caradoc bernard dearborn
PERSONALITY Boggart: Seeing himself dead in a pool of blood and how badly it effects his remaining family members. Mirror of Erised: Settled down in the country somewhere with a small hobby farm, a wife, three children and the rest of his family surrounding him, smiling, waving and happy - even his mum and Tristan. Patronus: Swan - Teaching Trissy to walk and talk, teaching him to clap and hold things. Every little memory of young Trissy. Caradoc is a strong willed and independent individual. He's not stubborn and really quite flexible. Being the eldest of four brothers he always wanted to set an example. His mother and father supported him through everything, even when he was a stubborn child that always had to get his way. Family is Caradoc's heart. He is one of five children and loves all of his siblings. He was closest to Tristan, aka Trissy, who was born four years after Caradoc. There isn't anything Caradoc wouldn't do for his family, particularly after they lost their mother. Now that Tristan is gone too Caradoc feels it's his duty to be there for his family more than ever. He is self-sacrificing to the point that he will literally die to save any one of his family. When he can, Doc spends time doing one of his two favourite things, either horse riding or drawing. Art is not his strong suit but he finds it calming and relaxing. Horse riding and art are Caradoc's ways of escaping his own mind. He quite loves animals and has a black standard poodle named Duchess. He enjoys his walks with Duchess, it's usually when he makes his big decisions. He's quick with decisions but if he can take the time to assess a situation first - he takes it. Having been quite a goofy and clumsy lad during school Caradoc has since grown out of that. He thanks his hormones balancing out. His hair became more manageable, his pimples disappeared, and he stopped having embarrassing accidents like falling over his own feet or accidentally pouring too much potion into a vial and spilling it everywhere. HISTORY Mother: Rosemary "Rosie" Dearborn, muggle, deceased. Father: James "Jim" Dearborn, 60, muggle Siblings: Tristan Dearborn, 27, muggleborn, deceased. Percival Dearborn, 24, muggleborn. Lionel Dearborn, 21, muggleborn, Lunete Dearborn, 20, muggleborn. Partners: None. Others: Duchess - all black standard poodle, four years old. Midnight - black shire horse with white legs and white streak down her nose, five years old. Caradoc Bernard Dearborn. The first born child to Rosie and Jim Dearborn was a complete and utter nightmare of a baby. Sleepless nights galore for his parents. It would be three years before he'd sleep through the night and even then that was in his parents bed. He refused to move into his own before. Stubborn was a word that perfectly described little Caradoc. At the age of four Caradoc became a big brother to little Tristan, or Trissy as Caradoc used to pronounce it, and he was smitten. He took on the role of big brother very seriously and would insist on his little brother being looked after at every whinge. He loved his brother, wanted him happy all the time. Caradoc would sing little lullabies and rhymes to Tristan to try and get him to sleep, including little songs he'd make up by himself. He learnt how to help change and bathe Tristan, he looked after his brother's toys and couldn't do enough for him. The two were close. Caradoc was Tristan's protector and vowed to always look after his little brother. At the age of eight Caradoc became a big brother again. He was still as stubborn as a mule and just as ugly. His buck-teeth and wild hair didn't do him any favours and other kids kind of found him a little strange. It never bothered him because he noticed he could do things, magical things. When Trissy had been about one and screaming for his dee-dee (dummy) Caradoc had searched high and low for it. He searched and searched until he was on the verge of tears, not being able to find the dummy for his brother. He looked one more time under the stuffed bear he'd gotten Trissy the day they'd brought him hime from the hospital and low and behold the dee-dee was there. Caradoc knew he'd looked under King Arthur the bear before but he shrugged it off and forgot about it within seconds. As Caradoc got older the more he noticed strange little happenings like that. He spoke to his parents about it who just spoke of how wonderful his imagination was. It wasn't until one day a letter was delivered and a Professor from a school came to visit Caradoc and his parents in their home, that caradoc realised there was truly something magical about him. At the age of eleven Caradoc left Trissy in charge of the big brother duties, teaching him how to keep a look out for Percival