PERSONALITY Boggart: The boggart is himself corrupted by the curses that he works so hard to break. In his boggart, he sees himself glaring menacingly, he's gripping his wand, and the next thing that Atticus knows the dead bodies of his younger sisters at his boggart's feet. Then his adopted parents, then he turns the wand on himself and kills himself. Atticus has a deep fear that one day he'll look too deeply into the darkest parts of magic and it will take him over. Mirror of Erised: Atticus tells people that his greatest dream is influence, to be the greatest curse breaker the world has ever seen. He'll tell people it's money, power, beautiful people to surround himself with. In truth, his mirror of erised is a cozy cottage in his homeland of Scotland. It's wild flowers in the garden, a warm fire, a spouse, children. Atticus wants a simple life, he's just not sure how to get there. Patronus: lynx cat - his happiest memory is when he was adopted by his parents. He has been able to produce a patrons, but the memory that he conjured to make it is usually a mix of being adopted and when his sisters were brought into the home. Atticus is pure love. He is sweet, caring, and affectionate. He cares deeply for the people in his life and is the person who you want around if you're ever feeling down or upset. Atticus is the person who will help others with no questions asked and will do anything for others. When most people meet him, they assume that he had been sorted into Hufflepuff during his school days, Atticus loves shocking them by explaining he might have been a hat stall, but he was sorted into Slytherin. His ambition, his work ethic, his determination all comes from his desire to help others. When with his family, Atticus loves being the protective and dutiful older brother. He has a soft spot for his sisters and will basically do anything for them with no questions asked. He knows at times they can be manipulative and take advantage of his good heart, but what else are little sisters for? Atticus spends Sunday evenings with his parents, checking in on them and enjoying his mother's Sunday roast. At work, Atticus is hard working and determined. He works hard with Gringott's and has been fortunate enough to travel the world breaking curses. Atticus loves exploring new places and meeting new people. He is loyal to his co-curse breakers and realizes that he owes them his life and is sure they feel the same way about him. Due to the dangerous nature of his work, he is very close with the people he works with. In relationships, Atticus is surprisingly open. He finds that there is so much love in the world, there should be as many people to love as possible. He's tried monogamy, but is open to all sorts of arrangements. Atticus is a firm believer that if someone else could make someone he loves happy, than he's happy for them. Atticus rarely gets jealous, and is good with keeping open communication when he feels that way. Atticus is attracted to men and women, and has had relations with people of all genders and gender expressions. He's spent a lot of his adult life playing the field and hooking up with various people, but he's starting to think about settling down and getting closer to that quiet cottage and warm fire vision he has for his future. Partners: a few exes, but nothing really noteworthy Others: various aunts, uncles, cousins, and his grandparents Atticus was born in a small fishing village in Taiwan. His parents were young when they had him, unmarried, but in love. They had a small home together and had big dreams of a home and life for their son. This lasted for six days. On the seventh day, the soldiers flooded the village. Hui-Ju and Tsung-Han attempted to keep their son safe from the Republic of China soldiers, but they had little success. Soldier's burned half of the village of those who would not accept the new reigning government and some even foolishly tried to fight back. His father was one of them. The soldier's destroyed the men, leaving Hui-Ju and her young son alone. Wracked with grief for the loss of her love, Hui-Ju attempted to leave Taiwan with her son, after a few days of travel, the lack of food, water, and sleep got to her. Hui-Ju left her son in a bundle of blankets, filled her pockets with rocks, and jumped off a cliff into the ocean. By some stroke of luck, the baby was found by Christian missionaries from England and given the name Atticus. He was brought to England with them, and placed in an orphanage until he was four years old. During those four years, Atticus learned from the nuns and spent time with the other children. When he was four, he met Catherine and James. They had several miscarriages and a stillbirth that led them to adoption. They traveled down to England, in hopes of meeting a child that they connected with. It took them twenty minutes to meet Atticus and decide he was their son. It took about six months for the paperwork to go through, and Atticus was theirs. He traveled with them up to Edinburgh and settled into his new home. His childhood was fairly typical given everything that happened in his first few years. When he was six, he asked if he could have a sibling for Christmas. His parents discussed it, and decided that they were ready for the big family that they always dreamed of. Over the years, the Parker family continued to grow with children who needed a good home. Atticus was the proud older brother of three sisters and did everything for them. When he was ten, he started to realize that something was weird about him. He was playing with his sisters and suddenly all of the toys in their room started to float and dance around. The kids thought that it was amazing, and called it "dance time" with all of their toys. When Atticus turned eleven, he was accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the following year. He thought it was a joke from his parents, and even brought the letter to family dinner to show them that he thought it was funny too. His parents, of course, had no idea what he was talking about. He showed them the letters, and told them about dance time. His parents knew that there was a chance that something could be different with their children given their starts in life, but they didn't expect this. Atticus showed his parents dance time and amazed them. Being the loving and supportive people they were, Catherine and James thought their son was extraordinary. The next day, a Hogwarts professor showed up and explained everything to the muggle parents. The professor explained that Atticus was a wizard and that he was to be given an amazing opportunity by going to Hogwarts. The professor explained where Atticus could get his supplies and how to go to the school. The family traveled down to London, said their goodbyes and Atticus was off to Hogwarts. Atticus was sorted into Slytherin due to his ambition and his dedication for learning everything he could get his hands on. Atticus worked hard during that first year, trying to learn everything he could about the magical world and learn whatever he could about this side of him. Atticus would write letters back to his family about what he was learning and tried to stay in touch with his sisters. It came as little shock to Atticus when he found out his sisters were able to do amazing things too. He counted down the days until he would be able to teach his sisters all about Hogwarts and show them around the school. Two years later, his younger sister joined him at Hogwarts and during his third year his middle sister joined. Atticus cheered for them the loudest when they were sorted into their houses and couldn't have been more proud. He was a little sad that they didn't share the same school colors, but he was thrilled that they would be able to strike out on their own and find their own paths at the school. Atticus had a typical experience at Hogwarts for the most part, he explored Hogsmead, he would watch quidditch games, study for classes. It was pretty peaceful except for some of his Slytherin housemates. During his fourth year, Atticus made an off-hand comment about being a muggle-born. Atticus was tormented by some of his housemates, even to the point of violence against him. Atticus kept it from his sisters, wanting to show them the positive side of the wizarding world, not the parts that would continue to grow and hate people like them. Atticus, as a result of the bullying and torment, trained long and hard at defense against the dark arts (having a knack for hexes) and dueling spells. He became part of the dueling clubs at Hogwarts and got his revenge against everyone that ever called him a mud blood. Upon graduation he passed along his gained knowledge to his sisters, knowing it was their turn to learn how to defend themselves. Atticus returned home to his parent's home in Scotland and tried to figure out what exactly he wanted to do with his life. Given his knack for spells, he considered going into the aurora training, but decided that he would want to take some time to discover who he was first. Atticus explained to his parents that he loved them dearly, but that he wanted to go back to Taiwan to try to learn what he could about where he came from. Catherine and James were supportive and offered their help in any way they could. Atticus promised to write and set out to the world to learn about it. Atticus fell in love with Taiwan, he gained knowledge heritage and even tried to gather information on his biological parents. Given the changes in governments, there was no information on his parents. With a heavy heart, he left Taiwan but swore that he would be back often. He learned some of the language, learned the food and the songs, and for the first time since he was only a few days old, he learned more about himself and felt like he had a real place in the world. It was from that positive experience that Atticus spent the next two years traveling. He would make friends, crash on couches, pick up odd jobs for money and food. He would still check in with his parents, but he felt free. It was during this time of self-discovery that Atticus began experimenting with men and women (sometimes at the same time, but that's a story for another day). Atticus dated a few people during this time, even a few of them at the same time, and found that he was happy being a free-spirit. During his travels in South America, Atticus got a letter from one of his sisters that their mother was sick. As quickly as he could, Atticus came back to Scotland to be with her. Thankfully, his mother recovered from her illness and Atticus promised that he would come back more often. His parents and sisters always meant the world to him, and Atticus wanted to be there for them. He considered revisiting the plan of working as an auror, given his talent for defense against the dark arts and dueling magic, but found work with Gringott's instead. He was able to have his free spirit lifestyle with traveling around Europe and Northern Africa to break curses of vaults, but still able to visit with his parents and sisters. Atticus has been working as a curse breaker for about fourteen years, and is starting to realize that his traveling and free-spirit life style cost him years of finding someone to settle down with. Fourteen years of brushes with death, sunsets over pyramids and Great Walls, fourteen years of a revolving roster of people to care for in the moment. After fourteen years, Atticus is considering retirement unless something comes into his life to give him that new sense of excitement and change.
