She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
First of April. April Fool’s Day. Dora’s birthday. Whatever you wanted to call it, Dora wasn’t feeling particularly excited about the day. Later she’d be meeting friends for tea at a nice restaurant where everyone else would be drinking and having a good time while Dora sat smiling through the inevitable indigestion she’d have only halfway through their meal. She’d been told heart burn meant her baby would be born with a full head of hair and judging by the amount of heart burn she’d been having for the last several months, Dora was starting to worry she’d be giving birth to a yeti. Then of course there was the worry that it was in actuality a werewolf, but Fin had soothed her wild imagination almost immediately. While she didn’t know exactly who the father of her unborn baby was, she did know that he had to meet the standards of the resort they’d been at when she got knocked up. It was purely for pureblooded witches and wizards, right down to the staff. No werewolf, or yeti, or muggleborn would have been allowed anywhere near the island and that, Dora supposed, put her mind at ease just a little.
It wasn’t just the uneventful dinner she had planned for later that made Dora wring her fingers nervously in front of her enormous belly. She was sat on a well-worn sofa, one she’d sat on thousands of times before, only it was no longer surrounded by luxurious rugs and lamps and tapestries in a large room as it once had been. No, now the sofa sat in the living room of a little two bedroom townhouse that Rebekah Parkinson now called home. It hadn’t been a pleasant visit with her mum, but at least it was something. The first something in longer than Dora cared to remember. The last time she’d found herself inside the tiny home her brother had still been alive. Theon had taken the second bedroom and their mum, now widowed, had told Dora she wasn’t welcome. “It’s too small and besides, you’ve always wanted to act like you were an adult. Here’s your chance.” The second bedroom hadn’t even been offered to her after Theon’s death, not that Dora would have wanted to live here anyway, least of all in her deceased brother’s bedroom. Rebekah Parkinson was not a good mother, and not a good person in general but Dora still yearned for her acceptance and that was precisely what had brought her to the woman’s doorstep mid-morning on her birthday. She wanted to share the news that in a little over a month she’d be having a baby. Rebekah certainly had heard but Dora hadn’t spoken directly to her since before she’d found out, and thus telling the woman she was to be a grandmum just had to earn Dora a smile on her birthday. Right?
Wrong. “You’ve gotten fat,” was the greeting she received as a surprised Rebekah opened the door. Dora had apparently looked pathetic enough that the woman had taken pity on her and allowed her inside but the conversation that followed was tense and with little emotion. It was like talking to a refrigerator, one that sneered whenever you mentioned baby names or nappies. In the end, Dora never got the pleasant expression she was hoping for and soon enough her mum was ushering her out of the house, making up an excuse why she couldn’t use her fireplace to connect with the Floo Network. “But the healer said-” Rebekah shut the door in Dora’s face, midsentence, “I can’t apparate.” Biting her lower lip, Dora turned away from the uninviting townhouse and looked out at the bustling street. She was too far from home to walk, had no broom, and no access to the Floo. The baby kicked her hard as she looked around for an idea of what to do, and Dora pressed on her belly. “Not now,” she told the baby, scolding the unborn child for simply moving. She was in a right mood now, wanting to lash out at anyone at all and fighting back the urge to cry which was all too easy now with her hormones raging.
She stuck her left hand into the air, hailing the Knight Bus. When it arrived, it came screeching down the street, zig-zagging between muggle autos at impossibly high speeds, stopping so suddenly that Dora instantly regretted her decision. She hadn’t had morning sickness in a while, but the jerking of the Knight Bus was bound to trigger something similar, still she had no other way home so she paid her eleven sickles and stepped on board, holding her stomach as she looked about quickly to find a seat before the Knight Bus pulled away from the curb – too late. The bus lurched forward and Dora grabbed onto a nearby pole to steady herself and avoid crashing to the floor.

