PERSONALITY Boggart: the dead bodies of his friends and family Mirror of Erised: Lily and himself, arm in arm surrounded by a family of their own. The war over and won. Patronus: Stag - James has plenty of happy memories with his parents amd friends. But his happiest would be Lily agreeing to marry him. If anyone were to ask, it would be safe to say that James did a lot of growing up throughout the years. While still a prankster at heart, for the most part, James has left his pranking days in the past. It just… doesn’t do anything for him anymore. Where as before he would have jumped at the chance to string people up by their knickers, he’s now more prone to just walk away. But while his tendency to cause trouble may have ceased, his tendency to find trouble remains woefully intact. James still has a tendency to jump to action before actually thinking a plan through. Of course, he’d just give a smirk, shrug (more than likely run his hand through his hair because he’s nervous but he can’t just tell you that), and proceed to tell you he does his best thinking in the heat of action; undoubtedly a milder version of the arrogance he’d been known for back in school. He’s extremely loyal to his friends; having become an illegal Animagus to help support his friend Remus during his monthly werewolf transformations. He’d go to any length to protect those dear to him; regardless of how much danger that puts himself in. His loyalty doesn’t just include running headfirst into danger. In James’ humble opinion, the one thing more frightening than Voldemort and his Death Eaters is anyone crying (especially a female). He’s an eighteen year old male. He doesn’t do crying. But James had long since realized that being a good friend sometimes just meant being there. Once James puts his mind to something, he doesn’t stop. If he thinks he can do something or that he’s right, you best believe he’ll do whatever he can to prove he’s right. It’s a trait that has gotten him into trouble numerous times, but also the one that allowed him to continue with his studies to become an Animagus. HISTORY Mother: Euphemia Potter, 59, Hufflepuff, pureblood. Father: Fleamont Potter, 60, Gryffindor, pureblood. Siblings: None. Partners: Lily Evans, 19, Gryffindor, muggleborn. Others: Sirius Black, 20, Gryffindor, pureblood. Remus Lupin, 19, Gryffindor, werewolf. Peter Pettigrew, 19, Gryffindor. James was born the only child to Fleamont and Euphemia Potter on a chilly March night. As an only child, James was doted on; given the world on a silver platter. He’d merely had to point at whatever it was he’d wanted and he’d been given whatever the item was; throwing tantrums when he was denied. Because of this, his speech wasn’t developed until he was nearly four years old. But while his speech had been impaired, his magical abilities had not been. He’d quickly proved he was no squib. While Euphemia would declare that James conception was magical proof enough (she’d had trouble conceiving before having him), James’ first bout of magic was turning the poor house cat red with blue and green dots at the tender age of one years old. As he grew, he used his magic to help him achieve things he wanted (namely the cookies his mom put out of his reach); a few times he’d even taken his dad’s wand and tried a few spells, of which some worked and others didn’t (like the spell he used to try and change his pumpkin juice into fire-whiskey so he could feed it to the cat). Like most other magical children, James received his Hogwarts letter when he turned eleven years old. As was tradition, James was given the Invisibility cloak that was passed down for generations. He was immediately sorted into Gryffindor house where he made friends with his fellow roommates Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. When they discovered that Remus was a werewolf, James, Sirius and Peter set out to become illegal Animagus; finally achieving the difficult ability in their fifth year and gave birth to the Marauders. They used their new abilities to help control Remus and explore the school and grounds, creating the Marauders Map from their nightly explorations. When not trying to learn how to become an illegal shape-shifter, James spent his time between pulling pranks, getting detention, playing Quidditch, teasing Severus Snape and trying to get a date with Lily Evans. And while most of his activities came easily, he was unable to ever procure a date with the fiery redhead. He was so convinced she hated him that by his seventh year he'd all but given up hope she would date him. They were Head boy and girl, and seemed to be getting on well enough. So when James asked, he'd only slightly been serious; expecting the same respsonse he usually got. Imagine his surprise and excitement when she agreed to go out with him. The two began dating steadily and continued through their last year at Hogwarts. Now out of Hogwarts, James has begun training as an Auror while Lily sought a Healers position. He's just proposed to her, and is looking forward to growing a family with her in the future.
