Clem greeted Lilith and Rabastan as nicely as she could without going overboard. She wanted to roll her eyes and ignore the icy blonde bitch but she had to engage, although Lilith demanding Lucian pick up Alec made Clem internally cringe. Evie would be getting an earful of what a twat Lilith was, tonight. Clem took Rabastan's seat that he'd offered when she'd arrived and when Lilith sat, too, Clem struck up a light, superficial conversation, wanting to drive her fingers into her sister-in-laws baby blue eyes.

The family was all there and despite how irritating some of them could be and despite their differences, Clem couldn't help but smile. Lucian made a lovely little toast, giving her some well deserved credit. Clem was impossibly proud of the family she and Lucian were creating and she knew it couldn't have been so perfect if it wasn't for the role that she and Lucian both played to ensure their lives were everything they wanted them to be, and more, especially for little Alec and any other children they might some day have. "To Alec." She said, not wanting to toast herself because who would even do that? Besides Lyra, obviously. "Happy birthday, sweetheart." She said, raising her glass to her son. She turned to Lucian who gave her a kiss and she smiled. "Thank you," Clem said quietly, her eyes falling upon Lucian for only a moment before she looked down at Nathaniel. At least he was somewhat good looking, she supposed as she watched him try and devour his fist, "I couldn't have made it through this year in one piece without you." She said, looking up at her husband. "You are an incredible man, husband and father. You deserve just as much credit as me." She raised her glass, "To you." She tapped her glass against Lucian's before she took a sip and looked out at the family. "How long until we can tell them to shove off, do you think?" She mused quietly to Lucian, looking to him with a coy smirk. This was just the family gathering. They were going to have to do this again with even more people on the weekend.

Annoyingly Clem couldn't really fault any of Alec's aunts. They were all wonderful to him in one way or another and they all clearly loved him. Clem had had her doubts over how Lucian's sisters would treat her son as they didn't exactly seem warm to her. Well Liv was okay, but Queen Bitch and Attention Starved Star were always a concern to Clem. "Ugh," she said almost silently to Evie. Clem let out a sigh, "As if it's not enough to make her own baby cry, she's trying to set another off." Admittedly Alec seemed pretty happy in his aunt's arms, but Clem wouldn't have been surprised if he started screaming in her face, in fact, she'd actually be rather proud. Clem looked down at her watch. Everyone should have been there by now but they weren't, "Any word from Theo?" Clem surveyed the room, Lyra demanding as much attention as her older sister. Of course. Heaven forbid the room fall into a comfortable chatter without one of the Burke sisters being an attention whore. Liv excluded, although she was late too.

It was finally Quinn's big night. The way Lyra had been going on about it though, you'd have thought it was her big night, but then again Lucian's sister had a unique way of making absolutely everything about her. She had to be the centre of attention and she'd made a huge deal about tonight. Clem was more than happy to go a long and support her sister in laws boyfriend in his endeavours. She was dressed up, her mum had come over to look after her precious little prince, and she a Loosh were out the door, ready to enjoy whatever wine and cheese would be circling the gallery tonight.

Taking the carriage to the art show, Clem chatted with Lucian about what she was expecting tonight. She talked about Quinn's big night and of course Lyra had to get a mention, although Clem kept it shallow, wondering what Lyra would wear tonight, she figured it would probably be something striking but would it draw attention away from the art and to her very own assets? Probably. Clem also talked about how it was now she'd been back at work for a couple of weeks and she was enjoying being back in the swing of things. It was also great being able to spend time with Rab and have no Lilith stalking around. Man that bitch dampened the mood.

Once they were at the gallery, Clem took her husband's hand as he helped her out of the carriage. As they walked into the brightly lit gallery, Clem shrugged her coat off and looked about as someone took it. The gallery was busy and she could already see a few pieces with little red dots on their descriptions. Good for Quinn, she supposed. "We best have a look before all the good pieces are gone." She smiled at Loosh, taking his arm and exploring the gallery with her husband.

Alec was one! He was a whole year old and Clem couldn’t believe it! Time had just gone by so fast. Her little Prince was an absolute darling, although she would have liked it if he slept more. They were having a large party for him on the weekend but as it was his actual birthday today, she had invited just the closest in family and friends to join them in helping to celebrate this very special milestone.

