If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun Ollie cringed as the announcer on the radio signed off. That had been rough to listen to. It was good practice to know as much about the opposing teams as possible, to improve your own game but admittedly Ollie paid more mind to Applebee Arrows announcements and stats than the other teams. His little sisters’ best mate was one the team and she was making a good name for herself. He liked Echo. She was fun and always gave him back whatever teasing he sent her way. He’d made a point to start up a few chats now and again, to ask after her game and see how she was adjusting to being in the relative spotlight. He would attend the press conferences when he could, but if he couldn’t be there then listening to the broadcast of it was the next best thing and this one had been rough. It felt to Ollie that the reporters were targeting Echo, though in fairness that might have just been his defenses up where it came to the witch. Even still, the broadcast didn’t leave a good taste in his mouth after the fact and he imagined Echo would probably feel the same way. He could very clearly remember his first press conference beating and it had been no fun at all. Every player went through it at some point, some less often than others, but there was no one entirely immune to the judgements of armchair referees. Leaky Cauldron at 8. Butterbeers, my treat. – Ollie He sent a poorly written letter with the family owl to invite Echo out for drinks, to either lick her wounds or talk shit on the reporters who were being unnecessarily harsh to the rookie player. At quarter till, he disapparated from his home to the magical entrance of Diagon Alley and pulled open the door. It was crowded, as was expected on a Friday night, but Ollie had an in with the owner and he flashed Tessa a charming smile as he entered. “You seen a blonde around here?” he asked the bartender. “About ye high,” he raised his hand up to Echo’s approximate height, “real cute.” So long as she or his sisters didn’t overheard his description of Echo, he’d be fine and it was the most accurate way to paint a picture of her. “I might have beat her here,” he admitted, more to himself but he didn’t mind sharing little details with Tessa. She was a doll and a great person to chat with. And a new mum, to boot. Ollie admired her ability to maintain this place, put up with all the dragon dung that came with owning a pub, and raise an adorable little baby all at the same time. He’d have babies one day, possibly, and if they were half as cute as little Hannah, Ollie would be blessed.

But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before Tessa checked her watch for what must have been the fiftieth time in the past ten minutes alone. Her shift was finished in half an hour and then she would be free to leave Billy to keep the pub running smoothly until closing time. Hannah was upstairs, sound asleep in her cot with her babysitter, who cost an arm and a leg but was necessary if Tess ever wanted to get back into work. She hadn't been running the Leaky Cauldron for long, but she found she enjoyed it, and she was good at it, and really, what more could you ask of a job? It had surprised her, in all honesty, she had never imagined herself in the role, it should have been her older brother Rufus. Now she often wondered what would have become of herself and Hannah if Rufus hadn't refused the pub. If it hadn't been forced on her, her life could be a lot worse right now, and Hannah's, too. It was unthinkable, really, and she couldn't wait to get upstairs to her baby, to just relax before it all started again tomorrow. She wiped the bar down with a clean cloth and looked up as a new arrival approached. She was expecting a regular to bark an order at her, but her face lit up with a wide smile to see Oliver Devereaux looking like a little hottie in his leather jacket. Ollie was someone Tessa liked a lot, he was always chatty and funny, and he was unbelievable with kids, Tess wouldn't hear anyone say any different about him. He had watched Hannah for her a couple of times, and honestly, if he wasn't killing it in Professional Quidditch, she'd have begged him to be her full time child minder. Maybe not begged, more bribed with free drinks whenever he wanted them. Alas, he was occupationally spoken for, and there was a chance he was romantically spoken for by the sounds of him tonight. Her green eyes lit up as she stopped her cleaning and gave him a scandalous look. "Oooh, a date with a cute blonde?" she asked, leaning over the bar with a keen interest. "I haven't seen anyone who fits the description, but you bet your backside I will be hanging around to see this." For at least another half an hour, at least. "And you're early, you must really like her," she observed with a cheeky grin. Tessa had never actually seen Ollie bring a date to the Leaky before. She was sure he dated, a guy as cute as him would have plenty of girls willing to go out with him. He probably took them to much fancier places, but she approved of this cute blonde already if she was the kind who would like a good time like the Leaky offered. