Breathe Me Back To Life It had been a week since her brother had been killed, and Julian felt suffocated by Lunete. She was going through the loss of a sibling, he knew the feeling all too well from not so long ago, and he couldn't deny her the right to grieve, but he wished she would go about it in a different way. She had been clingy and constantly crying every time he had seen her over the past week, the fun girl with the great smile and zest for life had been replaced by a pathetic, snivelling weakling who couldn't get through ten minutes without needing reassurance and comfort. Grief as Julian knew it was all consuming, but there were ways to keep it to yourself, to give yourself privacy, to hide it to a certain extent so that you didn't burden others with the weight on your heart. Lunete was making no such effort, as far as Jules could see, and she was quite content to fall to pieces and let everyone around her mop her up. Where was her strength? She was to become an Auror, and yet gave in to emotion so completely that she could barely function. That was how Jules knew her this past week, and he really couldn't stand it any longer. He was not the kind of person who could offer that kind of emotional support. He had enough problems of his own, and though he had enjoyed the past couple of months with Lunete, he by no means loved her, and breaking up with her looked like more of a relief than something he would feel guilt over. She didn't need him around if he resented it. She could have a fresh start, rebuild herself and start again. He was doing her a favour, really, by ending things. He had asked her to meet him at the bakery in Godric's Hollow where they had first met. It was somewhere familiar, where she would hopefully feel comfortable, and close enough to home for her to get there easily afterwards. He had no doubt that she would be upset with him - Merlin knew she loved a good cry - but he just couldn't carry the weight of her tears any more. He needed his freedom back, he needed to be able to smile and laugh freely without feeling like he couldn't because it was insensitive. He sat in the window of the bakery as he waited for her to arrive, not having bothered to order anything because he didn't see this as something that would take long. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn words: 449 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Dancing Script"]

It had been just over a week since Tristan had been killed and, quite expectedly some might say, Lunete had been a little bit of a mess. Her world was once again turned upside down. She'd lost her mother and now her brother. To top the whole heartbreak off it was coming up to the anniversary of her mother's death and she wasn't sure how she was going to get through it but she knew that she would. She had three brothers, her dad, and an incredible boyfriend that would help her through the next week and a half. She couldn't do it without them.
Today was a little easier than the day before. She'd been crying herself to sleep at nights but today she felt good, a little better in fact. Julian wanted to meet with her at the local bakery where they'd first met properly. She'd been a bumbling mess but he'd somehow found her cute and endearing. Thankfully she'd manage to make less of a prat of herself on their first date flying than she had in the bakery, or at the Ministry where she'd first seen him. He'd been talking to Agent Humbert and oh holy heck had he made her head turn! He was incredibly attractive and she'd stared at him, outright, in public. Why had he wanted to talk to her again!? Lunete chuckled to herself as she strolled through the village. Her hair washed, a light little dusting of makeup and for the first time in a week, her eyes weren't red and puffy. Thinking about Julian made her smile. She'd been so down in the dumps that smiles had been rare for her, but today was a good day. One day at a time was all she had to get through. Today she'd get through it with Julian.
Entering the bakery she didn't need to look about. She cast her eyes over to what she called to herself 'their table'. Sure enough he was sat there and Lunete smiled at him. The door closed behind her as she made her way over to the table. There wasn't the usual spring in her step and there wasn't that bouncy nature she usually had, but she was smiling, it was something. "Hey." She was so glad to see him in the flesh. She just wanted to cosy on up to him and forget the world for a while, "Thanks for getting me out of the house," She said, sitting next to him, "I really needed this." She leant in towards him, to greet him with a kiss. He was fast becoming her rock. His patience and understanding with her was just so appreciated. She was going to have to do something special for him when she was feeling up to it.

