She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
It was his money, if he wanted to pick out his own present then who was Dora to argue, but she would of course put her own touches on it because that was what she did. Like the nicknames she gave her dearest friends, Dora couldn’t be bothered with being average. She had aspirations of grandeur and she wouldn’t settle for just getting Fin what he asked for. She would get him that and more. Though maybe not too much more. How much does a sodding lake even cost? “That sounds like an awful lot of effort. Can we just shag instead?” she teased but made a mental note to start hunting down the best lake person money could buy. Lake designer? Merlin, she didn’t even know the title she would need to look for in order to begin her search, but she would figure it out.
The idea of skating on a private lake was a nice one, and as Fin sent her thoughts to their time at school, Dora smiled. Perhaps Fin needed a giant squid, too, like the lake at Hogwarts held. Or maybe something smaller but equally as delightful to watch in the water in the summer months. The attention was turned Dora and what she fancied for Christmas. Any other time of the year, Dora could whip out a list of hundreds of items, ranging from extravagant to ridiculously extravagant, of all the items and experiences she wanted in that one moment. At Christmas time, however, her list was much shorter. She wanted her brother back. Seeing Theon again would make the holiday perfect and without that there was little to truly cheer up her mood. Fin tried, and she loved him for it and played along so as to not hurt his feelings for all the effort he put in. She knew from experience that she just had to wait. Christmas would pass and the ache in her heart would lessen. “A little more of this view,” she answered instead, giving his bum a playful smack as he crawled slowly back into her flat.
She made it back inside and shook the snow from her hair, then her dress. She looked around the place and smiled. A cute little tree on the dining table and some mistletoe on the balcony. That was more than enough Christmas cheer. “Let me go freshen up, then you can treat me to lunch while I detail my Christmas list for you.” She grinned and gave him a peck on the cheek before disappearing into the bathroom without giving him a chance to argue. A few minutes later she returned. Scooping her handbag from a shelf over her bed, Dora ushered Fin out of the flat as she began running down a list of anything and everything she could think of that would fit in her apartment for him to consider giving to her.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
It was impossible to scold Mimosa when she was suddenly being such a good little doggie. Perhaps she wasn’t fond of being shut up in her carrier, was all. As Dora held her, it was clear that the dog was no longer growling or making noises unbecoming of a member of the Parkinson family. “You just don’t like being locked up, do you? Mummy understands that.” A noise behind her signaled Kit’s appearance and it was accompanied by another bout of growling. This time, with Mimi in her arms instead of tucked away in her carrier bag, Dora saw the pup’s lip curl into a snarl, her fangs bared as she growled at Kit who was bringing out their breakfast.
“Mimosa!” Dora scolded, completely shocked at her dog's behavior. There was no reason for her acting this way and Dora was mortified to have such an ill-behaved dog. Perhaps she should have taken Lucius’ advice on hired a professional dog trainer to teach Mimi some manners, but she hadn’t displayed this level of distrust with any of Dora’s other friends. Dora turned her body, and Mimi, away from Kit, twisting her neck to look back at him as she attempted to put the dog back into her bag as a punishment for being so rude. “I’m so sorry, Kit. She’s never acted like this before. I think she’s just nervous meeting you.” Nervous or not, the moment Dora’s hands moved off the dog’s fur to fasten the closures of the bag, Mimosa leapt forward, knocking the carrier to the floor and brushing past Lyra as she ran at Kit.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Talking about her work as a bartender wasn’t something Dora was really keen on doing. She never hid it from anyone who knew, it wasn’t as though she pretended with her friends that she didn’t have a job – and such a lowly service job such as this one. Certainly Fin knew as he was her employer and boss, not to mention her best friend, but Liv knew as well, and a handful of other pureblooded witches and wizards that she hung about with, most of whom she had grown close to while at school and who had played witness to her family’s fall from grace first hand. Lucius wasn’t really a close friend, but he was close enough to the people who knew Dora and the Parkinsons to know what had happened in her life and exactly how far she had fallen. There was no need to hide her work from him, though if he ever came into the club on a night she was working, well that would be another level of embarrassment for the petite brunette. Acknowledging that your father swindled the wealthy out of their money and paid for it with his life was one thing, serving one of the hottest men in the united kingdom from behind a bar while your shoes stuck to the spilled liquor on the floor and your face was shiny from the sweat of working your arse off to make a few extra tips to be able to afford drinks out with your girlfriends once a month was simply more than she could bear to think about. Were he to ever picture her in his mind, she would much prefer him to visual an imagine like he saw before him now; leisurely and smiling brightly, a sparkle in her eye that showed the dark times were a thing of the past (for this week, at least), and her hair and makeup flawlessly executed to perfectly accent the outfit she had picked out for the day. If Lucius Malfoy ever closed his eyes and fantasized about Dora, let it be this image that excited him.
