Aurora was quite the darling, as she should be. Lilith embraced her niece with a wonderful hug that made Lilith hopeful of children of her own someday. Magic willing, she would conceive and heir for Rabastan any day now, she would love to become a mother to a proper little Lestrange but it would happen, all in good time. She was happy to hold on to her trim figure for a little while longer before she had to bloat like an Erumpent. She'd not had a proper look just yet but Narcissa was appearing rather trim. Rumour had it she was about five months along but Lilith had no reliable leads on Narcissa's condition and she didn't much care. Lilith may have been a little standoffish with a lot of the world because she was simply better than them, but she wasn't one to be cruel for no reason and Narcissa probably had enough on her plate. Lilith was well aware of the loss Narcissa and Lucius experienced the last time the witch was pregnant and Lilith kindly hoped for the pair that this pregnancy made it all the way through. What happened to Narcissa was every witches nightmare. Clearly there was something wrong with her, her whole family really, but it had reached the point where it was no longer something to look down on the witch for, but rather just pity. At least that was how Lilith felt.
"We certainly can, little fae." Lilith smiled at her niece before letting her go and returning to her full height. She straightened out her dress by running her hands along the front of her legs. She swept her right hand over Aurora's forehead, sweeping aside a strand of hair that had loosened during their embrace. "Patience is a virtue, Aurora." Lilith smiled down at her niece and then looked to Narcissa. She did look rather puffy, "It's our pleasure." She stated, because it was indeed. Aurora was quite lovely and the more time she spent with them, the less she was around that wretched woman her father had allowed to invade their home. "Please," Lilith spoke, moving towards the door, "Come in and join us for a spot of tea." She said, "If you have the time." It was a genuine offer, Lilith didn't do that often but when she did the sincerity was crystal clear. Lilith wasn't sure Aurora would want to stick around for tea with two grown ups, but she had plenty to be getting on with. A toy room to indulge in, grounds to play on, horses to visit with. Lilith knew that her house elf Mitzteig, or Mitzy as Aurora called her, would keep Aurora safe and make sure she didn't get into too much trouble. Lilith got word that little Miss Meadowes had officially moved in with Roddy and to say she was displeased was an understatement. Lilith couldn't believe it at first. Surely Rodolphus had lost his senses. There must have been some kind of an explanation as to why Rodolphus Lestrange, heir to the Lestrange company and fortune, would allow a known blood traitor to move in with him and his impressionable young daughter. Rabastan had tried to reassure her that Roddy knew what he was doing, but Lilith just couldn't see how that was the case. How could he possibly be living with a blood traitor? How did he not care about his young daughter? Aurora was nearly seven, she needed guidance down the right path, with her birthday only two weeks away was the other witch going to be there playing mother to the child of them woman she'd killed? That was a whole other side of the terrible decision Roddy had made. Lilith expressed her displeasure to Rabastan, finding herself comfortable with expressing herself around her husband, but it was no good. Rabastan was surprisingly neutral, in fact he was rather imperturbable by the whole thing. How could he not even care? Lilith would see to it that Aurora would have a successful upbringing, she would help out as much as she possibly could to ensure the young girl would blossom into a beautiful young woman.
There came a ringing at the door and Lilith made her way to the front of her home. She'd informed her House Elf that she would be greeting her guests today herself. Rabastan was at work and wouldn't be home for approximately another hour or so but Lilith had been informed that her niece through marriage, the very child whose future was in jeopardy from her father, was coming over for a little visit before heading home. Thank Merlin. The less time she spent around that wretched homewrecker, the better. Even spending time with her Aunt Narcissa was better than being around the influences of that wretched Auror. The doorbell rung once more and Lilith smiled, walking down the stairs, knowing how excited Aurora would be to finally see her aunt Lilith and uncle Rabby. Arriving at the front door Lilith waved her wand, the double doors slowly pulling open as Lilith slipped her wand away. "Aurora!" She smiled, spotting her niece. Bending Lilith reached her arms out to embrace her darling niece in a welcoming cuddle, a fun little greeting they had because after all, she was only a child, "Our darling Princess! Uncle Rabby and I are so excited to have you come play with us." Tag: Narcissa Astrid Malfoy Words: 444 Notes: <3 Outfit: Skinny and gorgeous, fatty.

