And you're wrapped in light and life, and love Freya strolled through the Ministry of Magic with a large container floating in front of her, the scent of freshly baked apple crumble wafting out and turning heads everywhere she went. The elevator smelled divine by the time she'd reached her floor, and most of the people inside were smiling, some craning their necks to check where she was taking the yumminess. She crossed the Auror department and gently lowered her wand, the large dish floating down to sit on her desk as she called out loudly. "Homemade apple crumble. Come and get it!" She was already busy looking inside her bag for the little containers she'd brought with her, and she set them on the desk with some cutlery so that people could help themselves. Freya loved to bake, and since she'd been wide awake since five this morning thanks to being repeatedly kicked in the bladder by her gorgeous little womb raider, she had passed some time baking in the kitchen, and made far too much. Her colleagues usually appreciated a treat being brought in, and she knew the crumble would be gone by lunch time. Her wand sliced up a large hunk of the pie and she sealed it in a little plastic container, grabbing a fork and heading back out of the office, leaving Kit Devereaux to carve himself a slice before the masses arrived. He looked far too pleased at himself for being the first there, and she smiled to herself as she meandered through the Ministry until she came to a small sign that read Muggleworthy Excuse Committee. She headed straight for Caradoc's desk and plonked the apple crumble down in front of him. "Morning!" she greeted as brightly as she could for someone who hadn't had much sleep. She pulled a chair over from another desk and sat herself down, putting her feet up on Doc's desk and breathing a deep sigh of relief as her aching soles had their first rest of the day. "I brought you the best piece," she said, shoving her sunglasses up on the top of her head to reveal tired eyes. She felt comfortable enough with Caradoc to just be a slob in front of him. He was good friends with her fiance, and had become one of her greatest friends over the years, too. He was a good man, and he deserved good pie. _______________________ tag: Caradoc Bernard Dearborn words: 429 notes: <3 outfit: 6 months preggers! template by izzy[googlefont="Euphoria Script"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

As bad as everything was for people around the Ministry, they were worse for people like Doc. The muggleborns of the wizarding world could really feel the shift that was occurring. It was slow but it was happening and someday soon they would all know that it had certainly happened. They would know because it would be the day the fullbloods would come for them, the lesser bloods. There was little comfort for Doc these days. Lunete was training to be an Auror and while he'd always thought it too dangerous for her, he was now glad she had the training she had. Humbert was a brilliant bloke and good friend to Doc. He was a spectacular Auror and if there was anyone to train his baby sister, he was glad it was Dorian and a team that Dorian had put together. Still she was not safe. When things changed - and they would - she, too, would be targeted. If that were to happen then he hoped that Dorian would stand his ground as a good man and prevent any harm from coming to Lunete, despite any law that might require an altogether different approach. It was a shame Dorian couldn't have slapped his dickhead brother and prevented the twat from ever laying a hand on his baby sister.
Doc carried on around the ministry, more and more people openly looking down on him for his bloodstatus but he never allowed it to bother him and he never let anyone know that it was a problem to him, though he damn sure made them know that he knew how they were thinking. He would stand tall, puff his chest out on an in breath while staring them down. The lesser beings that were simply following the new trend of disliking muggleborns would often back down, people from older pureblooded families tend not to. They held their heads high with a hint of a smug smirk visible. He knew how they were thinking and the smug bastards would look away, feeling they were better. Doc was going to shock them when he fought back.
Snapped from his thoughts while writing up his latest report he found he could smell a most delicious aroma. He looked about before retunring to his writing. "Driver crashed into utility pole, causing the phones and electricity along its lines ..." Doc mumbled off, continuing to write before his neck almost snapped when he looked up to a huge, six months pregnant Freya. Merlin she was getting bloody huge! He wasn't going to say that out loud, but she was! "Bloody hell, you've popped!" Damnit, Doc! You had one job - don't mention her size! He scolded himself mentally as she got herself comfy and he eyed up the pie she'd brought with her. "Morning, I mean." He cleared his throat, "Blimey, smells amazing." He said, "Bake it yourself?" Yeah, smooth. He'd totally saved himself on that one, she was going to ignore that he'd basically called her fat and her husband-to-be would not kick his arse for it!