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux and Echo Arista Everwood words: 514 notes: <3 outfit: Without Jack between her legs. template by izzy[googlefont="Butterfly Kids"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable After being dragged over the coals as "the newbie" of the Quidditch world, and having people question whether she was good enough, or if she could keep up with the gruelling schedule - someone had even commented that she looked tired - Echo had really needed the owl that had dropped a small note on her lap not long after she got out of the meeting from hell. Her other team members got praise, support, all the good stuff, Echo just got doubted and practically told she should turn and run now while she could, before things got too tough for her. That was never going to happen. She was no quitter, and especially so when it came to following her dream. She wouldn't give up for anything, and the more they told her that she had far to go, the more determined she was to prove to them that she could do it. But they could go and fuck and duck if they thought she was doing it for them. She would do it for herself and no one else. The note from Ollie Devereaux had been unexpected, but it had caused the first smile of the afternoon to creep onto Echo's face. It wasn't every day your crush wanted to treat you to butterbeers. She knew he'd probably listened to her pummelling and felt sorry for her. Well, he better not feel sorry for her, because she didn't want pity. She wanted to forget it ever happened and carry on carrying on, because she knew she could do it. Arsehole journalists wouldn't sway her or make her doubt herself. She did think she might need something a bit stronger than butterbeer to help take the edge off, though. She didn't even bother getting changed before she left for the Leaky Cauldron. She was required to dress smart for interviews or other official things, and though she hated the heels and silly white blousey thing she had on, the jacket was kind of cool, and she'd gotten away with wearing black jeans, so that was something. Half comfortable, she pushed open the door of the pub and paused for a moment to let her eyes adjust in the dim lighting. The first thing she saw was Ollie's back. His hair swishing about a he talked animatedly with the owner of the Leaky. She allowed herself a few more moments to admire the swish, and then turned her attention to the rest of the room. She spotted a couple of empty tables, but it was Friday night and the place was packed. Sitting at the bar might have to do, and she was fine with that. What she was not fine with, however, was ignoring the large dog that snoozed in front of the fireplace across the far end of the room, and she veered towards it immediately, deciding that Ollie looked happy enough chatting at the bar that he wouldn't miss her if she was a few minutes late. She crouched down next to the dog that she had met a few times before when she'd been here, and stuffed both hands into the Bernese Mountain dog's soft black and tan fur. Oh, it was heaven. Echo had wanted a dog her whole life, and as soon as she could, she would be getting one and there was nothing anyone could do to stop her this time. "Hey girl," she said softly, Morgana giving a lazy wag of her tail as Echo rubbed her neck, probably getting fur all over her jeans, but not giving a single toss about it. She watched Ollie as she fussed Morgana, admiring that hair, while her hands enjoyed the pup's fur. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux and Tessa Nicole Abbott words: 650 notes: <3 outfit: Press conference, shmess conference. template by izzy [googlefont="Over the Rainbow"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun
Ollie grew flustered at the idea that his meeting Echo here was something of a date. He nervously laughed it off as his cheeks began to warm, and he ran his hand through his shaggy hair to keep himself busy. Suddenly he lost the nerve to look Tessa in the eye, so his gaze fell to the bar and rag she’d been using to wipe it down when he had come in. “Nah,” he stammered, scratching his head. “Not a date or anything like that. Just a witch from work. A friend.” Glancing back up he saw Tessa still had an eager look on her face and he turned away from her, scanning over near the door in case he’d missed Echo’s arrival. “How’s my little Hannah?” he asked Tessa as a change of subject, moving to turn the rest of the way around to face her again but spotting Echo near the fireplace on the other side of the room. He smiled at Echo and gave a little wave but having noted the big dog she was with he decided it would be better for her to come to him than the other way around. Dogs, and animals in general, weren’t a big fan of the Devereauxs. Besides, he really did want to hear how Baby Hannah was doing.