Post by Jasper Ignatius Flint on Mar 26, 2019 5:51:12 GMT
Jasper sat in his study, pouring himself over all the financial records for Avalon. Business was down but then that was the side effect of a war. It was all well and good this Lord Voldemort bloke wanting a pureblooded society, one that that meant you would be free to practice magic wherever and whenever you wanted, but what was the cost going to be? This man had been rising to power recently, it was rumoured those in power worked for him directly, but that wasn't what concerned Jasper, what concerned Jasper was that business was slowing down. All across the wizarding world people were becoming more and more concerned with what lay outside their own front door which meant an awful lot of people choosing to stay home rather than risk any sort of unnecessary travel. That hurt business and not just his own, there were plenty of people up and down the magical streets that were missing out on business and there seemed to be no promises made that would ensure their livelihoods would be protected. Even if there were such a promise made, by anyone, how would one even go about believing it?
Jasper was fed up of devoting himself to failing businesses for the day so he pushed himself away from his desk with a huge sigh, as though that would help him leave his worries but it wouldn't, they'd always be in the back of his mind no matter where he went. As he left his study he heard the front doors open and a cooing come from the front of the house. Jasper was headed that way but before he could get too far, a dove flew before him, hovering until he took the extravagant invitation attached to its leg. Once the white bird was free of it's duty, it cooed once and then flew off back through the house and out an open window in the kitchen, meanwhile Jasper was looking over the invite. An ivory envelope with gold and lavender embellishments covering it. Clearly far too much thought had been placed into the envelope and Jasper was willing to bet the invite inside was just as painfully extravagant. He broke the seal on the back, lavender wax with the Lestrange coat of arms pressed into it. It was far too over the top for Adolph and Ceres or even Rodolphus, so that only left Rabastan and his new bride, Lilith.
Jasper shoved the invite into his pocket after reading it. There was a strange sensation in his chest, a lot of feelings rising that he’d not felt for a while. He disliked all this business, he had done for a while. These invites were never addressed to just him, it was always him and a guest. Once upon a time these invites had been for himself and his wife, Mr and Mrs Flint, but not any more, now they were only for him and whoever he'd like to take and Jasper wasn't all that sure there was anyone he wanted to take. He wasn't interested in pursuing romantic relationships as of yet, he wasn't sure he could ever be ready for such a thing after what it turned out his wife had been doing behind his back. Jasper was certain it was going to cause instant trust issues in whatever relationship he entered next so why bother having relationship at all if you couldn't be sure you could trust someone?
Jasper stepped out of his home, lost in his thoughts of all the men his wife had been with. A lot of those names he hadn't known but a few he certainly had. Part of him had expected to see Rodolphus' name somewhere on the list, the man shagged everything that moved, but apparently he hadn't shagged Ebony so that was good he supposed. He was retreated enough from his friends these days, it probably wasn't wise to pull away even more, not that he and Roddy were all that close, but Jasp still considered him a friend.
Looking about Jasper realised he'd gone for quite the wander. He pulled his pocket watch out of his pocket and it dropped, landing on the ground and rolling into a bush. Jasper muttered under his breath and pulled out his wand, not dare wanting to put his hand into a dark bush without being able to see what was in there. He'd taken Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures in school, he knew all too well what could bloody well be lurking inside of some innocent looking shrubbery! Lighting the end of his wand with a simple spell, Jasp pointed his wand toward the bush. Nothing jumped out or grabbed at the wand so he lent over. He saw a glint of gold, knowing that he was well within reach of his pocket watch, although it looked rather muddy. Without taking his gaze from his pocket watch he swapped his wand to his left hand and pulled out a handkerchief from his left breast pocket. Bending closer Jasper reached for the chain the pocket watch was on and grabbed it successfully. He stood himself upright, left arm and wand out stretched to keep his balance as he rose. He took a few steps away from the bushes, focused upon his pocket watch. It was smashed and utterly disgusting to look at. At least, he supposed, he hadn't had to reach too far into the bushes and nothing disgusting had tried to kill him, so that was pleasant enough.