And you're wrapped in light and life, and love Freya gave her stomach a thoughtful glance at Caradoc's greeting. It had grown considerably over the last few weeks, she couldn't deny that, but was it really that noticeable? She patted her bump gently with one hand, wondering if she was patting head or bum in there, and imagining a cute baby bum right under her hand. Better than thinking that she was patting her child on the nose repeatedly. "Hey, I had three muffins for breakfast. This is all muffin. Don't judge." She was joking, she had had two and a half muffins for breakfast, and Gabe had finished the rest of her third one off before he'd headed to work. It had made her feel like less of a greedy pig, but honestly, she had every intention of having some apple crumble when she got back to her desk. If Devereaux had left her any. She wiggled her feet where they sat elevated on Doc's desk, the slight swelling settling already. Working was getting hard. She'd gone from wearing heels and tight pants every day, to showing up for work in baggy jumpers and flat shoes that didn't give her cramp in the arches of her feet every ten steps. "I did!" she smiled brightly as Doc asked the obvious question of whether she'd baked it herself. Of course she had baked it herself, he was just trying to cover up his "look at the size of your gigantic stomach" comment, and she let him. She was a lover, not a fighter. Except for when she was fighting on the job, but that didn't count. The rest of the time she tried to look on the bright side with most things, and though she was a master of a passive aggressive comment, she did try her best to let things go whenever she could. Doc had merely been pointing out how healthy her unborn child was, that was all. Healthy and huge, just like her ankles. Minus the healthy part. Okay, she was just huge. Bloody huge. Doc's slice of pie looked more and more appealing the longer she sat there. Freya was tempted to just snatch it up and eat it before he even got a look in, but she stopped herself. It was all his. She tilted her head to try and snoop at what he had been writing, having caught a few words as she had been approaching his desk. Something about a utility pole. Freya gave a quick laugh. "It wasn't you, was it, that gave the old fireworks accident excuse for that duel in the muggle neighbourhood yesterday?" She hadn't thought for a moment that the excuse would have come from Doc. Fireworks had become such a popular excuse for particularly noticeable duels, that it had become a sort of joke in the office. "Oh, must have been fireworks," they would laugh. Yesterday she had been doing paperwork for a case where a duel had broken out right in the middle of a muggle street, lined with houses on either side. The muggles had been told that the flashes and colours they had seen flying about were due to fireworks being set off accidentally in someone's shed. To a magical person it had seemed pretty laughable, but the muggles usually bought it without any question at all, really. Still, she always enjoyed the more creative excuses that were given out, and Doc was certainly someone who was great at his job and could think up some fabulous things. _______________________ tag: Caradoc Bernard Dearborn words: 616 notes: <3 outfit: 6 months preggers! template by izzy[googlefont="Euphoria Script"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Muffins. Suuuure. Doc wasn't buying that for a second but he wasn't going to put his foot in his mouth again! He didn't want an arse whooping from Freya and Gabe all in the same day! She was glowing, her skin and hair looked healthy - he could have gone with that but no, he went with tubster. Well not quite that offensive but it may as well have been. He needed to think before he spoke sometimes, although in fairness he'd not expected to see Freya this morning nor had he expected her bump to come around the corner half an hour before she did! Okay, if he didn't stop thinking like that then he was going to balls up this conversation again and that would definitely get him a smack across the back of his head. "A sweet little muffin baby. Twin for Gabriel Junior." That was a strange little notion! A baby made entirely of muffins was a funny little thought and quite cute. It would poop blueberries. Possibly a little far in his thought process, he decided.
Doc loved Freya's baking. He'd had plenty of it over the years but never enough. Ever ever! It was amazing. If he ever settled down with someone then he hoped they enjoyed cooking. He wasn't a bad cook but only because he had to cook for himself, he preferred someone to cook for him, but knowing his luck he'd probably find his soul mate in someone that hated cooking and he'd end up cooking. He'd be fine with that, for the right person. He was sure there was someone out there for him somewhere in the world but he wasn't looking right now. He was more than happy with the single life, it suited him very well and gave him time to do all the things he loved a swell as work and working for the Order.
