isadora persephone vance
PERSONALITY Boggart: Her sister Cora, completely lost to the beast inside of her. Her boggart would lunge at her and reflects the inner fear that while she loves her sister to no end, she knows that deep down there is an animal who is capable of killing her. Mirror of Erised: Isadora is receiving an award for her dedication to investigative journalism and for uncovering the complete list of active Death Eaters in Great Britain. Patronus: bear cub - happiest memory is when she flew on a broomstick for the first time. She is able to produce a patronus Izzy is a tough nut to crack at times. She is warm and loving to the people who she is closest to (a very short list of people), but she doesn't always do well with others. The running joke in the family is that she'll snap first and ask questions later. Isadora is dedicated to her future as a writer and understands that parts of it will be difficult and at times dangerous. She is proud, loyal, and dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. Isadora can come off as cold, callous, and at times rude, but she'll blame social anxiety and, at times, crippling self doubt. Izzy keeps a lot to herself, worrying that she would put more on her older sister Cora than needed. With her friends and family, Izzy is silly, loud, and fun to be around. She is the person who suggests wild adventures at 2 in the morning, then needs to spend the next day in bed to get over how much 'peopling" she did. Isadora works hard at her internship and dreams of being a front page journalist, and at times can take herself a little too seriously. She's the first one to volunteer for late nights and sometimes has to be dragged from her desk and forced to engage in anything other than work. HISTORY Mother: Angelique Farah Vance Father: Henry Fredic Vance Siblings: Cora Vance, 25, pureblood. Emmeline ____ Vance, 19, pureblood. Partners: none Others: Best friend Delilah Adkins, 19. Secret crush on Delilah's twin brother Aden Adkins Growing up, Isadora's life was as close to typical and normal as could be. She was the youngest of three daughters, loving parents, good home, anything anyone could want. When she was born, Isadora had to spend time in the intensive care unit due to unusually high blood sugar. After some time in the NICU, Isadora was able to go home with her mother. Growing up with Emmeline and Cora as big sisters, Isadora never knew heart ache, loneliness, or pain. When she was three years old, Cora went off to Hogwarts and started her education journey. Isadora and Emmeline missed her desperately, and clung to each other to cope with the loneliness. During summer times, the girls would be reunited and spend late nights in their backyard with Cora telling them fantastic stories about Hogwarts. When Cora would leave them for school, Emmeline and Isadora would be inconsolable. At ten, she attempted to hide in Emmeline's trunk and sneak her way to Hogwarts to be with her sister. She didn't get too far and to this day it is a favorite family story about how little Isadora couldn't stand to be without her sisters. The year without Emmeline was difficult, but she was able to dive deeply into her mother's collection of books to figure out what she could expect from Hogwarts and all of the mysteries that the school held. She would write letters to her sisters weekly, sometimes stories about people in their small town or something funny that their parents did. Her favorite to write was the adventures of a small black cat that would roam the neighborhood. At eleven, she was finally able to join her big sisters at Hogwarts! It was a joyful ride to Hogwarts with Emmeline and the various friends her older sister made the previous year. They laughed, they joked, and welcomed Isadora to the school. At the sorting ceremony, she stood with brother and sister duo Delilah and Aden Adkins. At thirteen, Isadora joined the quidditch team and was able to experience flying as the Ravenclaw seeker, a feeling that she still claims to be her favorite feeling in the world. She was always short and smaller for her age, making her an ideal seeker. She led Ravenclaw to some victories, but there were times when her analytical mind would get caught up in some Charms class lesson or story plot line and she would get too distracted to look for the snitch. At the beginning of her fourth year, and shortly after her fifteen birthday, Isadora received horrible news about her older sister Cora. She was in the hospital from a beast attack. She and Emmeline fought desperately to see their sister, but were stopped by their parents. Isadora and Emmeline were told that Cora was now dangerous and they weren't allowed to see her again. This, obviously, did not go over well with the youngest of the Vance family. Normally quiet and reserved Isadora found her voice that year against the perceived injustice of the school keeping the sisters from Cora. She yelled, screamed, and fought against the school to be released, but without parental consent there was nothing Hogwarts could do. Her parents finally told them that Cora was now a werewolf and not to be trusted. Isadora and Emmeline did extensive research at Hogwarts about werewolves and scraped together every piece of proof that their sister was no mindless monster. They figured out where their sister was living and shipped her all of their research. The family was full of Ravenclaws and what could warm a heart more than hours of extensive research? Cora being a werewolf brought the sisters together closer than ever and pulled them away from their parents. Emmeline and Isadora stopped going home for holidays, they even stopped going home for summer break. At first, their parents would try to force the young witches to return home with them and claimed that it was for their own safety, but after numerous times that she ran away from home to return to Cora, her parents stopped trying. When their parents cut off Cora, they cut off all of their children and Isadora has never looked back. The summer between her fourth year and fifth year, Isadora pursued her passion for writing. She began writing short stories based on some of the people in the small muggle town Cora lived in. She would share the stories with her sisters, and with their support she began submitting the stories to local newspapers. The rejection letters stung, but she kept working towards her goal. By the end of the summer, she came in second for a local libraries young author competition. She knew that it wasn't the start to her career she wanted, but it was where she knew that she had to be. Her sixth year helped to flourish the new voice and confidence she had gained over the years. She began to spend more time than studying, quidditch, sleeping, classes and repeating. She wrote stories in her notebooks, she took trips to Hogsmeade with her friends and sister. She finally learned how to embrace her time at Hogwarts as more than a place where she learned and slept. During her final year of Hogwarts, and the first year as the only Vance in the school, Isadora experienced a painful fall from her broomstick during a championship game and decided to quit quidditch. She had thoughts of going professional, but knew that she would never be as comfortable on her broom as she had been before. Isadora dedicated herself to continuing her writing and gaining a coveted internship at The Daily Prophet for after graduation. She dove into her writing and knew that she would have to practice as much as possible and become as skilled as she could. She made multiple submissions to The Daily Prophet, and other newspapers through muggle and magical England. After many sleepless nights and going through more parchment and ink than she ever thought possible, she finally got an interview with The Daily Prophet. After her graduation from Hogwarts, she earned her spot as an intern with The Daily Prophet, her first choice newspaper. She still struggles with the work and life balance, often having to be dragged away from friends or her sisters from her desk, but it is something that she is actively working on. She has a dream of one day helping to "out" the various members of magical England who support the Dark Lord, and knows that this is a role that can become dangerous. During a promise to her family to spend more time out of the office, she reached out to a old family friend who promised to each her legilimency as a way to become a better journalist. The lessons are exhausting and she's still struggling to even use the ability with her wand in hand, but it is a goal that is she actively working towards daily. Isadora hasn't told anyone about the lessons, mostly out of fear that her sisters or friends will fear for her safety since it is a dangerous practice to delve into the minds of others. Isadora currently lives with her older sisters in a muggle community, and has not had contact with her parents since Cora's attack.