Dora was no stranger to dealing with people with bad breath. They got all sorts at the Starlight, though the bouncers did a fairly decent job of ensuring most everyone met the standards Fin was looking for in clientele, but every once in a while there would be some bloke who looked delicious and when he opened his mouth it made the staff sick. “Add a touch of Angelica root to his drink, that ought to make it more tolerable,” she suggested effortlessly. It was a trick one of the other bartenders had shown her a while back and despite her loathing having to be of the working class, Dora actually picked things up rather quickly. What she wanted to pick up, however, was her modeling career which seemed to be going nowhere quickly.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora managed to rein in the gigantic smile that wanted to break free on her face as Lucius greeted Mimosa as if she were a proper lady and not just an adorable little pup. Dora gave an amused grin instead as she patted Mimi on the head and then stooped down once more to let the pooch walk along beside them. Dora raised herself to her full height, increased a few inches thanks to her tall heels, and smoothed the skirt of her dress with her hands. Lucius was asking about her plans for the day, and her feet began moving forward as she thought about the answer to his question. “Well,” she mused aloud, then gave a little laugh. “I guess I hadn’t really thought of much beyond finding a little furry companion. I’ve work later, but that’s several hours off still.” She brushed a curl behind her ear as she looked at the handsome blond man beside her. Dora’s shift started at nine, and being that it was a weekday she knew it would be a rather slow night. She would bring books with her during weeknight shifts, and while taking her breaks she would read. Sometimes she would read about various household charms that she was still attempting to master (completely ignoring the fact that it was basically like studying which she had loathed while in school) but more often than not it was suspense novels that kept her from rapping her fingers into oblivion on the bar top out of boredom.
A cool breeze blew at their backs, kicking up the hem of Dora’s cloak and blowing her hair forward into her face. She brushed her curls back into place effortlessly and allowed her eyes to travel up the length of Lucius’ tailored suit before reaching his eyes. “And what of your plans, Lucius? Have you anything exciting going on to make me jealous of my boring plans for the day?” If he didn’t have anywhere to be, Dora could suggest a few places that might interest him, particularly between her legs but alas he was married and he probably wasn’t up for that sort of thing. A girl could dream though.

Darling Jovi, Yes! We will absolutely have a brilliant soiree this summer, your first as a graduate! It won't be long now. How are your studies getting on? Did you take full advantage of the Easter holiday? Fin and I had a marvelous time. We found all the liquor and then got completely pissed. It was grand. Mimi refused to wear the bunny ears! Every time I brought them out she cowered under a chair. It was so disappointing, but on the other hand I did look quite fabulous in them myself. I've included a picture because I know you'll be wanting to see.
At job at the Ministry could be interesting. Would you start as some sort of an inter or something? Making midday tea runs for important people. Merlin, I'd curse myself if I had that job, though I'm just making cocktails for people so I guess it's just more of the same. I bet you'll get all sorts of promotions straight away. Do they make good money in the Ministry, you think?
You leave my Finley alone! If you break his heart...well if you were anyone else I'd have to threaten you, but you're my cousin so I won't go that far. Just be nice to my guy. I need him around. I'll see who else I've got available to throw your way.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The weather was rather lovely and it was so nice to be able to stroll along the pathway that weaved through the lawns with her new little puppy tugging at its lead, trying excitedly to take in everything it could. They pair passed by a pond with several ducks swimming in the water and a small cluster of children standing at the edge, throwing stale bread for them. Mimi barked wildly and pulled on the leash, trying desperately to chase after the ducks who hardly seemed to notice her at all from this distance. Dora held tight and didn’t allow her new puppy to get away from her, laughing at how the adorable, wild white hairs on the tip of Mimosa’s ears shook frantically as the dog barked. Tugging a little firmer on the lead, Dora guided the pup away from the enticing ducks.
