If I am an angel paint me with black wings There had been yet another argument and it was clear that unless he quite literally strapped his wife to the bed and took what was belonged to him, Rodolphus would not be having the son he had been promised by his parents when they had arranged this marriage. “What’s the fucking point of you, then?” he screamed at her as Bellatrix threw an antique vase at his head. He managed to dodge the heavy porcelain and felt it whizzing past his ear before it met with the wall and splintered into a million pieces with an intense sound that was simply another piece to the tumultuous discussion the couple had been having for more than three hours now. It was the fourth time this week and Bella’s insistence that she would murder any ‘creature’ he forced into her belly was the final straw. There was nothing for him to do, aside from raping his wife and holding her captive in the dungeons for 9 months until she produced which was likely to be yet another daughter instead of his proper heir since Cygnus’ side of the Black family was cursed, and then he would have to ensure that she not kill the child at any point in its life simply out of spite. He did not put it past Bellatrix to murder their own child for her benefit. She loved Aurora but not enough to settle Rodolphus’ mind amid the repeated threats she made against their nonexistent future children. What was the point of her, indeed. The entire purpose of essentially selling off your child to another family was to produce offspring to carry on the family name and keep the bloodlines intact. Bellatrix was ensuring that wouldn’t be the case and Rodolphus was having none of it. Their marriage had been rocky, to say the least, since Aurora had been born. Rodolphus had expected a son and instead the healer had presented him with a daughter. The nearly six years that had passed since then were tumultuous and filled with repetitious fighting that always came back to the same conclusion; Bellatrix refused to have another child. Recently, it seemed as though her mind was swayed in favor of all things Rodolphus. There was no clear reason for it that Roddy could see. He had done nothing to try to make amends, he continued his extramarital affairs, and berated his wife about a son on a weekly basis, and yet something had changed. She was making an effort for him. She surprised him on a small number of occasions with a lively evening of dinner and hunting; a game of cat and mouse only the psychotic couple would find romantic. Rodolphus was certain she had changed her mind. She clearly wanted to make their marriage work and Rodolphus had been explicitly clear that it would only work with a male heir, it didn’t matter how many daughters she bore him to finally get his son, but there would be another generation of Lestrange men to carry on Rod’s legacy and the family’s fortune. Another shattered antique properly dashed any hope Rodolphus held that his wife had come to her senses. The lounge was destroyed, as was their bedroom and most of the parlor. Mopsy had taken Aurora to play outside upon Bellatrix’s insistence. Bella knew Rodolphus well enough to know when there would be no end in sight to his violent rampage, and this was certainly the worst she’d seen from him before. Her feeble attempts to match him by throwing décor at his head would have been laughable had he been capable of any other emotion aside from murderous rage. In the end, it was murder that sated him, though sadly it was not Bellatrix’s lifeless body he stood over less than thirty minutes later in an abandoned alley of a little coastal village. The corpse’s dark brown curls were soaked with blood, but the jaw hadn’t been right. She didn’t look enough like Bellatrix to soothe the monster inside of him. The second woman had helped, though. Rodolphus left them both, stepping over the body of the curly haired woman as he exited the alley and disappeared with a pop before anyone could spot him. He didn’t go home, however. Nor did he visit his mistress to relieve the final bit of anger that was still inside of him. Instead, he paid a visit to a man his father kept on retainer for any legal matters that may arise. *** “Come along, princess. You can play with the aethonans later after daddy talks with Uncle Rabby.” Aurora was trying to convince Mopsy, her house elf, to put her on the winged horse’s back and Mopsy was having a terrible time of it, knowing Rodolphus had forbade the elf from letting Aurora ride without an adult wizard or witch accompanying her but being explicitly ordered by the adorable five year old. The elf was struggling to tell the little witch no and seemed relieved when Rodolphus called his daughter to his side. A servant greeted them and at the door and welcomed the Lestranges inside. “Scotch, neat,” Roddy said in place of a greeting, quickly followed by “let my brother know I’ve come to talk to him, and that his niece wishes to see him, as well.” Roddy added the last part as a response to Aurora tugging on his trousers in order to avoid being forgotten. The little princess knew nothing of the matter with which Rodolphus had come to see his brother. She thought this was nothing more than a fun trip to visit her uncle, and that mummy was working again. Aurora had no idea that Rodolphus did not intend for his daughter to live with her mother any longer.

