Hush Hush Echo flopped back down on the couch with the book she had just spent the better part of half an hour looking for. In the end, she had had to ask the librarian for help, and the woman seemed to just know where things where, Echo was sure Miss Drake could have found the book with her eyes closed if she'd needed to, but there was no point in being jealous or put out at all of the time that had been wasted, she had studying to do. She pulled her feet up on the seat beside her, and wriggled about to get comfortable again as the fire crackled in it's hearth opposite her. She had a window view, a warm fire, a bag full of Honeydukes sweets, and a whole afternoon to herself, if she didn't manage to get this homework done before the next lesson in the morning, she'd eat grass. There was nothing to stop her, and that was a good feeling. Though she struggled with lessons, and wasn't as fast on the uptake as a lot of the others in her classes, Echo had the drive to work hard in her own time to make sure that she got the grades she needed. She'd never be a straight O' student, well, except for maybe in Care of Magical Creatures, but she did her best and that was good enough for her, so being undisturbed was a huge help. The library wasn't too busy today, most people choosing not to spend their last weekend day on school work, she knew a lot of her friends liked to get homework done on a Saturday morning or afternoon unless it was a Hogsmeade weekend, preferring to have a full day of freedom before lessons began again on Monday. Echo wasn't bothered by that, she enjoyed the peace of the library, or the study room, or even the quiet of her dorm on a Sunday, while everyone else was either out on the grounds - not so much in the winter - or causing chaos in the common room. Picturing the crowd and the noise she'd passed through on her way out of the basement earlier, she was glad to be somewhere people had to be relatively quiet. The only way anyone could disturb her would be in a hushed voice or maybe sign language, charades across the study tables was always fun in the library. But no, that wasn't for now, now was for learning all about How to care for your Walking Plant, and if she didn't display adequate knowledge on the subject in the morning, she'd never be given one to care for next weekend, and she'd end up with a 'T' for it. She'd never gotten a 'T' in her life, and she wasn't about to start now because she hadn't studied properly and ended up with her walking plant walking off the bridge and dying. Cringing at the thought, she immediately buried her nose in the book. _______________________ tag: open notes: Outfit. <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Over the Rainbow"]

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
Kitty sang cheerfully as she made her way around the castle, garnering more than a few strange looks as she went, although she wasn't sure whether that was due to her dress or her singing and in any case, she had never been one to worry too much about what other people thought of her. Personally, she rather liked her outfit today, but the blonde supposed that tartan was an acquired taste and some people had plainly never made the effort to try. She herself had had little choice, growing up as she had in the north of Scotland, but others had not been so privileged as she had, and she supposed that their hatred of tartan stemmed from jealousy on that point. Nevertheless, she had faith. She was stylish. Maybe not by everyone else's standards, but then who wanted to conform to other people's standards anyway? Other people were boring. Kitty conscientiously excluded every one of her considerable number of friends from this sweeping generalisation and then went on briskly with her train of thought. Other things were boring, too. Some of her classes, for a start, and long journeys and having tea with some of her more elderly relatives who gave her disapproving looks and complained about how degenerate young people were these days... She usually just smiled and switched off her ears.
The blonde stopped suddenly to avoid falling straight through a gap left by a moving staircase- something which she had done more than once in the past; it was a good job that she'd not yet broken her neck- and sighed. Having a naturally short attention span, Kitty could not be bothered to wait for a flight of steps to make its mind up to come her way, and so she turned back in the opposite direction and, picking a corridor at random, began to walk. She did not often find herself alone, being of a naturally friendly disposition, but nevertheless today would appear to be an exception, and so with a good will, she was making the best of the situation. It was very difficult to depress Kitty, and while it was possible- in fact, she had one particular issue which managed that on a regular basis- most people eventually gave up trying. Of she course she was human, and things got to her. But she hid it well. She had grown good at hiding things. From most people.
As she passed, Kitty eyed the doorway to the library. Generally, she wasn't in favour of spending too much time there, since it tended to limit her opportunities for socialisation, but since she didn't seem to have much chance of doing any in any case, the blonde decided that she might as well break the habit of a lifetime. She pushed open the door. The first sight which met her eyes brought an even wider smile to her cheerful face. Well, well, if it wasn't her very favourite roommate. It might be a library... but this opportunity was one which was too good to pass up. OK, she had no self control. Kitty accepted this, did her best to sneak up on Echo and enveloped the other Hufflepuff in a tight hug. "Hey!" she exclaimed, waiting a moment or two before finally releasing the girl.

