were more pressing matters on D’s mind. She didn’t have the time to think of what she might do in the Summertime, she was busy looking out for two Death Eaters she was supposed to be keeping an eye on. The numbers of the Order seemed to be half that of the Death Eaters, possibly far, far less in fact, but with Dumbledore heading the Order they were able to be strategic. With Order members in the Magical Law Enforcement department they were able to have eyes and ears inside the ministry but not only that, they also had eyes and ears inside the Death Eater ranks themselves, a major advantage that the Death Eaters did not have.
D caught a glimpse of on of the Death Eaters and her eyes darted about, looking for the other. She followed the one she could see, knowing this felt like a trap as he turned down Knockturn Alley. D hung back for a second at the end of the alley and withdrew her wand from beneath her black cloak. Her heart was racing and she knew that there was a very real possibility that they were aware of her following them and that one would confront her while the other came up from behind but what choice did she have? She had eyes on a Death Eater, she couldn’t let them just slip away. So D stepped into Knockturn Alley. She could feel the change in atmosphere in an instance. Unlike its Diagon Alley brother, Knockturn Alley was darker and a few noticeable degrees cooler. D’s spring cloak did barely anything against the chill the alley was known for. D followed the Death Eater. He’d gotten ahead a but farther and D clutched her wand tightly in anticipation of what was to come. Quickly the Death Eater turned around, firing a spell down the alley. D narrowly avoided it with a spin to her left, checking behind her. People went running, taking to nearby shops or disapparating to avoid getting caught up in the altercation. D raised her wand from beneath her cloak and sent a stunning spell down towards the Death Eater which he reflected, as expected the second Death Eater came from behind, an all too familiar jet of green light flew down the alley, crashing into a shop window and sending glass flying. The first Death Eater sent a second spell her way and against she moved, the scene becoming a flash of lights, a fast moving Dormines in the middle of it all, sending up shields and sending a barrage of spells, finally hitting one of her assailants before it was just her and the second Death Eater that had come from Diagon Alley.

Let the eye of vigilance never be closed
It had been two weeks since the Minister of Magic had announced the new statutes that were clearly aimed at breaking down the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy of 1689, not to mention ostracizing muggle-born wizards and witches, making them easy targets for Death Eaters and bigots. Every day, Alastor was seeing more and more shining silver M’s, marking people needlessly as they just tried to go about their lives, and every day he witnessed more and more occurrences of extremist hate focused on fine wizarding folk simply because of their parentage. It was disgusting. It was even more disgusting that the Order had yet to address the newly enacted laws. Alastor trusted Dumbledore as much as he could trust anyone, but the old coot was either so riled up about it all that he couldn’t control himself long enough to host a meeting and develop an effective plan to counter the obvious political corruption, or he was taking a rather lackadaisical attitude to what essentially was the beginnings of a second holocaust.
Patrolling the streets of Diagon Alley on a Saturday was normally considered the easy shift, but the attacks on muggleborn-owned shops was making even wizarding safe havens like this one not so safe. It seemed a quiet enough day today, that is, until a rush of people and screams began emitting from a dark turn that led into Knockturn Alley. As wizarding citizens ran away from the sounds of dueling blasts and shattering glass, Alastor ran towards them, drawing his wand and gripping it tightly as his huge frame squeezed down the tiny walkway, his large feet barely fitting on the stone steps as he took them two at a time. A gnarled wizard hobbled past him and up the steps, giving Alastor a clear view of the back of a cloaked figure with wand drawn, and a bit further up was Dormiens. Moody sent a stunning spell at the cloaked figure, hitting him in the leg and causing him to topple.