A deep, seductive drawl came sounded just behind her and Dora’s turned her head to see Lucius Malfoy falling in step next to her on the path. She beamed at the sight of him. He was utterly delicious and she’d fancied him for the longest time now. It was a shame he was married, she would really have loved to have the chance to slide between his sheets for a little fun. It made it all the more appealing as he walked through the lovely park in a sodding gorgeous suit that fit him perfectly as if it was made for him. It probably was. The Malfoys were rather wealthy, though she wasn’t sure just how wealthy, where he fell on the ladder. She knew that her family was near the middle for most of her life, and now they were practically the bottom rung. Fin’s family was closer to the top, as was Livia’s, though neither held a candle to the Lestranges. Everyone knew they were the wealthiest family in Britain, possibly all of Europe. But whether Lucius’ lot ranked above or below Fin’s, Dora wasn’t sure. What she did know was that Lucius had enough money to make a girl’s head turn, and the looks to make her want to drop her panties.
“Hello Lucius,” she purred, her body being tugged unexpectedly forward as Mimi caught sight of some muggle teenagers throwing a frisbee and attempted to chase after the flying disc. She pulled the lead, her steps slowing and soon coming to a stop as she stooped down to scoop her tiny dog up into her arms. “My little companion, actually. I’ve just picked her up from the shop across the way. Isn’t she precious?” Dora cooed, pressing the doggy to her chest and giving her a nuzzle then holding her up so that Lucius could meet her properly. “I’ve named her Mimosa,” she explained.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Similar to Dora’s arrangement, Kit lived a larger city with very close neighbors on all sides of him. Unlike Dora’s flat though, Kit had a spacious townhouse with four full floors and proper walls between all of the rooms, none of which had to double the others like Dora’s bedroom/living room/dining room. It was still rather cozy compared to the mansion she had grown up in or to her friends’ places, most of whom lived in elegant manors or impossibly spacious flats that cost more a month than what Dora made in a year. She wasn’t complaining of course. Her place was teensy tiny but then again so was she, and at least she now had Mimi to keep her company. The pup, as if on cue, growled from inside Dora’s bag as she dropped it carefully from her arm and placed in on the floor beside the dining chair which Dora had pulled out for herself, intending on watching the all too seductive act of having a man cook for her.
“That all sounds lovely,” she replied, speaking over a full on bark coming from her bag. “I haven’t had a home cooked meal in ages,” confessed Dora. “I’ll probably eat a bit of everything, if you won’t think me a pig.” She ate fairly healthy things whenever, though she couldn’t pass up chocolate if it came around, but she wasn’t all that consistent in her diet. Dora went through spurts of eating whatever she wanted in moderation, and then practically starving herself for weeks if she thought she was getting too fat. She was always on the waif side of thin and her perception of her weight generally had more to do with her bouts of melancholy and whether or not men were paying her enough attention for her liking. It was a dangerous line she teetered on, but she didn’t always starve herself if she was in one of her episodes. Sometimes she cut herself to manage the emotional pain. Dora didn’t find a problem with either means of coping, but she still kept her habits to herself. Luckily, Dora was truthful when she said she hadn’t had a home cooked meal in a while and she was really rather looking forward to eating a little bit of everything Kit made for her.
Another growl came from her bag and Dora was just about ready to pull Mimi out of her carrier and give her a good telling off for being rude, not that the animal could understand but it would make Dora feel better at least. “The balcony would splendid,” Dora said, her voice rather strained from trying to hide her aggravation as she picked up her bag and headed toward the French doors that led out to the ivy covered space. “I’m just going to have a peak,” she said, excusing herself as she stepped out onto the patio.
