Corona Avery was born eight years after her big brother, who was rather settled until a screaming baby came along. She was a noisy baby, always having something to cry or shout about, and learned to talk very early. She was pureblood elite, from a line of strong Avery genes that were truly pure, and with enviable riches. Her brother would be getting all of that, naturally, but Corona was spoiled by her parents, who weren't shy about spending and living a lavish life. Her brother didn't seem too enamoured with her when they were little, but then she could be loud and annoying, so she kind of understood, but they loved each other anyway. They were family, after all. Besides, Aurelius was off at Hogwarts by the time Corona was three, so they hardly got time to annoy each other at that point.
When it was her own time to attend school, Corona was confident as she boarded the Hogwarts express. She already had friends her own age who she had known since she was little, pure friends, friends who her parents said were the right sort, and it pleased her to know she was doing well already. Ever the perfectionist and clever clogs, she was sorted into Ravenclaw, which wasn't a surprise to anyone who knew Corona, but her parents had still held out hope that she might have a shot at Slytherin, like Aurelius. Alas, it didn't happen, but they were pleased that her intelligence would get to shine, and she did them proud.
Cor was popular at school, she and her friends ruled the roost, and nobody would mess with them. She was kind of loud and very chatty, though a lot of fun, and she was present at pretty much every party going. She dated guys here and there, but nothing serious. Her parents had told her that since Auri was marrying and passing on the family name, that she could have a bit of time before settling down, and she was pleased. She liked the idea of getting to choose her own boyfriend or husband, though settling down wasn't one of her immediate priorities. Most of her friends were married off already, though not literally, they had fine pureblood men betrothed to them, and that was that for them.
Corona had a pretty big crush on a guy two years older than her. Abraxas Vaile was a Gryffindor, pureblood, handsome with beautiful green eyes, and ran in similar circles to her. Plus he was filthy rich, but that didn't matter much to her, she had money of her own. Still, she pursued him, flirting shamelessly whenever they would hang out in a large group. She asked him out, and was delighted when he agreed. He was fun and vibrant, and not afraid to make a fool out of himself to get a laugh or two, which she loved. They had so much in common, and were soon a steady couple by his seventh year (her fifth).
Abraxas graduated and Corona took the time to focus on her studies, acing all of her final exams and shining in particular at Charms. She had her sights set on becoming a teacher, herself, though she wasn't sure where she'd get the chance to do that, since the position at Hogwarts was already taken. She graduated, and was reunited with Abraxas, though things ween't quite the way she remembered them. Their group of friends had started being a bit funny with him, and before long certain people refused to spend time with him at all. Corona thought it was weird, but she kept on seeing her friends, and dating Abraxas.
It was't until he proposed and she said yes that she discovered what was going on. In the two years that he'd been out of school, Brax had started mingling with mudbloods, and halfbloods, and even the occasional muggle. He had mentioned here and there that they weren't so bad, and maybe one or two of them could hang out with the gang now and then. He had been labelled a blood traitor, and Corona was devastated. Her world turned upside down in an instant. Her parents forbade her to marry him, and her brother was furious. He was cast out by their friends, and she didn't know what to do. Lose her friends, or lose the love of her life?
Cor decided to take a chance, and she stuck with Brax, her heart breaking as each and every person that she had known since childhood turned their backs on her. A few did't, and she was grateful for them more than they will ever know, but the people that had been so important to her for her entire life, now hated her. She was only twenty years old, and she was now an outcast. Her family wanted nothing to do with her anyway, though Auri did try his best to talk her out of marrying Brax, but she refused to break up with him. After a mighty row, Auri stormed out and never looked back, declaring her dead to him. Cor sobbed for a many, many nights.
She married Brax in a small ceremony in Italy. His family were all there, and it was beautiful, for all it's one-sided-ness. She was happy with him, she couldn't deny that, and she began to slowly fill up the hole her old friends had left with new ones because, as she discovered in time, Brax was right, the mudbloods were alright. She missed her family and best friends more than anything, but once Abraxas had finished his Auror training, she saw a job opening for a Charms Professor at Beauxbatons, and Brax put in for a transfer to the French Ministry so that they could move abroad and start a new life. She shone in her new role, but their marriage was missing something.
Corona wanted a child. She wanted many, but it hadn't happened yet, and they had been married for two years. She was almost twenty three when she finally sought medical help. Something had to be wrong if they hadn't managed to conceive yet, and she needed to know what was happening. Doctors eventually told her that she would likely find it very difficult, if not impossible to carry a child, and Corona was crushed once again. She sobbed longer than last time, though Brax did everything he could to comfort her. She had her children at Beauxbatons but it wasn't the same. She wanted a child of her own, a baby to raise and to dote on.
Another five years passed, their life in France easy and perfect, and they had both agreed that if they were still childless by the time Cor was thirty, they would adopt. It was quite the shock to everyone when not long after her twenty eighth birthday, she discovered she was pregnant. She was elated and terrified all at once. What if she lost the baby? What if something went wrong? She spent her entire pregnancy fretting, but somehow got to the end of it in one piece, and gave birth to the most beautiful baby boy she had ever seen in her life, just two weeks before her twenty ninth birthday.
Killian was a perfect child. He had his father's green eyes and strong jaw, and that perfectly upturned nose, and chocolate hair. He had Corona's smile, but she didn't see much else of herself in him physically. He was all Brax. As he got older, she began to see bits of her personality creeping through in her son. He was loud like her, and confident, and endlessly curious. He would speak out about everything, which made her incredibly proud, and he had intelligence beyond his years, always eager to be taught things. He had her sass, too, which made Brax laugh as much as it made Corona gape. She couldn't have adored Killian more, and motherhood proved to be a richer experience than she had ever hoped.
The couple moved back to England with their infant son, wanting him to grow up with Brax' family around him, and Brax's grandfater gifted them the Vaile estate, so that Killian would have a lovely home to grow up in. Brax's brother, Atticus, moved in with them, and bam, there was a perfect family once again. Cor was sad to quit her job in France, but once Killian was old enough, she began to work as a private Charms tutor for kids who could afford it, and would teach from her home daily, enriching the lives of children who, for one reason or another, didn't attend Hogwarts.
Killian grew up to be a young lad that filled her with pride, and her husband was happy working as an Auror, no matter what country he was in, and Corona finally feels like she's in a good place in life. Her dream of being a mother came true, her marriage to Brax proved worth the risk, as they are still madly in love, and he is just as fun and wonderful as he was as a boy. She has her brother-in-law, and she works at her dream job. What more could she possibly want?
