She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Either Dora was slipping, which she absolutely refused to allow to be the case, or else Toby was moving extremely cautiously. There was water on the floor, so that must’ve been his concern as Dora silently counted to a number she had not hoped to reach while waiting for him to join her – it was nearly double digits! His firm hands were cold against her skin as he pulled her up against him but they were both quickly swallowed by the warm water and each other. Her wretched morning was certainly turning itself around, and with gusto.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The party seemed much like any other party she’d been to recently; kid-friendly and nothing too exciting happening, but at least the Lestranges didn’t skimp on the booze. Dora was two glasses in by the time the birthday boy made his way back into the lounge, and Dora was well into a conversation with a handsome gentleman Kit had introduced but she’d already forgotten his name. He was boring and not worth the trouble his face suggested, so naturally Dora was looking for an exit strategy. Thankfully, the hostess strolled by at that very moment and gave her an opening. “Excuse me,” she told the man, slipping away as quickly as she could and swiftly joining up with Dorcas who was mixing her own drink. “Need them faster than the elves can pour?” she asked with a laugh. Mrs Lestrange didn’t appear to be having much fun at her party, but perhaps Dora just wasn’t reading her correctly. Women were harder than men. Men were easy, she knew what they wanted almost straight away, but women required getting to know and she’d only met Dorcas Lestrange a handful of times and always while drinking. There was a commotion and then the room settled enough that Dora turned to see what had happened behind her but there wasn’t anything horrible amiss, at least, not until the master of the house arrived home. Dora sipped her champagne, eyebrows raised, as Rodolphus Lestrange let out a crude demand in front of at least twenty people, none of whom were the sort she’d normally expect to find at a Lestrange family party. There had been an odd occurrence here or there when she’d seen something very late in the evenings at a pureblood party or heard a rumor about a discretion, but Rodolphus Lestrange was generally known to be a respectable man and Dora was not at all prepared to hear him calling for his wife in such a manner.

She was happy for them, mostly, but recently Jovi had been a twat about being better than Dora and pushing her relationship with Fin in Dora’s face as part of the proof. It was maddening, partly because deep down Dora knew it was the truth. Fin had less time for Dora now and she felt him being pulled away from her by Jovi, just as her father had been pulled away by her mum. Fin was an easier target for her insecurities if only because he was the one in front of her now, and with Pansy still screeching like a bloody siren, Dora didn’t have the energy to try to calm herself before responding. “What do you care if I have someone else to spend time with? We’re not married!” she threw back his words with a sneer. “You’re not the only one allowed to have a social life! I work all night long at your sodding club, and I’m not allowed to have a bit of fun myself? Shut the bloody hell up, Pans!” Pacing and bouncing weren’t enough to soothe the screaming toddler, and apparently all the shouting hadn’t worked either. The pain in Dora’s head was quickly making her stomach churn and the bouncing and pacing wasn’t helping her either.

Dora giggled flirtatiously. Of course she knew what time it was! It had taken everything within her to pull herself out of bed this morning and she’d consumed so much coffee that she was practically shaking off her own skeleton. “I realized I hadn’t told you the good news,” she explained, pulling herself out of her chair and crossing the small cubicle to lean against his desk, her bare leg brushing against his knee. She lifted herself up and sat gracefully on top of his desk, making a show of crossing her legs in front of him though her modest skirt and nearly non-existent morals kept him from any good scenery. “We’re going to be working together!” she exclaimed. “I’m the new receptionwitch.”