Hush Hush Arms wrapped around her without warning, and Echo's first instinct was to want to recoil and lash out at whoever was grabbing her to get them off of her. The soft voice that accompanied the arms was what made her not punch Kitty in the face in panic, and she merely sucked in a breath and then reached her own free arm - the one not holding the book - up to give the girl a squeeze before she let go. "Am I seeing things?" Echo asked incredulously, voice hushed. "Is there a hot guy convention in the library, or are you just lost?" Kitty was not a library person in the slightest, and seeing her in the book littered corner of the castle was such a rarity, Echo was devastated that she didn't have a camera with her to take a picture. Moments like this needed to be recorded or nobody would ever believe that they had happened. Face breaking into a grin, Echo gave her friend a quick once over, taking in her outfit without blinking. She had shared a room with the blonde for six years, she was used to Kitty wearing attention grabbing things by now. "Aren't you cold wearing that?" she asked, teasing, thinking that in comparison to what Kitty was wearing, Echo must have looked like a yeti in her over-sized hoodie and thick jeans. The thing of it was, though, was that Kitty was adorable. She was so pretty and just all around lovable, and any outfit she chose to wear always looked good on her. Echo patted the couch beside her, moving her feet out of the way so that there was room for her friend to sit down. "Take a seat, Kitters," she said, glancing back down at her book. "I'm reading up for Herbology tomorrow. If we get to pick partners for the walking plant project next weekend, do you wanna work together?" she asked, knowing Kitty would be someone she could easily work with without messing too much up. "How hard could it be to keep an animated plant alive for two days?" she added with a shrug. According to the book she had on her lap, it was actually harder than one might imagine, since the plants were known for being fast runners, and could climb as well as walk. Echo knew they weren't allowed to use cages, so she would be counting on quick wit and creativity, neither of which she was particularly skilled at. _______________________ tag: @kitty notes: Outfit. <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Over the Rainbow"]

(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
Kitty reluctantly released her friend as Echo let go of her and grinned, completely unabashed, at the other girl's question. "I don't know if you're seeing things, sweetie; I can't see what you're seeing." she pointed out logically, one hand resting easily on her hip in the best attempt that she could make at sassiness. The blonde was not by nature a sassy person but nevertheless she made the effort and occasionally she was successful. After all, a million monkeys typing on a million typewriters for eternity would sooner or later produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Not that Kitty was an expert on Shakespeare. A couple of his plays were quite good, she supposed. As plays went.
"I guess that depends on your definition of hot." the blonde suggested, looking around and being somewhat disappointed by the results. Of course, she would never actually dare to speak to a hot guy, but it was nice to have something attractive to look at when one was supposed to be studying something boring... like Potions, for example, or maybe Divination. "And this is the Great Hall, right?" She gave the other blonde a wink as she sank into the couch with a sigh.
"Is this a new nickname?" Kitty queried. "If so, I like it. And actually, I'm quite warm... I got a friend to put a heat charm on my jacket, so I'm all good!" Sliding along the sofa a little, the Hufflepuff rested against her friend's arm as she peered over Echo's shoulder at the textbook, sighing inwardly as she did so. Studying was important, Kitty understood that, but you could have too much of it. Far too much of it.
A blonde head nodded enthusiastically in response to Echo's suggestion, and the head's owner slipped her arm through the other girl's. "Now, Echo, have I ever said no to the chance to spend time with you?" Kitty teased, attracting a couple of odd looks from the boys at the next table over. She ignored them- she was used to odd looks. "But I have to warn you that if you do work with me, it will probably turn out to be practically impossible."