But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before Tess smiled playfully when Ollie insisted that the girl he was meeting was just a friend. "Right," she agreed. "A cute friend." It was adorable. Honestly, she wasn't usually one for romance - Merlin knew her own love life had been a mess her entire life - but sometimes something would tug at her heart just a little bit. Ollie talking about a cute girl definitely gave one of those tugs. He was such a lovely guy, and it made her feel really old to think of him in that way, but he was young and sweet and would just be such a good boyfriend to someone, that she was kind of disappointed to hear him denying it. She wanted him to be on a date, damn it. It was cute! She wasn't one to push, though, and she slipped back into her usual cool and unbothered manner, giving the bar one last wipe and tidying some glasses away as Ollie asked about Hannah. "She's a little chunk," Tessa answered with a fond chuckle. "She just started solids, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a second job just to keep the cupboards stocked." She was exaggerating, but Hannah had really - like, really - taken to solids like a pro. She'd only tried baby rice and porridge so far, but by the way she gobbled it down like it was the last meal she would ever see, it was pretty promising, and Tessa just hoped it would stick. She didn't know how she'd deal with a fussy eater. Tessa was one of those people that would try anything, and it was fun, she wanted to able to go to fun restaurants with her kid when she was older and eat the weirdest things on the menu just for a laugh. They were definitely on track for that. She turned from stacking glasses in time to see Ollie give a little wave to someone across the room, and keen green eyes zoomed in on a cute blonde fussing over Morgana by the fireplace. She looked familiar, but Tessa didn't know her. She'd likely been in a few times, but aside from that, Tessa couldn't place her from anywhere. "Oooh," she grinned. "Is that her?" She lifted her arm right up in the air and waved over to the blonde as she stood up and started to cross the room towards them. "So you're the cute blonde Ollie's waiting on," she grinned. "What can I get you two?" They'd need a drink to get things going, and then another, and another. Tessa was a terrible influence. She smiled brightly at Ollie. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux and Echo Arista Everwood words: 477 notes: <3 outfit: Without Jack between her legs. template by izzy[googlefont="Butterfly Kids"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable She could have stayed there for hours. Cuddling Morgana. Staring at Oliver Devereaux across the room. Just zoning out without a care in the world, her only thoughts about how the soft light reflected off of Ollie's hair, making it look lighter. Or how his nose crinkled just a tiny bit when he smiled. Or just thinking about his smile. That would have done nicely. His smile was on the smaller side as he glanced across the room, meeting her gaze and giving a little wave. Busted. Crap. Her eyes dropped to Morgana for a second as she tried to force herself to not look embarrassed that she'd just been dreamy staring at him from across the room. He didn't know that. He couldn't know that. She had only been looking. It was just a look. "It was just a look," she muttered to Morgana, who sat up at the sight of her owner waving across the room. Tessa Abbott owned the Leaky Cauldron, though Echo had never met her, not properly. The woman seemed to be having a great time waving to Echo, and she waved back, standing up and brushing dog hairs off of her pants. Morgana stood up, too, and after one final pet, made her way up the stairs to find a quieter spot, no doubt. No longer having an excuse to dawdle, Echo crossed the room, feet complaining with every step she took in those bloody awful heels. "So you'e the cute blonde Ollie's been waiting on?" Tessa said, grinning. Echo opened her mouth to say something, but found herself just gaping for a few seconds instead. Cute blonde? Had he called her that? She gave Ollie a look, eyebrows raised, before grinning back at Tessa. "Cute?" she asked, standing right next to Ollie at the bar. "He didn't call me hot?" She nudged Ollie with her hip. "You owe me more than a butterbeer for that," she told him, playfully. Tessa asked what they were having and she honestly wasn't sure what to ask for. Ollie's note had said butterbeer, but she definitely needed something stronger than that. If he wanted butterbeer, though, she'd go with it. She was sure she'd survive either way, but being called a cute blonde by your crush, even if it wasn't to your face, was something she figured butterbeer might not be able to help her with. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux and Tessa Nicole Abbott words: 433 notes: <3 outfit: Press conference, shmess conference. template by izzy [googlefont="Over the Rainbow"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun
Hannah eating Tessa out of house and home was definitely something Ollie could tell was going to happen sooner or later. The last few times Ollie had babysat, Hannah guzzled her bottle down like there was no tomorrow. “Just wait ‘til she tries pizza. You’re a gonner.” Hannah was precious and Oliver didn’t mind in the slightest minding her from time to time. He was basically a big baby himself, still mooching off his older brother instead of functioning like most every other self-sustaining 22 year old he knew. Okay, maybe not most of them, but some of them. A few, at the least. Playing with babies and little kids seemed to come natural to Ollie, they were like playing with animals, he imagined, but without the intense hatred and fear most pets demonstrated around him and his family. Thankfully, of his friends who had creatures dependent on them, more of them had children than pets, and aside from Tessa’s dog who lived at the pub and Dora who carted her dog around like a fashion accessory, even most of the pets were avoidable so it really wasn’t an issue all too often.
