A grand library in the heart of London stood empty on the blustery autumn evening. Cries of a woman could be heard from inside, but nobody paused as they passed, they hurried on home to their muggle lives, not even aware that the library was there, and Ellen Whitmore gave birth to her first child alone. Her "husband", a man named William who was no man at all, but a vampire, owned the library, and it was somewhat of a sanctuary for Ellen. It had been standing for hundreds of years, an ancient building full of history and knowledge, almost as old as William himself. Though William was absent, as he often was. He had gone travelling, promising Ellen the world, and bestowing nothing but a swollen belly on her thus far. But she loved him. Or perhaps she just thought she did. She had never researched vampires before, she had no idea that they were capable of compelling humans to do as they pleased. She had no idea that she was a means to an end for William. He wanted offspring, and she was the chosen vessel.

Little Elijah was a quiet baby, he was good and clever, and did as he was told. He loved to sing and dance, and he would delight Ellen with performances in their living room, and often he would be the one to sing her to sleep at night. He never once wondered why he didn't have a father, or so Ellen thought. Really, Elijah knew more than he let on. He had learned to read at an early age, and by the time he was five, his mother was pregnant again. She had told Elijah it was a "miraculous conception" a miracle baby, and he was amazed that God had put a little seed in his mother's tummy so that he could have a sibling. How odd and fascinating! Ellen kept a diary throughout her pregnancy, and Elijah found it one night when he crept into her room, unable to sleep. He scanned through the first pages and then found entries about a man named William. The diary referred to this man as Elijah's father, and after hours of reading in the dark, every odd thing Elijah had ever noticed about himself suddenly made sense.

He was half vampire. Whoa. His younger brother was also a half vampire, and so was the sister that followed, though she was born when Elijah was off at Hogwarts, so he never got to know her as well as he would have liked. He grew up with a sense of unfairness. His mother told him he was a pureblooded wizard, and he was sorted into Slytherin, like all of her family was. But what about his father? Well, she would avoid those types of questions, and she seemed relieved when Elijah went off to Hogwarts and couldn't ask her as much as usual. Elijah resented her for this. He explored his vampiric nature, strength, speed, healing. It was incredible, and he found himself impressing his peers as Slytherin Seeker from his third year, using his enhanced senses to aid the team. Yes, it was naughty, but it was also highly intelligent and his team were one of the best in a long while because of it. Elijah sang in the Frog Choir and participated in Duelling Club until Dumbledore put a stop to it after he got a bit overzealous and landed a boy in the hospital wing for a week.

Elijah was smart and ambitious, he charmed his professors and flew under the radar when it mattered. He had good friends, and he was a hit with the girls at the castle, especially during parties when he would dance them into a frenzy. There were rumours that his mother's family had Veela blood somewhere down the line, but Elijah didn't need it, he was able to flirt any girl out of her clothes, and frequently did. He always had it in the back of his mind that his father would find him one day and maybe turn him into a full vampire. The idea wasn't that far fetched, he enjoyed the power he had, why wouldn't he want more of that? He supposed he would miss the sun, but that was hardly a big deal. After graduation, his mother gave him the deeds to his favourite place on earth, The Whitmore Arcanium. The family library. One of the largest magical libraries in the country, he had practically lived there as a small boy, and the magic contained in those books was immense. He threw himself into more learning after graduation, and really enjoys running the library. He joined The Dark Lord's ranks not long ago, recruited for his... talents, and dedicated because he honestly hopes that it will afford his family some sort of protection in this war. Naive, maybe, but Elijah is smart enough to look out for himself, and his siblings if necessary.