Hush Hush "Ha. Ha." Echo rolled her eyes at Kitty's attempt at being sassy and funny. She was just too cute to be seen as sassy in Echo's eyes, everything about her screamed adorable, rather than "look how sharp my tongue is". It was funny to see her having a go, though, and Echo gave a half smile in amusement. Kitty's definition of hot was not necessarily the same as Echo's. She tended to find more people attractive than Echo did, but the older Hufflepuff thought that was probably to do with her own preferences. She could appreciate a pretty face, but if it didn't have a personality to back it up, she wouldn't be drooling for long. Whereas she imagined Kitty would just stare and swoon for days over a complete arsehole if he was good looking enough. That was fine, though, as long as she didn't start dating said arsehole. There was nothing wrong with looking. And drooling. And making a spectacle of yourself when you were caught staring and fell over your own feet trying to get away from your own mortification. That was so Kitty. "A heat charm?" Echo repeated with a grin. "So you're the hot one around here today, then." Merlin, lame jokes were just flying everywhere today! Laughing at her own pathetic pun, Echo settled in with Kitty leaning against her, tilting the book a little bit so the other blonde could see what was on the page - a whole load of boring text. Giving Kitty's arm a reassuring squeeze as she voiced her certainty that them working together would only lead to failure, Echo snorted. "I think you'll be fine," she scoffed. "We can just keep it in the dorm all weekend and take turns in going out for meal times." She glanced at the book on her lap. "It says they die if you put them in cages, something about them getting sad and just croaking, so we can't cage it up." Crinkling her nose at that little bump on the road, Echo gave a shrug. "I'm going into Professional Quidditch, I don't need good Herbology grades anyway," she sighed, closing the book and shifting a little bit so she could see Kitty better. "So why are you really here?" she asked, narrowing her eyes in suspicion. "I know it's not to sit and listen to me going on about magical plants. Are you okay?" Her best guess was that Kitty was just horrendously bored, but she could have been wrong, it was always best to ask, and Echo genuinely cared. She didn't like to think of her friends just wondering aimlessly around the castle feeling like they had no place to go, or worse, no one to go to. More than that, though, she didn't like to think that there was anything wrong with those she cared about, and any of her friends doing something out of the ordinary for them would elicit concern from her, though she wouldn't push it if they didn't want to talk. _______________________ tag: @kitty notes: Outfit. <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Over the Rainbow"]

(Like I've been there before)
"I know, I'm hilarious." Kitty agreed sunnily, giving her friend an affectionate smile. She knew that she was far from being any such thing, but she tried to make up for it in other ways. For one thing, her Hufflepuff loyalty. Kitty had friends; she had a lot of friends; and she would never betray any one of them to any other. Which could cause some considerable tensions at times, but nevertheless, she stuck to it. Because giving in was not in her character. The blonde had not exactly had an easy life. Giving in would, at times, have been all too easy. But she had not done it then, and she'd be hanged if she was going to do it now, after all this time. Someone had once told Kitty that she was the epitome of a Hufflepuff, and while it had been meant as an insult, she hadn't taken it as one. She'd come a long way to get to where she was now. There was no way that she was going to waste all that effort.
Her grin only grew at Echo's terrible pun. That was just perfect for Kitty's sense of humour. "I like to think that I'm always the hot one." she riposted, while knowing that Echo was far more likely to fit that description than she was. Not that Kitty was interested in Echo that way- in fact, she wasn't entirely sure who she was interested in in that way- but she firmly believed her friend to be by far the most attractive Hufflepuff girl that Hogwarts had ever seen. "Sitting in the dorm all weekend sounds like a riot." the girl commented, completely devoid of sarcasm. "I still have that box of chocolates left over from Christmas-" it had been a present, although she had, rather to her distress, found herself unable to remember who for- "and I think I might have some shortbread my mum sent..." Food was very important to the blonde, and honestly, she was amazed that she managed to keep herself in any shape other than that of a sphere. But it would seem that Kitty was simply naturally slim, and who was she to look a gift horse in the mouth?
"I'm fine." the Scot assured her friend with a smile, gently squeezing Echo's arm to show that she appreciated the thought. "I just felt like going for a wander, and ended up here. Honestly, I was so bored, even the library sounded like a good idea." Kitty produced a brilliant smile which she aimed in the general direction of the librarian, who was hopefully not watching. People seemed to have the most ridiculous idea that libraries were not invented for the sole purpose of people having somewhere warm and cosy to sit and chat.

