These two would have likely been enemies, and she might have had useful information to be one of the few (possibly the only) person to ever get under his skin. Jesse is a muggleborn student, that right there is enough to spark hatred between these two. He's a year older, would have been a year ahead at Hogwarts, and during his 5th year he met a girl named Alisha who was a Ravenclaw student (his same age/year). She was a muggleborn who's family was killed during the death eater attacks. If Liz had ever seen the girl she would likely have thrown it in her face (I'm just going on a limb) and that would make Jesse hate her even worse. If that wasn't enough, Jesse and Alisha found out that they were expecting a child the summer before their 6th year. And that autumn she was killed in an attack on a muggleborn owned business. Liz probably would have been one of the only people to really know that he and Alisha were even together (but not pregnant). If she said anything to him about Alisha's death it would have drove him mad. That kind of hate doesn't die off...if he saw her now he'd probably want to shove his wand down her throat.

These two were two years apart at Hogwarts and in different houses. She would have likely met Jesse due to the fact that he can't resist flirting with a pretty girl. If she told him that she was with James he would have probably joked that she should leave him, but would have respected it and not flirted with her again. Maybe they could have been friends, both being muggleborns in such a crazy time. It would give them something to bond over.
