PERSONALITY Boggart: Finding his siblings bloodied and beaten on the floor, dead, too late to help them. Mirror of Erised: The most amazing library of books, weapons and wands. Patronus: The night he lost his viginity. Oh what a night! He can't produce a patronus. Umber is one of the easiest people in the world to get on with - so long as you're not a complete twat that is. He has his limitations, he knows what he can and can't handle when he's around people and if there's someone that gets under his skin but is a nice person, he'll excuse himself and leave the area in a calm, polite, subtle way. If it's someone being a pretentious knob or a complete wank, he'll speak up and tell them to jog on. Still he's easy to make friends with, so long as you're a decent enough person. Umber's a pretty smart guy. He spends some of his spare time in the evenings tutoring younger years to help them get through the torture that is homework and the hell that is exams. He's always been a bit of a giver and never really wants anything in return, though he finds it touching when one of his tutees gives him something at the end of the school year as a thank you. He's received all sorts. New quills and ink. Different parchments with all kinds of nice patterns. Six pack of butter beer. A bottle of fire whiskey that he wasn't going to dare ask how they got it. Even books. Umber's a bit of a champion for the underdog, although he certainly doesn't view himself that way. He just does what's right by his conscience. He will always stand up for the little guy that's being stepped on because he just doesn't see bullying as the right way to go. This has of course lead to quite a few differences of opinions and even a few fights, but Umber believes it's worth it to stand up for what you believe in. He's very set in his ways with regards to that. Some people are lovers, some are fighters, but Umber is both. He's had multiple partners since and often more than one at once. He's never really had much of a boyfriend or girlfriend, he's never really had much of a crush on anyone, so to speak, he's much more into a one night stand, or friends with benefits kind of relationships than anything serious. He's not sure he can actually love someone the way people are expected to love a single individual. He's just too much of a giver to be restricted to one person. Or so he thinks. HISTORY Mother: Felice Belby, 58, Ravenclaw, half-blood Father: Edmund Belby, 58, Hufflepuff, pureblood Siblings: Damocles Belby, 30, Ravenclaw, half-blood, famous potioneer (invented the Wolfsbane potion) Fortuna Belby, 22, Ravenclaw, half-blood Partners: None worthwhile of mention. Others: Sakura Belby - owl Umber Belby was the third and last child for Felice and Edmund Belby. He was a happy child and spent his time staring at anything and everything in wonder. He would often just watch ants moving along in a line for hours. He's look closely at a single page in a book for far longer than it would take to read the page. Umber just absorbed knowledge and not just absorb it, he took in every single little detail he could find and he'd remember it. He was a child that took pleasure in the details of things. Being well travelled and open with the world, Felice and Edmund wanted the same for their children. They travelled the world with them, letting the experience everything that life had to offer. Umber enjoyed his holidays, his parents guided him through his younger years but they gave him freedom to be himself. His relationship with his siblings was great because they were as free and relaxed as Umber. When it was time to go to Hogwarts there was no doubt where Umber would go. He'd be in Ravenclaw like his siblings. Right? It turned out that actually, no. The sorting hat felt Gryffindor suited the level headed Belby child. While his siblings were a little more heads in the clouds, Umber was down to Earth and focused. He came to find through dealing with bullies, that he was a lot braver than he'd ever thought. He stands up for the underdog when he comes across one and has been in many, many fights because of it. Bloody lips, swollen eyes, broken noses. He's suffered the lot and more. He's still quite a Ravenclaw in the sense that he'll study well, enjoy learning new things and is pretty book-smart, but he's more of a fighter for those that need someone to stand up for them, he's always looking to do the right thing. In his fifth year he was made Prefect but warned that more fights would see him lose the race to head boy. Umber took this information on board and did next to nothing about it. He still got into the occasional fight here and there but it's his will to do what's right that he's more concerned about.