Hush Hush Kitty was always the hot one. Echo didn't think of herself as hot at all, she was pretty, but she wasn't one of those girls that turned heads just walking down the corridor. She never had been and she never would be, she was just... Echo. Kitty was definitely one of those girls, mostly because she was into her appearance, and she actually cared what she looked like, whereas Echo would just wear whatever was comfortable or appropriate for the weather, run a brush through her wavy hair and run out of the dorm for the day. She did care about how she looked, just not enough to want to impress others with it. She made an effort where it counted, like for special occasions and such, but aside from that, wearing tons of makeup and six inch heels was just a bit silly and unnecessary. Her sisters hated that about her. Well, maybe they didn't hate it, but they always encouraged her to dress up a bit when she was home for the holidays. It more often than not fell on deaf ears, but she figured they might convert her a little bit once she was stuck with them every day after graduation. Echo sucked in her bottom lip and began to chew it at the mention of the chocolates Kitty still had left over from Christmas. It had caused her some discomfort knowing there was an entire uneaten box of chocolates in their dorm for weeks now, and she didn't know where they were. She hadn't at all looked for it just last week when she'd been particularly hormonal, and cried in the bathroom because she couldn't find it and only had sugar quills left in her own Honeydukes bag. Sugar quills were not chocolate, nor did they make you feel better about being a girl and all of the crappiness that accompanied that every month. Of course she hadn't mentioned that to Kitty, she'd just got on with her day and eventually gotten over it after having a chocolate chip muffin for desert at dinner that day. "I love your mum's shortbread," she piped up, choosing to forego commenting on the chocolates at all. Kitty's mum made the best shortbread biscuits, it was always a highlight whenever she sent some, though Echo tried to politely not eat too much. "Yummy treats, crazy plants, a bit of music. We'll be fine," she nodded, thinking the weekend would go fast if they filled it with things they enjoyed like food and music. Kitty assured Echo that she was fine and just having a wander around, and Echo believed her. "You could have done something way more interesting, like finding some of the secret passages," Echo said with a wiggle of her eyebrows. That's what she would do if she ever got that bored that she resorted to just aimlessly walking about the castle. It was a good way of finding new and faster routes to lessons, and indeed discovering secret passageways hidden in the walls. The room of requirement was something Echo had only learned about in her sixth year, and that was just through a bit of gossip, but she'd made the effort to follow up on that one and it had turned out to be true. A whole secret magical room that changed to suit the needs of whatever you wanted at the time. It was pretty incredible, and she'd made use of it a few times over the past year. It was particularly good for dates, though she would never tell a soul what happened on said dates, that was between her, the hottie in question, and the room of requirement. "

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
Kitty was not possessed of anything which could be considered to even be approaching subtlety. She was, in point of fact, about as subtle as a nuclear strike. When Kitty was in the room, it was difficult not to notice. It wasn't that she was particularly loud, and neither was she especially assertive. She merely had a rather large personality which, without her consciously controlling it, or even being aware of it most of the time, managed to fill more or less any space as soon as she walked into it. The blonde simply had a natural exuberance and enthusiasm for life which meant that there was nothing that she could do to prevent herself from being noticeable. Kitty would, she knew very well, make a terrible secret agent.
But just because she lacked subtleties did not mean that she failed to notice them in others, and so the blonde's brown eyes caught Echo's lip as it vanished into her mouth. Kitty had lived with Echo for the last six years of her life; she knew the girl's habits and tendencies- and she would have had to be deaf, blind and stupid to miss Echo's little hormonal... thing... the previous week. Being female was a terrible thing. Once a month, regular. Although Kitty had to confess that she would probably be more worried if her monthly dose of torture failed to arrive. She'd always done her best to avoid that. Kitty was an empathetic girl, and so she perhaps noticed the change in Echo more than others did- and, knowing very well what was necessary, she had made sure to leave her neglected Christmas present in one of the other girl's drawers. That, she presumed, was what Echo was currently feeling guilty about and, while she hadn't quite expected the whole box to have gone, it was no skin off the Scot's nose. Chocolate was replaceable. Friends like Echo were not.
"So do I!" the blonde agreed with enthusiasm. "I wish I could bake like her." Shortbread had always defeated her. Cake was no problem and scones had always been something of a speciality, but Kitty was a lifelong devotee of the Scottish biscuit, and to be unable to bake her own was somewhat depressing. "So, what's that about music? Are you going to be singing, because if so then I'm out." The Hufflepuff grinned. In truth, she didn't think there was a great deal wrong with Echo's voice, but the girl was just so bloody perfect that she'd simply had to resort to making things up when she wanted to tease the girl. It was a shocking state of affairs.
Raising an eyebrow, Kitty considered the question for a brief moment and then shook her head decisively. "Nah. You're here, and you're much more exciting than secret passages." the Scottish girl declared, grinning as she pulled her friend into another hug. Not that secret passages weren't exciting, because they were... obviously. There was always an element of chance, however; you never knew where you might end up, and after hearing the horror story of the girl who had followed an unknown passage and had ended up in the Slytherin boys' dorm, she had been perhaps just a trifle more cautious with her explorations. But not much.

