For five months Regina had been Mrs Black. She’d married SIrius on a drunken night in Vegas and it had been the happiest night of her life thus far! He was gorgeous to say the least and so funny. She genuinely thought that if there was a being in the universe that was most perfect, then it would be Sirius Black. She knew there would be plenty of others that would disagree, but Regina saw him for who he was and she always had. This was going to be their first Christmas together as a married couple. Heck, it was their first Christmas together full stop! She wanted to make it special. She’d moved in to his place the day after they were back to the UK. It was taking Sirius a lot of adjusting but he was doing relatively well, Regina thought. She was really willing to give this marriage thing a chance and what was better was she’d stopped taking any forms of birth control! She knew it was risky, Sirius didn’t exactly seem thrilled to have his bachelor life taken away from him at such a young age, but honestly, they were meant to be together.
“Okay, off you go, Kreacher.” She hissed quietly as she heard a key in the front door, so glad she had access to the Black family house elf because she would never have been able to be half as house-wifely as she had been without help. She’d had the house elf prepare dinner and decorate Sirius’ home in some beautiful Christmas decorations. It was the season to be jolly and Regina wanted her husband to be the absolute jolliest! “Hey honey!” She called from the kitchen, taking off the little apron she’d been wearing as she’d watched Kreacher cook. She put it over the counter folded up and made her way towards the entrance, flattening the front of her dress as she went. “Surprise!” She cheered with a grin, her right hand in the air, her left stretched out below as she showed off the house. The tinsel, the lights, garlands and wreaths. They were going to have a magical Christmas this year, but what exactly would they be doing? She supposed they could talk about it over dinner tonight, just like a regular married couple!

Out of sight, out of mind. Sirius was a simple creature at times, prone to getting caught up inside his head and forgetting there were others around him to be considerate of. Or thought of at all. His ‘wife’ would have hated to know that she fell into that category, one of the easily forgettable, but he remembered all too quickly as he turned the key in the door and heard the ear-raping sound of Regina shooing Kreacher out of the kitchen. He sneered to himself and wondered if it was too late to turn around and run to hide at Remus’ place. He’d spent a good amount of time there these days, more so than he had prior to that fateful, ill-conceived trip to Las Vegas. He had dragged his mates there for one last weekend of freedom before Harry joined them, turning their quartet into a … whatever the bloody hell a five-some was. Not a five-some like that, you sodding perv. He had no intention of getting blackout drunk – Siriusly Black-out drunk (he used that line for weeks after the fact) and getting hitched in a little chapel on the strip, with an Elvis impersonator telling him to “give your little mama a kiss now” after announcing them man and wife. When he awoke the next morning, foggy memories of a chapel tickling his head, he was certain he’d married Peter. Rather progressive of the states, he’d thought. Only, it was a different blonde he’d kissed at the behest of Fat Elvis, and she was flinging herself at him currently. Sirius forced a grin. “Regina…wow. You uh, did this. It’s…” He looked at the decorations and had to admit they weren’t half bad, but he’d rather she decorated her own house instead of his. He really needed to get on with this divorce thing already, but he smelled something baking and supposed he could put it off for a bit. Just as he had been for five months now.

Regina turned about to look at the beautifully decorated home she lived in, about 30% certain Sirius wouldn't do a runner while her back was turned. "Isn't it just amazing!" She beamed, positively loving Christmas time and all that it entailed. This year was going to need a bit of navigating, like would they go to the Lestrange Christmas party? She was expected to attend being the little pureblood Princess that she was, but would Sirius want to go? She hoped so, she wanted to pull him back towards the proper way of life, although she'd never dream of coming between his friends, she wanted them to adore her so they were going to have to have a little soiree at their place too. Oh the festive season was going to be so much fun! She turned back to face Sirius and grabbed him by the hand, pulling him towards her, "Look!" She said excitedly, turning her head upwards to where there was mistletoe hanging above them. She had completely put that there on purpose so they could have a little snog when he got home. She had no idea what he did all day, or if he even had a job, but she wanted him to feel at home and relaxed, and what better way to relax than to give his incredibly hot, blonde wife a snog! "Merry Christmas, baby!" She grinned and then softly puckered her lips for a kiss from her insanely hot husband!

