Patronus: Wolf - It may not seem as though there's much for Zora to find joy in, but actually all the paranoia of adult life makes her realise just how amazing her years at Durmstrang were, and her incredible memories from back then are what help her produce her patronus. The darkness of life only makes the memories shine brighter. Bulgaria will always be home to Zora Krum, it's a country she wishes to help protect, but sometimes life doesn't go the way you want. Zora was the second child, a first daughter of Malyna and Dragan Krum, with one older brother, and two younger sisters. Born and raised in the rich upper-class of the pureblooded society of Bulgaria, Zora was raised to be wed, to give honour to her family by marrying well and giving a son to her husband, but that was not what she wanted, not at all. Zora was whisked away to Durmstrang the day she turned twelve as her birthday was at the very beginning of the school year. She studied hard, valuing her education and getting top grades. She wanted to be someone when she graduated, she focused hard to get a career in her ministry, her sights set on becoming an auror. She wanted a meaningful job because she wanted to make a strong difference in the world, she wanted to give her honour to her country, not her family. She played quidditch while at Durmstrang, taking the nimble position of seeker for her house team. She was in her school duelling club and she joined the chess club, too. She was never a captain, but she partook in multiple clubs while maintaining perfect grades. "Active" would have been an understatement. After graduation Zora returned to the family home. She talked of her plans to join the ministry but she was shot down by her father. He would not have his daughter working, it would be an insult to him, it would give other families in their circle to believe he was not earning well enough to keep his family afloat, or they would think his wage needed supplementing due to a gambling addiction. There was no way that Dragan would allow his peers to think of him as anything less than a man, and such dishonour would certainly have them thinking untoward thoughts and so her father took her wand. Zora pouted but it did no good. She was not allowed to leave home without her mother, aunt, father or brother. She was a prisoner and no amount of protesting changed anything. She tried to get her wand back but her father moved it to his study where she had no hope of retrieving it, not without a plan. Eventually the time came when her father introduced her to that man that would be her husband. Stanko Rankovski was the eldest son of a well known, pureblood, exceedingly wealthy pureblood family with lines going back thousands of years. He was seemingly nice, a bit of a brute, a little dim, and more than a little overweight. He was not physically what Zora would ever find attractive but her father did not care, according to him it was a prime match and the wedding would be going ahead, despite Zora's clear and vocal objections. The wedding came around but Zora was nowhere to be found, she took the opportunity in all the fuss and pompous of the day to sneak into her fathers study and steal her wand back. She had known where it was for quite a while but she was waiting for the ideal moment to get to it. She had pocketed a helps wand and on her wedding day, sabotaged her carriage, the cake, the floral arrangement and two of the bridesmaids dresses so that anyone that was supposed to be keeping an eye on her wouldn't have the opportunity to. She was 19 and finally free just a month before her 20th birthday, Zora was gone. She didn't leave a trace behind. She bounced from location to location, never stopping longer than five hours before carrying on to the next location. She was like a ghost for almost a whole year. She was out of Europe in the first week, heading east she kept going until eventually she was in China. From there she went south, spending time in Malaysia. It took her a while but she picked up the language, figuring her family would never look for her there. She spent three years there, the longest she spent anywhere so far having been on the move so much, only settling down gradually. She worked in a hotel that catered for European tourists, mostly Brits. She picked up quite a few languages. She already had a handle on quite a few, but it was quite amazing working in such place. When she was 24 she moved on, travelling back through Europe and setting out some feelers to see what her family were up to. She heard that her brother was now a father and Iliya was set to marry. She was 21 and always had been the perfect daughter growing up, something Zora would never, could never be, it also meant that Mirella wasn't far off graduating Durmstrang. Zora contemplated sending her sisters letters but she decided to err on the side of caution, she didn't want to risk her father finding her. She'd brought shame to her family and Zora wouldn't put it past her father to kill her. Having been gone for four years she wasn't going to let her father get wind of where she was and so she headed west, ending up in the UK. She worked in Hogsmeade at a couple of bars, staying in one of the rooms at the Hogs Head for cheap. She was there for a year until she moved further south, heading London-way. She got a job at the Avalon Hotel at the front desk and quickly became the front desk manager. She contemplated applying to become an auror, sure it wasn't her own country, but the UK felt as though it could be a permanent place to call home and it was in some serious need of saving, but would she be putting herself at risk of being found? Her father despised the British, but would he know a few families? Would he have feelers in the UK just waiting for her to show her face? Well she'd already been about for a while so maybe it would be worth it. She has the interview lined up for the beginning of July, if she gets accepted then she starts training later that month, but would it be the right thing to do? Zora really wants to go for it but her sense of self preservation is really holding her back. OOC Play By: Eliza Dushku Your Alias: Coco! Pronouns: Her/she Him/he etc. Age: Young at heart!
