PERSONALITY Boggart: Herself, but cold, bitter, and alone. Delilah thrives off of the energy of others, and she's afraid of what she might become if they ever left her behind. Mirror of Erised: Delilah, hand-in-hand with her brother, and their parents smiling over them. Patronus: Peacock - Her most cherished and happy memory is eating those purposeful Sunday lunches with the whole Adkins family. Delilah cannot produce a patronus. Delilah Adkins is wildly outgoing. She collects friends like others might collect stamps. Socially, she adjusts to situations easily - Delilah is far better equipped for social interaction than her brother. Kindness is second nature to Delilah, but it often times gets undercut by her airheadedness. She's a bit oblivious, and is no stranger to saying things the wrong way. The upside is that she can mend almost any situation she gets herself into by drowning people with her love. There's a devious streak running deeply in her veins - it's the side of her that is pulled to run around the world alone, go skinny dipping in the Great Lake, and pick up total strangers. From a young age, Delilah knew she had a special gift - whether it was magical or not, she didn't care. Her mother called her an empath - Delilah could not just sense what other people were feeling, but she felt it with them. Trying to surprise Delilah was the actual worst. Delilah claims that this 'special ability' took up all of her brain, and that's why she's not smart. Aden says she's just too lazy to study, which is entirely her fault. Neither of them are wholly wrong. HISTORY Mother: Yvonne Adkins (nee Erikson), 49, Ravenclaw Alumni, pureblood (deceased) Father: Rorik Adkins, 54, Slytherin Alumni, pureblood (deceased) Siblings: @aden , 19, Slytherin alumni, pureblood Partners: none Others: @isadora , 19, Ravenclaw alumni, pureblood On April 13th, 1960 twins Aden and Delilah Adkins were born to loving parents Yvonne and Rorik. Delilah was the oldest, with Aden trailing her by eight minutes (she refuses to let him forget it, too). The two grew up in a wizarding family, both showing their skills at a young age. Their magic, it seemed, was stronger when the two were together, and often times created a hectic mess for Yvonne and Rorik. Aden and Delilah were nigh inseparable as they grew up – they were as close as twins could get. Their lack of shared identical traits were made up for in their incredible bond. They had the true definition of twin telepathy. Rorik and Yvonne were a happily married couple. Rorik was an auror, Yvonne a full time stay at home mom, and part time romance writer. Though they both led busy lives, they always made a point to share at least one meal a day together. In 1970, muggle-born disappearances were at an all time high. The wizard known as Lord Voldemort claimed responsibility for this. Rorik was among the aurors appointed to investigate Voldemort and these disappearances. Though Yvonne was hesitant to send their children to Hogwarts the following year, Rorik assured her the twins would be fine, as their lines were pureblooded. In 1971, the twins attended Hogwarts as planned. This was the first time they were separated, as Aden went to Slytherin, and Delilah was sorted to Hufflepuff. Delilah still holds this secret, and will take it to her grave - she purposefully went into a different house than her brother. The hat, sensing their bond and her wicked devious streak, was initially leaning towards Slytherin. After her vehement protests, she went to the hat's second pick for her - Hufflepuff. She fit in well, most of the house being insanely loving and kind. For the first time, she felt like she could breathe - even if it managed to hurt her brother in the process. The years passed and the twins attended Hogwarts uneventfully. In their second year they met the enamoring Isadora Vance, on the train ride and became quick friends. The numbers of muggle-born and mixed kids disappearing grew each year, something that heavily affected Delilah. Every week a new tear-stained letter was sent home to her parents, describing the sorrow she felt from the school. Though she tried to act chipper through it all - there were times when Delilah thought she might break. In 1974 Rorik was an auror on-site of one of the arson cases. He found a case-breaking clue as to one of the Death Eaters behind the arson. He only confides this information to his wife and his partner at the time. The fall of 1975 came - the twins were in their fifth year. They were called to the headmaster's office one day. One "I'm terribly sorry..." later, and they were parentless. Orphaned. Rorik and Yvonne had been attacked in their home - 'blood traitor' splattered across the walls in their own blood. Delilah shut down. She ceased to function. A hollow version of herself stalked the halls. The Adkins deaths and funeral were quite an affair in the press, though few actually attended due to the fear stricken by Voldemort and his Death Eaters. It wound up only consisting of Aden, Delilah, their Aunt on Yvonne's side, and Rorik's partner. After the short rites and burial, their Aunt departed, letting the twins alone to mourn. Rorik's partner, Keaton Heller, apologized to the twins. Wishing them well, and saying something along the lines of 'I wish I could've stopped them.' That night, laying in the bedroom they then shared at their Aunt's house, Delilah confided in Aden. Keaton was lying. She could feel it. He knew what was going to happen, and he was in on it. And there was nothing they could do. The twins came back to Hogwarts after the winter break. The usually chipper Delilah was broken. She was silent and reserved, shutting out even her best friend, Isadora. With her ability, Delilah couldn't stand to be around people - all she could feel was the pity radiating off of them. She finished out the school year just as solemn and lonely. The following year, after some time spent mending their souls, the twins were almost back to their old selves. Delilah would (sometimes begrudgingly) hang out with her old friends, socialize during dinner, occasionally laugh. Against Delilah's wishes, Aden told Isadora about what happened to their family. Fearing rejection, Delilah hid from Isadora for a week. It was when Isadora finally cornered her, to tell her that she still loved Delilah, that the dam finally broke and Delilah spilled her entire life out to Izzy. After that moment, Delilah felt weightless, not having to hold everything in anymore. With Isadora and Aden's help, she (miraculously) finished out her schooling and graduated on time. After graduating from Hogwarts the twins said goodbye once more, this time their separation a little more than just houses. Aden was going on to bigger and better things at the Ministry, and Delilah went to do what she did best - she ran. Delilah cloaked her fear in the disguise of 'travelling to find herself.' She never fully dealt with the death of her parents, caused by the betrayal of Rorik's work partner. Instead of facing that, she flew to Asia. Her week long trip to Asia turned into a few months visiting nearly every country there. Once she was done with that, she moved on to South America and followed the same procedure. Then North America, and then Africa, and then Europe - she even did a (short) stint in the South Pole. There wasn't really a whole lot of time spent on reflecting during her time away. As soon as any real thoughts started creeping into her head, Delilah panicked and fled. She didn't (and still doesn't) recognize this fault in herself. She calls it her adventuring nature, but it's really restlessness caused from insecurities. After two years of travelling, Delilah didn't have much left to see. She missed being at home, surrounded by love. For a long time she feared that when she returned, that love wouldn't be there for her. It put off her return to England for quite some time, until she bit the bullet and finally showed up one day on Aden's doorstep. After an awkward "what the hell are you doing here" reunion, he accepted her into his home with open arms. Since her return, Delilah has been filling her days with work from several jobs in Diagon Alley. Her flighty nature has her bouncing from location to location at least once a month. Delilah still isn't sure what it is that she is looking for, or what she wants to do with her life. She's just a rich, directionless kid with no one to point her in the right direction.
