 Shouting in the street gonna take on the world someday Cass stared at her, mouth hanging open, as Harper gave him an earful of abuse and then stormed out of the classroom, making sure the door slammed behind her. He blinked a few times, then pursed his lips. "Dragonshit. Yeah." Cass turned to the cauldron and carried on with the potion alone. He threw ingredients in and stirred carefully, his mind whirring with Harper's words. She had some serious issues. He felt like she had stormed out because she didn't want to be tutored. It clearly made her feel inadequate and that was a huge problem for her so she was taking it out on him. He was relieved that she had left, he wouldn't deny that, but part of him wished she'd had the backbone to stick it out. He really had been trying with her. Finishing up the potion, Cass scooped some into a vial and tidied up the classroom before heading for Professor Appleseed's office. "This is Harper West's potion from our first tutoring session," he told her, placing the vial of yellow perfection on Appleseed's desk. "She did great. I don't really think she needs my help." He really didn't want to push the issue because he had absolutely no doubt in his mind that she would do it. Harper chucked the shrivelfig into the cauldron whilst glaring at him, and Cass gaped, leaning over the cauldron to get a better look. "Did you just...?" He pointed to the floor on the other side of the table. "Half of that went on the floor!" No wonder she needed help, if this was how she went about her schoolwork. Shaking his head, Cass carefully dropped the porcupine quills into the cauldron one at a time. It was reassuring that he could read her so well even though he didn’t really know her. Predicting her psychotic behaviour would be really useful to him during these study sessions. ”Or you could put the shrivelfig in the cauldron.” He grabbed the first ingredient and tossed it across the table to Harper, hoping she’d be satisfied throwing things into the cauldron instead of at his head. He picked up the porcupine quills and held onto them tightly. Rolling his eyes, he pointed at the ingredients laid out in front of them. "Do you know anything about Euphoria?" he asked, all business now. Harper and Euphoria didn't exactly go hand in hand, not in Cass' experience anyway, but he hoped she had at least a little bit of knowledge on the potion because he would not be doing all the work today. If he was going to tutor her, she could earn her grades, she wouldn't be getting an easy pass. "And I'm gonna make you-" The classroom door slammed and the Autumn Vexx lyrics lodged in his throat, causing him to let out a choking, spluttering sound as he stared in horror at the girl standing in front of him. "No freaking way." He squeaked. Harper West. The crazy witch who'd tried to smother him to death with his own shirt last week. Cass froze for a minute and just stared at her, brown eyes wide in horror. "You're not allowed to kill me, Appleseed said we're doing this, so you can't touch me." His words came out in a rush, and he ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm his nerves a little bit. There were so many ways she could attempt murder in an empty classroom. She could shove him out of a window, bury him in the walls, stake him with a desk leg, drown him in the potion they were supposed to be making. Then again, she probably wasn't smart enough to do any of those things, Cass reasoned, which meant that her attacks were more likely to be mundane and easily fought off. Professor Appleseed, the Slytherin Head of House didn't quite ask him like that, it was more a telling than an asking, but Cass had agreed immediately. He liked the part where it would go towards his grades if he helped out someone who was struggling, but honestly, he would have agreed anyway. Cass was just a good person like that. So, now he was spending his Saturday morning in an empty classroom on the fourth floor, a cauldron set up on the large table in front of him, and all of the ingredients laid out around it. They were making an elixir to induce Euphoria, which Cass found easy and really freaking cool, but apparently the girl he was tutoring did not. He had no idea who she was, he had just been told to meet her at ten on Saturday morning and that he would be tutoring her in more than just Potions, which was fine by him. Today was for potions, though, and he hoped to be finished for lunch so he could hang out with his mates after. Cass perched on the edge of the desk, humming the latest Autumn Vexx song loudly. And then singing it. And wiggling, shimmying, and well... just dancing. He didn't want to look like he was following her, but he was cold and wet and he needed to get inside. Scowling at himself and then at Harper, he hurried so that he could overtake her, dodging a clear path around her and her leaking school bag. "Careful everyone! West is dripping ink and bubbles everywhere, she's determined to kill someone!" he shouted loudly as he passed her. A few students glanced their way and moved out of Harper's way, but Cass was done. He broke into a jog, reaching the castle ahead of her and heading for the Ravenclaw tower to clean himself up. It was soggy and cold, much like the rest of him, but the ink had gone. At least she'd fixed that problem for him. As she should, idiotic witch leaking ink all over the castle. He picked up his own school bag, which had fell off when she'd jumped on him, and stuffed his soggy shirt in the front pocket. He needed a bath before dinner. Cass thought she might actually be about to wash his shirt right there in the gardens, but before he could comment, Harper leapt on top of him, her legs squeezing his hips as she shoved his bubbly shirt in his face. The bubbles stung his eyes and he squeezed them shut, trying to turn his face away but she had a firm grip on him so he had no chance. He made a muffled cry of outrage and stumbled backwards, tripping over a rock and falling flat on his back, Harper still on top of him. "Get off!" he shouted, bubbles threatening to fill his mouth. Cass spluttered and growled. He needed to gain control of this situation, because this crazy, wild girl was going to murder him, he was sure of it. He gripped the tops of her arms and pushed, rolling the pair of them over until he was on top of her, pinning her down in the grass, bubbles in his hair and all over his bare chest. "What did your last house elf die of?" Treating him like some slave who would clean up her messes. She had some cheek. Cass folded his arms across his bare chest but then his annoyance told him not to.
