PERSONALITY Boggart: Seeing her younger sisters hurt. The boggart just approaches her as one of her sisters, bent and bleeding, bruised and helpless, begging for help but there's nothing that Cora can do. Mirror of Erised: Settling down with a husband and three kids in tow! Cats, dogs, you name it, the full family life, white picket fence. Everything! Patronus: Lamb once upon a time, now a wolf - Becoming a big sister for the first ever time. Cora cannot produce a patronus. Once upon a time Cora was a wallflower. She was quiet and easily considered a pushover. She let people treat her just about any way they wanted and she was always just considered so sweet because people couldn't really form much of an accurate opinion about her. She had a few friends in school. She was a good person, could probably still be considered a good person really, but she has changed plenty over the years. Cora is an extremely protective person. She's aggressive in doing so too. She won't just lay back and be walked over and she won't let any of her loved ones be walked over either. She's fierce and she's angry - a lot. Suppose it kind of comes with being a werewolf, bitten and not born. There's little about Cora's personality these days that resembles what she once was but ever since she was bitten under the light of a full moon and nearly lost her life she's learnt to take on a less passive role in the world, though admittedly her werewolf side is probably also to blame now, especially for anything of an aggressive nature. Once shy and a bit of a wallflower, Cora now stands out. Not always on purpose but she does tend to draw in stares when she calls someone out on their BS. She's blunt but not always honest. She's deceptive but not always lying. Anyone that knew her from her former years would not recognise the woman she has become. The shy little bookworm is no more. Though she does still love a good book - who doesn't!? After becoming a werewolf Cora found adjusting to life was hard and that further shaped her personality. She became more resilient of the world around her and more self-sufficient. She had to if she wanted to survive. It took a while but she became accepting of her lot in life and unlike a lot of witches and wizards in her position she did not hate what had happened to her. She hated the person that did it to her - still does to this day - but she deals with things the best way that she can. Life is not easy and life is not kind, a hard lesson to have learnt but one she carries with her everyday. She does not want for her sisters to go through anything like what she's been through and she will fight for them every day that she breathes. HISTORY Mother: Angelique Farah Vance Father: Henry Fredric Vance Siblings: Emmeline ____ Vance, sister, nineteen, pureblood. ____ ____ Vance, sister, eighteen, pureblood. Partners: None Others: Great-Great-Grandmother Corrina, whom she was named after. Life was so very simple and basic for Cora growing up. She was the first born child after three years of trying to conceive by Angie and Harry. The dotted on her and loved her with all their hearts. Her mother, a lover of the arts, often referred to her daughter as her muse and aptly so for her middle name was that of the muse Calliope. Her first name came from her father's side of the family from his great-grandmother, Corrina. Her father was not particularly close to his great-grandmother however he and Angie did rather love the name, even if it was simple in meaning. Life was beautiful and when Cora was six she got a little sister, something she'd always wanted! She spoke to her mother's belly as the little life grew, she sang songs and she loved her sister before she even knew if it was a boy or a girl. She wanted a friend to live with, she wanted someone to be close to. When her little sister was born, Cora was overwhelmed with emotions and the first time she held the beautiful little infant - she cried. Cora was always protective of her sister, right from the get go. Even during her mother's pregnancy she would remind her to watch out for her belly when she opened doors. She was a caring and compassionate child that just saw the bright and the good in the world. Everything in her life was vibrant. As if one sister wasn't more than enough Cora was blessed with another little sister. Her mother spent a little longer in hospital this time around but Cora didn't really notice. Her parents never spoke to her about it and she was just so happy and proud to have another little sibling. Another sister! Unfortunately Cora didn't have very long with her younger sister because when she was three, and Cora 11, Cora was off to Hogwarts. Excited for the journey ahead of her while at the same time missing her family greatly. Her heart ached to be with her sisters again but she promised to send them things from Hogwarts. She had no idea what but she'd find something to send them. Sorted in to Ravenclaw Cora's life was comfortable and enjoyable. She was alongside some of the brightest minds of her year and even brighter minds of the older students. She was looked out for by students that had a motherly instinct. Plenty of them wanted to coddle her and treat her like a child. She kind of hated it but she never spoke up about it and she found these sorts of friends useful for when she was stuck on homework. They were patronising but they had excellent insight and a far better understanding of the work she needed to do so she put up with them. And perhaps she put up with them because she was too much of a chicken to say anything to them about the way they treated her. Because of her rather docile nature through school she was an easy target for some. There was one particular bully that seemed to target her repeatedly but Cora just let it go, figuring the sad, pathetic whelp would grow tired. Plenty of other people stood up for her and eventually the bullying stopped. She didn't even really realise but once she did she had no idea why it had stopped and she didn't question it. It wasn't within her nature to question a good thing like that, she didn't want to look for trouble and start everything up again. Cora did well on her OWLs and NEWTs and went on to a career in the Ministry. young, quiet and unassuming she fit right in because people hardly ever noticed she existed. She ran around after people higher up than herself and did a good job. She got to know more people and came out of her shell a little more but one night things didn't work out as well as she'd have liked. At a friends fancy dress birthday party on the 20th of September, 1975, aged just twenty years, Cora was bitten. Having been drinking the usually quiet girl from the department that no one could quite remember was having fun. Dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood she was getting herself more attention than she'd ever done before. She was lit up and she was enjoying the drinks, the atmosphere and in particular, one handsome young man's company. Together the two made their way away from the house where the party was being held and traveled through a field, laughing and giggling as they went. Things started to get a little hot and heavy until a rustling caught Cora's attention. She brushed it off as nothing more than the wind but not long after there was another sound. A beast lurched at the pair of them and a searing pain drove through Cora's right thigh in so many places. Her screams tangled with the growls of there beast and the guy she was with blasted the beast but with its teeth still clutching at her thigh when the beast went flying, so did Cora. It let go and the guy from the party scooped her up and disapparated with her in his arms to St. Mungo's where Cora remembered nothing but waking up the following day. The news she received on the 21st of September, 1975 was crushing. Cora was a werewolf. The guy that had brought her in hadn't stuck around. Her parents were notified but her sisters were both away at Hogwarts. It was hard seeing her parents reactions, they recoiled from her when she went to hug them and the exchanged glances that Cora didn't need to be a legilimens to read. It hurt more than the bite, it hurt more than knowing she was going to be a second class citizen for the rest of her life. Life became hard. Something that had once been so perfect and then so bland was now terrifying. Cora faced the unknown - alone. Her parents were of no use and the only person that came to talk to her in hospital had been someone from the werewolf registry department. It was crushing, it was damaging and blow after blow followed. When she was released from hospital Cora was told she no longer had a job. She couldn't rely on her parents and her housemates she'd been living with had booted her out, throwing her stuff to the curb in the middle of the night. She had nowhere to comfortable go but her parents paid for her to stay in some cheap, seedy motel. Cora couldn't find work in the wizarding world no matter how hard she tried. She turned to the muggle world where she found a few little jobs here and there and then settled in a book store. She got an apartment in the muggle town she worked in and mostly kept to herself. Her sisters were stars. Both of them wrote to her and told her of all the things they were researching when it came to werewolves. They made her weep with happiness and sadness but they were her strength in the darkness. After graduating, Cora's middle sister got a flat with her and the two moved to a nicer location. After their youngest sister graduated they moved again so they could all live with one another. The three sisters truly as close as ever, OOC Play By: Phoebe Tonkin Your Alias: Coco!
