PERSONALITY Boggart: The corpse of his deceased sister, Ariana. Mirror of Erised: If Albus looked into the Mirror, he would see himself, along with his parents and both siblings. His family, whole again and untarnished by mistakes and darkness. Patronus: Phoenix - Albus' favourite memory is from not so long ago, actually. Somebody gifted him a wonderful pair of hand knitted socks for Christmas a couple of years ago, and the package included a matching pair for Fawkes. Albus and Fawkes wore their socks during Christmas day dinner, and the simple happiness it brought him just for that hour or two was beautiful. The first thing that most people think of when they hear the name Albus Dumbledore, is power. For a wizard who learned some hard lessons in his youth whilst chasing power, he sure has a lot of it these days. He is unquestionably one of the greatest wizards ever to live, and the only man in the world that Tom Riddle actually fears, and with good reason. Albus is an incredible duelist, capable of the highest levels of magic, including non-verbal spells and wandless magic, he is terrifying and formidable in battle, and somebody you would not want to cross. He excels in almost every area of magic, and his intelligence is astounding, people look to him as a leader and a trailblazer, awe on their faces. The first thing that the people who actually know Albus on a personal level would tell you, is that he is a wonderful friend, they would tell you that he is kind and generous, that he is capable of making anybody laugh, and lightening any tense situation with his wonderful sense of humour and fun. They would tell you stories of his genius and the things he had invented, they would tell you of the thoughtful gifts he had gotten them over the years, and they would tell you of his patience and love, overflowing with happy tales of his eccentric ways and desire to keep things bright and upbeat. Albus is a dreamer, and innovator, a man who has seen so much of the world yet still has not become jaded by it. He has the ability to laugh like a young boy, to play and create, he has the drive to make the world a better place, and the calm, patient manner to wait for the fruits of his labour. He is a magnificent teacher and mentor, and always has time for his students, full of wise words or witty lines to put a smile in their troubled young faces. He has his secrets. Albus has darkness in his past, and more than his fair share of it, he has no family, which he regrets every single day, and he has never known love since he was a teen and had his heart broken in a most terrible way. He keeps himself closed off on a personal level, always making sure the focus is on others, and keeps himself busy with his work, and with the Order of the Phoenix, which is his most recent project, and a great distraction from his personal problems. He finds that helping others is a fantastic way of forgetting about himself and his downfalls. HISTORY Mother: Kendra Dumbledore, deceased Father: Percival Dumbledore, deceased Siblings: Aberforth Dumbledore, Hog's Head landlord Ariana Dumbledore, deceased Partners: N/A Others: Fawkes, Phoenix, companion and protector. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was born in the small village of Mould on the Wold, to Percival and Kendra Dumbledore. He was to be the eldest of three children, brother Aberforth being born a few years later, followed by sister Ariana. Their life as unremarkable until little Ariana became a toddler. She was attacked by Muggle boys who had been horrified at seeing her performing magic, and the youngest Dumbledore was so trumatised by this that she never performed magic the same way again. Now the whole family's lives were turned upside down, and geared towards dealing with Ariana's out of control magic. Albus' father was so infuriated at what had happened to his little girl, that he sought revenge on the boys who had harmed her, and ended up in Azkaban shortly after for his crimes, a place whee he would remain until he died. Albus' mother was left to care for Ariana on her own, moving them all to Godric's Hollow and sending the boys off to Hogwarts, hiding their sister away at home. Albus was sorted into Gryffindor, and sent his first year fending off rumours of what his father had done. He learned to be secretive and value his privacy early on in life, and developed a strong dislike of people prying into his personal life. Despite the initial setback, Albus thrived in the school environment, his intelligence and quick mind leaping into play and making him one of the greatest students the school had ever seen. He excelled at most lessons, making friends with other influential students and blazing his own path through the school, not caring for the rules of society or what his peers wanted from him. Albus marched to the beat of his own drum and was so successful with his studies that he ended up becoming a Prefect, and then Head Boy in his final year. He had plans upon graduation to travel the world with his good friend Elphias Doge, and as a young, enthusiastic boy, Albus was devastated to have his dreams shattered when his mother was killed by his sister in an unfortunate incident of uncontrolled magic. With nobody else to care for young, helpless Ariana, Albus had no choice but to give up on his plans and return home to look after his sister, who he loved dearly. Lacking the wisdom and patience he would have in later years, Albus was fed up with his new role in life, and jumped at the chance to befriend the new boy in the village. Gellert Grindelwald. Not only was he beautiful to look at, but this boys mind fascinated Albus, too, and he found himself falling for Gellert in more ways than one. Completely bewitched by the boy and his ideas on world domination, finding himself agreeing with Gellert's thoughts and views, and quite starry eyed at the thought of the power that would come with seeing this boys plans become a reality, they spent months over the summer of 1899 becoming fast friends and making wild plans together, only to be brought back down to earth with a bump by Aberforth. Albus' brother was unhappy with these plans that were being made, and reminded Albus that he had Ariana to take care of. An argument broke out and quickly turned dirty, wands being drawn and hexes sent flying about until it was all brought to a standstill as Ariana's body fell to the floor. Nobody knew which one of them had sent the spell that had killed the frail girl, but she was dead, and there was no undoing it. Gellert ran, and Albus was left with the devastation, the loss of a sister who he had thought of as a burden, and the loss of a brother who blamed him for Ariana's death. Guilt ate away at him, and would continue to do so for the rest of his life. The only thing he could do to try and keep it at bay was to throw himself into seeking work, and he sought out a job as the Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts, where he stayed for many years and forged himself a successful career, Gellert, in the meantime, building an army and terrorising Europe. Happy to throw himself into his work, Albus dedicated himself to his students for many years before he finally forced himself to face his biggest demon. In 1945, he sought out Grindelwand and challenged him to a duel, one of the most magnificent battles ever fought. Albus won, being the better duelist by a mere fraction, and Grindelwald was sent to Azkaban, Albus finding himself in possession of the Elder wand, and receiving an Order of Merlin, First Class for his defeat of the dark wizard. Returning to his work once more, Albus was eventually offered the position of Headmaster of Hogwarts in the late 1960's, a role which he accepted and took great pride in, despite the slight fear it instilled in him with all that power in his hands. He had calmed a lot over the years, and especially after losing Ariana, Albus had lost a lot of his old arrogance and childish ways, gaining wisdom and patience in droves. His wisdom was tested not long after he became Headmaster, when a man by the name of Tom Riddle approached him and requested the position of the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. Tom was no stranger to Albus, he had taught the boy at school, and watched him grow to become a somewhat questionable character. Now exclusively known as Lord Voldemort, though Albus would only ever see him as young Tom, he was rejected, and angered enough to place a curse upon the job, which made it impossible for anyone to hold the position for longer than a year. This proved Albus' thoughts on the boy to be correct, and he kept a close eye on Tom's movements over the years, monitoring his rise to power and making his own plans to try and stop him. Albus created a special group which he called the Order of the Phoenix, a group of witches and wizards dedicated to stopping the evil that Lord Voldemort was trying to spread across the world. It was all too familiar to Albus, though this time he knew he wasn't alone in his quest to stop Tom, and as the only wizard that Tom had ever feared, Albus was confident that evil would not prevail a second time around, as long as he was there to stand in it's way.