Sirius seriously considered making a run for it as Regina turned her back to praise herself on her decorating abilities. Why had he come home? He should have stuck around Remus’ place a little longer. They’d shared a room for seven years at Hogwarts, the wolf could deal with him hanging about for a few more months until Regina got bored of being a housewife to no husband and left. Damn, he’d not been fast enough. She was looking at him again and now pointing to something above them. Sirius knew what he would see before he even lifted his chin. Bloody mistletoe. It was sexual harassment on a vine. Ugh. Regina puckered up for him, and Sirius obliged. She was a good enough kisser, and he’d been weak-willed often enough to know she wasn’t a half-bad shag, but he honestly couldn’t understand where she thought this bit of play acting was going. He clearly didn’t fancy her, not in that obnoxiously adorable way Prongs fancied Evans, or how Meadowes fancied himself. An expert kisser, it would have been easy enough to understand how, perhaps just in that single moment, Regina thought Sirius had some sort of interest in her. He didn’t, he was just really sodding good with his mouth. Pulling away, Sirius stepped further into the house. “Did you do up your place like this, or just mine?” he asked, following his nose toward the smell of something delicious.

Regina enjoyed the kiss immensely. She was wrapped up in this little world she'd created and she longed for more. She wanted her husband to actually want to come home and spend time with her. It was okay, they would grow to love each other more with every passing day. Couples with arranged marriages managed to fall in love all the time, so why couldn't they? Regina had hoped that he'd be more into this marriage by now - she was nothing but perfect after all - but it seemed he had far more on his plate than she'd realised. He was always out and about, often several nights in a row. They'd at least been intimate a few times and it had been everything Regina had imagined it would be! Sirius Black was a very thoughtful lover, although perhaps a little inebriated, but there was nothing wrong with liking a few drinks! It was how they got into this wondrous love affair after all! Although Regina's parents weren't exactly happy. She had been engaged, something she hadn't really spoken to Sirius about yet, and while her former-fiance didn't seem all that heartbroken, his parents had apparently lost their minds and yelled at her parents. Well whatever, it didn't involve her and her parents were able to scare away the likes of the Bulstrodes. Besides, a marriage to the Black heir was far better than some Bulstrode. Black heir if he made an effort to come back to his former life, that was. "You're so funny." She giggled, taking hold if his hand, "I've got a delicious dinner cooking," She told him, "I've made you your favourite; lasagne." She beamed, pulling him towards the dining room, "And I've got a bottle of champagne for us, or if you fancy I can make you an Ogden's and Pepsi." She gave him a little peck on his cheek before she pulled out his chair for him. She was absolutely, 100% the perfect wife! Perhaps some day soon they could have a dinner party, really cement themselves as the perfect couple. James and his mudblood wife could come, Remus and Peter, too. She could ask if Remus and Peter were seeing anyone and arrange to set them up if they weren't! A dinner party was quite possibly the best idea in the world!

Well damn, he did like lasagna. He could put up with a few more hours of psycho delusions for lasagna with fire whiskey and pepsi. “Champagne seems a little…” he rocked his hand back and forth in the air as the end of his sentence faded into nothing. “I mean, it’s not like we’re celebrating or anything. No need to pop a cork over a random Friday.” He didn’t know what Regina was plotting, but he was wary of it. She had already managed to drink him into getting hitched, and he was apparently being ‘funny’ asking if she’d decorated her place. Did she think this was her place? Had Sirius avoided the situation long enough that the nutter actually thought she lived here full time? He had half a mind to kick her out but then they’d made it into the dining room and the smell of fresh lasagna distracted him. “You made this?” he asked skeptically, attempting to pull out his own chair and finding Regina had done it for him. He sat. “I may be going out with the lads later,” he offered as a preventative excuse for leaving his own house on a Friday night.

They were married! Every day was a celebration of that, but if he'd rather just like to stick to something mundane then she was willing to make him whatever he wanted. This was the first time in a while that he'd been home so she wanted to make it special for him. Regina wanted to show Sirius that married life wasn't all bad, in fact it wasn't bad at all. Married life to her was going to be amazing, he just had to give it a real try. "Say no more." She smiled, sweetly as she could which was incredible easy given that she was as sweet as peach cobbler. She even didn't mind if he was going to head out with the boys tonight, she was such an incredibly amazing wife and she wanted for him to know he could go out with the lads. She wasn't going to keep him home every night, though if he could be home a little more often, she'd have liked that.
With Sirius sat, Regina leant over and gave him a peck on the cheek, "I did!" She beamed, taking credit for the house elf's work, as all good purebloods did. "Though I've made far too much." she gushed. She gave her wand a wave and over on the drinks cart she had prepared with fresh bottles of various alcohols, a glass levitated and a couple of cubes of ice levitated into it. While Regina made her way to the kitchen in the next room, the whisky and Pepsi started to pour itself in perfect measurements and her own drink started to mix magically. Regina waved her wand again and the lasagne, garlic bread and side salad all made their way to the dining table where it sat beautifully presented, all thanks to Kreacher, though. Regina had no idea how to set a table or show off food. She was rich and that was all house elf stuff. Regina came into the dining room and plucked the drinks from the air and set them down next to their appropriate places, "There you go, darling." She said before she set the food to serving itself up on their finest china - something she'd bought as a little wedding gift to them both a while back. With Sirius at the head of the table, Regina sat herself down next to him on his right. She waved her wand as their plates landed gently in front of them and the lights dimmed ever so slightly, the candles lit and the mood of the whole room became just that little more intimate and warm. "Bon appétit." She smiled and then picked up her cutlery, already enjoying their at home date tonight.