Turning around to face the road Jasper figured he'd walk home rather than apparate, he was only five minutes, if that but before he could start walking he heard a noise. He looked to his left hand where he held his wand and realised it was still well lit. "Bollocks." As soon as he was finished with his curse the large, purple Knight Bus was parked inches from his feet in front of him. Jasper sighed and turned the light at the end of his wand off and proceeded to tuck his wand away with one hand while the other folded the dirty and broken pocket watch into the handkerchief. Well where in the bloody hell was he going to go now? He wondered. He couldn't ask to be taken home because it was literally seconds away. He approached the bus, panicking about where he could say he wanted to be taken. He stepped on board, offering a halfhearted smile, "The, uh, the Three Broomsticks, thank you gentlemen." He said, shoving the covered pocket watch away into a pocket and then fumbling around for some money, passing it to the boy and getting a ticket in return. Grabbing on to a rail just in time, the bus lurched forward sending Jasper stumbling towards the back of the bus, keeping himself upright only thanks to the rail he had a hold of.
The bus zig zagged this way and that. Jasper sat and held on for dear life before the bus stopped again. He hadn't even had chance to pull out his pocket watch to inspect it and fix it up when a familiar raven-haired woman stepped on board the Bus. Dora; someone he'd met a few times when she'd spent time with his one and only sister, Alice. Jasper hoped the bloody thing wouldn't take off on her the way it had on him when he'd gotten on but there was no luck, the bus did what it did and Dora managed to keep herself upright. Jasper felt terrible for her. She was in no position for the bloody bus driver to be tossing her about this way and that so he stood, holding a pole, "Dora." He said, taking a few steps forward while the bus lurched this way and that, "For Merlin's sake, Prang!" He shouted towards the driver, "I'll give you a sodding galleon if you stop for five seconds and let the lady get herself a seat." He called, hoping the incentive of gold would at least slow the sodding bus down, if only for a few seconds so Dora could be seated properly before the senile codger took off again at breakneck speeds, trying to drive Dora into an early labour, something Jasper really wasn't keen on as he'd rather not get his shoes wet from the splash of waters breaking.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
One hand gripped tightly around a pole, the other held onto her stomach to ease the jostling. She was massive, or at least had been feeling as much since early January. At first her little belly had been almost cute. She could still wear her normal dresses and the tighter ones just accented her little bump. She received a lot of compliments from her friends about how adorable she looked, but as the months wore on the compliments faded – or at least Dora’s willingness to hear them had diminished. She felt like a whale and getting around was much more of a chore than she could have ever imagined, despite her healer urging her to gain a little more weight. She already couldn’t see her toes without bending forward, how big did the blasted healer want her to get?! She could feel her stomach leading her body this way and that as the bus zigged and zagged without a single consideration for the well being of its patrons. Her hand pressing on her stomach gave her a false sense of control as she was jostled from side to side, and when she heard her name called Dora’s head snapped up. She glanced around but her eyes if she had to be the size of a sodding elephant when she ran into him.
Jasper enticed the driver with gold to get him to stop for a moment. Dora was certain it wouldn’t work and she stepped forward to try and make her way toward a seat despite the jostling bus ride but just as soon as the words had left Jasper’s mouth, the bus had slammed to a halt and Dora’s body was flung backwards. Thankfully, she still had a firm grip on the pole and was able to stay on her feet but she felt sore from all the hassle and terrified that the bus would get started again if she didn’t hurry to a seat. Extending her right arm, she reached out for Jasper to steady herself and quickly moved to the first open seat she could find. “I hate this bloody bus,” she said exasperatedly, looking up at Jasper. As if on cue, the bus lurched forward once again and they were back on the road once more, building whipping past the windows as if they were nothing more than blurry shapes. Her hands on her very pregnant belly, Dora sighed. At least she was sitting now. “Fancy meeting you here. Ally didn’t send you to keep an eye on me today, did she?” She smiled teasingly at him.