“What is going on with you, Mimosa?!” she said in a scolding tone as she set her bag on the table outside and opened it up. Mimi was looking up at her from inside the little carrier, standing on all fours and ready to leap out of the bag. Dora picked the pup up and held it high to that they were eye level with each other. “You need to be polite! Kit isn’t going to invite you back if you’re a bad puppy. Do you understand me?” The dog panted and licked Dora’s nose.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic It was a New Years Eve miracle that Dora had gotten Kit out on the dance floor at all, let alone for several songs. As expected, the center of the dance floor was the best place to not feel as though he was being watched because everyone around them was too preoccupied by their own partners and their own dance moves to worry about what some hot young couple were up to. Dora twirled and shimmied and pressed herself up against Kit under the guise of trying to speak to him over the roar of the crowded nightclub. Dora sweetly suggesting they get something to drink so Kit wouldn’t have to dance to another song, at least not straight away. She was hooked on him now. Who knew he was such a marvelous dancer?! It should have been obvious from that sexy lean but muscular body of his but she had never before witnessed Kit dancing so how was she to have known? *** She was having a fabulous time. Fin always threw the best parties, so it was no wonder this evening was such a success. Dora had lost track of Fin hours ago but Kit was keeping her company and she was being on her very best behavior; dancing at – and once on top of – the table while they watched the other party goers flirt and fondle each other on the dance floor. She was ordering drinks two at a time and whenever Kit didn’t partake she would pout, and if that still didn’t work she would drink his for him. By the time the countdown to midnight started, Dora was feeling very good about herself. She was ridiculously attractive, obviously the most gorgeous witch in the place, and she was teetering on her impressively high heels from all the booze which only aided in building up her self esteem in that moment. Ten. Nine. Eight. Dora stood beside Kit, resting her head on his shoulder as she shouted the numbers along with the rest of the club, tilting her face down so she wasn’t shouting straight in his ear. Six. Five. Four. She downed another shot and placed the glass clumsily on the table in front of them. Two. One. Cheers rang out across the nightclub as 1979 chimed into existence and Dora turned herself in towards her friend. Running her hands through his dark hair, she pressed her lips to his. It was midnight on New Years after all, a kiss was expected and practically mandatory. Running her tongue over his lower lip, she pulled away and grinned at the no doubt startled Auror. “Happy New Year Kitten.”

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Feeling satisfied that her best friend found her attractive, Dora grinned and waited for him to pull his own cute butt out onto her patio, waiting for the oh-so-expected bitching to begin. To her surprise, Fin only offered to make her patio larger and there was barely a hint of whining at all in his voice. Dora grinned. “Just hang the plant, Avery.” As Fin began climbing on the little bit of furniture she could fit outside her window, Dora dusted the snow off the little railing that surrounded her teeny outdoor space. She leaned back against the railing, allowing Fin to have as much of the space as he needed to in order to find a place to secure the mistletoe. It didn’t seem to be all that difficult and yet when he hopped off the bench he had a ridiculous look of a man who had just completed a hard day’s work. Dora applauded his efforts.
Fin asked for her to try it out, and he puckered his lips and closed his eyes as he stood just beneath the mistletoe. Dora giggled and let him stand there like an idiot for a moment, kissing the gently falling snow. After a few moments Dora walked all of two small steps to reach him, then reached up and planted a chaste kiss on his lips. “My hero,” she cooed, batting her eyes dramatically at him. “Now I’m all ready for Christmas,” she continued in a fairytale princess sort of voice. He had, of course, come to cheer up her Christmas, so she’d play along . “I just need to know what you want. Money is no object! Also, I’ll need your credit card.” She tilted her head and gave him a clearly false look of innocent, turning back and forth as if to cement her look of purity.

My Sweet Jovi, This isn’t my first rodeo, love. I’ve already had Fin’s cook purchase about 100 mini bottles of liquor for us to hunt. I’ve told the cook and the maid to hide them all over Fin’s property. It’s going to be brilliant. And I’ve been working on a new dress as well. It’s really just a redesign of a dress I wore a few years back but it’s coming along nicely and I’m expecting all the compliments.
Have you figured out your plans for the summer yet? Like, what sort of work you’d fancy doing? Honestly, if you get the opportunity to marry rich and not work, do that! Working is such a drag and you have to do it every week! Thank Merlin Fin’s my boss so I can take off whenever I like. Well, not WHENEVER but he works the schedule around for me often enough. I bet if I were screwing around with him I’d get even more time off. haha
I can offer suggestions for your next bloke but don’t go around pretending you’d listen to me or anyone else if we told you what to do. You know that’s a load of dragon dung!