Sliding the container towards himself a little more, Doc opened it up and started digging in. Apple pie probably wasn't the ideal second breakfast but it was a special treat that he'd work off later. He'd try and hit the gym at some point because staying in shape was important to Doc, but if he couldn't find the time then he'd probably burn the extra calories off at home, looking after the animals and going for a jog. "Nah," He said through a mouthful of crumble. He chewed it up and swallowed it, savouring the tart taste of the apples that were perfectly countered with sweetness of sugar and ... was that a pinch of salt too? It certainly tasted like it. Pastry was always better with a decent pinch of salt in it. "Beast division, chasing a -" Doc had forgotten, he looked down a his paper work and then started moving bits out of the way, not being able to find what he was looking for, "A something." He said, giving up after very short work. He didn't need to put too much effort into finding it because he's probably tell Freya all about it the next time they had a proper catch up, and besides, the story was probably already starting to do its rounds at the ministry and she'd hear soon enough.

And you're wrapped in light and life, and love She got a weird satisfaction seeing Doc tuck into the apple crumble. Something about people blatantly enjoying her cooking just made her happy. Gabe enjoying her cooking was a whole different kind of happy, one that she wouldn't be experiencing with anyone else, thank you very much, but she felt content as Doc filled his boots. His mention of Gabriel Junior caused her to scowl a little bit and shake her head. "It's a girl!" she insisted, still patting her bump's bum/face/toes - it was such a soothing action, she no longer realised she was doing it. She was convinced she was having a boy. Absolutely convinced, and so was Gabe. To the point that he'd been going around talking about Gabriel Junior to his mates, and acting like there was no question that he could even be wrong. Freya liked to insist it was a girl just to try and remind everyone that it was a fifty-fifty chance, but she knew it was a boy, really. It just was. Coming up with a boys name that began with 'G' was proving a nightmare, though, they were all so old fashioned, and she didn't like any so far. The male tradition in the Ollivander family was a pain in her plump arse of late. He reassured her that the fireworks excuse hadn't been his doing, he'd been working on a case for the Beast Division, which made her raise a pale brow. "A something?" she repeated, blowing out a long breath and a whistle, clearly impressed. "I haven't seen one of those before, I heard they're really rare. Wow." Clearly her food had played havoc with Doc's ability to think straight, but she didn't mind, she was just enjoying the rest before she had to get to work. It wasn't as though she had actually done any work yet, but she did deserve the rest. "They've got me on paperwork duties from next week," she grumbled, pissed off that she was being taken out of the field work and lumped behind a desk for the remainder of her pregnancy. "Something about me being a liability because blah, blah, blah." She rolled her eyes. She loved being pregnant, or at least, she had up until now. Now that she was bigger it seemed people thought she was either very breakable, or just a bumbling idiot with fluff for brains. She knew she couldn't go running about on the job once she was a certain size, but honestly! Office work at six months? Yeah, she was pissed off to say the least. _______________________ tag: Caradoc Bernard Dearborn words: 462 notes: <3 outfit: 6 months preggers! template by izzy[googlefont="Euphoria Script"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Doc scoffed as Freya claimed she was having a girl. Year right, how would she even know? Could people even tell before a baby was born? Doc wasn't really sure but he kind of regretted that scoff a little, still he wouldn't apologise or take it back, he decided to just go with it, "Gabriel can be a girls name, y'know." He scoffed again, playfully this time. Gabriel, as far as he was aware, was not a girls name. Anywhere. Gabrielle was a nice girls names but Gabriel? Not so much. Besides, even if Gabriel wasn't a girls name anywhere else in the world, the Fawley-Ollivander clan could be the first to make it so, start a cute little trend. It was a nice enough name so why limit it to just boys?