It took a little while but the bus did actually stop, as in came to a full halt. As soon as the words had left his lips and the offer given, the bus came to a sudden halt, jolting the paying customers of the Knight Bus about in a most unceremonious manner. Jasper glared down towards the driver but he didn't seem to notice and Jasper wasn't going to speak up now that his request had been acknowledged and fulfilled. Still he moved quickly, along with Dora who held on to him, and knew that the second her backside touched the seat that the driver would be off again, expecting his gold coin whenever Jasper got off the hell bus. He'd been on for a couple of stops and the bus wasn't exactly empty, so he wasn't sure how long his journey would be, he just knew he'd probably be getting off around about the same time as Dora.
Jasper could easily related to Dora's hate of the bus and as expected as soon as she was sat, the bus set off again with no regards for the fact that he was still standing and Dora hadn't even been given the chance to get comfortable. Jasper took a seat next to Dora and chuckled at her comment. "No, though if she knew you were taking this wretched bus, she might." He commented. He knew that sometimes there was no other option, and in Dora's condition she was extremely limited on how she could travel long distances in a timely manner, but still, his sister would not like her friend travelling alone on the Knight Bus in her condition, heck Jasper didn't like it. "Off anywhere nice?" He asked, wanting to put forth an effort to make friendly conversation.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
One hand on her stomach, the baby wriggling wildly with confusion as to what was happening in the outside world, and the other hand gripped tightly on the arm of the seat, Dora breathed deeply. “I certainly didn’t plan for it,” she said of her trip on the Knight Bus, under her breath and mostly to herself but Jasper was sitting just beside her and at this very moment she didn’t much care whether he heard her or not. Her remark was easily explained away by the surprise little one she carried in her belly or any other number of excuses. Did anyone ever really plan for a journey on this horrid bus if they could at all avoid it?
“Home, actually. I’ve just had a visit with my mum. She’s very excited to be a gran soon.” A bold faced lie, but Dora sold it well or at least she thought she did. The Parkinson’s had years of practice hiding conflict from the rest of society, even if Dora refused to acknowledge it herself. She was still firmly under the belief that her father had adored her and that she had had a happy childhood. She planned to give her own little one a happy childhood just as she believed she had had, any maybe Rebekah Parkinson would look more favorably on the situation come the time. “Where are you off to, in the gloriously monstrous vehicle? I would think you’d have better means of travel, unless…are you also pregnant? My, what marvels will magic come up with next?” She grinned at her own joke, pearly white teeth flashing at him.

Well no, Jasper supposed one wouldn't necessarily plan to ride on this wretched bus. He certainly hadn't and he'd been too embarrassed to tell the conductor his calling of the bus had been a mistake, after all despite the horrid job that they did, they were still doing a job and the idea of wasting anyone's time wasn't one that sat well with Jasper. He had multiple businesses to run, some of which had been neglected, and he himself was a Healer by trade so he knew that time was a precious commodity. You could have all the time turners in the world and time would still be a gift, at least in Jasper's eyes. He'd seen young lives lost, time stolen from people that truly didn't deserve it, some suffered, some didn't but it was always a sadness, especially for the loved ones left behind, the ones whose lives were forever affected.
Jasper smiled as Dora explained where she'd been. A new baby was cause for joy and it was good that Dora's mother was pleased to be a grandmother soon. The family had certainly suffered quite a few losses so a baby was a beautiful little addition. Dora seemed well and pregnancy seemed to give her a more pinky colour that made her glow rather than looking sickly, which a few women experienced, although Jasper and his wife had never experienced the joys of pregnancy, despite him believing they'd been trying. "Ha ha." He chuckled sarcastically at her comments of him being pregnant, "I'm just off to The Three Broomstick. I fancied paying Hogsmeade a visit." He smiled, perhaps looking a little sheepish due to his mistake of summoning the Knight Bus when he'd not needed it in the first place, but he was avoiding her comment of better travel options and hoping she'd not enquire again because he honestly wasn't sure if he could come up with a lie under pressure.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Button nose wrinkling with a nearly silent laughter, Dora was pleased for a bit of good-willed company after her visit with her mum. She’d not expected to see any familiar faces until this evening and while she had not been planning for her visit to go so poorly, it was the greatest luck that Jasper was hitching a ride to Hogsmeade at this very moment. Such strange fate, she was glad for it. “Hogsmeade, I haven’t been there in ages!” Trips to the all wizarding village had lost their flair since the attack a few years ago. It brought back painful memories of the smaller Death Eater attack she'd endured year earlier. She’d been injured in a small shop in Dublin as a teenager by the same group that had perpetrated the larger attack on Hogsmeade not long ago, and the village had all but lost its appeal since then. It was becoming more difficult to find someplace safe to go, and despite being as pure as pureblooded could be and clearly not the intended target in these attacks, Dora was not immune to bystander accidents. Anyplace clearly targeted was of no appeal to Dora, which put Godric’s Hollow (not that she’d want to go there, the dingy little farmer town) and Hogsmeade squarely on her restricted zones. Both had seen large-scale attacks in recent years, and while her attack had been years ago, the idea of that sort of fear and pain created an uncomfortable feeling within her.
