My dad is a professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and my maman is a Transfiguration professor at Beauxbatons. I suppose you probably think it’s likely that I’m some kind of smarty like my parents, and I kind of am, but not really. See, I take after my mum when it comes to Transfiguration. Not to toot my own horn, or anything, but I’m pretty incredible at it. I can turn a house into a mouse in the blink of an eye, but that’s about the end of my talents. See, I’m okay with Charms, because it’s like a pretty simplified form of Transfiguration, which is great, it’s like a little hobby for me, but practical things like potions, Herbology, or care of magical creatures are just too much for me. I get clumsy, accidents happen, and things are a mess. I space out. Anything that takes a lot of time to do isn’t going to work for me, my mind is sharp but only for short bursts. I’m like a sprinter rather than a marathon runner person, you get what I’m saying. So what was life like with two parents with essentially the same jobs (just different subjects)but in different countries? It was tough. My younger years were great, I have a lot of happy memories of maman and dad, the three of us being a family, but then they started getting on less and less. Eventually they split up and with me in Beauxbatons and dad not really speaking too much French, he returned to Britain. It was kind of hard being away from him, I mean I would have been away from him anyway, but knowing he wasn’t even in the same country made it pretty hard. I had maman about so I guess that was at least something. I love my maman, I do, but she’s always been kind of strict, she’s always had these expectations. She comes from a family of wealth so she was kind of looked down upon for marrying a poor man. After she and dad split she started dating a guy my grandparents introduced her to. They seemed to like one another and they eventually got married. I was a bridesmaid and I had fun, but I really missed dad. Dad used to come to France ever summer and Christmas to spend time with me. He had a little cabin that we would go to and I have the absolute best memories there. There was a lake we’d swim in, there was a bit of sand I could sunbathe on, we’d play games and often head to the nearby village for supplies, or just for something nice to do together. There was plenty of hiking and exploring to do and I’m pretty sure I know my way around that area perfectly now. Last June, 1980 for those keeping track later on, I graduated from Beauxbatons. I had a little party with my friends and family and then dropped the bombshell that I was moving to Scotland to be closer to dad. My maman wasn’t very happy. Actually, she was pissed, but it didn’t matter, I’d made my mind up. I had a little sister I wanted to meet and help look after, and dad’s girlfriend had a daughter of her own that was my age, so what could it hurt to get to know them all a little better, we’r family now, you know? Yeah, you know. So I left the next day, maman looking as though she’d eaten the most sour lemons imaginable, but my mind was made up. I left and moved to Scotland. Holy crap! Are you people aware of how cold it is in Scotland!? Even in June! I was shocked, I thought I’d just hit some cold weather, but nope, apparently it was always that cold in Scotland. After the summer I spent some time looking for a place to live. I moved down to the south west because it’s warmer, but not by much, still, I’ll take those extra few warm days over the freezing cold of Hogwarts. I had kind of hoped that I’d be able to maybe get a job at Hogwarts, maybe as a Transfiguration assistant, but the idea was fast gone from my mind when I realised there was no way I’d be able to survive a Scottish winter. I go up and visit my dad and little Susie. I like Hazel, dad’s girlfriend, very much. She’s such a positive person and really welcoming, I feel like part of the family around her. I haven’t yet had a chance to really get to know Sophie, she seems a little shy but I’m sure it’s just because she’s focusing on her final year of Hogwarts. Either way, she seems nice and she’s a cool big sister to Susie. And of course, Susie. She is the cutest little thing! I’ve no idea how to be around babies, or toddlers, but I’ll learn for her. Right now life is pretty nice. I visit maman frequently and I’m thinking of getting a job in the Ministry of Magic. Right now I’m working in a muggle bookstore, and it’s lovely, there’s another witch there who’s super friendly and has introduced me to her sisters so I can make a few friends, and yeah, that’s about all for now! Thank for listening to my life story and we’ll catch up again soon. - R xx OOC Play By: Sarah Hyland Your Alias: Coco! Pronouns: Her/she Him/he etc. Age: Legal. Other Characters: Not legal.
