PERSONALITY Boggart: The sun - rather obvious, one would assume. Mirror of Erised: His parents and sister, alive and happy Patronus: Bat - Reading the news of Grindelwald's demise several decades ago. Silas is outgoing and charming, it helps that he has that vampiric something about him but even without his mystical charms, Silas would easily sweep you off your feet. He has an elegance about him that gives away his age, but he appears eternally in his mid-twenties. Thank you vampy genes. Silas is passionate. Extremely so. When he likes something, he loves it. When he hates something, he loathes it. He can very much reach the extremes but it doesn't mean that he is all drama drama drama. There is a cool serenity about him as well, just be prepared for action when a passion emerges. Having had nearly a hundred years to hone his conversational skills, Silas is rather quick witted. He can be sassy and fun, or pointed and sharp. Which version you get is completely up to how you treat Silas, the people he cares about, and people in general. His father adored people, and his mum was one with nature. Don't expect to get away with harming either in his presence. HISTORY Mother: Mina Lewis, eternally 63, halfblood, deceased 1933 Father: Fan Zhang, eternally 67, pureblood, deceased 1933 Siblings: Ellara Zhang, eternally 4, pureblood, deceased 1908 Partners: Others: Albus P.W.B Dumbledore , former tutor, old friends, war buddies Mina, a witch from the UK, and Fan, a wizard from East Asia met a very long time ago and fell madly in love. Their courtship spanned several years before they decided to settle down and raise a family. Their first child was a boy born in late December 1900, a proud moment for Fan and Mina; they named him Silas. Their second child, Ellara, came nearly a few years later in mid-April 1904, but she was not long for this cruel world. Winter of 1908 was a particularly cold one, and on a dark rainy night a man knocked on the family’s door seeking shelter from the storm. Fan offered the man a hot meal and a few hours rest in the warm home, and soon the family went to sleep only to be woken by the sounds of screaming, their guest having fled. Ellara’s tiny body laid lifeless in her bed, Silas hanging on the verge of death in the next bed, two prominent bitemarks on his shoulder. A katsura tree was planted in Ellara’s honor on the family’s property in southern England, but Silas could only visit it after the sun had set. His parents sought out every possible cure, but it was of no use. Silas was now, and forever would be, a vampire. Cursed to the darkness, shunned by the community he had grown up in, loved only by his parents. The loss of his little sister made Silas weary of vampires, but his father insisted they were not all as cruel as the man who had taken Ellara from them and cursed Silas to the night. In an effort to show his son the compassionate side of his new brethren, Fan sought out and introduced Silas to as many humane vampires as he could come by (which were, admittedly, harder to find than he had hoped). Growing accustomed to his lot in life, Silas was crushed when the summer after he had turned eleven, no owls came to deliver a long-awaited letter. Silas was not welcomed at any of the local magical schools because of his affliction, but that simply would not do for their only remaining child, so Fan and Mina arranged for a tutor. Since Silas could not attend a wizarding school, he had lessons in the evenings and after several long-studied years was able to wield a wand, becoming a very powerful, very dangerous vampire. Despite the obvious perks of his newfound skill, life was not simple for Silas nor any of his family members. Still healing from the loss of Ellara just over 20 years prior, Silas and his parents were thrown into a war they did not volunteer to fight. The evil wizard Grindelwald was causing a commotion and in the midst of the war, Fan and Mina were slain. Silas barely escaped, blaming himself for years following their deaths and vowing vengeance against the evil wizards that had taken up arms against the peaceful humans and other magical creatures like himself. Silas fought alongside Newt Scamander, under discrete instruction from Albus Dumbledore. In 1945, when Grindelwald was defeated, Silas moved to China and has spent the last several decades there, keeping in touch with old friends from time to time and making the occasional visit to Ellara's tree on the anniversary of her death. Returning full-time to Britain has never crossed Silas' mind, not until word of a new dark wizard coming to power reached his ears. Afraid of what might happen if Lord Voldemort is left unchecked, Silas has begrudgingly returned to the UK, prepared to join his old friend Albus in a fight for peace in the magical world.