Too Much That Time Cannot Erase Rabastan had already seen his brother and niece walking up the drive before one of his servants appeared to announce their arrival. He left Aurora's room quietly, leaving the door ajar as he stepped into the hall and glanced at himself in the mirror on the wall out of habit. He wore jeans and a t-shirt, nothing fancy, nothing that spoke of the fortune he had been born into, and his hair was a mess on top of his head, but he looked good. He didn't really care about looking good for his brother and niece, but he never wanted to give Rodolphus anything to comment on, the cutting banter between them was always plentiful without either of them adding new excuses to the list. He circled the landing and trotted down the stairs, opening his arms wide and grinning at little Aurora. Rabastan adored his niece, and requested her company every so often, he had created a princess room just for her when she'd been born, and having her over was always delightful for him, and made him look forward to the day he would be a father himself. She was spoiled rotten, but she was a Lestrange, and deserved nothing less. "Hello, monkey cheeks!" he greeted, reaching the bottom of the stairs as Aurora ran to him, and sweeping her up in a bear hug. "Hi, hippo ears!" she returned with a giggle at their silly nicknames. Her name for him seemed to change every week, though he'd always called her monkey cheeks, there was no reason behind it, it was just who she was to him. Irrational and silly were not things Rabastan usually was, but when kids were involved, he became just that, and they seemed to adore it, so why fight it. Setting the dark beauty back on her tiny feet, he crouched down to her level, eyes taking in the look on his brother's face and realising Rodolphus might need to vent about something that little ears shouldn't be privy to. "Why don't you go and have a look in your room," he told Aurora, eyes twinkling mischievously as he teased her. "There might be a few early birthday presents hidden in there for you." Aurora squealed, and without a word, sprinted up the stairs and out of sight, no doubt about to trash her perfect bedroom to find the gifts he had put in there upon seeing the pair arrive minutes ago. "Don't worry, I've got her main presents hidden away for Sunday," he crossed to Rodolphus, clapping a hand on his brother's shoulder. "What's wrong?" Roddy showing up on his door when he was pissed off, or just pissed after a night out, or even just wanting to let off some steam, was not unusual, but the look on his big brother's face was not that of someone just wanting to chat shit and be a little bitch to his baby brother, it was the look of someone who needed a strong drink and a sensible ear. Rabby was capable of providing both of those, but not standing by the front door. He nodded his head toward the living room and crossed the entrance, opening the doors to as wide as they would go so that they would still be able to hear Aurora playing or if she called to them for anything. "You look murderous..." he said, voice softening to a more hushed tone as his servant brought in a drink for Rodolphus and questioned whether Rabby wanted anything. "Nothing for me," he shook his head and watched her hurry from the room before sinking into a chair. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange notes: Weeeee! <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Nothing You Could Do"]

If I am an angel paint me with black wings
Rodolphus’ baby brother was remarkably well suited to entertaining children. Aurora absolutely adored her uncle, and it was clear the feeling was mutual. Not only was Rodolphus’ first born – currently his only child – a little princess in the eyes of Britain's wizarding world, she was most definitely a princess to those that loved her. A spoiled little princess with hidden presents in her bedroom a mere three days before her birthday which, as it always was, would be a spectacle to behold, with a guest list that rivaled the paramount of any social elite’s parties. Rodolphus’ secretary actual had a list of names who had not been invited who were still clambering to attend and offering all manner of bribes to receive an invitation. The highest bidders may, in fact, find themselves in the Lestrange ballroom come Sunday but nothing was for certain, especially with Rodolphus currently in such a foul mood.
His daughter and his brother had their little back and forth, and Rodolphus watched with a detached sense of warmth. He worked hard to keep his anger from Aurora’s sight, but so many years of allowing his home to be the sanctuary that did not require the well-mannered gentleman façade he portrayed to the rest of the world made it difficult, particularly when Aurora’s mother liked to push his buttons. Aurora squealed and dashed up the stairs towards her bedroom without a backwards glance towards her father. It was for the best. Mopsy followed along silently and Rodolphus’ gaze turned towards his brother.