“Oh my gods,” she said, the flash of a lovely memory from Hogsmeade coming to her suddenly. She moved her hand from her stomach to Jasper’s knee to turn his attention to her thoughts. “Ally and I used to dare the third and fourth years to knick us liquor from the bar, and this one Ravenclaw told the owners on us, so Ally…” This wasn’t a story an older brother wanted to hear but that didn't stop Dora from detailing the ensuing hilarity; his little sister trying to flirt with a grown, married man to get out of trouble. She’d not been successful, neither had Dora, but it had been a fun tale to tell after that. “I think he’s dead now,” Dora said as her story concluded. “The owner,” she clarified. “That attack on the Hogsmeade and the Three Broomsticks a few year back,” her smiling face dimmed a little, thinking of the attack or what she could remember of it from the Daily Prophet. Putting on another false smile, Dora tried to shift the tone of the sad story she’d ended up telling. “They’ve rebuilt it by now, haven’t they? I haven’t been there since before the attack, but I did used to love Honeydukes. They had the best chocolate.” Hand returning to her belly, she smoothed her dress over her stomach, her other hand still clutching the arm of the seat for dear life as the knight bus zigged and zagged before coming to a screeching stop to let another patron off.

Jasper smiled, not many people did visit Hogsmeade once they were out of school. In school it was a brilliant break away from the school from your third year on, but after graduating the visits became far too few. Jasper liked to pay it a visit every now and then, like today for example, although usually he planned his visits to be intentional, today's visit was a last minute panic because he had no idea where else he could have gone in the moment of the Knight Buses arrival. In hindsight he could think of plenty of other places to have picked from, he could even have done the cocky thing and accused them of being mistaken but he'd never have the gall to pull that kind of stunt, it simply wasn't him. Instead he'd just got on the bus, said the first thing that popped into his mind and then run into Dora. It wasn't the best way to catch up with someone but it was certainly a very Jasper thing to do. He was often finding himself in strange situations like these and he was sure this wouldn't be the last of it all.
"Oh yes. All fixed up and good as new, you can hardly tell anything ever happened there." He stated. It was good in a way because it meant people could just carry on with their lives, but it left an eerie sort of feeling, knowing that so much damage was done and it was all just covered up. It was as though nothing at all had changed and yet everything that had made Hogsmeade a safe and enjoyable place to visit was gone. "Honeydukes is quite irresistible. I'll certainly be making a stop there and picking up a few of the old favourites." He braced himself as the bus came to a temporary stop and allowed someone the decency of escaping. It would be good to visit Hogsmeade, Dora was reminding him of what a beautiful place it was. It certainly held a lot of happy memories and he wouldn't be sorry for visiting once more.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The stopping of the bus caused her large belly to jostle uncomfortably. Dora shifted in her seat but the bus was quickly zipping off once more before she’d found a more comfortable position. They were far and few to come by these days but she only had just over a month left, then she’d have a gorgeous little baby to show off and bring her all sorts of attention – not to mention her slender figure back. She was looking forward to that bit the most. There had been absolutely no way of knowing just how much of a strain pregnancy was going to put on her body when she’d decided to keep the thing, and now there wasn’t much left to do but wait and plan out her outfits for her post-baby figure. She had a dress in mind for leaving the hospital but it hadn’t yet dawned on her that she might need to also prepare an outfit for the baby. Not to worry, she’d been given loads of adorable little robes and booties, all hanging up in the nursery’s walk-in wardrobe.