He wanted to hear more about Hannah’s new found love of solid food, and would have asked what sorts she’d tried already except Tessa had spotted the recipient of Ollie’s subtle wave and she too began waving at Echo. “What are you-?” His eyes were bulging in Tessa’s direction but Echo had made her way over to them and then, for some reason known only to Tessa and Merlin himself, the brunette repeated something she ought not to have. “So you’re the cute blonde…” Ollie didn’t hear the rest of it, his ear were burning so badly. Echo began teasing him now, nudging him with her hip. “Don’t listen to Tessa. She’s drunk. Speaks in tongues. A total nutter.” Shut up. Shut up. Shut up! He gave a crooked smile at Echo then looked hard at Tessa. “Something strong enough to keep my foot out of my mouth for the rest of the night, I guess. No more secrets for you,” he said, waging a finger in Tessa’s direction but clearly joking with her.

But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before This girl had spunk, and Tessa liked it. The way she teased Ollie without blushing and turning into a girlish idiot at being called cute was admirable. Ollie, on the other hand, turned into a panicking fool, which was kind of adorable. Tess didn't feel guilty at all for revealing what he'd called the blonde. She knew Ollie well enough, or so she thought, to know that he wasn't the most forward when it came to the ladies. She'd seen him giving looks at cute girls across the bar before, but never acting on it. It was clear for all to see that he didn't cope well when it came to romantic situations, and if he thought he was having a drink with a friend, then he really had a long way to go, bless him. Maybe Tess had been around the block one too many times and was too blunt about the whole thing, but there was no point beating around the bush. If you wanted in someone's pants, you might as well just be upfront with them. "Oh, sure," she agreed dramatically. "I am drunk as a skunk, off my rocker. Don't know what I'm talking about." Yet there was still a bright smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye as she slammed two small glasses onto the bar and filled them with firewhiskey. "On the house, because you two excite me," she told them. "And now I'm clocking off. I have squishy baby cheeks to kiss. You two have a good night." She winked at Ollie, and gave the blonde a cheeky grin. "Nice meeting you, cute blonde friend." Tessa tugged off her apron and stashed it under the bar, whispering in Sally's ear that she was heading upstairs for the night. She did have squishy baby cheeks to kiss, though there was a part of her now that she wasn't pregnant that kind of wished she had someone else to kiss, too. It had been a while. A whole year, in fact, maybe more, she hadn't been counting, but she really did need the kind of attention that an adorable brunette was likely going to give a cute blonde tonight. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux and Echo Arista Everwood words: 407 notes: <3 outfit: Without Jack between her legs. template by izzy[googlefont="Butterfly Kids"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable Echo let out a laugh as Ollie told her that Tessa was drunk and basically insane in a bid to try and dig himself out of an awkward hole. "When in Rome," she shrugged as Tessa backed Ollie up playfully. There really wasn't any other place better to be a drunken nutter than behind a bar, was there. There wasn't any need for Ollie to try and cover up what he'd said. It was cute. Even if he didn't mean anything by it - clearly Tessa was just hamming it up for a bit of fun - it wasn't such an unusual thing to say. If she were meeting up with Killian, Echo would describe him to someone who didn't know him as a hot Ravenclaw. She'd also