Lilith was up for one hell of a night! She was getting married, throwing her life away so that some other family could carry on their family name through her. Lilith had always known this moment would come in her life and honestly, her parents had been more than generous in giving her time to find her own suitor but she'd not found one. There had been men in her life that she had developed feelings for, but none of them would be able to give her the life of luxury the way a Lestrange could. Rabastan may not have been the eldest but he was well off in his own way. The only people in the whole of the wizarding world with more gold than her future husband was his brother and his parents. Lilith was proud to be marrying into such an old, pureblooded family with such wealth. She came from an exceedingly wealthy family herself, her father willing to give anything for his children, so it was an excellent match that her parents had made for her but she did wonder if she could ever love Rabastan. He was Handsome, far more handsome than his brother, he was kinder too. He was understanding and he was respectful of her which helped Lilith feel at ease around him a lot sooner than she had been anticipating. Having come from a family that was founded on love, it felt a little against the grain to be told she would be marrying someone, despite knowing that would be the outcome of her life had she not found someone in her own time. It was quite a change of pace for her life. She was lucky to have been gifted her own home from her grandmother as an engagement present, one that had been in the family for years and that Lilith had always loved and wanted. Her grandmother had given it happily and while it had made her feel a little spoilt, she enjoyed her home and she enjoyed feeling very much like a Princess. But tonight wasn’t really for thinking on her fiance or what could have been. Tonight was about focusing on having the absolute best night of her life and as she was greeted by cheers and whistles, her sisters hurried up to her and she gave them and big squeeze whether they wanted it or not.
“To me!” She exclaimed, realising she had two drinks in her hand and she was more than okay with that and so she took a sip from one and then a larger sip from the other. She was letting loose and this was quite possibly the wildest she would ever get. Lilith loved her life, she loved the luxuries and she loved being better than everyone else - honestly, it was an ever so satisfying feeling for the witch - but tonight she wasn’t focused on being better than everyone because the night was all about how she was better than them. Tonight was about how she was the one getting married while the majority of other women in the room were either single or married to almost nobodies. Lilith had a Lestrange that she would one day be climbing into bed with. She was going to be fortunate to have his heirs and her children would be far better than all of their children.
Lilith had barely gotten a drink into her since she’d been there when Lyra started dragging her off. There was really no need for dragging, Lilith was a willing participant for the evening. She was the prim and proper type usually, but not for her bachelorette party. She didn’t want to waste this evening, she wanted to fully enjoy all that the evening would have to offer and with Lyra and Livia in charge, Lilith knew there would be plenty to expect and plenty to enjoy. Finishing the first glass of champagne as she was mingling rather quickly what with Lyra leading her along, Lilith lapped up the compliments on her dress, hair and makeup. She looked stunning tonight but Merlin, they’d drop their jaws when they saw her on her wedding day! She was going to look perfect. Angelic even.
Lyra was off and Lilith didn’t even care! She was loving the attention that was being showered down on to her. Usually she wasn’t the centre of everyone’s attention like this, but then again nights were usually about everyone, not just her. Lilith heard the band die down and like many others she looked up to a stage where Lyra stood in the spotlight. Of course she was the one to draw attention to herself on Lilith’s special night. Lilith tried not to think too much on it as her sister was only trying to be sweet. She made a speech and Lilith was pleased and excited to see where this was going. The band started up once more, laughter and chatter going on all around. The colourful lights moved this way and that while a mist rolled across the dance floor. Lilith was grinning with anticipation at what was to come, then the lights flickered and went out, there was a shuffling noise all around, people moving. The lights came on and Lilith was alone on the dance floor but not for long. The tempo of the music picked up, the lights danced around and six men came out to the dance floor. Lilith placed a hand over her mouth, laughing, fairly certain she knew what was to come next. Her soft blue eyes looked to the stage for Lyra but she was gone from her position up there, instead she was amongst the crowd, Lilith could tell because she could hear her younger sister hollering along with some of the crowd. Lilith laughed, hoping to see a show like this from Rabastan some day, while she sipped at her champagne and enjoyed the very visual show that the well muscled men were putting on, purely for her entertainment.