Breathe Me Back To Life She was smiling when she arrived. It wasn't as bright and beautiful as it had been before her brother had died, but it was there. It bolstered Jules in a way, and made his decision that little bit easier. He was doing the right thing. She was smiling again already, which meant she would cope just fine with a breakup. He would have worried more had she turned up looking miserable and gloomy, as though the world were about to end. He did have feelings, and he didn't want her to hurt any more than she already was, but that was the whole reason he was breaking up with her. Well, not the whole reason, but a good part of it. She couldn't heal with a boyfriend hanging around when he didn't want to. How would that help her? As far as Jules could see, it wouldn't, she didn't need to be with somebody who wanted to be elsewhere, and he was doing her a huge favour by being honest with her and letting her go. Letting her heal. Confident in his choice, he returned her kiss with a tight smile, waiting until she had sat down at their table before trying to decide on the best way to go about things. "You look good," he told her, clasping his hands together on the table as he studied her. "Just keep taking baby steps, sweetheart, and you'll get to the other side." The other side, where Jules would not be. Who knew what life held for her after this. Their little adventure had been great. Fun and cute and just what it was meant to be, but it was never supposed to get heavy. "Did you want anything to drink or eat?" he asked, turning to indicate that he was willing to go and order something for her up at the counter. A cup of coffee or hot chocolate might help her afterwards. Maybe she would throw it in his face. It might be best to opt for water, or just a cookie, which wouldn't be messy. "How about one of those chocolate chip muffins we tried?" he suggested, remembering she had liked it last time they'd been in here. Jules wasn't feeling hungry, himself, but he would get her something if she wanted it, whether he was breaking up with her or not. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn words: 414 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Dancing Script"]

There was always something about Julian that set Lunete's heart racing. When he spoke to her, it felt as though the whole world had just slipped away and it was just the two of them at any given time. He called her 'sweetheart' and it felt as though he cared so much for her right there in that moment. He was sweet and caring, but of course he was, he'd been in her position before. He'd lost both of his parents and then his sister. Lunete knew very little about what had happened. She had the means to do a little digging but it wasn't her place, she respected his privacy too much and truly believed that he would be open about someday, when he was ready - if he even wanted. Lunete got it, honestly, there were people she felt completely comfortable opening up with and there were people, that no matter how close she got to them, she just couldn't talk to about deep, meaningful things. Life was full of people coming and going and Lunete just wanted to make sure that she was confiding in the right sorts. Julian seemed like the right sort and they'd only been dating a few months but his support was invaluable. He was an absolute gem to her.
"Ohh, yeah, and a lemonade if they have it." She smiled, taking a deep breath and sighing gently. It had been hard finding herself with everything that was going on. Lunete wasn't sure how to keep going and although it had only been eight days, it felt like the longest eight days of her life. Getting through hour to hour, even minute to minute seemed near impossible, but around Julian it was a little easier. A lot actually. Whenever Lunete spent time alone she found she could only cry. She tortured herself with memories of Tristan and more often now their mother too. She sometimes went the extra mile and recalled the times she irritated him when all he wanted was to be left alone. She told herself that she was a terrible sister at times but she got through those darker moments. When she was surrounded by her other brothers and her dad she had a whole different experience. Things were a little more lighthearted, often there were tears and laughter as they recalled Trist's silly moments. Her brother had been an incredible human being and she would mourn his death for the rest of her life, but when she was around Julian, it was as though she'd stepped into a separate part of her life, she felt as though she could be herself while still giving enough to her brother's memory.

Breathe Me Back To Life "Of course," he nodded, standing up and heading for the counter. Lunete seemed to be in a calmer mood than usual today, which was just a huge relief for him. She would probably be pissed off with him once he got to talking, but if she was starting off in a strong place, she might not quite lose the plot like she would have if she'd already been a mess. He did care about her enough to not want her to hyperventilate and pass out with rage. She needed to heal, to look after herself, to take the time to do right by herself rather than focusing on other people and what they were doing. Hopefully by removing himself from the equation she'd have more space and time to do that. She could see her friends instead of him, and they could help her through, and it would help him, too. He would no longer have the stress of having to support someone through the loss of a sibling. It was hard going on the old emotions, and he'd already had enough loss of his own to allow someone else's heartache into his world. He didn't need that. He ordered the lemonade and muffin, and the woman served him quickly enough, and he was back at the table sitting down again in no time. He placed the glass of lemonade in front of Lunete with a smile, and pinched a tiny chunk of muffin, popping it in his mouth and nudging the rest across the table to her. It did taste good, but he really wasn't in the mood for food right now. "Lunete," he said, deciding to dive right in without beating around the bush any longer. "I'm really proud of the way you're handling everything lately." He was. Sort of. "But I think you need to focus on yourself more," he leaned back in his chair, face thoughtful as he tried to find the right words to get his point across. "I think I'm getting in the way of your healing. You're spending time with me instead of your family, who need you. I'm going to take myself out of the picture, and let you be with your dad and brothers." Should he say more, or give her time to respond? Was that enough to let her know that he was breaking up with her? He wasn't sure, she was young, she might not take the hint. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn words: 429 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Dancing Script"]