Crossing the foyer into the living room, Rodolphus was greeted again by the servant, this time with the glass of scotch he had requested. When Rabastan declined a drink, the servant scurried from the room. Rodolphus moved with heavy footsteps toward the window, staring out over the property his brother called his own. He could hear the creaking of springs as Rabastan’s slender frame sank into a chair behind him. In one large gulp, Rodolphus had drank nearly half his drink, not even really tasting it but more needing its effects to sooth the beast inside that threatened to break free. “Murder would be simpler,” he said darkly, his eyes fixated on the trees at the edge of the well-maintained property. “It would require less questions from my daughter and be swifter in freeing me from this Hell.” Another large sip and his fresh glass was now nearly empty. Rodolphus drank too much, too often but there were times that called for alcohol and this was certainly one of them.
Roddy turned away from the window slightly, finally looking at his brother over his shoulder, the same furious rage in his eyes that Rabastan had seen in the foyer. “But I have been advised to take legal maneuvers to rectify my situation, which means a drawn-out divorce and the scrutiny of the public as they determine for themselves who is to blame for the demise of my marriage.” Rabastan was not unaware that Rodolphus and Bellatrix were on bad terms for the last half a decade. Rodolphus would often show up at his brother’s doorstep in need of an ear and someone to listen to him make threats against his wife without calling the MLE on him. The idea of a divorce had been thrown about casually between the brothers before but Rodolphus’ tone made it clear to his younger brother that this was not a hypothetical scenario any longer. This was different. He had brought Aurora with him, after all, and that had never been the case before. She was always safe with her mother or their own servants at home when Rodolphus came to moan about his selfish bitch of a wife to his brother. There were reasons now that Roddy had deemed it necessary to bring Aurora along with him, to keep her under his watch. She would not be turned against him by her mother’s influence.

Too Much That Time Cannot Erase One eyebrow arched in intrigue at the tone his brother took when voicing his thoughts on the simplicity murder brought to complicated situations. It did indeed make everything much more basic. If Roddy was referring to what Rabastan thought he was referring to, then yes, a simple "she died" would suffice much better than a drawn out drama for everyone involved. His brother went on and confirmed Rabby's suspicion that the time had come. "You're finally going ahead with it," he mused, rubbing a finger over his chin and watching Roddy carefully. They had joked and made all kinds of suggestions over the years about how and why Rodolphus should get rid of his wife, but it had never been something the eldest Lestrange had taken seriously. Rabastan wondered what had caused the change. It had to be something bad to finally push his brother over the edge, and for Aurora to have been brought here with her father... That was telling in and of itself. He wanted to keep his daughter close. Did he fear Bellatrix would flee with her? Or worse, finally become completely unhinged and kill Rodolphus' only child? She was bitter and wild enough. "You know you wouldn't have to be the one to do it," Rabastan said sensibly, throwing out his very real offer of killing his brother's wife for him. He would do it without hesitation, and he was confident he could get away with it, but he wouldn't dream of acting without his brother's say so. This was someone's wife and mother they were talking about, after all. Not that Bellatrix had been much of either to Rabastan's family. She was useless and selfish at best. A divorce would be for the best, though it would be messy, and likely sully their family name in the short term. Rabastan's marriage to Lilith Burke would have to outshine it somehow, a task he was certain his fiance would be up to, though he wouldn't be confiding in her just why he needed the wedding to be extra impressive. "What happened, did she try and castrate you or something?" he asked, trying to throw a bit of his usual humour in the mix to lighten the mood, but genuinely believing that Bella might actually go that far. It was no secret between the brothers that she didn't want to give Roddy a son. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Nothing You Could Do"]

If I am an angel paint me with black wings
"You're finally going ahead with it." The word ‘finally’ struck a chord. He took another drink and sat in the armchair nearest his brother. How many times had Rodolphus intruded upon his brother’s solitude to bemoan his failing marriage and laugh at the idea of killing her or disgracing Bellatrix by dragging her name through the mud and mentally torturing her in a way that would far exceed the shit she had put Rodolphus through over the years. Ten years they had been married, and not only were they parents to a single child – a daughter, no less – but Bellatrix was now adamantly refusing to give him anymore children. For years it wasn’t something discussed at all, then it was only discussed when tensions were already high, and tempers flared. It was a way for them to hurt each other. Rodolphus truly thought the winds had changed. She was acting different lately, more romantic and supportive. And yet when the subject was broached yet again she put her foot down. He had closed the door on the opportunity for more children by his behavior when his daughter was born. A reaction now that Rodolphus regrets, but he was young and foolhardy, and was so certain that it was Bella’s family curse that had stolen away his heir, his son, and left him with a daughter who’s only worth would be in marrying her off to another family and losing the Lestrange legacy.