This evening was supposed to be a lovely event but Lilith couldn’t help but feel as though people were trying to step all over her. She wasn’t the sort to get bent out of shape over it all, no, no, that would not be becoming of a woman of her social status. Lilith had hoped to enjoy the evening and she had for parts of it. She and Rabastan had spent time with her parents and his, they’d mingled with a few of the older faces in the crowd before mixing with her sisters and brothers. That had been the lovely part of the evening, she enjoyed seeing her family and she didn’t spend nearly enough time with them. Lucian especially now that he was a husband and soon to be father. His bride was not handling pregnancy well, she looked all bloated and horrendous but Lilith had complimented her, something she only did for her brother’s sake. She loved Lucian greatly and there was not going to be any issues with his bride from her. Not to his face at least. She could of course make complaints to her sisters with regards to their new sister in law, although the pairs first wedding anniversary would soon be approaching.
The wonderful evening had peaked when Lilith had been mentioned in the brief speech by Adolph Lestrange, She was officially one of the Lestranges. Marriage was one thing but being accepted into a family was a whole other. Adolph could quite easily have not brought her to light at all, he could have quite easily just kept his guests happy by giving thanks for the presence but no, he had decided to go that step farther. It was a shame that the evening had taken a turn from there. Her husband was drunk, her brother in law drunk and a wretched human being that saw fit to bring a blood traitor to the party as his date and what was more, the filthy little witch dared to open her mouth and insinuate all manner of things about Lilith and Rabastan’s personal lives. She was out of place speaking about such things, far out of place and after Lilith had taken the high ground and simply walked away, she hoped her husband had said something to his brother and his inappropriate date. Rodolphus Lestrange was supposed to be respected. How in the Heavens was he going to keep the respect he had earned but having a murdering whore on his arm. Oh yes, everyone had heard about that. Her name may not have hit the headlines but everyone knew that Miss Meadowes had been the one to kill Rodolphus’ wife. How was someone such as that woman, so willing to walk around in front of these people at this kind of party? Lilith was not much a fan of Bellatrix, now her sisters, but for Merlin’s sake Narcissa was here tonight and both Rabastan and Rodolphus were supposed to be close friends with the man. How did they expect him to feel tonight? He would have to deal with his wife seeing her sister’s killer. It was most unsavoury and Lilith could not understand how such a circus was being allowed. There was the inability to say ‘no’ to your child and then there was whatever in the name of Merlin that the Lestranges had going on. They just could not nor would not say ‘no’ to their first born child. Well at least Lilith had had the sense to have Rabastan deal with the wedding invites with his brother, insisting that his whore plaything not be in attendance on their special day. Merlin only knew what sort of stunt she might have performed. Lilith knew for certain that she was pleased to have a filth-free day on her wedding.
Certain that the evening was positively ruined, Lilith continued walking in the hopes that she might find someone actually worth of talking to. Kingston and his wife Odette were not too far off and LIlith was rather fond of the pair. They were a beautiful couple and had adapted so well to their society. Kingston’s family had been nothing but common purebloods but then he had married Odette Lestrange and had made waves. He had married a Lestrange! It was strange to think that she was now related to those people yet at the same time it was rather lovely. Lilith liked the way that Odette held herself, the way she spoke was beautiful, both in French and English Odette was flawless and her accents just beautiful to listen to. They would be a lovely couple to talk with but before Lilith could so much as make eye contact with the happy couple, she felt a hand around her waist. She gasped a little and then looked to see her husband. He had decided to side with her - a wise move. Lilith straightened herself a little more as her husband complimented her. He was very lucky indeed to have a wife such as she. Wife. That was never going to grow old. “Such a vulgar creature,” She complained and then took a sip of her drink, “Why does he insist on making a scene by bringing her along?” Lilith wondered if he was just pushing his boundaries, trying to see what he could get away with. Miss Meadowes had not been sent away with her tail between her legs so clearly he could get away with anything he wanted. He had no limitations unlike the rest of them. Lilith doubted Rabastan could get away with as much as his brother, but then again she found comfort in knowing that Rabastan would never try to be so ridiculous as his brother. Her husband was a fine, upstanding man that she was grateful to be married to. There were all kind of unhappy unions out there, arranged marriages that were sadly not as beneficial as first thought, however her marriage to Rabastan was perfect thus far and soon enough they would fall pregnant with an heir for her husband while Rodolphus would still be the older brother that hung around with whores, had no wife, and only a daughter, no heir whatsoever. With every breath this bloodtraitor took, Lilith imagined her throat closing up and the witch dropping down dead. She was a disgrace at this party. The evening was supposed to be about her. Of course there was the whole Christmas element to it too, but mostly it was about Lilith. She was a new Lestrange, she was beautiful and perfect for the family. She had elegance and grace where as this country turnip could barley string a coherent sentence together. Honestly, it was almost as though she were talking in vulgar rhymes. Well it wouldn't do, Lilith was done. She didn't want to spend another second in the company of someone that was so very beneath her and so when the short little troll was done talking, Lilith answered her question by walking way. She wasn't going to waste her time on such a disgraceful human being and instead she was going to enjoy her evening with people that actually meant something. Lilith hoped in all that was magical that Rabastan would join her, he really didn't have much of a choice if he wanted to keep his new bride happy. Lilith wouldn't be second best to some filthy bloodtraitor this night nor any other. Her eyes scanned the room and she made her way towards a couple she'd have infinitely more find with.