The fight was short lived. Dodging a couple more flashes of green D looked up to see her assailant, the Death Eater she'd been following, was flat on the ground and grabbing at his leg. There was a large figure behind him, one D was familiar with. She straightened herself up and aimed her wand at the Death Eater. It wasn't ethical but she didn't have to worry about being ethical right now. She sent a spell at him that knocked him out which made his body easy enough to search. "Check his pockets," She told Alastor before she went off to the other Death Eater and began searching his pockets, at least there wasn't a crowd but now that the spells had stopped firing and the Alley had gone silent, it wouldn't be long before a crowd emerged again and tried to get a look in on what had gone down in the dodgiest place in all of Magical Britain. "We think they're after people." She told him, "I'm looking for a list, names." She told him, rifling through the pockets of the first Death Eater that had been rendered unconscious. There were all sorts of trinkets and pieces of parchment that she came across but there was nothing of significance until she reached the inside pocket of his robe. A scroll of parchment was tightly rolled and tied off with a black ribbon. Dormiens pulled the ribbon off and unrolled the scroll. There were names there she recognised, names of people in the Order and people that had helped them out a time or two. She saw her own name listed before she quickly rolled it up again and slipped it into her own pocket.
Reaching forward, D's well manicured fingers pulled the mask of the Death Eater off of his face. She looked down at Ivan Crumpleback, standing up straight with his mask in her hand. He worked for the Ministry, in their Beasts Department that last she'd heard. It was sickening how the Ministry had allowed itself to become so corrupt and if Alastor took Crumpleback in then there was a strong chance he'd be out within a couple of days, through no fault of Alastor's. It was just a corrupt system now. Throwing the mask down on his chest, D turned around and headed to Alastor, "Crumpleback." She told him, nodding her head back to the unconscious Death Eater she'd just searched, wondering if there was anything found on the Death Eater Alastor had taken down.

Let the eye of vigilance never be closed
Knocking a stunned man out was highly unethical, but then so was ordering perfectly innocent muggle-borns to wear armbands like giant targets for their harassers. Alastor was fine to turn a blind eye to anything they needed, so long as it meant inching them ever closer to a sane wizarding world once more. This racist pureblood supremacy dragon dung was infuriating, and honestly in made Moody’s blood boil. If there wasn’t the chance that he’d be found out, he’d slip these two gits right into an empty cell in Azkaban without so much as a trial, and “forget” to tell anyone they were there.
Dormiens told him to search the Death Eater. Alastor didn’t need to be told twice. Sticking his large hands into the pockets of the man’s robes, he found very little of interest. A few knuts, balls of lint, and a scrap of parchment that looked like it had once been a price sticker. Alastor moved to the inner pockets. Here he found a wand, which was peculiar as the man had another wand held loosely in his unconscious hand. It wasn’t readily clear who the wand belonged to, but Moody assumed it was obtained under less than upstanding means. Finally, Alastor pulled the silvery mask away from the Death Eater’s face. “Recognize this one?” Aly asked casually as D approached. He looked over her shoulder as he stood to his full height as she named the Death Eater she’d unmasked as Crumpleback. “Fuckin’ cunt,” he snarled in the Ministry man’s direction. He turned back to Dormiens and the Death Eater who’s face was unfamiliar to the seasoned Auror. Not a Ministry worker and not one of the many seedy wizards who used the MLE jails like a revolving door. “He had this on him.” Alastor displayed the spare wand in the palm of his strong hand.

D's eyes drifted down to the man Alastor had unmasked. The lighting was terrible but at first glance he didn't look like anyone she recognised. It was hard in the darkness of the alley and it was hard when their eyes were closed. The eyes made the face but as she came to a stop, D tilted her head and it turned into a shake. "I don't know." She was disappointed. This was another Death Eater they were unaware of. She looked him over, his black cloak was faded and his clothes seemed a little ill fitted. He wasn't from one of the richer families they knew to be associated with the Death Eaters and he wasn't someone D recognised from her work at the Ministry or Saint Mungo's. "Albus will probably know." She said, looking to the wands. D took a deep breath, knowing that out there somewhere was another individual, missing their wand, probably dead. "We should take these to Ollivander." she said, "He'd be able to tell us who these wands belong to." She suggested, although by 'we' it would probably be best if it was just Alastor, looking as though it were official Ministry business rather than anything else and thankfully Ollivander's wasn't far from them at all.