Lunete sat and looked out the window as Julian walked off to the counter to get her a muffin and lemonade. Her eyes fell on various people walking by. A small girl held her mother's hand, a young man was running with a dog, a handsome man was kissing the cheek of a beautiful woman but Lunete's focus came to an older couple. They looked as though they could easily be in their eighties. Their skin was wrinkled, showing signs of the lives they'd lived, their bodies seemed frail, giving away their age in part. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about the couple really. They were sat on a bench together, just a little way down from the bakery, and the man had his arm around his wife while she sat tossing little scraps of bread to the pigeons that had gathered around them. It was such a sweet and uplifting sight. Lunete hoped that perhaps someday that would be her and Julian, in the very distant future.
She could have watched the pair for hours. It was so romantic to witness a scene like that. The world felt darker than it had even twelve months ago, and not because she'd also lost her brother in that time. Even the muggles were able to tell there was something going on. Darker days - literally - were a dead give away. Muggles came up with all kinds of excuses but ultimately, people all over the wizarding world knew what was going on and Lunete was determined to be a part of stopping it.
Julian returned and Lunete offered him a warm, happy smile. It was incredible how one person could just lift you up when you were feeling so low that you'd contemplated changing your life around. Julian set down her muffin, taking a little nibble for himself which she just loved. They were so comfortable with one another, just sharing food. As he started talking she popped a bit of muffin in her mouth, chewing thoughtfully as she paid attention to everything he said. Her bites slowed down as it began to sink in what he was saying. Her smile faltered, twitching a little before it disappeared. Was he breaking up with her? It seemed like he was breaking up with her. Her brother had died a week ago and he was breaking up with her? No. No, no, no, no. She was mistaken. She swallowed the muffin that she'd popped in her mouth. She was clearly misinterpreting what he was saying to her, taking his words completely the wrong way. "What - what are you trying to say, Julian?" She asked, her brow furrowed as she looked at him. If he was breaking up with her then she wasn't sure what she was going to do. She could feel a lump in her throat and she was fairly certain that this was about to be one of the worst moments of her life. She wanted clarity, she wanted for Julian not to be breaking up with her but somehow, Lunete had a terrible sinking feeling in her stomach that made her feel sick which she knew could only mean that she was actually fully understanding what he was saying, she was just praying it wasn't true.

Breathe Me Back To Life Her face began to drop as he spoke, but even still, she did not seem to grasp what he was saying. Maybe a more blunt approach was necessary, though he didn't want to hurt her by being too harsh. Alas, if it was the only way to make her understand, he would have to take the fall and hurt her, because backing out now and changing what he had said into something less final would only cause him a lot of misery in the near future. He just couldn't put up with her crying any more. Her emotions were overloading him, and he felt like he would go insane if he didn't get away from it. Not to mention it dug up every feeling he had about River and his mother, and he couldn't stand that. He had to do the selfish thing, there was nothing else for it. Lunete was sinking, and he would not go down with her ship. "We can't be together any more, Lunete," he said simply, watching her carefully across the table. Waiting for her drink to be flung in his face or something else immature that proved to him he had done the right thing. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn words: 221 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Dancing Script"]

Lunete thought she was getting better, that her heart had experienced so much loss that it could only get better from now on. She couldn't have imagined that only a week after her brother' death, that she would be face to face with the man she thought she was falling in love with, only to have him tell her that he wanted to end things. How could this be? What was truly happening right now? Lunete felt hollow yet full of pain. She didn't know how to react to the news. Her lemonade and muffin were just forgotten about as she pulled her arms from resting on the table to rest her hands in her lap. Knotted together her hands squeezed at one another as she tried processing everything. Why was this happening? "Oh." She said sadly. She looked down at the table, feeling the bitter sting of tears in her eyes. She had cried so very much this life time, she had hoped she was done with it all but she supposed not. She would be feeling this for weeks to come. "Uhm," Her voice was cracking, she told herself not to cry in front of him, that if this was how it was going to end then so be it, but it was really shit timing. Really shit. "Why?" She asked looking up from the table to Julian. She wanted to keep everything short. The more she talked the more likely she would cry. "Why now?" Was this something he'd been wanting to do for a while? Was it because she'd been upset recently? Well she couldn't help it that she wasn't made of stone! She was a human being with real, true emotions that she wore on her sleeve. She didn't hide how she was feeling unless it was for work, but thank Merlin she had time off from that right now. She wouldn't have to make excuses up about missing work for a break up. Oh Merlin. She was being dumped. How was this even happening?!