The evening was certainly going well although not nearly as comfortable as Lilith would have liked, but that would come with time. She would continue to be herself, continue to talk with Rabastan often and be as involved in his life as possible without becoming overbearing. She was his fiancee and they had to get to know one another a lot better now that their wedding would be this year. Nine months was all they had left before their nuptials and Lilith was eager to know her future husband well before the exchanged rings and vows. She wanted to know him really well and just because she wasn't intending on sleeping with her future husband before their wedding, didn't mean she wasn't open to a little fun here and there. She wouldn't encourage this sort of thing every time they were together, but certainly when they were alone and the mood called for it, she might just let loose a little. After all if she couldn't let loose for her fiance once in a while, then who could she let loose for? "I'm pleased you're enjoying yourself." She smiled. It wasn't a large smile, it was only enough to show that she was indeed smiling, however it was genuine, which was a rarity for Lilith.
Lilith moved her hand to Rabastan's, stroking it once, feeling a metaphorical spark as she thought about what she was going to do next. She tilted her head ever so slightly, a coy smile gracing her elegant features, "I intend to make this an evening you'll remember for quite some time." Her index finger was running over his hand in a figure of eight before she took her hand back and pushed her chair back silently. In a way that was most certainly not lady-like at all, Lilith took leave of the table in a way, sinking beneath it, her dress magically fitted to allow for movement, and approaching Rabastan. She ran her hands over his legs, then back down to his knees before running them up along the inside of his thighs, parting his legs enough to give her the space she needed beneath the table. There wasn't a lot of room but Lilith may have been in a very similar position before, beneath a desk with her fiance's brother sat in the chair in front of her. She knew well how to manoeuvre the belt, the button, the zip. She did what she knew how although it was not something expected of her by those that thought they knew her. Lilith was aware of how she came across, she worked hard on maintaining her appearance as a perfect woman and for her fiance this small favour was a part of it. As Lilith reemerged from beneath the table, taking her seat once more and making certain she still appeared ever the lady using a napkin to dab the corner of her mouth, at least one thing was certain in Lilith's mind, she was indeed giving Rabastan an evening he'd not forget. Lilith was not going to arrive on time for her own bachelorette party. She was going to be fashionably late and draw the attention of everyone in the room upon her arrival. She intended to let loose tonight. She was soon to be Mrs Lestrange and so to hell with formalities for one night. Tonight she would have her sisters, her closet friends and work colleagues she trusted, or at least work colleagues she trusted more than others. There were a few extra clingers that would be in attendance, such as her own sister-in-law, but Lilith was fine with that for a change. She wasn't a fan of Clementine but the woman was pregnant with Lilith's brother's child, she could hardly exclude her. With any luck she'd give in early and head home. She was becoming rather large and her due date wasn't that far off. She could waddle about, eat all the food, socialise with a few people and then be off home where she'd probably stuff herself sorry and go to bed. It was laughable. If that wasn't her little niece or nephew then Lilith would talk ill of the woman, however the woman that carried the little Burke, heir to their family, deserved an ounce of respect and another for being the wife of her brother, but that would be all she got from Lilith.