"Mhmm." Doc nodded his head, enjoying Freya's baking without shame. He was even almost done with the early morning treat, munching away and enjoying the sweet taste of the sugared apples that left enough of the tartness still to make it an excellent dish, "This is almost exactly like my mum used to make." He said offhandedly for a moment before turning back to the conversation they were having, "They're very dangerous, these somethings." He stated, totally bullshitting as she well knew. "Ghastly creatures, you best watch out." Or what? Nothing would happen? Oh no!
Freya grumbled a little about paperwork and Doc put down the empty container, finishing off his last mouthful. He'd really gone to town on that bad boy. "Aw Frey, I'm sorry." He empathised. He knew that they both knew it was probably for the best, she didn't want to go risking her little baby's life along with her own right now, but paper work was kind of boring and dull and every other synonym one could possibly thing of. "Have they at least given you something interesting to be working on?" He asked curiously though he doubted it, it was paperwork after all.

And you're wrapped in light and life, and love "You're so full of shit," Frey said with a chuckle and a shake of her head. She loved that Doc at least tried to be helpful, but she would not be calling a daughter Gabriel. Or Gabrielle. She honestly didn't have a clue what her kid would end up being called, but she still had a couple of months to come up with something. She knew some people who left their babies without a name for the first few weeks of their life, while they tried to figure out what suited the smooshy little face. She couldn't see herself doing that, either. Before she could stress herself out over it, she allowed Doc to distract her with more talk or Somethings. "Well I'd be buggered if one found me these days," she said. "Do they go away if you play dead, or is that bears?" She'd have no chance of running from anything. She knew that was the highly logical reasoning for her being put on office work only, but it still stung. Doc asked if she had been given anything interesting to be working on, and she let out a loud, short laugh that earned a few glances from other people working in Doc's department. "No. I spent last week writing up reports for other people, and I've been told I'll be doing some investigative work, whatever that means. I'll probably be sat at a computer searching old newspaper reports to try and figure out who's been killing grannies regularly for the past year." She looked up at Doc and waved a dismissive hand. "That's not an actual thing. But if it was I'm sure it would be lumped on me." She couldn't think of anything more boring. They were going to bore her into maternity leave. She'd asked if she could take it a bit earlier when she'd been told she wouldn't be going out on the job any more, but she'd been told a firm no. Bastards. Freya loved her job, but this next couple of months was going to be torture. She'd probably be determined to quit and open up her own bakery by the end of it, and wasn't that just the most tempting thought she'd ever had. _______________________ tag: Caradoc Bernard Dearborn words: 404 notes: <3 outfit: 6 months preggers! template by izzy[googlefont="Euphoria Script"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Doc grinned like an idiot at Freya. He liked that they could have a bit of back and forth at work, it seemed like as the world got darker he was seeing less and less of the people he cared about. He saw people he knew from the Order at meetings when they had them, but they were strictly business because you couldn't be missing for too long and besides, everyone wanted to get back to their loved ones and make sure they were protected. Those that did want to catch up did so but it always seemed to be far too quickly. It was difficult if you knew someone only through the Order because that meant the Order was the only place you could catch up with someone. If you knew other people outside of meetings then you could catch up with them without it looking suspicious. There was no telling who was watching your goings on. Doc was a Muggleborn, he was a Ministry worker, he was in the Order. There were probably plenty of people keeping an eye on him at the moment and so he was careful with everything he did. He'd lost his mother and brother, he didn't want to lose any more loved ones, there was only so much he could take. "You could try just laying there," he said with a chuckle, the idea of Freya tackling anything by just laying there was amusing, "Not sure how well you'd get on, mind."
The idea of being on light duties seemed to be a pain in the arse, but at the same time Doc figured Gabe was probably glad his future wife wasn't in the line of fire in her current condition. "If someone was out there killing my grannies, I'd be glad to have you on the case." He said in an attempt to be positive and reassuring, "Though you'd be a bit late to the party, one was run over by a truck when I was five and the other died of cancer a few years back. Though it could all be a ploy, some kind of great deception. Good luck with the investigations." Doc laughed, he'd never been all that close to his grandparents, his mum's mum was the type of overly affectionate woman that liked to shove food on your plate as a way of showing her love and you'd damn well better eat it or you got a slipper to the back of the head. His dad's mum had been a snooty cow, hardly ever showed any signs of affection from what Doc could remember, but it had been so long since she'd passed that Doc had very few memories of her.