Hearing Hogsmeade had been fixed right up was nice, she didn’t like the idea of the rubble just laying there in the street. Though, why wouldn’t it have been sorted? She chastised herself silently for even questioning whether or not the village had been rebuilt, it was the only completely non-muggle village in Scotland. It had to be top priority for the Ministry. Her lapse of good judgement could easily be explained away as pregnancy brain, and she would blame her sudden craving on the baby as well. “Feel free bring me a bit of chocolate on your way home. We’ll count that as my birthday gift from you. You’re such a gentleman, Jas.” She winked at him and gave him a flirty smile, happy to know that he was gentlemanly enough not to be outwardly disgusted by her enormous stomach if she flirted with him a little. She was hardly going to do anything, given her state, and the fact that he was Ally’s big brother – alright, it was mostly her current state that was keeping her knickers on but he was still in mourning after the loss of his wife so it was hardly an appropriate time.

Jasper chuckled at Dora's request of chocolate, there was no way he could ever say 'No' to a lady, especially not a pregnant one so he would most certainly buy her chocolate but on top of that, it was her birthday? Well why wasn't she celebrating right now? Surely there were better things to be doing than travelling on the worst bus in history. "It's your birthday?" He asked, his broke quirking a little in surprise, "Well happy birthday, Dora." He said, hoping that, apart from the bus ride, that she was having a lovely day. "I feel like you should get more than just some chocolates, though!" He would definitely be buying her some chocolates and he felt like he needed to get her a little something else to go with them but he had no idea what he might get her. Jewellery was far too intimate, even Jasper knew that, and clothes were far too risky. Even if she wasn't pregnant he wouldn't have been able to safely guess what size she needed but with the lovely little bump she had, there was no way he could accurately guess what size she'd need, not to mention he had no idea what she might like. He'd quite likely pick the ugliest thing in the store, thinking it looked nice and would look lovely on Dora, and then she'd hate it and it would make her look like a turnip or something equally unflattering. No, he was definitely going to need help on this one because even alcohol was off the table.
"So have you got plans for your birthday?" He asked. Dora seemed like the popular sort of girl. She was super friendly and always smiling when he saw her. She was flirty but not in a way that made you think she was genuinely hitting on you, even Jasper knew it was just the way she was and how she showed she was a nice girl. He couldn't see anyone taking her the wrong way really, but he knew there were drama queens out there that would do anything they could for a bit of time in the limelight, talking and complaining about such a happy individual. In Jasper's opinion Dora was a lovely woman, a strong individual and someone people should be lucky to call their friend. He was glad that his sister knew her and hoped that the two were still close, despite no longer being at Hogwarts with one another.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
She nodded at his question, confirming the importance of the day and accepting his birthday well wishes. “Ta.” She rubbed her belly absentmindedly. “Believe me, you don’t want to get me anything more than chocolates. My arse is the size of a erumpent already, but I could probably eat the whole of Honeydukes’ store room.” She laughed lightly, unworried about the unflattering comment regarding her backside. Jasper was not the sort of wizard to judge her too harshly on her appearance. He would have understood. She was sure he and his wife would have talked of having their own children at some point, had she lived, so a pregnant woman in his presence wouldn’t have been too unsightly. She hoped.