Ready for her night of fun, Lilith arrived in her shimmering black and gold gown, ready to be the star of the night. She had her elf go on ahead to inform the staff she was there as she stepped out of her coach. As she approached the doors they were opened for her by magic. She spotted her face almost immediately and she approved. Her lips pouted in an amused way as she took in the sight of the Ambrosia Lounge, judging everything, very pleased with what she was seeing. Her sisters had done well, even better was as she walked towards her party a waiter came with a cocktail on a try. She picked it up, took a sip, enjoying the sweet pink drink that was poured with a heavy hand. The alcohol hit hard and Lilith raised her drink and her free arm into the air, shrugging off her cloak that went flying to the wall, hanging up somewhere behind the maitre d's desk and off to the side. "The bride has arrived!" She called, satisfied that everyone that was coming had arrived before her and could all bask in her appearance and cheer her on for whatever reason there would be beyond being excited to see her and for her upcoming nuptials.

The evening moved along splendidly. The guests began to separate and Lilith wondered at what point did they stay while the younger witches and wizards moved on to have their own kind of fun. Lilith wasn't much of a drinker in public, that wasn't to say she couldn't handle her drink, she just preferred to drink alone and with her typewriter or whenever she was with her sisters of girl friends, but evenings such as this were cause for fun and entertainment. They were an evening of live performances from a specially selected troupe where the world was watching her behaviours. Anyone that mattered was here tonight and as such she had to be on her best behaviour. She had to prove herself worthy of the new name she had while at the same time keeping her husband happy. It was a hard line as he kissed her while groping her arse for all to see. At least they were away from the older, and far more judegmental crowd of parents, but she still felt she had to put on the act of perfection. This evening was about fun, and judging everyone for every little thing they did. Lilith would not be caught out tonight. "Darling," She chuckled having returned Rabastan's light, albeit sloppy, kiss. "This is hardly the place!" She'd rather hoped that her husband would be able to hold himself together tonight, if not for himself then at least for her. This was their first engagement as man and wife, she wanted it to be respectable in the very least!
As if on cue, Rodolphus approached. His hand sat on his whore's arse and Lilith couldn't help but see the family resemblance between the brothers. Being in the company of that other woman was rather grating on Lilith's nerves and she'd only said two words. The woman had no respect and no class. She was beneath all of them, even beneath Parkinson, and still the raven haired whore insisted on interacting with Miss Meadowes as though it might move her standing up in their world. Ha! Hardly. "Oh honestly, Roddy." She said with a light chuckle, positively cringing at the idea of tarnishing her in-law's home in such a way, though without a doubt Rodolphus probably had, several times over, although she'd really rather not think of such things. She and Rabastan would stick to their own home, their own bedroom, and their honeymoon suite, and that would be adventurous enough.

What a month it had been. From their wedding rehearsal to her hens night, to her wedding to her honeymoon. Lilith had been having a splendid time and absolutely everything was going perfectly for the new Mrs Lestrange. She had been given a most wondrous wedding gift from her now brother in law which was that magazine where she worked. It was quite incredible. She naturally wondered how much Rodolphus had paid to buy the magazine. She'd thought of doing it before but decided it was best if she wait until she was married to make such a bold move on a company. It wasn't that she was against women in the workplace, far from it, it was excellent for a woman to have a hobby so long as she put her husband and family first, just as the man should do, only the men put the family first by working hard, bringing home the wage and supporting the lifestyle a woman ought be kept in.
The Lestrange name was a wealthy one and while Lilith had been by no means unfortunate or poor in her upbringing, the Lestrange side of life was still very different again. While the Burkes were still one of the wealthier wizarding families, the Lestranges were a whole different league and Lilith felt more privileged than she'd ever done before. She was part of a family that was considered royalty in the right circles and she fully intended to enjoy her new found status. Rabastan was proving to be a decent husband thus far, but as she was told before they were married, they would experience what was known as a 'honeymoon' phase that would last for approximately a year and then that would be different. They would talk less, be involved with one another less. With any luck Lilith would have given him a son by then or be expecting one in the very least. She was realistic with her expectations about her marriage, she didn’t want to be one of those women that spent their marriage wishing for their husbands to love them. She knew that so long as she and Rabastan continued to get on well then someday, they might just fall in love, but this was an arranged marriage, an agreement they both made and would see through to their dying day. Love was a childish notion but perhaps in the back of her mind - and her heart - she hoped she might find it someday with Rabastan. He was certainly pure and gentlemanly enough for her likings.