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Younger and better looking. “Are you talking about yourself, FinFin? Because I’ve already told you, you’re not my type,” Dora teased him. Dora’s ‘type’ was a wide spectrum; on one end there was ‘he’ll pay attention to me’ and on the other were ‘wealthy and attractive’. Depending on how things were going for her, the pendulum could swing from one end to the other. On a regular day her standards were somewhere in the middle; kind enough, good looking, more money than what was in her own Gringotts vault. Today, however, in her gorgeous ballgown and having Fin on her arm, she was feeling utterly fantastic and so her standards for the night were impeccably high. It would be hard to top a Lestrange, but she was sure she could find someone to sneak off with for a bit if Fin ditched her for another bird – though if he did do such a thing he would get an earful in the middle of the night when Dora barged into his home and climbed into his bed pouting and needing to have her ego stroked and her mind soothed. Fin knew well enough by now how easily Dora’s moods could turn, particularly when she thought she was being abandoned or forgotten.
Dora allowed her friend to turn her slowly around on the spot, taking in the vast number of attendees. It was a motley crew, to be sure, and it was evident which party-goers were of the upper class and which were more of Dora’s current level. She didn’t intend to stay below with the unwashed masses for long. She had enough connections in proper society that once she got herself in the proper place, climbing the social ladder would be easy enough. At least that was what she told herself. Still, Dora would stop at nothing to get to the station Fin currently held, and that of her friends Evie and Livia, too. Searching for a future sugar daddy in this crowd would be tricky though, with all the commoners and halfbloods mixed in. She would do best to just stick with Fin for the evening, and as she finished her slow spin she grinned up at her friend as he pulled her in for a dance. “Maybe you are my type,” she cooed. Dora leaned in and planted a small kiss on Fin’s cheek. Her lipstick was enchanted to stay put all night long, despite what she drank or who she smooched on, so there was no worry for Fin to need to wipe away her kiss.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora’s birthday had only been a few weeks ago and as a special gift to herself she had nicked her bestie’s credit card and gone on a little shopping spree. She didn’t go wild with Fin’s money, not really. When she was younger and Dora had stolen her father’s cards and gone shopping, there was always a little bit of revenge in her spending sprees. Heath Parkinson had been the only man Dora ever truly loved and all she wanted in return was for her father to show the slightest bit of interest in her. The older she got, the clearer it became to the raven-haired witch that she wasn’t worth of her father’s love. She never stopped trying to earn it though, but still there was a secretive little part of her, way back in her subconscious, that wanted to make her father furious at her because at least it would be something more than ignoring her existence. She would push the envelope, as it were, and buy things she didn’t really need, though she always adored them. To this day, her closet was brimming with dresses and shoes and handbags that she had bought in an attempt to get her father to notice that she had stolen his cards but if he ever did notice, he never mentioned it to his daughter. Stealing Fin’s cards were completely different and totally an act of love, though in which direction this love flowed was still to be determined.
Using Fin’s money and knowing that there was a fancy gala coming up, Dora bought herself a gorgeous ballgown. Gold, glittery, and absolutely stunning. Not to mention that it had pockets! She wouldn’t need to worry about carrying a handbag with her or fumbling around under the layers and layers of fabric to get to her wand which she normally wore in a garter on her thigh. It was the perfect gown for the occasion and as she dressed and admired herself in the mirror she was certain her date, Fin, would agree. “You be a good girl, Mimi, and mummy will bring you back some posh snacks.” Dora patted her pup’s head as she stuck her wand in the deep pocket of her dress and scurried to the door.
Fin was waiting on the street with the carriage and as she stepped out of her apartment building she made sure to give a little twirl so that he could properly admire her. “I know, I know,” she remarked before he could warn her. “No ritzy carriage sex.” She grinned at her best friend and let him help her up into the carriage, then sat and smirked devilishly at him as he climbed in behind her. “Not until I’ve had a few drinks, anyway.” Dora make sexual jokes and flirted casually with Fin throughout the carriage ride, allowing plenty of opportunities for him to shower her with adoration and compliments. She did look absolutely stunning tonight. Fin, as always, looked hot as hell and she told him as much several times.