and their mum, Rosie, who was expecting another baby. Tristan didn't need telling of course but Caradoc had insisted and went to Hogwarts confident that his brother was looking out for his younger brother and their mum while he couldn't be there. The train ride was eye opening for Caradoc. He noticed many magical things and found them all wondrous! He passed a couple of snobs that threw around some word he didn't really understand but he didn't care. He settled in to a compartment with a group of people and happily listened to the tales they told of their lives with magic. Caradoc was simply amazed by it all. The Sorting Ceremony was a little confusing for Caradoc. They sat a hat on your head and then ... the hat spoke? How did that even happen? The concept of actual magic being real was a bit of a head spin for Caradoc but he got used to it pretty quickly when he had an oversized hat on his head, blocking his view of the great hall as it talked in his ear, leaving Caradoc to wonder if everyone could hear this hat or just him. For everyone else it had been silent until it had shouted a house name - which were totally strange by the way - and there hadn't been any talking that he'd notice. The hat spoke and Caradoc's mind just kept ticking away at how this was possible. The hat spoke and Caradoc wasn't sure if he should talk back. It seemed not to matter, the hat could read his thoughts and that sort of terrified Caradoc. After a couple of minutes of silence on Caradoc's part, the hat screamed out "RAVENCLAW" and the hate was pulled of his head. His ears welcomed the cheering of his house mates as he got off the three legged stool and made his way to the Ravenclaw table, greeted warmly by his fellow Eagles. Hogwarts was an amazing experience for Caradoc and he threw himself into his learning. For the most part Caradoc didn't really get to know anyone outside of his own year and even then he mostly just knew the boys from his dorm a the girls that were also in Ravenclaw, not that they ever paid much attention from him unless they needed help with their homework and the cute guys didn't have any time for them. Dating never really happened for Caradoc at Hogwarts. When he finally grew into his buck-teeth and lop-sided grin, he got all pimply and clumsy. He wasn't capable of holding a solid conversation with a girl unless it was about school work or subjects he was confident in. Although he didn't date Caradoc did have a few crushes here and there. He noticed plenty of pretty girls but he was just invisible to them, just as well. The confidence he'd had at home as a child had been lost at Hogwarts but he knew he was good at his school work and so he pushed himself harder to get good grades so he could get a good job. By the time Caradoc left Hogwarts he'd received quite an education and not just in the way of subjects and grades. He'd learnt about the war building up outside of Hogwarts, about how the muggles were all rather oblivious to it. He'd been passionate about doing something if he could but what could he ever do? It was time to talk to Albus Dumbledore as he seemed to be the one with his head screwed on right ... err, well maybe not right, but certainly screwed on to some degree. Upon graduation the bright, dorky Ravenclaw got a job in the ministry of magic. He joined the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes after failing to get into both the Auror and Hit-Wizard training program after a spectacular screw up involving his wand and a rather pissed off Barty Crouch with a sore bottom. Caradoc has spent most of his time as an obliviator and then as part of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. As of now he's hopped on over to the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee where he's in his element what with being a muggleborn himself. He works for the Order in secret and brought his younger brother Tristan in years ago. It has been a decision Caradoc now regrets. Growing up he remembered words his father told him, about how everything he did he did three times. Once when he did it, again when Tristan would copy and once more when Percival would do the same. This was all before Lionel and Lunete were born but the words stuck with the eldest Dearborn and he felt it his job more than ever to look out for his siblings, particularly after their mother died a couple of years ago. But Tristan was murdered. Caradoc failed. He failed Tristan, he failed himself, and he failed his family. After losing Tristan, Caradoc has become more vigilant over his family and moved into the family home. With his sister breaking down every five minutes and his father trying to hold it together, Caradoc is just trying his best to be there for them and to carry on.