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
There was a chill that ran through the room as the bathroom door was opened but under the warm water Dora hardly minded it. Her skin prickled for a moment but she stepped back under the waterfall and soothed the goosepimples that had sprung up in that moment. She could hear Toby much more easily now that a wooden slab wasn’t between then and she smiled as she saw him beginning to undress. Good thing she’d done all the actual cleaning bits right away, so she could now feign that her showers were always a sensual activity as opposed to the escape from her beleaguered reality which they had become. She locked eyes with Toby as she turned in the shower, modeling her perfectly shaped bum for him as she washed away the last bubbles of her shampoo off her body. She counted silently in her head, one, two, three; wondering how fast he could get his trousers off and join her.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora smiled broadly as Leo complimented her appearance yet again. She had a good feeling about where this conversation was leading and she had had enough of these sorts of feelings to know one of them was going to suggest something utterly inappropriate for the setting and totally exciting before long. The outing, thus far, was a roaring success and she hadn’t even seen whatever the surprise was that Aly had been hinting at. Maybe she was just trying to set Dora up with Leo, but then why bother with the secrets and pretending the event was just about Jasper’s storytelling? Alice, better than most anyone, would have known that there was no need for pretenses to getting Dora laid. And involving children in the matter was wholly inappropriate and unlike Alice. Perhaps there was no intended purpose to telling Dora about the event other than getting Pansy out of the house for a bit, and Leo’s sexy smile was simply a spectacular bonus. And perhaps, now that she had caught sight of Clementine and Lucian with their little one, Dora could even manage to pawn Pansy off so she could drag Leo into the loo for a quick shag. Dora turned her hips in her seat so that her knee was ‘innocently’ touching his and she leaned in closer to speak when Pansy let out a massive burp and promptly squealed with delight.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Drumming her manicured nails on the desktop, Dora resisted the urge to rifle through Kit’s things, certain that if she were caught snooping in an Auror’s desk on her first day of work she’d be sacked. Not that Kit would have ratted her out, but if anyone else had seen her it would have been all over and this newfound coworking arrangement would all too quickly become a thing of the past. She waited a few minutes, scanning the heads of the people walking back and forth around the bullpen in front of her and having no luck in spying Kit. Dora chewed on her lower lip as she calculated just how long she could wait without getting in trouble for skipping out on her duties so early on in her employment. She hadn’t needed to wait long, as she was spinning around in the chair so suddenly that she let out a little squeal of shock before realizing what was happening. In a blur she and the chair were falling away from Kit’s desk and she put her feet out to stop her from spinning any further as Kit pulled a second chair up to the spot she had just been. She laughed as she caught her breath, beaming at her attractive friend. “Can’t a girl just visit a mate without some ulterior motive?” she asked cryptically, purposefully avoiding answering his question. “But if you did want it mussed up a bit, I think we could manage.” She wiggled her eyebrows at him and gave him a look that left little to the imagination.

Dora worked her painted nails through her tangled tresses, working the shampoo into a lather and making a mental checklist of all the things she wanted Toby to do to her during his impromptu visit. An extensive list it was not, though it was at no fault of her handsome bed buddy; Pansy screaming from her nursery wanting to go play or be fed or otherwise have her mummy’s attention did not make for an appealing aphrodisiac. Tilting her head back into the waterfall from above, the sound of knocking was muffled and initially went unnoticed by the brunette. She tuned in as Toby mentioned something about Pansy having a carrot and her eyebrows furrowed. What was he on about? Dora stuck her head out of the shower and beckoned him in for clarification. “What? I can’t hear... Just come in.” She had no qualms about showing off her body and having Toby drool over her wet figure was simply an added bonus to being able to understand what he was trying to say.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Thankful to have a second set of hands, Dora rushed off for a quick shower without even bothering to wonder what Toby had come for; no doubt he wanted a little something-something as always so there was little reason to stop and ponder his appearance. The warm water had only just managed to hit her face when a muffled knocking came from the bathroom door, followed by claims that Pansy had had an accident. Again. What was wrong with this child?! “There’s clean nappies in her nursery,” she offered loudly, hoping Toby could figure it out from there. She had already cleaned up one nappy explosion today, she needed no more surprises from little Pansy, especially if Dora had a sexy visitor for a few hours. Pansy’s nursery was decorated lovingly but had become a bit of a mess over the last year of it’s use. Piles of laundered baby clothes were left unfolded on the chair and baby books were strewn about the floor from where story time had been unceremoniously abandoned over several repeated attempts. The child had no interest for listening to a story, she just wanted to gnaw on the colorful pictures and throw the books around the room. Dora found it incredibly frustrating. The changing table, however, was stocked full of nappies and wipes and little bottles of perfumes and powders to make sure Pansy smelled as delicious as she looked whenever Dora dressed her up for an outing. Depending on the extent of Pansy’s accident, Toby might have need for a few additional powders or creams but Dora was certain he could be trusted to handle it for a few minutes longer as she ensured her own self smelled perfectly delightful and worthy of Toby’s interest for a moment or seven.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
She had been on her new schedule for about a month now and still hadn’t adjusted to getting up early, though that might have had more to do with her nighttime addiction than any change in her work schedule. She had managed to get up long enough to take care of Pansy and burn pancakes for a late breakfast before rewarding herself with a mid-day nap. Pansy was nearly a year old now, her first birthday was a week from tomorrow, so she was more than capable of entertaining herself safely in her playpen while her mummy snored upstairs. At least that was what Dora had told herself. By the time the tired witch managed to trek back down the stairs to check on her daughter, the worst had happened. The absolute worst! How one child could excrete such volumes was astonishing, and Dora was nearly in tears as she washed poop out of Pansy’s pretty, black curls.