Jasp asked after her birthday plans and she was happy that, at least for the latter half of her day, she was certain to have a smashing good time. “Oh yes. I’m meeting some friends for tea. Ally is supposed to be there.” An inspired look washed over her and she sat up straighter, the bus swaying her slightly as she looked at the handsome wizard. “You should come! I have a few single girlfriends that you might get on with.” Jasper was such a lovely bloke, he deserved to be happy. Dora didn’t mind playing match maker for him. His wife had been gone nearly a year now, by her count, and while she assumed he would find it too early to seriously date someone, there wasn’t any harm in having a little fun in the meantime. She didn’t know Jasper all too well, but he always struck her as a bit of the opposite of herself. He liked relationships, clearly, and was very respectful of everyone, measuring his words before saying them. Dora and relationships were like water and oil. And having any real brain to mouth filter was a virtue she still lacked, even more so as her brain turned to mush with the pregnancy. What she did know was that regardless of her current situation, she and Jasper wouldn’t make for a good pair long term, so there was no point in his having a good time in the meantime with her. She wasn’t that sort, but she knew plenty of girls that would love to shag the handsome widower and wouldn’t make him feel tawdry afterwards.

If Dora thought she had a huge arse then she was exceedingly mistaken. She was far from large anywhere. Even her baby bump was petite, although it did look a little large on her, but that was only because she was such a tiny little being, but the bump, on a scale of all the bumps he'd seen, was petite for absolute certainty. If she wanted to eat all the sweets and chocolates that Honeydukes had to offer then all she'd have to worry about was her risk of diabetes and being too sweet! Something he knew not to say out loud because it was far too corny, even for him.
With Dora expecting a visit from his sister, Jasper thought he could perhaps send the box of chocolates he was planning on buying Dora to go along with Ally but he couldn't exactly just drop by Ally's place and ask her to take a box of chocolates along to her friend's house with her because that would, for one, be weird, and two, be super weird. Jasper could do better than that and a gift, no matter how small, was best given in person. Although it would be more than just a box of chocolates. A box of chocolates was practically juvenile. "Oh, I couldn't." He chuckled, "I mean I'd love to, but I don't want to crowd Ally. There’s a strong possibility that she’d find my presence there embarrassing." He chuckled gently. The idea of being set up by Dora was odd. All the people she knew were probably her age, possibly younger, and the thought of possibly being set up with someone that was Ally's age was a little uncomfortable for him, however Jasper recalled vividly what he'd read in his wife's diary, or whatever it was that she had called it when she was alive, and he figured there could be worse things, however he was not going to openly admit he'd be up for it up some stage. Perhaps if the conversation drifted that way naturally the next time Jasper saw Dora, he might let her give it a go.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
“Pish posh,” she exclaimed, flippantly ushering off his concern for embarrassment with a flap of her free hand. The bus darted between two tall buildings, seemingly down an alleyway that wasn’t actually large enough for a vehicle to pass through. Everything and everyone on board the knight bus seemed to elongate as the width of the bus squished itself into the narrow passageway, but other than looking strangely, Dora felt no discomfort. She continued, interrupted. “Who could possibly be embarrassed at their sibling’s presence? Theon adored whenever I came ‘round.” That was, perhaps, a slight exaggeration clouded by rose-colored glasses and an ideation of the men in her life that she had lost all too soon. She and Theon were definitely closer than many siblings Dora knew. Fin and Anna loathed each other, and Narcissa didn’t even speak to her Andromeda any longer. In her mind, Dora’s relationship with her late brother was on par with Kit and Ollie’s, or Clem and Evie’s. The true strength of the Parkinson bond was perhaps lost to time, but they had at one time, adored each other’s company to some degree. “Ally’s lucky to have you, but if you’d rather not come by I won’t hold it against you.”
The bus lurched forward suddenly, causing Dora to gasp audibly and grab Jasper’s arm for support before they were flung back into their seats as the bus came to a jarring stop. “Pontypridd!” Prang, the bus driver, shouted her destination as the doors flung open.
“Thank the gods,” Dora muttered under her breath, eager to get away from the wretched bus. She’d managed to make it all the way home without getting sick on anyone, herself included, and she decided to call that a victory for the trip to her mum’s. If nothing else about her visit was notable, at least she didn’t get sick all over the handsome Jasper Flint on the journey home. “This is my stop," she explained, still not completely used to her new city just yet. "Have a lovely time in Hogsmeade,” she said, giving Jasp a chaste kiss on the cheek before heaving herself up onto her tall heels and waddling her way toward the bus exit.