With their home beautifully decorated in pale blue and white throughout every room and corridor to mark the occasion, Clem finished getting Alexander dressed and made her way downstairs, carrying Alec on her hip. It was just a little gathering, nothing too formal so she hadn’t dressed up too much, nor had she gone overboard on dressing up Alec. No doubt her darling sister-in-law Lilith would dress up as though she were about to attend some grand gala, but everyone else would hopefully be dressed more appropriately for the event. Clem had stated on the invites that it would just be casual attire, no need to get fancy, but Lilith couldn’t help but dress up, although Clem had no idea how Lilith was doing after having had Nathaniel. She’d only seen her a couple of times. Once to wish Rabby, Lilith and tiny baby Nathaniel a Merry Christmas and once more for a Happy New Year. That was plenty of dealing with Lilith, although now she was having to see her again for Alec’s birthday. This time of year was terrible. At least Clem could rest knowing the rest of her friends and family would be there today, meaning she wouldn’t have to spend too much time with the eldest Burke daughter.

“Here comes the birthday boy!” She called to Lucian as she reached the bottom of the stairs. Coming around some balloons, “Mum and dad should be here in a bit - oh!” She smiled, seeing her parents stepping out of the drawing room, “Mum, Dad, hi!” She smiled, her mother coming over for a hug and giving her a peck on the cheek, greeting her before taking Alec and smothering him in kisses and wishing him a happy birthday. Clem’s dad gave her a little kiss on the head and then joined her mother to coo over the birthday boy. “Are your parents here yet orrr?” She asked trailing off, looking about, half-expecting the Burkes to be here already.

The idea that Dora, of all people, had not thought of a party, was almost shocking to Clem. She followed her friend down the stairs, holding Alec carefully and following Dora into the kitchen. Traditionally men weren't ever at baby showers, traditionally they weren't really involved beyond helping to create the little darlings, but Dora never did anything traditionally and this baby wasn't exactly conceived the traditional way, as husband and wife, so Fin being at the baby shower was a possibility. He'd probably lap up the attention of being the only man in the room and single at that. Perhaps Dora didn't need Fin hogging attention on her special day, but then would she really enjoy herself much without Fin around and not being able to drink? Well probably, she was going to be the centre of attention and showered with gifts for herself and the baby, she'd bloody love it!

"You can't throw one yourself," Clem said informatively, shaking her head, "That gives the whole 'Give me gifts' kind of vibe, like, begging or something." She said, nabbing a star sandwich from Dora's tray. "I'll host it and plan it for you." She said, "It'll be amazing. We can go through a list of who you want there." She said and then took a bite of her sandwich, already planning Dora's baby shower. It was going to be amazing. She was already planning little thank you hampers for the guests and secretly revelling in the thought of having Lilith Lestrange attend. Once invited it would be entirely rude and improper of her to refuse, especially when the party was hosted by her cunning sister in law, but that was only if Dora wanted her there. If Dora didn't want her there then Clem wouldn't think twice about not inviting the sour faced cow.

Clem wasn't sure what she could really do to help Dora feel at ease. It was true, she needed to get a move on for preparing for her baby, but it wasn't a whole lot of work, Clem would happily help her out or loan her the her house elf for a while so she had some extra magic about the place to help organise things, and the house elf was pretty good with organising things. Her and Lucian's house elf was pretty good at arranging a room, Clem supposed it came from cleaning them so often and needing to navigate them a lot. Clem didn't really think much on where things should go in a room but she though Dora would be the best for that sort of thing. "He'll be a good boy." She said, grinning at her son, "A proper gentleman, just like his daddy." And Loosh was quite the gentleman, at least that was all Clem had ever seen of him. He was a gem of a husband and she'd been very lucky indeed that they got on so well and that they'd fallen pregnant so quickly after getting married and that they'd had a son first go. It was all rather perfect for their lives. "I cannot wait to see what you've picked out," She said, heading out of the stark nursery, "Please tell me you're having a baby shower," She told Dora, "You'll get most of your baby stuff at that, so hold off on buying anything just yet." She said with a wink, knowing Fin would go all out, even if he might not get an invite, and Clem would certainly pitch in half the nursery and wardrobe, if not more.