Hush Hush Echo had never had much luck with making biscuits, either. She hadn't exactly given it much of a try, though, if she were honest. Burning those cookies when she was fourteen surely didn't count, did it? Maybe another try was on the cards. "We should commandeer the kitchens one night and try and make some, I'm sure the house elves would help. Then we wouldn't have to wait for your mum to send some." It was a fine idea in Echo's head. She often visited the kitchens, and had not been a stranger in trying to make her own food if the house elves were busy, so attempting shortbread wasn't much different to her making her own pizza at midnight, or rustling up a sandwich when she'd been late for dinner. The tiny people who ran the kitchens were more than accommodating and understanding, and they did love a visitor. Plus there was the bonus of being taught by them. Sure, they used their magic for a lot of things, but they knew how to bake a mean pumpkin pie, and learning from the best was a huge perk of going down there and not being too lazy to help prepare whatever it was you wanted. "Oh yeah, allll the singing," Echo confirmed with a nod. She wasn't a bad singer, but she wasn't great. She could hold a tune, and she had rhythm, but was no ballerina. Music was just a life essential for most people, wasn't it? Echo liked to have a radio on for background noise when she was doing homework, or just hanging out with friends. At home she even had earphones that she wore when she was out flying. It was weird not being able to hear the world around you while you soared through the sky, and quite worrying at first, the prospect of a bird crashing into you, or even another person because you just couldn't hear them coming, but music and flying... bloody brilliant combination once you got past being disoriented! Flying to a rhythm, and even swinging your bat to one, or throwing a Quaffle through a hoop in time to the music was fun, and taught a surprising amount of control, sticking to a beat like that. As far as music in her dorm went, Echo didn't mind singing in front of her dorm mates, or any of her friends, for that matter, she wasn't shy. "You love my singing," she teased, nudging Kitty playfully. "And sorry, but I am definitely not more fun than a secret passage. Today I am homework girl, and my super power is not falling asleep in the library." She'd only done that once before, and nobody had been around to see. She had woken up in a chair by the fire, with drool on her chin and a pencil stabbing into her bum where she'd shifted in her sleep. Her parchment was crumpled from being squished under her armpit - she had no idea how it got there - and she'd had a dead leg, but aside from that she had considered it to be quite the decent nap. It really was the most peaceful place in the castle, especially in the summer when everyone would rather be outside in the sun. Of course, Echo usually preferred to be outside in the sun too, there was nothing like being out in nature to make you feel good, but the peace of the castle when it was abandoned was just lovely. She imagined it would have been like that over Christmas, too, but there was no way she'd ever miss going home for the holidays, not that she had that many left to skip before graduation. _______________________ tag: @kitty notes: Outfit. <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Over the Rainbow"]

I'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
Kitty nodded enthusiastically at her fellow Hufflepuff's suggestion- Echo always had such awesome ideas, which was probably why they got on so well, since Kitty's ideas generally did not fall into such a category. But it would be so much fun, and easy too- after all, the kitchens were literally next door for the badgers who were lucky enough to have their sett located in the basements. More than once, Kitty had been guilty of sneaking out in the middle of the night if she felt a little peckish, and the houseleves had always been incredibly friendly, welcoming and obliging. In fact, she had felt quite guilty about being there in the first place, and the last time she had gone, she had tried her best to help with the washing up. Unfortunately, the little creatures wouldn't hear of it, which had only made the Hufflepuff feel even worse. Maybe this time, she could make up for it... But she doubted it. Still, she was sure that the house elves would be delighted to help them- they always seemed incredibly flattered when you asked them for their recipes, which was a plus since, when Kitty had first asked if they could possibly see their way clear to letting her have a peek at their recipe for scones, please and thank you. she had thought that they might well take it as an insult. Thankfully, that had not been the case at all, and she had come away with a neat copy of the entire recipe, with helpful notes made in the margins. Yes, the Scottish girl was firmly in favour of house elves. Wonderful creatures and massively underappreciated.
"That sounds like a great idea!" she confirmed verbally. "When do you fancy? Maybe I should write and get my mother to send my oven gloves." The blonde gave her friend a grin. Of course she didn't own a personal pair of oven gloves- heck, she barely owned a personal pair of knickers, she was so disorganised. No doubt the house elves would have plenty, although Kitty wasn't entirely sure why seeing as she was almost certain that, with the amount of magic that the house elves could command, they would have no need whatsoever for such mundane articles as oven gloves.
The girl grinned and nodded at the suggestion of singing. Kitty loved music, being a capable violinist and reasonable pianist herself, and she was frequently found to be humming as she made her way around the castle, much to the annoyance of everyone else. It was a basic element of her existence, and she would be simply lost without it. The blonde wasn't a fabulous singer, but she could get by with most of the right notes in a reasonably stable mezzo-soprano.
"Of course I do." she assured her roommate with a grin, and she meant every word of it. Kitty adored Echo for her cheerful and optimistic outlook, and her musicality was a definite part of that. One of these days, she was determined, she and her roommate were going to give a concert, and Echo was going to sing, and Kitty was going to fumble her way through the accompaniment. Just as soon as she got around to actually mentioning it to the girl... "And that, lass, is very definitely a superpower."