Their journey didn’t take very long and before she knew it, Dora and Fin were being escorted into the Minister for Magic’s back garden which was done up like something out of a fairytale. There were already so many people in attendance and Dora felt both nervous and excited at the night’s potential. “Oh, there’s Evie,” she whispered excitedly into Fin’s ear, gracefully gesturing to her friend who stood among the crowd further in to the party. “And she’s chatting with your friend, Lestrange. I didn’t know they knew each other.” How close Fin and Rodolphus were was not quite clear to Dora. She knew they hung out from time to time. Dora would catch a glimpse of the older man coming or going when she was living with Fin, and she always gave him a flirty greeting and of course she had mentioned to Fin how cute she thought the older wizard was. When she found out who he was, the wealthiest bloke in Britain, he magically became even hotter. It made sense that Evangeline would know Rodolphus Lestrange, their families, like her own, were often invited to the same functions but she had never considered that they might actually know each other more than just in passing. Maybe they didn’t, maybe they were just being polite. “I heard he’s getting divorced, the poor chap. Think he’s on the rebound yet? Euphadora Lestrange has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora waited on the stoop outside Kit’s townhouse, admiring the brickwork and the greenery that was around her. She had turned and was looking at the buildings on the opposite side of the street when the door finally opened, and Kit greeted her and welcomed her inside. She grinned in return. “I knew you’d love it,” she said confidently of her outfit as she stepped into the home and gave her skirt a little fluff in order to show it off a bit more, as if he hadn’t just ogled her enough. He hadn’t. She could always be ogled more. She loved having any bloke’s eyes on her and if she even imagined Kit’s were staring at her in such a way she would go weak in the knees.
Kit was cooking her breakfast. She already knew that, of course, but having him say it aloud again made her giddy. Fin used to cook for her, he still did sometimes when she invited herself over (usually unannounced), but it wasn’t the same thing, not in the slightest. Fin, while hot and a really good kisser, was her best friend. She had naughty dreams about him from time to time but she didn’t generally think of Fin Avery in the same way she thought of Kit Devereaux. Even his name was sexy. This sexy man who had quite literally saved her life was cooking her breakfast and that deserved a moment’s pause.
A pause which was interrupted by a tiny growl coming from inside Dora’s handbag.
“Mimi, be polite!” she scolded her bag in a whisper, turning towards the stairs that would take them up a floor to where their breakfast was cooking itself under the spell of the handsome Auror. First impressions were everything, and Dora wasn’t about to spoil Kit’s first impression of Mimosa when she was acting up. The pup was probably not used to smelling food cooking, as Dora didn’t really know how to cook for herself. She could make a few cold meals and boil a sausage but anything more complex than that and she risked burning her flat down. She decided to let Mimi stay tucked away in her bag for a while longer until she got used to all the new smells, including Kit’s cat Azrael which would definitely be a scent Mimi hadn’t encountered since coming home from the pet shop. “What are we having?” Dora asked cheerfully, another growl emanating from the pink bag on her arm.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
”Maybe just one dance...” That was all Dora needed and more than she would have ever imagined actually possible. Sure, she had made a silly wager with Liv that she’d get Kit on the dance floor before the night was through, but she wasn’t really sure it would happen. Especially not with so little pushing, but it was better this way. Dora fancied Kit but she knew if she pushed him too much about anything he would shut down, and half the time he just walked away from her if she couldn’t control her flirting. It wasn’t her fault! She was a naturally flirty witch. Merlin blessed her with only a few talents but catching the eye of a wizard was certainly one of her more regularly used ones. Try as she might, she had yet to get Kit to return her flirty banter, but perhaps tonight was the night. He was drinking, smiling, out in a highly social setting – which was huge in and of itself, and now he was allowing Dora to easily drag him out onto the dance floor amid the shimmying and swaying bodies of some of the sexiest wizards and witches in London.
Dora, while rather selfish at times, did try to be a good friend to the people she cared about, and knowing Kit would be uncomfortable dancing in front of people, she pulled him to the center of the dance floor. Her thinking was that their dancing would be obscured by everyone else who was dancing around them, so the onlookers standing about at the edges of the club wouldn’t be staring, thus less chance that Kit would meet their eye and leave her alone mid-song when he became embarrassed or whatever emotion it was that made him close himself up like he did. The song had a nice beat and it was easy for Dora’s body to move with the music, the sequins of her dress catching the light and making her look like a skinny disco ball as she pressed her backside up against Kit and closed her eyes, letting the music take her.
