Others: Various extended family members, one of whom is a Squib that they certainly don't socialise or talk with.

Mirror of Erised: Herself posing with her autobiography. She's at the top of red carpet the trails up a wide golden staircase, camera's are flashing, her hair and make-up are flawless. She craves fame and attention but for her writing, her wit, not because she's some prissy idiot that can put on a show - something any two-knut whore could do.
Patronus: Raven - Rita cannot produce a patronus and her happiest memories all revolve around her getting positive attention.

Rita Vanessa Skeeter is the 9th generation Pureblood Skeeter, but not the only one. Rita's older sister was only 2 years older but the pair were never really close. Rita just didn't take an interest in her sister, Rita would much rather read or write stories than interact with her bland sister "If she was a spice; she'd be flour." Rita didn't even notice when her sister went off to Hogwarts but when it came time for Rita to join the school lot, she was sorted into Slytherin, and thank Merlin. She'd been worried she'd be sorted into Hufflepuff like her bland sister, but no, the Sorting Hat seemed to have far more sense than Rita gave it credit for, then again it was a hat, he expectations had been pretty low.

Hogwarts was eye opening for Rita. There were so many colourful characters to spend her days watching and gossiping about. She soon became the Gossip Queen of Hogwarts, she somehow knew everyone's goings ons. She was small enough to hide away in the tiniest of spaces with her quill and scroll and people absolutely hated her, although they didn't know it was her. Rita put out her own paper. The Hogwarts Herald rubbish did nothing but boast about quidditch, matches, chess champions and boring letters from the Head Girl, Boy and Prefects. It was dull, whereas her scandal sheet did so much more for the crowds and she signed herself as 'Gossip Queen'.

After graduation Rita signed off on her school scandal sheet and signed up with a small newspaper firm that was family run, they weren't anything spectacular but it got Rita into the work she liked. She reported on all the things she hated so that, someday, she could do the thing she loved. She could tell the mid-twenty something son had a thing for her and Rita played on his interests in her to get a little space of her own in every newspaper issue. Well, it didn't take long before the big dogs sat up and paid attention to her. She found a job at Witch Weekly and never looked back, leaving the poor pining newspaper son with nothing more than a signed photo of herself and the memories of a life time.

Rita loved getting all the gossip on some of the more influential people of their time, and with it came some name recognition. She started getting interviews with celebrities here and there and while it was fun to poke around and ask the questions face to face, she missed the sneaky thrill of snooping around their business. Rita was no longer unnoticeable, she was really starting to make a name for herself, and so she decided it was time to hide herself. It took a while but Rita saved the money for a very private and exceptionally discreet tutor and she learnt how to become an animagus. Thankfully her form was even smaller than even she could have hoped for and she could fly! She was an illegal, undistinguishable beetle, and it was perfect!

Recently a position at the Daily Prophet opened up and Rita was asked personally to write a column for the most respected newspaper in the wizarding world, She set her price (which she thought was outrageously high and expected them to negotiate down) and it was accepted! She's started at her new job and she loves it, she happily bosses anyone around and takes advantage of the expense account, and who could blame her?!