Leaning forward in his chair, Rodolphus rested his forearms on his thighs, his drink in his right hand. He heaved a heavy sigh as his brother graciously offered to murder his wife to avoid a public divorce. Rod gave a single burst of laughter at the suggestion. “Thank you, brother.” He clapped his free hand on his brother’s knee. “If anyone could do it cleanly, it would be you.” That was the truth, if you didn’t include Rodolphus himself in the pool of potential murderers. Rabastan very much looked up to his older brother and as such he followed Rodolphus into the service of the Dark Lord where he honed his skills as a murderer and spy. “But I’m afraid I cannot ask that of you. I want there to be nothing that could possibly come between you and Aurora. She needs her Uncle Horse Arse, or whatever the fuck she calls you. Besides,” Rodolphus straightened himself, resting his glass on the arm of his chair, “the Dark Lord wouldn’t be pleased if his little pet wound up dead.” In the chasm of his relationship with Bellatrix had grown a new relationship between his wife and their master. Rodolphus wasn’t certain it was sexual, but he could see that Bella wanted it to be. She had said as much straight to his face, claiming she would give Voldemort as many children as he wanted but Rodolphus would have none. Selfish fucking cunt.
Rabastan made a joke and Rodolphus gave another short chuckle. He raised his glass to his face and stop just before the rim touched his lips. “She’s been trying that for years,” he retorted, then took a large swallow of his scotch.

Too Much That Time Cannot Erase Rabastan sighed wistfully with a cock of his head. "Ahh, I look forward to her teenage years when she calls me that and worse," he retorted, making a mental note to hex Roddy's dick with something nasty if Aurora ever called him Uncle Horse Arse. She was such a sweet girl, she'd never come up with it on her own though she did have a far better chance at such language with her mother still running around with her head attached to her neck. Alas, Rodolphus was right, not only would Aurora hold a grudge when she was older and found out who killed her mother, but the Dark Lord had a certain attachment to Bella. Weird as it was, Rabby could not risk displeasing their master, not even for something like this. "You are right," he nodded. "Maybe it would be best to disgrace Bella in the Dark Lord's eyes, instead. I'm sure there's room for his opinion of her to lessen." How hard could it be to change the man's mind? It might take months to slowly damage her reputation and hinder her climb to the top of the Death Eater ranks, but it was achievable. Death was preferable, but needs must. "In the meantime, Aurora always has a safe place to stay here," he mused, knowing it would be difficult to keep Bella from the child. There were wards on Rabastan's house, as there should be on any self-respecting wizards home during a war, Bella would not get in easily, if at all. If she did, she'd likely have no eyeballs and be walking on stumps instead of feet thanks to the spells in place around the manor. They were to be brought down only to allow the passing of a very short list of people these days. Sad, but necessary. Anyhow, if Rodolphus ever needed to hide his daughter away, Rabastan would always be an option for his brother. He watched the older man with a careful gaze. "Do I get to hear all of the juicy details of how exactly you told her she was no longer a Lestrange?" he asked with a half smile, thinking it must have been quite the blow up. Roddy and Bella never did things by half. It was a shame she had become such a bitch over the years, because if she'd been willing, they'd have made quite the glorious duo. It seemed she had other ideas, though, but Rodolphus would not be without a wife for long, there would be women queueing up for miles for a shot at marrying into the mighty Lestrange family. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Nothing You Could Do"]

If I am an angel paint me with black wings
Yes, Bella would need to be brought down a peg or eight before they could do anything fun with her. Who knew, perhaps disgracing her in the eyes of her beloved Lord Voldemort would be enough that Bellatrix would take her own life and leave Rodolphus to raise his daughter in peace, but Rod knew he was hoping for too much. If they couldn’t kill her, ruining her reputation would have to do, but why stop with the Dark Lord’s opinion of the psychotic bitch? Why not ruin her standing in the wizarding community as well? The Blacks had already lost one of their daughters to disgrace, and with Narcissa’s inability to produce a living heir it was likely they would soon turn their backs on another. Throw Bellatrix into the mix and wipe out the whole line. Bella’s uncle and aunt’s family were hardly fairing any better. They at least had sons, but Sirius was a complete loss and they were left with only a single Black heir to carry on the entire family’s name, and as far as Rodolphus was aware, Regulus wasn’t settling down anytime soon.