Hush Hush Echo would happily go to the kitchens right then and bake biscuits, but she knew that if she didn't get through the book that sat closed on her lap, she'd probably miss something important and get a 'T' in Herbology. She'd never gotten a grade that low in Herbology, despite not being too great at it, and she didn't want to start now just because her stomach told her it was a far better idea to make biscuits than study. She wasn't the most naturally smart person in the world, but she was capable of working her little backside off like a trooper until she got passing grades. If she managed to get on top of her homework, she'd be happy to skip down to the kitchens for some fun through the week. "Maybe one day through the week if I can get through my homework," she said sensibly, knowing Kitty would understand how much Echo liked to put in the hard work to keep herself afloat in lessons. Her free time was often given away to school work, and in her final year that was more important than ever, though it was also important for her to enjoy herself this year, because it was the last chance she was going to get to just do the things she loved to do around the castle, and she wasn't eager to let the year pass her by without some fun. Echo let out a breath of a laugh when Kitty told her that not falling asleep in the library was definitely a super power. "Don't let the librarian hear you saying that," she whispered, blue eyes glancing about for signs of any of the library staff. One of them, a young woman with dark hair and a very pretty face, was actually really lovely, and Echo wondered if the woman had ever kicked anyone out of the library since she'd worked there. She wasn't keen to test the woman now, so she kept her voice hushed and leaned her head back against the back of the couch, closing her eyes. "A nap would be so nice right now," she admitted, feeling the pull of the fire, taunting her, whispering to her that if she would just relax, the most amazing sleep would suck her in. A shiver ran down her spine, and she curled her knees up, wrapping her arms around them for more warmth, even though it was far from cold in the room. She needed to liven up a bit and get through her book, but it was so cosy. Maybe just a minute of resting her eyes. Or half a minute. _______________________ tag: @kitty notes: Outfit. <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Over the Rainbow"]

Biscuits were always a good idea. This was a truth which Kitty lived her life by, and would probably continue to do so. It was a mystery to her and many other people just how she managed to maintain her slim figure, but she supposed that she was simply lucky that way, and she had no intention of looking that particular gift horse in the mouth. Otherwise, she would probably turn into a small mammoth, and that would be an utter catastrophe. None of her clothes would fit, and that would be a definite problem because Kitty had seen plenty of people wandering around in clothes that were far too small for them over the years, and it was never a pleasant sight. That was without getting started on her underwear, some of which would very definitely be uncomfortable should she gain any significant amount of weight.
But yes, food was important. Kitty was a very Hufflepuff person by nature, she was well aware, and it seemed to be a Heaven-sent piece of luck that her common room was located right next door to the kitchens. The trouble was that sometimes it was all too easy to pop out for something to eat when you got a bit peckish at night. If she'd been at home, she would merely have rolled over and tried to go back to sleep... maybe... but here, the kitchens were barely a few moments' walk away, and temptation was ever-present. Honestly, the Scottish girl was aware that her diet was not entirely healthy, but she hadn't dropped dead yet, and so she didn't see much harm in a few biscuits... or a lot of biscuits. Shortbread was a particular weakness of hers, especially with chocolate on the top and a mug of tea to accompany it.
She shrugged at the girl's comment. "Whatever floats your boat." she returned with a humorous smile. Kitty understood how important homework was to Echo. That wasn't to say she agreed with it. Her brown eyes met Echo's blue ones, sparkling with humour. "I'm sure they can live with the shocking realisation that the library is not my favourite place." she commented with a smile. The blonde leaned further into her friend's side and closed her eyes momentarily as she yawned. "Ugh... Yep. I could just fall asleep right now, couldn't you? It's been a long week... Actually, what day is it?"