And you're wrapped in light and life, and love Freya laying anywhere at this point in her life would likely lead to her getting stuck, she couldn't deny that her chances of survival against a Something would be very slim. Which was quite sad, seeing as the fact that it didn't even exist didn't bump her survival rate in the slightest. She pouted as Doc mentioned how both of his grandmothers had died. "Poor grannies," she said, thinking Doc's family didn't seem to have much luck with deaths. If Death Eater attacks in recent years weren't enough to wipe half of them out, they had a history with cancer and trucks, to add insult to injury. Frey hadn't had much death in her own family. Her grandparents were alive and frail, but aside from that, everyone was in pretty good health as far as she was aware. Drama didn't seem to come their way, and if it did, she liked to think Noelle might be lucky enough to see it in one of her visions so they would have a bit of warning beforehand. "Aww, Doccy," she said, reaching out to grab his empty pie tub and the fork he'd used. She put them on the edge of the desk in front of her as she looked at him with sympathy. "I don't think I'm allowed to dabble in time travel, either, or I'd go back and rescue your grannies, too." She would, actually. She never understood why time turners were so limited. You could only go so far back, which was just ridiculous. They had all the magic in the world at their fingertips, and yet they couldn't jump back in time a decade or so and save lives, or prevent disasters, or do other great things? It was more than a bit daft, but she didn't feel like giving herself a headache by thinking about it today. Instead, she glanced at the clock on the far wall. "I guess I'd better get back to my very important desk job, then," she said, putting her feet down on the floor and holding both hands out to Doc. "Haul me up, Dearhart." Because she really needed the boost. This kid was heavy as anything already, and she still had a lot of growing to do. _______________________ tag: Caradoc Bernard Dearborn words: 407 notes: <3 outfit: 6 months preggers! template by izzy[googlefont="Euphoria Script"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

It really hadn't taken Doc all that long to finish the bit of pie Frey had brought him. He was a bloke with a bit of a large appetite so after a few mouthfuls the thing was just gone. He was very grateful that Frey had thought to bring him some, it was certainly a nice treat to brighten his day. Being in an office was rather uneventful so when someone brought little treats around it really lifted his spirits. And speaking of lifting, it looked as though he had some heavy lifting of his own to be doing. He chuckled at Freya and stood from his chair and came around in front of her, "Now resist the urge to pull me down." He said, "I know I'm devilishly handsome and all, buuut..." He trailed off, reaching his hand out, half expecting a light, playful slap across it. Doc didn't mind. Freya knew he was only messing, as would Gabe, in fact if Gabe had been around Doc would have played into it more, suggesting she not hold his hand for too long while Gabe was around, playfully telling her not to grope his arse this time when it came to a hug goodbye. Frye and Gabe were good people, fun people, and Doc considered them family.

And you're wrapped in light and life, and love Freya gave a hearty laugh and shook her head. "Oh, Doc, you have no idea what it's like," she insisted. "Gabe was trimming the rose bushes in the garden at the weekend, and he was all sweaty and covered in muck and I jumped him and it was amazing. I can't even walk past him without copping a feel. Pregnancy is bizarre." It was probably too much information, but Freya didn't really care. She liked to be open with people, there was no point holding back with friends, or they weren't really friends, were they. She reached her hand out and took hold of Doc's so he could haul her up. "Besides, Gabe would be devastated if I started groping you. You know how much he fancies you, I'd never hurt him like that." She grinned, letting out a huff of effort as she was finally hoisted to her feet. She tugged on her top to make sure it was covering everything it needed to, and then pulled Doc into a hug, his empty pie tub still in her hand. "Try not to work too hard," she told him, letting go and beginning her waddle back to the Auror office. _______________________ tag: Caradoc Bernard Dearborn words: 231 notes: <3 outfit: 6 months preggers! template by izzy[googlefont="Euphoria Script"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]