“Thank you, brother.” Rodolphus already knew that his brother would assist in protecting his daughter, without question, but there was a sense of relief that came with hearing it say aloud. For all the dramatics Rodolphus had gone through at his daughter’s birth, he truly loved her and would be beyond distraught should anything ever happen to her. She was his little princess, and he didn’t even want to think about the sort of influence her mother could have on her should Bellatrix retain custody of their child.
Rodolphus regaled his brother with the details of their latest argument and the glorious conclusion that left Bella with a stack full of legal papers. The story began much in the same way as many of the stories in which Rodolphus complained about his wife. The topic of more children was not anything new, and with Bella finally beginning to let him in again, he was optimistic about broaching the subject once more. He was wrong. So very wrong. Their argument lasted all through the night and was more of a war than an argument. She had thrown things at him. He returned the favor with a few purposely off-target blasting spells; close enough to singe her hair and make his point. She might have been the Dark Lord’s favorite, but when Voldemort needed someone important murdered, he called Rodolphus to get the job done. The only real difference in their fight this time was a single sentence uttered by Bellatrix that sent Rodolphus over the edge; a threat against Aurora. After soothing his rage with a little double homicide, Rodolphus, instead of following his traditional routine of easing the annoyance of his marital woes with several rounds of rowdy shagging with his mistress, found himself at the home of his family’s barrister. He demanded divorce papers be drawn up and noted that the man would quite literally lose his head if Rodolphus didn’t obtain full custody of his daughter.
There was no point in waiting until the next morning. Returning home in the dead of night, Rodolphus barged into their bedroom where Bellatrix was sleeping and woke her with a violent yell. He threw the papers at her and with a dark, vicious snarl he commanded her to pack her things and be gone by the next evening.

Too Much That Time Cannot Erase It sounded like a typical fight between the couple, but Rabastan still couldn't hide his smirk of amusement at points of his brother's tale. Hearing how much they literally tried to kill each other during arguments was hilarious to him, but it really wasn't an appropriate time to thoroughly enjoy it like he usually did, and so he held back, giving the occasional "hmm" or passing comment. He believed that his brother was doing the right thing in divorcing the maniac. Bellatrix had been becoming more and more unhinged over the years, especially since becoming a mother, it was best to be done with her and get rid of the association. Aside from sharing Aurora, they didn't have to be linked to each other at all, and that was best for the Lestrange family. Allowing a Black to drag their name into the mud was unacceptable. Rabby had gotten along quite well with Bella when they were children, considered her a friend, but he'd distanced himself from that friendship as the years had gone on. He was a perceptive enough person to be able to see that she was on a unique path all of her own, and Rabby didn't want to be anywhere near where she was headed. La La Land was not on his list of dream destinations. "Fuck it," he announced, standing up and pouring himself a drink, topping his brother's glass up from a bottle in the cabinet on the far wall. "On to the next one!" And the next one had better be completely sane and respectable. "Anyone you've got your eye on? I believe there are two available Burke sisters if you want to emulate your baby brother's success." Rabastan chuckled as he teased his brother, crossing the room to stand beside Rodolphus and clinking his glass against his. "To freedom." And to finding someone to give him an heir, though Rabby couldn't toast to that since he secretly longed to be the first to provide a male heir in the Lestrange family. If he and Lilith could conceive right away after their wedding, they could have a son within a year of the impending nuptials. Roddy still had to find himself a suitable woman and marry her before he even had a chance. Unless he wanted a bastard heir, of course, that would be hilarious. Women would be lining up down the street for a chance to impress the eldest Lestrange, though, so Rodolphus wouldn't be looking for long. Time was ticking. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Nothing You Could Do"]

If I am an angel paint me with black wings
Rodolphus agreed with his brother’s statement. Fuck it, indeed. He wasn’t concerned about finding another partner to bare his sons. That would be the easy part of it, and Rodolphus would greatly enjoy taking every potential match for a test drive in the proverbial bedroom – if he hadn’t done so already. No, Rodolphus would not be single for long and for that at least he was happy. The news of her eldest son’s divorce was likely to traumatize his mother and knowing he would have a good woman to take care of him would ease her mind greatly, even if she did fully and truly believe no one could love her son like she did. While Ceres wasn’t completely in the dark about her son’s marital woes, he had tried to spare her any unnecessary worry but limiting his public complaints about Bellatrix to mostly his brother and on occasion his father. Women only needed to know what directly affected them, so Ceres was informed on occasion that another grandchild would be in the future but the precise time was uncertain. If she ever began asking too many questions, Rod could easily shut her up by distracting her with some news of Aurora’s recent accomplishments. Even the most benign detail was like the cherry on an already sweet sundae for the proud grandmum.