Sirius sat awkwardly as Regina buzzed around him like hummingbird, pecking him on the cheek when he wasn’t expecting it and dishing him up some dinner. She was cheery, far too cheery in fact. She’d always been smitten with him, had a crush the size of Uranus on the only sensible Black wizard, but he never remembered her being quite this…unhinged. The lights around them dimmed and romantic candles burst into flame. “Cheers,” he replied, taking a large swig of his drink. He would be needing a few more of these if he were going to be putting up with Regina’s company for the duration of their meal. He tucked into the lasagna and released a heavenly moan, eye lulling into the back of his head. It was bloody delicious. There was no sodding way Regina made this. He was certain Kreacher had been the real chef, which wasn’t much better. He wouldn’t have put it past Kreacher to try and poison Sirius’ food if he were able to, the elf had hated him ever since he denounced his family nearly five years ago. Perhaps his only saving grace in Kreacher’s eyes was that Sirius had married Regina and his mum would have been so pleased with the match if Sirius had ever bothered to tell her or answer the letters that had started arriving following the announcement Regina had put in the paper without his knowing.

"Cheers." She smiled happily, raising her glass and taking a sip of her drink. Regina felt she had tried very hard to make a perfect evening for Sirius and the fact that he had stuck around instead of walking out the door certainly meant that he was getting used to having her in his life so often. Regina felt that she was so fortunate to have such a marvellous husband, there was barely a thing about him that she would change. All she wanted was to see him more often and have his child. She loved her singing career but if Sirius asked her to give it all up to have his children and be a full time house wife then she would do it, without question. "How was your day, honey?" She asked, eager to start a conversation that was more than a couple of words long. She wanted that happy flow that most couples had, that give and take in a conversation where they genuinely cared about each others experiences through the day, and if he'd had a bad day then she was more than willing to help relieve a little of his stress.

Happy for the moment with his lasagna and glass of Ogden’s and Pepsi that would need refilling sooner rather than later, Sirius nearly forgot Regina was sitting at the same table. If she had let him relax in silence just a few moments more, he might have jumped at the sound of her voice. She was simply unmemorable most of the time and Sirius found that when he did remember her, it was mostly an annoyance tinged with a bit of guilt at inadvertently leading her on. She clearly wanted more out of this relationship than Sirius did – she was a good enough shag but beyond carnal activities he didn’t fancy spending much time with her. Sirius shoved another bite of lasagna in his face, delaying the inevitable conversation that Regina had attempted. Shit. She was trying so damn hard. Guilt was building up again, so he drowned the feeling with another large gulp of his drink.
“Same old, same old,” he quipped vaguely about his day. He didn’t technically have a job but he had been working for a good part of the day. Not as an Auror, which is what he should have been doing with his wicked skillz – no, he was still not completely over that injustice, but instead he was working for Professor Dumbledore in a non-academic manner. As part of the Order of the Phoenix, Sirius was a key soldier. Dumbledore saw what the Auror Academy refused to acknowledge; Sirius was a bad ass mother fucker when it came to hunting down baddies. Today, however, he mostly was doing reconnaissance with some of the older Order members. He much preferred working alongside his mates, but James, Remus, and Peter had other plans for the day. He took another drink, then forced himself to continue the conversation. “Ran a couple errands and hung with some friends. Nothing too exciting. I suspect you had a more entertaining day than me.” Merlin help him if she had, because he was certain Regina was going to take this conversational reciprocation and run with it.