Gliding around the dancefloor effortlessly in her husband’s arms Lilith was thoroughly enjoying her time this evening. Her new father’s speech was wonderful and she enjoyed the spotlight it momentarily shon on her. She was a Lestrange. Lilith Lestrange and she was a part of this now. She stood by her husband’s side until it was time to dance once more. She had a couple of little dances with Aurora, spinning and twirling her niece. She wore the special dress that Lilith had brought her especially for the evening but while the evening was most spectacular, there was one part that was dampening the whole night.
Aurora was smitten with the woman Lilith had refused to allow at her wedding. The young child seemed to adore Miss Meadowes just as much as she did LIlith or even Narcissa. It was absurd that Rodolphus would allow his child to even lay eyes upon the woman, let alone interact with her in the way she did. Lilith had made it clear to Rabastan already that she was not happy with Miss Meadowes being there but there was little they could do. It was Rabastan’s parents party and as such they were the only ones that could have a guest ejected and that didn’t seem to be happening.
Sweet little Aurora made her way to bed, saying goodnight like a perfect young lady. Lilith smiled lovingly at her niece and then waved a little goodbye as she trotted off. SHe may not have a mother but she would most certainly benefit from having a proper aunt in her life now, not one that was a withering mess, losing child after child, letting her husband down month after month. The woman was attractive but there was no point in being good looking if you couldn’t do your job as a wife. Lilith hoped she would not have the same issues as Narcissa, but Narcissa came from stock that would marry their cousins. Some things were just going too far. It honestly tainted reputations, and the idea that Rodolphus had been married to one of those … people, was absurd.
The party started to divide, as was inevitable. Lilith stayed by her husband’s side but was still not impressed that so many were just so comfortable with trash being at the party this year. Naturally Parkinson had gravitated towards Meadowes. Her family were always the lower end of the Sacred 28 ladder but with what the family had gone through in recent years, they were even lower than low. They were barely holding on. Why Fin continued to spend time with her was unfathomable. She was pregnant and while Fin claimed it wasn’t his, the Avery name was starting to be dragged through the mud. Fin’s association with her was going to be his undoing. He wasn’t playing the part of a proper pureblooded gentleman, he was playing the part of a rebellious teen, despite being in his twenties. If he wanted to be taken seriously then he truly needed to rethink his ways. He was a nightclub owner. He was possibly the father of a bastard child. He was seen with all manner of women but there was no one consistent in his life. No one but Miss Parkinson that was. He was on a slippery slope, Parkinson was pulling him down and there wasn’t a whole lot her second cousin could do to make up his reputation. Marriage and an heir, a proper business and being rid of Parkinson would all set him on the right path, but this was Fin she was thinking of. The Chudleigh Cannons had more chance of winning the championship than of Fin doing what he ought to in order to bring his family name back up to par.

Rabastan was exactly what Lilith had hoped for ever since she was a little girl that had found out she'd have next to no say in who her husband would be. She had quite literally dreamt of a guy with handsome looks and a smile that made her heart leap a thousand beats. His manners had been exceptional and he'd treated her like a queen. Admittedly her dream mad had dazzling blue eyes and was not as ... heavily browed as Rabastan. Still he was the perfect gentleman, or as perfect as she had come to expect through all her teachings. There were many lessons to learn and she tried her very best to live up to what was expected of her. While many presumed that she was just a pretty face, Lilith kept hidden her enjoyment for more than just being an arm piece for a husband. She had pursued a career for a hobby. She enjoyed riding and training her horses. Like many other women of her status there was a lot more going on beneath the surface yet she refused to let too much of her self out. She had to let just the right bits out to charm and entice her future husband and from what she'd seen of Rabastan's little glances this evening, she was doing wonderfully.