Rod lifted his glass and gave a slight nod in his brother’s direction as Rabastan topped off his drink and began discussing Rodolphus’ future prospects. “Maybe I’ll make it a hat trick,” he remarked of the Burke sisters, though he hadn’t actually slept with his baby brother’s wife-to-be he was quiet familiar with what laid between her legs and if her sisters were half as sweet as Lilith Burke, Rodolphus wouldn’t mind giving them a go.
Clinking glasses, Rodolphus gave a weary smile. “Freedom,” he repeated. The word sounded sweeter on this end of the paper trail that led to an official divorce. Freedom from the psychotic cunt he called a wife. Freedom to bring more Lestrange heirs into the world. And – for a few months at least – to not have to hide his affairs in dark corners and shady pubs. He could flirt freely, within reason, and not worry that he was going to end up on the front page of the Daily Prophet in some scandal he’d have to pay and schmooze his way out of. It was going to be a glorious time and Rodolphus would enjoy every sodding moment of it.

Too Much That Time Cannot Erase "And maybe I'll get Mopsy to chop your dick off while you sleep," Rabby replied with a grin as Rodolphus talked of a hat-trick with all three Burke sisters. His brother's words came across as a joke, but Rabastan wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if Roddy made a move on Lilith. If he hadn't already. Rabby didn't know whether he wanted to find out or not. If Rod had fooled around with Lilith in the past, neither of them had mentioned it to him, and maybe that was for the best, because Rabastan knew he would be pissed about it, and the last thing the Lestranges needed right now was for the brothers to be fighting. Surely Roddy would have bragged about it at the time if it had happened. Telling himself that, Rabby pushed the thought aside, dismissing it for now. He'd stew on it later, or the next time he was drunk, then likely take it out on whoever was the most annoying person in whatever bar he was in at the time. His glass clinked against Roddy's as they toasted to freedom, and he felt genuinely relieved for his brother. Rodolphus and Bellatrix had been brilliant together, but things had gotten far too dark and stressful of late. To see his brother having a fresh start would be a wonderful thing. Wonderful and hilarious when Rabby sent Mudblood women his way regularly, Imperiused to believe they were Pureblood, so that Roddy would have no reason to suspect them otherwise. There was a smirk in place on Rabastan's face as he imagined the fun that was on the horizon, and the prospect of Roddy knocking up a Muggleborn and getting roasted by their parents. "And to fun," he added. "We should go out and celebrate. Get some of the lads together and make a proper night of it." Lucius and Fin would be up for a night of fun, Rabby thought, maybe a few others. He would invite his soon-to-be brother in law, Lucian, only the man had no idea that his future family and associates were Death Eaters and things could get rowdy when they were all together, pissed and off their faces. It could be a bit of a shocker for him. It might be best not to terrify Lilith's brother until after the wedding. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange words: 413 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Nothing You Could Do"]

If I am an angel paint me with black wings
The Burke sisters were all lovely in their own way, but Roddy had only had the pleasure of fooling around with one of them thus far. Rabastan was in the dark about his older brother’s affair with his fiancée and for peace in the family, Rod knew it should remain that way. He couldn’t help it though, if it came out in a drunken stupor one night, but he’d hold it in until after the pair were married. Rabastan, ever the dutiful son, would be sure to not disgrace the Lestrange family further by being the second man in the family to lose his wife, even if Rodolphus wasn’t so much “losing” his as he was chucking her in the bin with the rest of the spoiled rubbish. Rod could fool himself into believing his actions wouldn’t tarnish the Lestrange name but in truth it would only be a speck of dust compared to what could have been if he had bothered to wait around and allow Bellatrix to make good on her threats against his daughter. If she managed anything, Rodolphus wouldn’t hesitate to kill her and while he had dissuaded his brother from doing just that, there was a not so hidden part of him that wanted someone to take care of it nevertheless. Aurora would never see her mother again, if Rodolphus had anything to say about it. How he would address it with the little princess was something he hadn’t bothered to ponder yet. He would deal with it in time.
