PERSONALITY Boggart: A broke, powerless, unemployed Sybil is what she sees. It is her greatest fear that she will lose her position and power. Mirror of Erised: Her as Minister for life Patronus: Peacock – The happiest memory would have to be the birth of her grandson, who she see’s as the next future legacy of the Galanis family. Sybil loves her family and her grandson is also her first grandchild and she feels she has a special connection to him as she took care of him most of his life since his mother was young and died in childbirth. His dad was only 17 at the time and nowhere near mature enough to take care of a child. Eventually, Sybil’s oldest son died, leaving her grandson as solely hers now. A sweet and pleasant lady that most people know for her routine walks around town, visiting the local shops, and hosting elegant dinner parties for the community. Most people who know about Sybil see this as a regular basis of how she typically is. Those who know her would tell a similar story but a woman who was shrewd, manipulative, and above all else extremely power hungry. Sybil is all of these things, while she is nice most of the time when crossed she has a fierce temper and an obsession of holding on to grudges forever. The slightest acts of betrayal against Sybil end in her destroying your life, career, everything about you. She demands loyalty and rewards it immensely to those who prove themselves to be loyal to her. As Minister Sybil is a unique politician in some regards by allowing more press access to her than most, and always found to be in public shopping, or talking with people like an everyday person. She presents herself as an open book and welcoming person as she holds dinners for the community in her own home, holds town halls with the public monthly, and above all else, she responds personally to every letter written to her. However; she is a typical one in many regards by being controlling, willing to lie to protect herself, throwing massive fundraisers, and like most power hungry. Sybil is willing to do anything to hold on to her position, from covering things up to throwing people under the bus. She is paranoid about people trying to take power away from her and she has a habit of micro-managing other departments due to her power trips. Her parents were loving parents and taught Sybil how to present herself properly to others, work hard and be rewarded and to never give up. Her mother was a Philanthropist donating the family’s wealth to numerous causes over the years usually helping business first open to help gain favors for later. Her dad was a skilled Healer and was promoted to Head Healer when she was five years old. Growing up as an only child she was spoiled by her parents but also punished if she failed to complete her assigned studies and work that her parents would give her. Sybil became the first of her family to be sorted in Slytherin which caused some shock at home mostly to her dad who was a Hufflepuff. The Sorting Hat taking note of how power hungry an eleven-year-old Sybil has placed her into Slytherin sensing her able to accomplish much. Sybil despite being a proud Slytherin never fully embraced the dark arts, she found them fascinating but also dangerous and in truth scared of them in some regards. At first she rejected her blood made her better than others but eventually, Sybil started to come around to the idea that pure-bloods were better factually because of their blood status being pure and hence more magical at least in Sybil’s mind. Sybil eventually became a Prefect in her fifth year and took much interest in her favorite subjects as in Charms, Astronomy, and Herbology. Many Professors and classmates found her as a natural born leader and also someone who wasn’t afraid to take charge without asking which was a good and bad thing. For her sixth and seventh year, Sybil was elected Class Vice-President and President respectively. She was also made a Head Girl in her last year for Slytherin household given her good grades, leadership record, and no behavior issues. During her sixth year, Sybil fell in love with a fellow Slytherin in the same year Tyson Galanis. Galanis was smart, attractive, and shared her interest in power. Upon graduating in 1945 Sybil found out she was pregnant with Tyson and her first child. They quickly tied the knot before the wedding pledging to be loyal partners to each other forever. By the end of 1945 Griffin Galanis was born, and shortly after his birth, Sybil took a job at the Ministry as an aide to a member of the international confederation of wizards. In 1950 Sybil became a member herself to the ICoF due to the connections she had started to make when first working as an aide. In 1955 she gave birth to a second child this time a girl Yelena. Sybil was promoted in 1957 to Ambassador to the French Ministry of Magic by impressing her superiors with her connections and the ability to negotiate effectively. Both her parents died the next year in an accident that was caused by her father trying out a new healing spell. The spell backfired terribly causing an explosion that killed both him and his wife. In 1960 Sybil eventually got promoted to the Head of Department of International Magical Cooperation, the new position gave her a world stage to network with other magical governments including the muggle British government at times. At this point Sybil started to seriously consider and talking with her husband about making a run for Minister, Tyson was supportive of it. In starting to plan a run Sybil made strides early on in her new position to gain positive headlines, and rack up a debt of favors both in and out of the country from people that she could call in. In 1962 her oldest son Griffin at the age of 17 in a twist of déjà vu confessed to his parents he had a girlfriend who was a squid and was going to give birth soon to their grandson. Sybil was happy and furious, happy at the prospect of a grandchild, furious at being left in the dark and plus who the mother was. Sybil found Griffin’s girlfriend as trash and unworthy of her son at all, she died in childbirth which delighted Sybil in a horrible inhumane way. When her grandson was 3 years old, Griffin who had been a bad father to Alaric, got himself in a duel with someone he shouldn’t have and got himself killed during the duel by a curse sending him off a cliff. In 1974 with more deaths and disappearances caused by Voldemort, a shakeup of the Ministry was caused. The public scared about the threat of Voldemort sacked Minister Eugenia Jenkins seeing her as unable to handle the threat, Harold Minchum a more hard-liner was elected. Minchum quickly promoted Sybil to his second in command as Senior Undersecretary to the Minister seeing Sybil as a stable leader in a time of chaos, loyal and had good connections with other Ministers around the world. However, this would prove a fatal career flaw for Harold and a golden window of opportunity for Sybil. Over the next four years, Sybil was not loyal to Harold at least behind his back she wasn’t. She slowly started to pick off his long-time backers, leaked his failures to the press, and even went so far to plant false stories of him in the press to cause people to lose faith in him. In 1978 she finally delivered the news to him as she announced she was running for Minister. Minchum was furious at her betrayal and vowed to run as well, and in 1978 Sybil won a close election against Minchum vowing to stand up to Voldemort and protect the community. However, Sybil also won by promoting herself as someone who was a proven leader, willing to listen to the people, and able to call on a debt of favors whether it be true or not. Currently, Sybil is consolidating power in the Ministry doing everything she can to make sure unlike her two predecessors she isn’t sacked as well. She is also busy being a Grandmother to her grandson who she has raised herself since she was 3, and now is in his final year at Hogwarts.
