Professor Appleseed, the Slytherin Head of House didn't quite ask him like that, it was more a telling than an asking, but Cass had agreed immediately. He liked the part where it would go towards his grades if he helped out someone who was struggling, but honestly, he would have agreed anyway. Cass was just a good person like that. So, now he was spending his Saturday morning in an empty classroom on the fourth floor, a cauldron set up on the large table in front of him, and all of the ingredients laid out around it. They were making an elixir to induce Euphoria, which Cass found easy and really freaking cool, but apparently the girl he was tutoring did not. He had no idea who she was, he had just been told to meet her at ten on Saturday morning and that he would be tutoring her in more than just Potions, which was fine by him. Today was for potions, though, and he hoped to be finished for lunch so he could hang out with his mates after. Cass perched on the edge of the desk, humming the latest Autumn Vexx song loudly. And then singing it. And wiggling, shimmying, and well... just dancing. So Harper had kind of seen this coming. Professor Appleseed had spared no tact in telling Harper that she needed a tutor and that one was arranged for her. There was no fighting back or disagreeing because Harper was clearly struggling, especially with potions, not only that but Professor Appleseed wasn't exactly the type of woman you could argue back with without consequence, even if it wasn't an argument and only a disagreement on something, you felt as though you were risking your life, so Harper bit her tongue, looked sour and went at the appropriate time for tutoring session.
With exams less than a month away, Harper knew she had to really get down to working on her potions. She'd started the school year doing okay, but with one thing and another, her grade had started slipping, right up until she got that dreadful T that had sent her day spiralling to hell. At least this was going to give her an opportunity to get back up. Sure a T was bad, but that was okay, she could come back from that, after all, there was no way she could get a shittier grade.
Deciding this would only be for the best of her school career, Harper felt somewhat positive about how this was going to go. She entered the classroom she was supposed to be meeting some dweeb in, only to see the last dweeb that she ever wanted to see again. "What the hell are you doing here?" She asked, slamming the door behind her. The set up of potions told her that he was her tutor, and honestly, Harper wanted to just dunk his face into boiling potion of boil potion.

Shouting in the street gonna take on the world someday Cass was gyrating. Hips thrusting, head banging, arms flailing (stylishly). "And I'm gonna make you-" The classroom door slammed and the Autumn Vexx lyrics lodged in his throat, causing him to let out a choking, spluttering sound as he stared in horror at the girl standing in front of him. "No freaking way." He squeaked. Harper West. The crazy witch who'd tried to smother him to death with his own shirt last week. Cass froze for a minute and just stared at her, brown eyes wide in horror. "You're not allowed to kill me, Appleseed said we're doing this, so you can't touch me." His words came out in a rush, and he ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm his nerves a little bit. There were so many ways she could attempt murder in an empty classroom. She could shove him out of a window, bury him in the walls, stake him with a desk leg, drown him in the potion they were supposed to be making. Then again, she probably wasn't smart enough to do any of those things, Cass reasoned, which meant that her attacks were more likely to be mundane and easily fought off. Harper's jaw was clenched and she folded her arms. She leant on one hip, looking Cass up and down. Was he for real? He was treating her like she was the threat when he was the one that messed up her bag, her books, her homework? "I'll stand wherever I want." She said, striding over to the same side of the desk as Cass, dropping her bag on the floor, not averting her eyes from his for even a single second. This was going to be hell and if he thought he could ruin her day even more, then she was going to throw him out the bloody window.

Rolling his eyes, he pointed at the ingredients laid out in front of them. "Do you know anything about Euphoria?" he asked, all business now. Harper and Euphoria didn't exactly go hand in hand, not in Cass' experience anyway, but he hoped she had at least a little bit of knowledge on the potion because he would not be doing all the work today. If he was going to tutor her, she could earn her grades, she wouldn't be getting an easy pass. Harper's eyes narrowed on Cass as she glared daggers at him. She wanted nothing more than to punch him in the arm for being a complete wanker but he seemed to be moving on with the tutoring session, although he apparently thought she was an utter moron, "It's supposed to be bright yellow and make the drinker super happy or something," She rolled her eyes, unable to believe that she was in this position right now. How had her grade been so bad that she was now having to be subjected to this? Snape was the worst professor in Hogwarts and possibly just ever.

"And you know what happiness is, right? Are you familiar with it at all?" Cass took a step back as he spoke, fully expecting her to lash out at him for his snippy comments. Was he being an arse? Harper's eyes narrowed on him after he'd repeated what she'd said. He was definitely being a giant arse. Her fists clenched and her lips pursed tightly as she tried her hardest to keep her mouth shut, but at this rate, failing seemed preferable to putting up with Cass Wilder, who was ramping on, insinuating she was unfamiliar with happiness. "I don't know," She said, placing her hands on her hips and tilting her head a little as he coward away from her, "Maybe if I punched you in the face I'd find out." It would probably be an amazing feeling, probably even a strong enough moment of happiness to produce a corporeal patronus, but she needed to study, right? Maybe. Punching Cass seemed like a far better option.

It was reassuring that he could read her so well even though he didn’t really know her. Predicting her psychotic behaviour would be really useful to him during these study sessions. ”Or you could put the shrivelfig in the cauldron.” He grabbed the first ingredient and tossed it across the table to Harper, hoping she’d be satisfied throwing things into the cauldron instead of at his head. He picked up the porcupine quills and held onto them tightly. He really didn't want to push the issue because he had absolutely no doubt in his mind that she would do it. Harper chucked the shrivelfig into the cauldron whilst glaring at him, and Cass gaped, leaning over the cauldron to get a better look. "Did you just...?" He pointed to the floor on the other side of the table. "Half of that went on the floor!" No wonder she needed help, if this was how she went about her schoolwork. Shaking his head, Cass carefully dropped the porcupine quills into the cauldron one at a time. He was supposed to be helping her but honestly, at this point Harper was starting to think that maybe she would just rather fail than have to put up with this ginormous jackass. Sure she'd contemplated leaving, but now she was ready to throw some porcupine quills in his face and walk out. Unfortunately Cass seemed to have ahold of their porcupine quill supply and so maybe she'd just leave without a fuss. Although he certainly deserved something.