describe Sera as a sexy bartender, and Lily as a fiery bombshell quite comfortably. She didn't want to date any of them, or have a crush on her friends, but she could call them what they were without embarrassment. It really wasn't a problem. Ollie was pretty adorable when he was uncomfortable, though, and she couldn't deny she enjoyed it just a teeny bit. Ollie asked Tessa for something strong enough to stop him putting his foot in his mouth or spilling more secrets, and Echo tilted her head to look up at him. "There are secrets?" she asked, then turned to Tessa. "Something strong enough to make him not care about spilling his secrets," she said with a devilish grin. Tessa poured them both a glass of firewhiskey on the house, which would probably do the trick, and made her excuses to leave them alone, not missing the opportunity to call Echo a cute blonde one last time. Bidding the landlady farewell, Echo picked up her glass. "You two seem pretty friendly," she said, changing the subject so that Ollie wouldn't feel uncomfortable alone with her. "How do you know each other?" She'd never thought of Ollie as someone who frequented pubs enough to be best friends with the owners, but you never knew. Ollie was a pretty friendly guy, he could probably make friends in an empty room. Echo might have been giving him too much credit, but that was her opinion of him,and she kind of liked that he was so approachable and easy to get along with. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux and Tessa Nicole Abbott words: 422 notes: <3 outfit: Press conference, shmess conference. template by izzy [googlefont="Over the Rainbow"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun
Tessa’s backup support was seriously lacking, but Ollie couldn’t fault her for it. She was fun and always playful, no matter who it was with. He liked her a lot, but not in any inappropriate way. She wasn’t his type at all. She was older, not by much but enough that he knew not to talk about it to or in front of the woman, and she had a kid. Ollie loved little Hannah. She was squishy and adorable and it was really rather gross the stuff that came out of either end but in between that she was a blast to play and had the cutest little baby giggle. Ollie wanted kids of his own one day, waaaay in the future, but he was happy to sit for Hannah now when Tessa needed an extra hand, and Dora had already informed him he’d be doing the same for her little one when the time came. He was fine with that, so long as the brunette didn’t take advantage too often. He had a social life to be getting on with, not to mention his career.
Tessa poured them each a glass of firewhiskey and said they were on the house because he and Echo ‘excited’ her. What the bloody hell was that supposed to mean?! “Night,” he said with a little wave as Tessa left them and headed upstairs, then Ollie turned to Echo as she asked about his relationship with the barkeep. “Tess? I dunno, just met her here a while back. Put my foot in my mouth, she laughed, the usual Oliver Devereaux experience.” Ollie did have a spectacular habit of making an arse of himself but he claimed it was all part of his charm, and it really was. He was never really embarrassed for long and most things just seemed to roll right off him like water on a duck. “Her kid’s quite the cutie. Hannah. I like to watch her sometimes to give Tessa a mummy break. Works out well for me, too, because then I get a few free drinks here and there and you know, that comes in handy.” Ollie raised his glass, ready to get to the drinking portion of the evening but very much open to continuing this line of conversation if it meant avoiding anymore talk of his ‘cute blonde’ comment. “To shit reporters,” he said, clinking his glass against hers. “May they go screw themselves.”

Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable Echo tried her best to keep the admiring smile from her face as she listened to Ollie talk about Tessa, and minding her kid. She managed it, mostly. Her expression was interested, smile light, nothing at all there to give away the fact that she was internally swooning at the thought of Ollie being the kind of guy who enjoyed looking after kids and babies. It was almost enough to make her ovaries explode right there on the spot, but boy did she reject the feeling. "So you're great at Quidditch, you're a pro at putting your foot in your mouth, and you're good with kids?" she asked, pale eyebrows raised playfully. "Show off." There. Covering her feelings with humour would do the trick nicely. And if that didn't work, she would just get tipsy and everything would be alright, one way or another. She lifted her glass and clinked it against his as he gave a cheers to shitty reporters. Echo grimaced, her top lip curling in distaste. He wasn't wrong. Reporters really were shit sometimes. Or was it all of the time, and she just needed to stop being so hopeful? "Urgh, I'll cheers to that," she said, gulping her firewhiskey and thinking that the reporters who were so hard on her today definitely needed to go and screw themselves. "Are they always arseholes, or does it get better?" she asked, glaring down at her glass before raising her eyes to Ollie's. She found his gaze comforting, like staring into pools of rich dark chocolate, they were warm, safe. Nothing like the dirty looks and judgemental stares she'd been under for most of the afternoon. The one comment that kept burning in the back of her mind, making her angry, was the one where she had been told she'd have been better off as a Chaser, and she wouldn't last a year as a Beater against the likes of Kal Sullivan and other huge guys that played in the position for other teams. That just made her even more determined to prove them wrong, but honestly, she'd rather be a Beater in a match against Sullivan, who just so happened to be Ollie's partner for the Falcons, than play as Chaser and have him hurling Bludgers after her. She figured she was safer where she was. Besides, she was more than capable in the position, or she wouldn't have been offered a spot with the Arrows in the first place. She had told the reporters as much, and put them in their place, and she would continue to do so as long as she had to, but it pissed her off that she had to defend herself for being a woman anyway. Gobshites. She could see herself becoming one of those sports stars that gave the finger to photographers, just to make a point. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux words: 506 notes: <3 outfit: Press conference, shmess conference. template by izzy [googlefont="Over the Rainbow"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun
He really was a show off, much to the chagrin of his big brother. Kit had spent many of their younger years reminding (often) that Ollie needed to curb his natural talents in front of his peers if they were going to keep their family’s secret safe. Ollie knew the drill and he tried to abide by it, and mostly he did alright. Take quidditch for example. Was Ollie the best player on the Falcons? Damn straight, he was! He was the fastest and his reflexes were unmatched by anyone in the league. But did the fans and the press know that? Not at all. He reeled himself in well, enough so that his brother and father seemed genuinely proud of his success despite knowing he could do so much more. It had been difficult once upon a time but he’d grown used to it, and he was still able to let his real abilities out around his family. For Echo, he could just go on showing off about his marvelous foot-in-mouth skills but the great with kids aspect was pretty damn nice, too.
Echo asked after the reporters and Ollie weighed the potential responses. “Well,” he said, sliding his glass back onto the counter and pushing it out far enough to hopefully catch the new bartender’s eye without disrupting the conversation. “For second rate players like yours truly, its pretty much the same always. But you’re great, they just have to get over the fact you’ve got tits, is all. Give it time.” She’d taken a beating by the reporters but hadn’t deserved a lick of it, in Ollie’s opinion. Echo was great and it didn’t matter that she was smaller than most of the other players in her position, nor that it was mostly blokes in her place on other teams.

Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable Echo couldn't resist a quick peek down at her boobs. She did have them, and they weren't subtle. She was short, had more of an athletic figure than anything, but the Powers That Be had blessed her with a generous rack, and there was no hiding it. Ollie was right, the sooner the press got past that little hiccough, the sooner she could just enjoy her job. "Time," she repeated with a nod. "That sounds lame compared to punching them all in the face, but I'll take your advice." She flashed a smile at him and put her own empty glass down on the bar alongside Ollie's. The bartender was busy serving someone further down the bar, but Echo stared until she got his attention and he gave her a quick nod. She took that to mean that he would be over in a minute and looked back at Ollie. Though she agreed with what he'd said - or at least thought it made sense compared to her own more primal and violent urges - his comment about himself didn't sit well with her. "You're far from a second rate player, Ollie-O," she said just loud enough for him to hear. Echo studied his face carefully. He was usually so upbeat, funny, quirky, silly. But sometimes, just occasionally, there was something more there. Small glimpses of something deeper, as though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders underneath his fun bravado. Maybe she was wrong and just reading too deeply into it, but that hidden look that he probably thought went unnoticed more often than not, paired with his self-deprecating words were pretty telling. There was a lot more to him than just being a goofball. A hot goofball. She sometimes wished she could ask Roma and Sera about him, but they'd be on to her in half a second and that couldn't happen. Besides, what would they say about their brother other than yes, he was a complete goofy idiot. It was their duty to talk shit about him, not reveal what he was really like once you got to know him better. Echo guessed she'd just have to find out herself. She was still staring when the bartender appeared asking what he could get them. Echo didn't look at him, just absentmindedly tapped the bar next to the two empty glasses. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux words: 424 notes: <3 outfit: Press conference, shmess conference. template by izzy [googlefont="Over the Rainbow"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun
The bartender wasn’t taking Ollie’s subtle hint as a cue that he needed a refill, so he flagged the man down, turning his head away just as Echo glanced down at her boobs. Perfectly timed to avoid Ollie also giving a peek, which he surely would have done had he caught Echo looking herself, but that would have been soooooo inappropriate. Thankfully, Ollie was blissfully unaware of the awkwardness he had accidentally avoided, or that the bartender who nodded in his direction was actually nodding at Echo staring daggers at him, letting Ollie’s focus return to the conversation. “Hey now, I never said a punch to the face was out of the question. I’ll bet you have a mean right hook.”
She commented on his self-assigned ranking, a joke he had meant to make but apparently it landed more as self-deprecating than humorous. “Really? Fourth rate? Bollocks.” His look of shock and dismay were exaggerated enough to *hopefully* convey his sarcasm. They weren’t here to talk about his career, they were here to talk about hers. Or to distract from it for a moment. He wasn’t really sure what the plan was here, so long as she seemed less frustrated than she’d sounded on the radio earlier. “Yeah, you’re right, Everwood. I’d kick your arse into next Tuesday, but don’t let that get you down. It happens to a lot of quidditch players.” He grinned at her, giving her an oversized wink as the bartender finally filled their glasses. He laughed, his hair falling into his face, and he brushed it out of the way with his hand.

Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable "Left hook," she corrected him, making a fist with her left hand. She was left handed for most things, only she used her right to swing her Beater's bat since she found it easier to steer her broom with her left. Staying on the broom was slightly more important than any other aspect of the game as far as Echo was concerned, though she'd never tell her boss that. In fact, her boss and most of her new teammates had no idea that she'd probably be stronger if she swung with her left arm instead. She didn't want to risk her life for her career so she wouldn't be shouting that little titbit of information from the rooftops. She did well with her right hand and that was all anyone needed to focus on. In fact, she did throw a mean right hook, too, and either of her knees could land a good groin shot. She'd headbutted someone once, too, but that had left her with an egg on her forehead and dizzy spells, so she promised herself she'd never do that again for her own safety. Their glasses were refilled by the bartender and Echo picked hers up, nodding in fake agreement that Ollie would kick her arse into next Tuesday. Well it wasn't that fake, she had to agree to some degree that he probably would wipe the floor with her up there one on one. He had more experience, it was only natural that he'd get the better of her. She'd never roll over and give it to him easily, though. Then again, that depended on what "it" was, she could think of a few things she'd give him without too much of a fight. His hair fell over his face and she watched it swish perfectly as he brushed it back with his hand, feeling as though the room was in slow motion for a second or two. She swallowed hard and raised her glass to his. "Well then, cheers to you kissing my arse 'til next Tuesday," she said, flashing a cheeky grin and a wink to match his, though hers was less dramatic. She was grateful that her smile was hidden behind her glass as she drank, because it was far too cheesy for her liking. _______________________ tag: Oliver Osiris Devereaux words: 412 notes: <3 outfit: Press conference, shmess conference. template by izzy [googlefont="Over the Rainbow"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]