Slipping into married life was so easy. Regina had barely thought of her other persona. Her career was worth sacrificing to be with Sirius, but she wasn't going to just abandon it, not yet anyway. She had to get pregnant, though. If she was pregnant with Sirius' child then he was going to have to stay with her. It was very clear that he didn't want to be married, forever the bachelor, but he would come around if they had a child. He wouldn't abandon his own child, Regina was certain of it. And with that, she noticed he was drinking well, giving her a confident feeling that he would be easy to sneak into bed with tonight.
Sirius told her about his day while she ate. She watched him talk but looked down to her plate to cut up some lasagna. She wasn't going to just stare at him while she should have been concentrating elsewhere, she was a maniac! Although she did miss his face every time she looked away from him. She couldn't believe how lucky she was being able to see his face so often, to be his Mrs Black. "I mostly I just decorated the house." She told him, looking up from her plate to stare into those dazzling eyes, "And cooked. Did a little light shopping. I've got a couple of new dresses and shoes." She told him, knowing now was the perfect time to bring up the Lestrange Christmas party, "I needed something new for Christmas Eve." She paused, picking up her glass to take a sip of her drink.

Light shopping, my magnificent arse, Sirius thought. Regina was lucky she had her own money – both from family and her career as a sodding pop artist, because with the way she went through gold, Sirius’ hefty inheritance that he’d received from his uncle would have been gone by now. “Planning to go somewhere fun, then?” he asked dumbly, mouth full of lasagna as he spoke. It had been a few years since an invitation to the Lestrange Christmas Eve party had been extended to him. The soiree wasn’t even on his radar.

Going somewhere? How was he always so funny!? Regina loved it and she chuckled heartily, letting him know just how amazingly funny she thought he was. She picked up her napkin and dabbed the edged of her mouth, "The Lestrange Christmas Eve Party." She told him, placing her napkin back down and grabbing her drink, "Only the party of the year!" Although she supposed Sirius wouldn't really know about it being so much fun. The last time he would have gone he'd have been a teenager and the party was certainly much more enjoyable as an adult as opposed to a minor. "I'd love it if you could accompany me," She said, lifting her drink and bringing it closer to her, "Mummy and daddy aren't all too impressed over our nuptials," She said, rolling her eyes and taking a sip of her drink, "Especially considering I was supposed to marry that ridiculous Bulstrode heir." She pulled a face of disgust, "You really saved me," She smiled, lowering her glass to the table, looking lovingly at Sirius, "My knight in red and gold armour." She said, referencing his house colours, the shades of which not many at the Lestrange Christmas Eve party would ever favour having mostly been Slytherins.

Regina laughed out of nowhere and Sirius leaned back in his chair, eyes wide and mouth full of lasagna. Had she finally lost her very last marble? What the bloody hell was so funny? He hadn’t made a joke, except pretending to be properly married. That was the biggest joke of all, but Sirius doubted Regina suddenly found it quite so funny. “Oh, that.” Apparently, she had thought he’d made a joke, and a terrible one at that. Sirius had no intention of hobnobbing with a bunch of elitist dick holes all night, especially not at Christmas. And more over, no one, apart from Regina, wanted him there. She was already prattling on now about how her parents were disappointed – they weren’t the only ones! – and how he’d saved her from marrying a Bulstrode. He was a right sight better than that other bloke, Sirius could admit that freely, but Bulstrode would have saved him a thousand times over had he fought a little harder for the nutjob sitting across the table. Clearly only one of them was dodging a bullet, and sadly it was not Sirius. He stuck his fork into a large piece of lasagna and brought up toward his mouth. “Nah, that’s not happening.” He shoved the overly sized bite into his mouth and pushed his chair back away from the table. “Vat lowt can thuck an egg” he managed through his mouthful of noodles and meat sauce.

To say Regina was disappointed that Sirius didn't even consider taking her to Christmas Eve was an understatement. She didn't want to push the subject because she didn't want to upset her darling love, but she did really want his company. She didn't want it looking as though she'd made the whole thing up. "Oh, boo." She pouted, picking up her knife and fork. "I know so many of them would love to see you again, darling." She told him, "I'd really love it if you gave it a little thought." She encouraged, although her hopes were rather dashed from his outright refusal and how he mentioned something about sucking an egg, perhaps? She wasn't too certain, but she knew that whatever was happening, it would be better with Sirius accompanying her. It was going to make him look like a terrible husband if he allowed his wife to go alone and while she didn't want that at all, she also didn't want to miss out on such a fun night, just because her husband didn't want to go. It was going to be such a tough decision. Perhaps once he'd see her in her dress, he'd want to go with her.