Lilith sat at the dining table, a smaller room than the grand hall with the absolutely superb dining table to host galas, keen to talk more with Rabastan and eager to move on from the subject of work. Conversation was ever so easy with him despite not having spent a lot of time with one another. She supposed that would change now that they were well into March, their wedding set for the end of the year. "Thank you, Rabastan." She smiled, flattered by his charm and his compliment. It hadn't been all that difficult to arrange the evening really. She was rather talented at hosting people for the night be the numbers small or large. She had a natural talent for entertaining and seeing to it that her guests were throughly entertained. “When we host our own dinner parties as man and wife I'll share the wondrous praise we shall receive, with you. Would you like credit for the teacups or the dinner wear?" She smiled coyly, she had no intentions of sharing any such praise and if anything she intended on a little modesty, something that suited her well, but there was nothing more fun than a little banter with her fiancé as their starters of Cauliflower Romanesco was brought in by her ever diligent elf. Lilith knew things with Rabastan would become more comfortable. Their engagement was a drawn out process so as to allow her brother time to marry and settle into his new role as dutiful husband. She didn't want her wedding to overshadow her brothers and so she'd requested a date in the winter. Rabastan had agreed and it was set for December. That was plenty of time for their family to settle and fully focus on her wedding. The Burke-Lestrange wedding was to be the wedding of the year, it was only fair to allow Loosh and Clementine their little time in the sun before being outdone. Sure there would be other weddings in-between, Summer was wedding season after all, but no one would out-do either wedding, Lilith was certain of it.
There wasn't anything for Lilith to say. She just kept to her coy little smile and figured she'd let Rabastan get to know her more playful side, after all she wasn't exactly forth coming with her sense of humour and nor was she going to change just for him. Lilith liked to be proper and as such she'd made sure to be the perfect pureblooded daughter which had worked out stupendously. She was engaged to Rabastan Lestrange, the most eligible bachelor around, and it was all thanks to her lessons on etiquette and manners.
The idea of Sybil spilling something on herself was not far fetched. She seemed so very new to money and it was expected by Lilith that she didn't have all the etiquettes a lady such as herself had been raised with. She undoubtedly thought she was fine as she was, believed herself to be passing through high society withe awe, but it was not so. Those born to high society could see through any imposter, Minister or not, Sybil was no exception. "I'm sure you enjoyed yourself far more than you're letting on." She smirked shifting a little closer to Rabastan, moving closer and closer as their conversation went on, sipping occasionally at her drink before her house elf, Mitzteig, announced that dinner was ready. "I should think so." She said in her very own unique playful tone. It wasn't unusual for Lilith to jest with her siblings, they were the people that knew her best in the world, but it never really sounded as though she was playing. She was rather staunch to appearing to be a lady at all times and sarcasm grossly undercut that so she did it in a manner that one would not really know that was what she was up to. It took a bit to get to know Lilith, to know her little quirks like that, but it wasn't as if she was letting people in and close to her. The only newcomer to her life that she approved of was Rabastan and that was because the two of them were committing themselves to one another. They'd be married at the end of the year and she'd be Mrs Lilith Lestrange. It was exciting and daunting. She'd always known she'd be married off but it was kind of her parents to allow her to try and find love for herself before finding a suitor for her. Rabastan had been the year above her and in a different house. She'd only seen him occasionally at the high society gatherings, never really needed to interact with him really but when she had he'd always seemed nice enough. At least he was well off. He came from the most well off family there was.
Lilith had fun with her brother. She enjoyed his company more than anyone else's. She considered him one of her closest friends. She could talk to him about nearly anything and everything nearly but she did kind of hope that her brother's wedding to Clementine Nott was some kind of disaster. Nothing that reflected poorly on Lucian though. She hoped Clem's dress was a little too baggy or a little too tight. She hoped there was some kind of glitch with her hair or flowers. Lilith knew it was petty but she didn't like Lucian's fiancée all too much. She wanted for her brother to be happy. She'd hoped that he might find himself a woman he loved and could marry but it just hadn't been the case for him. Both he and Lilith were to be married this year, Lucian first and Lilith way off in December. Lilith hoped that her brother's wedding made him proud and that he found some pleasure - besides the obvious - in marrying Clementine because ultimately Lilith's wedding was going to be far superior anyway. "You'll look splendid, Lucian. Every woman there will be green with envy over Clementine's luck." She smiled, hoping to come across as sincere. She didn't want her brother to know that she disliked Clementine quite as much as she did, and she would do her utmost to be polite about her soon to be sister-in-law.