Hush Hush Kitty was talking, but Echo was too busy trying not to fall asleep. It would have made more sense to focus on what her friend was saying to keep her brain ticking, but Kitty's soft voice wasn't helping at all. And it was so nice shutting her eyes for a moment. Between the crackling fire, the hush of people talking in whispers around the room, and the cosiness of being curled up on a squishy couch with her friend, it was just the perfect recipe for dozing off. She wouldn't, of course, that would be rude, but it was a struggle to force her eyes open, to make herself think about anything other than napping. She didn't often nap, usually having far too much to do on any given day to have the time, but Echo did love her sleep. She wasn't a morning person in the slightest, and usually had the temperament of a disgruntled bear around her dorm while she was getting ready to go upstairs for breakfast. It took her a while to come around, but food usually perked her up for lessons, at least she had something to snap her out of it so that she could focus on her school work. Right now she had nothing. Nothing but the sinking disappointment in her stomach at Kitty's question. Realising that tomorrow was Monday was not a fun feeling. "Sunday all day," she answered with a groan. It probably sounded like she was groaning because it was Sunday, but it was most definitely because it was the end of the weekend, and nobody liked to think about that. "I think we should have another Sunday tomorrow," she went on, face glum as she stared into the fireplace. "I'm not ready for Monday yet." She was ready for Wednesday, though. Hufflepuff Quidditch practice was always a welcome thing, and Wednesdays and Fridays were their days to rule the pitch. If tomorrow was Wednesday Echo would be nothing short of dying with eagerness for it. She was captain of the team this year, and whipping her teammates into shape had been so much fun. The Hufflepuff team were stronger than ever, and they had a real chance at winning the Quidditch Cup this year, something that Echo would be ecstatic about if she was the one to lead them to the win. It would only help her chances of getting into Professional Quidditch after graduation, too. Yes, she definitely would have preferred tomorrow to be Wednesday. _______________________ tag: @kitty notes: Outfit. <3 template by izzy[googlefont="Over the Rainbow"]

For once, Kitty paused in her incessant conversation as she suddenly realised that her friend was not exactly paying attention. With a gentle smile, she gave the girl a pointed squeeze on the arm. As much as she would love to let her friend drop off and get the sleep that she seemed to so desperately need, the blonde was very much aware that the librarians would not be too keen on Echo spending the night on their couch and, though she was by no means heavy, the other Hufflepuff was by no means light enough for Kitty to feel happy about the prospect of carrying her down however many flights of stairs back to the common room. The idea of waking her up again later on was not one which she found particularly appealing- Kitty had shared a dormitory with the girl for years, and while Echo knew some of Kitty's most intimate secrets because of that, the major fact which the Scottish girl had picked up about the other was that Echo was the opposite of a morning person. In fact, sweet as she was for much of the time, Echo was downright disagreeable first thing after waking up, and Kitty didn't much fancy the prospect of incurring her roommate's wrath just because she'd managed to drop off in the library. All in all, better to keep the poor girl awake.
She pulled a face in sympathy with her friend's feelings. The Hufflepuff disliked Mondays intensely because they meant that she actually had to do some work, and while of course Kitty was no slacker, she nevertheless resented the return to routine, classes and boredom. Honestly, Hogwarts was wonderful, but after so many years in the place, it became just another school, and Kitty was quite excited to leave. She'd miss it, but there was a whole world out there, just waiting to be explored... Honestly, the Scot didn't know where to start.
"I'd be quite happy to have Sunday all week, but I bet you wouldn't." Kitty returned with a grin, knowing well how much her roommate loved her Quidditch. Personally, it had never appealed, but she knew that Echo was good, and she hoped that the girl got all that she wanted out of it. Kitty would rather have both feet firmly on the ground and no chance whatsoever of being knocked over by huge black balls randomly flying about, thank you very much.