Pansy might have gotten clean from her bath, but now Dora was covered in soapy water and either the smell was permanently stuck in Dora’s nose or there was something somewhere on her that she didn’t want to acknowledge. “Just sit right there,” Dora pleaded with the toddler as she set the little girl on the tiled floor wrapped only in a plush, white towel. “It’s mummy’s turn for a bath,” she explained as she pulled her top off careful not to let anything rub against her face as she disrobed. “No, Pansy. Just stay there. Stop.” Dora dropped her shirt on the floor as she dashed after the bare butted toddler who was crawling out of the bathroom, giggling and preparing for some form of mischief. Reaching the child just as the door bell rang, Dora gave an unattractive growl of frustration. Naked as the day she was born, Pansy flew into her mother’s arms as Dora headed down the stairs to answer the door topless. “Oh, thank Merlin. Take her.” Dora thrust the naked toddler into the wizard’s arms without so much as an explanation and turn headed back up the stairs to shower, shimmying out of her skirt as she turned the corner and disappeared into the upstairs hallway.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
To say Dora had been shocked when she’d received the letter offering her the position at the Ministry she’d applied for would have been an understatement. She was certain she had blown the interview when reviewing how it had gone to a friend who pointed out comparing the witch who was interviewing her to Dora’s beloved dog Mimi was probably not a very clever way to start off their meeting, regardless of the compliment Dora had thought it was at the time. She’d resigned herself to staying at the Starlight mixing drinks and getting hit on by all the unattractive blokes who’d already struck out with the witches on the dance floor. She was comfortable with all of her coworkers at the club and, honestly, she didn’t fancy having to get up early in the mornings for a job that was only barely going to pay more than Fin paid her and require a lot more actual work. So why Dora accepted the position as Reception Witch at the Ministry of Magic was still anyone’s guess, but regardless, she was excited for her first day at a businesswitch.
She was on her second cup of coffee despite never really drinking the stuff, but she was completely unaccustomed to being awake and functioning at this hour of the day. Merlin, there were times she would just be getting home and stumbling into bed – hers or otherwise – at this time of day. Having to be awake, dolled up, and ready to shine by 7am was going to take some getting used to. An exciting perk of the position that she’d only just realized, however, was that she was now working in the same building as Kit, and Dora squealed softly to herself with excitement as she pushed the button in the lift for Level Two. “Is Kit Devereaux in yet?” she asked the witch at the desk blocking her access to the rest of the Auror Department. She was directed to a tiny cubicle with a sad looking desk that made Dora feel tired, but there was no Kit. It was definitely his desk however, as his name was engraved in a little plaque that set at the front of the desk facing outward. She wondered if that was for his benefit or the people who came to speak with him. It was certainly benefitting her now, as she felt confident in walking around and sitting in his seat, awaiting his arrival to surprise him with her good news; they were to be colleagues.