Breathe Me Back To Life Why? Hadn't he just told her why? Oh, here we go with the not listening, and the childish stalling. That must have been what she was doing, asking him to repeat himself so she could try and slow down what was happening. Then she'd have time to come up with some sort of argument or ten as to why he was making a mistake and should change his mind. He wouldn't be changing his mind. It didn't matter what she said, he was done. He'd had enough of Lunete's drama, and it had only been a week, Merlin knew how demented he'd feel after another week or more of it. He just couldn't be dealing with it, and she could make him repeat his reasons over and over, but it wouldn't change the fact that he did have reasons, and they were staying. "Like I said, Lunete," he said, throwing her name in there as though she were a child he was trying to teach. It was kind of a similar situation. "You need time to heal, and I can't be in the way of that. You'll be fine, you've got your dad and your brothers, and good friends." There was nothing more to say, really. The sooner she accepted it, the sooner he could get out of here and get on with his day. And the sooner she could get on with her life, and hopefully cheer up, in time. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn words: 261 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Dancing Script"]

It seemed impossible that this was happening and Julian was being so cryptic in what he was saying. She knew she wasn't going to get the chance to talk to him again after this because that just didn't happen. Sure she had a few amicable break-ups but this was entirely different from that. This was all one sided, Lunete had thought things were going so very well and yet it seemed she had been heartbreakingly wrong. Tristan had died a week ago, that was all her mind kept coming to. Julian brought up her dad and her brother's and that was the final straw. Lunete couldn't hold back the flood waters any more and her emotional dam broke, letting loose all the tears she'd had pent up since the last time she'd cried over her brother's death. Julian had only gone and reminded her, in a less than kind manner, that she had no mother and she had lost a big brother. If he thought he was doing the kind thing in letting her grieve her relationship along with her brother then he was sorely mistaken and she wanted nothing more than to curse him there and then.
Lunete covered her face with her hands, lowering her head and allowing her loose strands of hair to come forward and tickle the backs of her hands. She wasn't a silent crier and instead sobbed, knowing that she was an absolute mess. This was the first time she'd properly been out since Tristan's death, this was the first time she was able to relax out in public and Julian had stolen that away from her. She was no longer able to sit here, her shattered heart being crushed was more than she could handle so she she stood, face still in hands, and ran for the door, wailing as she went. She stopped only to pull the door of the bakery open and then she took off, finding the nearest alley that she could and she leant against the wall, sobbing into the front of her powder blue, lace top that she'd pulled up to her face. She could feel the pain tearing her apart. Nearly six months were now just wasted and Lunete wasn't sure how she could possibly carry on so she stayed there, with her back against the alley wall, sobbing her heartbroken little heart out, hoping that this was all a very, very bad dream.

Breathe Me Back To Life Jules pressed his lips together as Lunete covered her face with her hands and began to sob. He didn't want to hurt her, though nobody would believe him right now. He couldn't continue with a lie. If he were to just stick it out when he wasn't feeling it anymore, she would be even more hurt in the long run. Hurt that he'd pretended to still like her when he'd lost interest, hurt because she'd be even more attached to him and it would be harder to let go. It was easier to just cut ties now, as soon as he knew he didn't look at her the same way he used to. Somebody else might have seen her going through this dark patch and wanted to protect her and help her through it. Jules just felt smothered and like her sadness was hitting far too many nerves for him to deal with it. He'd lost parents and a sibling. That was still fresh for him. Seeing someone else going through that opened all of his own wounds right back up, and he needed to protect himself before trying to protect Lunete. He had to put himself first. Her sobs gained a few looks from others in the bakery, and Jules let out a heavy sigh as Lunete fled from the table and out of the door. It was done. She would get over it, and though he felt like a bit of a prick for making her cry, it was for the best. He gave her a few minutes head start, not wanting a confrontation in the middle of the street, and then left the bakery, too. She wasn't out there waiting for him, so he headed down the street and apparated home with a bittersweet feeling in his heart. Lunete was hurting, but she would be fine. She'd curse him for a few months, then realise that he had made the right decision and move on. Jules tried to focus on the sweet part as he made himself a cup of tea. He was a free man again. His smile grew bigger and bigger as he stirred his tea. It was a good feeling. _______________________ tag: Lunete Penelope Dearborn words: 386 notes: <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Dancing Script"]