The idea of being related to a Nott was not a pleasant one to Lilith. The Nott sisters were both far too chummy with just about everyone they came across. They were pureblooded with some of the finest lines dating far back but they socialised with anyone from any bloodline and did it with a smile on their faces. Lilith glanced down the table and looked at the trio sat there. Fin, Euphadora and Evangeline. Lilith was disappointed with Finley that he would socialise with those two but no matter what was said he always kept that Parkinson trash close by. Her family's reputation was toxic and he was a fool. If she ended up pregnant with his child his father would would potentially disown him or kill Euphadora. That was somewhat of a silver lining on the dark cloud hanging over Finley. "Oh, come now, Rabastan," She said softly, looking from her fiancé to her future brother in law with a cordial smile, "don't mock the unfortunate." She stayed so very proper as she spoke but confident that Rodolphus would know that it was but a light tease at his expense, he was her former employee and actually he knew her better than Rabastan, in so very many ways.
Enjoying the light conversation Lilith noticed as a couple, one of the last to arrive, walked the length of the table. Her heart skipped a minor little beat as Julian walked with some child hanging from him. Lilith tried not to look and instead paid attention to Rodolphus asking about Knight and Humbert. The man was somewhat familiar to Lilith. She recalled him helping her during her first year of Hogwarts. Damn. He'd been handsome then and he'd only become more refined since.
The evening carried on and Lilith stayed quiet for most of it. Conversation was held but Lilith was more of a listener. She heard the words the Minister was saying but was not interested in her whole act. She kept her focus mainly on those around her but stole a glance down the table to where Julian sat. At one point their eyes locked and Julian smiled. She couldn't help but smile back but she kept it pretty standard. She went back to her conversations with the higher ended of the table where only the elite sat, a clear divide at the table, and it wasn't until Rodolphus left that Lilith reached a hand under the table and rubbed it over the top of Rabastan's thigh for support. With Rodolphus gone the conversation with Minister Galanis was going to fall to him and the few others around them and Lilith couldn't imagine it would be all that fun for him conversing with his boss, but despite his ministerial position he was a Lestrange and everyone wanted to suck up to a Lestrange.

It was hard not to notice Rabastan's little glance south of her neck line but Lilith pretended as though she didn't notice. When his eyes came back up again she took a deep breath and laughed it out on a light chuckle as he flattered her once more. He was charming, positively charming, but so was his brother and the kind of marriage his brother had was not something Lilith wanted to replicate, on the contrary, she rather hoped that what she and Rabastan had would be a lot stronger than that of the Black-Lestrange merger. She hoped it would be more faithful too but only time would tell. Lilith had always known that she would be the first of her sisters to be married off and if she made a good enough marriage then perhaps her sisters wouldn't need marrying off at all. It was all rather hard to know in their society, it was never really known just how many heirs there were or that would survive into adulthood, especially with the war currently going on. Lilith didn't much like to think of such things. They were a wealthy family, she was marrying into the most wealthy their was. Lyra and Livia would be fine in life and, hopefully, they would marry for love. Lilith truly hoped that for them both.
Lilith was sat beside Rabastan as Mitzteig brought in a couple of glasses of champagne and set the silver tray on the side table next to Lilith who picked up the two glasses, wondering just what she could do in order to "distract" him from her. She rather liked that he was in need of distracting but it rather put her on the spot. She almost asked, sarcastically of course, if he wanted her to juggle for him, of course she didn't want to scare him off too soon, if he took her seriously then that would just be entirely awkward for she had no idea how to juggle. Horse riding, yes, juggling, no. Horse riding didn't seem like much of an option right now. She wasn't dressed for it and she rather thought that might be all the more distracting so she had to think a moment. "My day was uneventful." She said, holding out a drink for him, "A magazine's headquarters are hardly the place to find intelligent conversation or interesting anecdotes." She was lightly teasing at the inadequacy of her work peers. She could have gone in to quite a lot of detail about just how uneventful her day had been and it would have been entirely boring and distracting, but she'd rather prefer her fiancé to stay conscious for their romantic evening. Boring him to death was not an option. "I'm sure you have far more thrilling tails from your days work." Such as saving the Minister from a nasty paper cut, she thought, but she kept that thought to herself. She didn't need to be a complete sarcastic cow already though it was entirely tempting, and perhaps a little too bitchy. Tag: Rabastan Aramis Lestrange Words: 509 Notes: <3 Outfit: Grandma stylez