No daycare, bollocks. That meant she her options were narrowed down to public daycare or pouting until she got her way with Fin. She would need a little more lip balm to prepare the proper pout. Dora smiled politely, ready to be dismissed and leave the topic there, but Mimi handed her a business card and explained that Pansy would likely not be accepted to the exclusive private daycare but she could give it a go and perhaps get a bit of money back if both she and Pansy were accepted into their respective positions. Dora looked over the card that read 'S.N.A.I.L.S.' in silver letters. Maybe if Fin went with her and played Pansy’s daddy for the day, they might admit her and then Dora could stage a break-up once she was enrolled. Ideas to be plotted more extensively at a later date. Dora had to get the Ministry position first, and she was still uncertain if she even wanted the job though it did sound easy enough and it would free up her nights for seeing her vampire friend, Hunter, and whatever other men she fancied. It would be lovely to have a proper nightlife again. “Yes, thank you.” Dora pocketed the business card and extended her right hand as she rose from her chair. After saying her goodbyes, Dora headed out to the hallway, turning back quickly to ask for clarification on where to find the exit, and then sheepishly thanked the witch once more before heading off.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The notion that Pansy could be a healer – or anything that required additional studies – was completely new to Dora, and completely preposterous though she didn’t say as much to Leo. Pansy would have to be incredibly smart to become a healer or even a matron, and there was no way a daughter of Euphadora Parkinson would be able to pull off those sorts of marks or work ethic. Dora was quite certain you could ask any witch or wizard worth listening to and they would all agree that Dora was not fit to raise any sort of intelligent child. The best Pansy could hope for was to take after her mummy in the looks department and thus far she was succeeding. Pansy had gorgeous orb-like eyes and perfectly plump cheeks. She was definitely a model in the making; Leo was off his rocker.
“Such a brave little lad, you are,” Dora exclaimed as Blaise showed off his sword. The boy smiled and Dora thought for a moment that Pansy wasn’t the only future model on the room. He was going to be a lady killer when he got older, Dora would have said as much when Leo pulled her attention elsewhere. Name advice? Confusion swept over her face for a moment before the pieces clicked into place in her head. “It’s a good job I had you to give me suggestions, then isn’t it, since this one didn’t turn out to be a boy after all.” Her eyes shifted to Pansy then back to Leo. “I’d have been rubbish at dressing a boy,” she confessed, though she didn’t really believe that but more so didn’t want to admit that she sometimes still wished she’d had a boy to carry on her father’s legacy, the Parkinson name, and perhaps even use her son as a reason for her own mother to come for a visit. Thus far a granddaughter was not enough to get Dora back in her mother’s good graces.

Dora gave a smug smirk in Fin’s direction as Pansy nearly gagged him trying for a chocolate. It served him right. He was being a git and clearly Pans was fed up with her uncle Fin blowing her mummy off yet again. Dora took Pansy from the hysterical wizard and rested her on her hip, giving her a little bounce in attempt to soothe her. The wailing was doing nothing for Dora’s headache. “You’re the one blowing me off,” she said with a raised voice, attempting to be heard over the screaming child. “You’re shagging someone regularly now and I so I have to find a new date for Valentine’s Day? That’s bloody dragondung, and you know it.” Dora was pacing back and forth across the kitchen now, shushing Pansy and trying desperately not to drop her as the pain in her temples pulsed.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Yeah, who was that handsome bloke making flirty eyes at her earlier, and was he single. “I don’t think so...” she trailed off without finishing her sentence properly and then looked up. “Actually, this is probably a stupid question but is there perhaps some sort of daycare or something here? I usually have friends watch my daughter while I’m at work but they’ll be busy with their own jobs during the day.” Had Dora has more experience with job interviews, she might have waited until after accepting a position to bring up her little parenting conundrum but she was sadly inexperienced in both job hunting and being a mum. “I’d rather not put her in a public daycare if I can manage. You never know what sort they allow in those places.” Children whose parents didn’t know how to bathe them properly or dressed them in outfits matching their own. Not to mention the muggle issue. There were too many variables in finding a public daycare but Dora had considered simply pouting until Fin gave in and agreed to adopt Pansy so she could regain her life back. He did well with her and a bit of baby mess would do his germophobic self some good.
