Patronus: No patronus. Becoming a father for the first time. The Vance name was safe. There was a sigh of relief around the room when it was announced that Maya Vance had birthed her husband a son. When the news was announced outside of the room that the Vance name would be continuing, there was a cheer from the gentlemen present. Henry Vance the Third wasn't much of a father. He taught his son the basics of being a man whenever he decided he had the time, but the truth was the family was haemorrhaging money with Henry III's gambling problems. He had three children, two sons and a daughter, and a wife that all depended upon him, yet he gambled away everything, including their home. Eventually the day came when Henry the third was murdered for his debts, and Henry the Fourth became the man of the family. At 16 years old, a fifth year Slytherin Prefect student of Hogwarts, Henry was in charge of his entire family. Mother, brother and sister. His mother worked hard to make ends meet and it became easier once all three of her children were at Hogwarts. Henry vowed to pull their family out of the poverty his father had forced them into. His mother had a collection of jewellery that she had been selling over the years when things got tight, and Henry vowed to return them all to her, no matter what the cost. She was a strong woman, stronger than his father had ever been, and he knew that there was nothing that could stop her fighting spirit for herself and her children. Always a dab hand at Potions, Henry got his first job when he was 16. He started on the Christmas holidays, working at a potions shop in Diagon Alley. He gave all his earnings to his mother, never keeping a single knut for himself. She used it to keep them all afloat while working herself to give them all the memory of a happy Christmas. School was more important than ever and Henry. He studied hard and became Head Boy. Plenty of girls were interested in him and he let off steam with a lot of them. Come graduation Parsley Warrington caught his eye. He wasn't concerned with settling down, his primary focus was making as much money as possible but they got on well. Her family did not approve of him, after all his family had been shamed and they were dirt poor, but he didn't care about their opinions. He worked hard and built up a business of his own, using his intricate knowledge of potions he created his own ... brand. Was it all legal an above board? Well that's not entirely relevant, but what is relevant was the by the age of 21, he'd managed to buy a home for his mother. He was still renting, doing what he had to, but it didn't take long before he had enough money to buy a property of his own. Working hard wasn't exactly what it had taken, but thanks to his expanding empire, he was pulling in the money. At the age of 23 he asked Parsley's father for permission to propose. He had a respectable business (front) that was remarkably lucrative and he proved he was able to provide for Parsley. He got permission and two days later he proposed. Was it love? No, not for him at least, but it was a convenience and he cared for Parsley very much, more than any other woman he'd ever been with. She had been his confidant for years and it was time that their relationship evolved. She was to be his partner in everything, and in return he would give her the best life he could. The happy couple married and their union brought them incredibly close. Parsley was involved in every aspect of his business and to show his trust of his wife, Henry made her a partner. At the age of 25, the couple had the first of their three children. Three daughters to be precise. Enough to bring even the greatest of families shame and rumours, but Henry took it in his stride. The day he became a father was, and still is, the happiest day of his life. Sweet little Cora, so tiny and helpless in the world, it didn't even matter to him that it was a girl and not the son they'd anticipated, but Henry was smitten. He gave Cora anything and everything that she could want. He and Parsley had built a life together and created a small fortune of their own to keep them afloat and to help them through any storm that came their way. They were comfortable. Their empire grew and grew and the girls, oblivious, went off to Hogwarts. Cora got a respectable job in the Ministry, something Henry was unbelievably proud of, and then it happened. His daughter was attacked, bitten by a werewolf. While most bites were fatal, Cora's was not. Henry was torn. Part of him had hoped that Cora would have died from her injuries, but another part of him was relieved she was alive. But she was a werewolf. She would have the ministry breathing down her neck for the rest of her life, and not even he could protect her from that, not with what she now was. Her blood was an abomination and he and Parsley decided it was best to cut her out of the family. They still had two daughters. Emmy and Lottie both renounced their parents for cutting Cora out, but Henry held faith inches heart that his daughters would some day come back to himself and Ley. They had a business to run, they had money to make and appearances to keep up, yet another reason why Cora could not be welcomed back into their family. The hospital where Cora had recovered was not the last that Henry saw of his eldest daughter. She found the courage to reach out and meet with himself and Ley at their home and ask for money. She explained the reason and Henry could barely believe how well she looked. She was a shadow of her former self, but she looked healthy, he was glad to see that. He and Parsley agreed to give Cora a small amount each month to help provide her with a potion to help ease her monthly transitions. It killed Henry not to embrace his daughter but he couldn't let her back in again, not after all the strength it took to shut her out. While Henry might seem like a cold and callous father to his daughters, he funds research into finding a potion to hopefully rid the world of all werewolves, to return people like Cora to their natural, human state. He also has a side quest of finding the monster that did this to his daughter. He wants to hunt, trap and kill the monster himself, but it's near impossible to know just who exactly turned his daughter, but he will find out, and he will kill them. There will be no mercy.