A devilish grin flashed across his brother’s face and Rodolphus quirked his thick brow at the expression. He couldn’t tell exactly what Rabastan was plotting but it looked to be something rather amusing, at least for Rabastan. The brothers had no problem taking the Mickey out on one another and their pranks sometimes went a bit far, though it was always done with a twinge of love set firmly behind a very heavy veil of black humor. He would have asked Rabastan what wicked games were rolling through his mind, but his brother spoke first, and the conversation was detained. “Brilliant plan,” though Roddy was certain this idea for a bloke’s night out was not the plan that had caused the evil glimmer in Rabastan’s eye. “I’ll need to arrange a security detail for Aurora. I’m not letting that cunt anywhere near her.”
As if on cue, Aurora’s voice broke through the room. “What’s a cunt?” she asked innocently.
Rodolphus burst into laughter at the question as Aurora came around to their chairs and crawled into her uncle’s lap, sniffing at the liquid in his glass. “You get the lads. I’ll ring father and tell him he’s got company tonight,” Roddy said to his brother. Then, turning his attention to his daughter, Rodolphus asked, “want to go visit grandad?” to which the little witch nodded excitedly, knowing lollies and chocolates were always provided without having to ask when she was at her grandparents’ castle.

Too Much That Time Cannot Erase Rodolphus was eager for the break of a night on the town with friends, and Rabby grinned as he began to plan, already thinking of Aurora's safety for while he was out. He was many things, despicable, a bully to those beneath him - and rightly so - and arrogant, but he was a good father, and nobody could deny that. Anybody who tried would face Rabastan's wrath. He wouldn't hear a bad word about his brother unless it was deserved, and more often than not it was, but badmouthing his parenting skills would never be called for. Even when Aurora skipped into the room, echoing her fathers words and asking what a cunt was, that still didn't make Roddy a bad father for using foul language around her, it just made him a loud-mouthed tit, a title owned by Fin Avery, though sometimes Rodolphus deserved that crown. Rabby scooped Aurora up onto his knee as she climbed on him, and gave her a squeeze, not missing Roddy completely ignoring her question. Was that what you did with children of her age? Ignore any awkward questions and pretend they were never asked? He supposed she was too old now to believe she had misheard the word. Lying to her might just hurt her feelings, so Rabby followed suit and failed to answer her. "Did you find anything new in your room?" he asked her, being answered with a squeal and an excited detailed account of the presents she had found in there. He had known she would like it all, but he hoped it didn't take the shine off of her actual birthday. He was of the firm belief that a princess could never be too spoiled, and could never be showered with too many gifts, no matter the occasion. And a princess she was, wizarding royalty, as Rabastan's own children would be, if Lilith ever opened her legs. He pulled out his wand as Aurora rattled on, unable to keep still on his lap as she gave him an animated account of things he already knew, and with a few swirls in the air, he had written a quick fire message and sent it to each of the lads, hoping they would all be free to play. A night off, a night of mayhem and alcohol would do them all good, not just Rodolphus, and the eldest Lestrange might find some woman - or multiple women - to take his mind off of his soon to be ex wife. _______________________ tag: Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange words: 435 notes: Finito! <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Nothing You Could Do"]
