PERSONALITY Boggart: Lord Voldemort appears in front of her. Mirror of Erised: Herself young again, taking a different path in life. Each time she looks she's taking a different path. Marrying her muggle lover, having a family. Travelling the world. etc. Patronus: Cat, obviously. Her happiest memory is bitter sweet. When Dougal McGregor proposed and she said yes. Minerva McGonagall isn't always the most certain of people but you would never know it. When you're dealing with her she's full of confidence and it's easy to believe that she does indeed know everything there is to possibly know about anything in the entirety of the universe. She's a little short with people and she cannot tolerate buffoonery. Idiots are not a problem if they're trying, but should they be trying to mess things up then Minnie will gladly put them in their place. She won't show her pleasure in doing so, but it's certainly lurking beneath the surface. That's not to say she's evil or uncaring, she's not, she's actually rather motherly, but she has a tough love way of dealing with her students because she believes that every single one that comes through her classroom is, on some level, her responsibility. More so for those in her own house of Gryffindor. She knows that not every student will be perfect but she wants to give them the confidence and the know-how to survive after Hogwarts. These days she believes the students need it - and her - more than ever. Minnie has always been a perceptive individual. From a young age she was able to pick up on body language in particular. She could often tell when her mother and father had had disagreements and part of her always wanted to help resolve things. She was a peacekeeper but by no means was she soft about it. She was much like her father, quite forward, and occasionally even blunt, but with a kind heart. She was organised and well mannered and often tried to keep her younger brothers in line. She's never been one to love in a romantic way. She held feelings for a farmers son and they became engaged, but being from two different worlds Minnie realised she'd been swept up in the moment and shouldn't have accepted his proposal. Without being able to tell him why, she had to break up with him, something that tore at her strong sense of loyalty. Minnie never loved again, although many men did try to win her heart but she held no interest. She had a couple of small relationships over the years, but they were more for a little companionship, never a long-term situation. HISTORY Mother: Isobel McGonagall, nee Ross, former Gryffindor, pureblood. Father: Robert "Bob" McGonagall sr., muggle. Siblings: Malcolm McGonagall, brother, former Gryffindor, half-blood. Robert "Robbie" McGonagall jr., brother, former Gryffindor, half-blood. Partners: None currently. Formerly Dougal McGregor, muggle, previously engaged. Others: Various nieces and nephews and in-laws Minerva Ross McGonagall was the first born child of a witch and a muggle. She was given her mothers maiden name as a middle name and it's something she's always loved. From the pureblood Ross family to the muggle McGonagall family, she was a rare piece of two worlds that didn't often mix. Despite her father being aware of magic, Minnie's mum rarely used it and it broke Minnie's heart to see her mum give up who she was. She vowed that she herself would never do that for a man. Minnie enjoyed her childhood for the most part. She became a big sisters twice but only had brothers. She would have liked a younger sister but it didn't bother her too much. She loved her brothers and as they grew older, she found she got on with them quite well. Her Hogwarts days couldn't come fast enough. Minnie was eager to start school. Her mother dropped her to Kings Cross, despite Minnie claiming it ridiculous. They lived far closer to Hogsmeade, she could have been dropped at Hogsmeade, but her mother insisted she have the proper experience, for her first year at least. Minnie later confessed to her mother in her first letter home that she had loved the Hogwarts Express ride up to Hogsmeade. It had been long but she made a few new friends. She'd thoroughly made the most of her journey and she made the most of her first night at Hogwarts, being a hat stall, being sorted into Gryffindor and elbowing an annoying twit in the nose. Her first night there and she had already gain a reputation. School was so easy - and mostly fun - for Minnie. She was perfect at nearly everything she did but there was nothing she loved more than Quidditch. She was brilliant, a star. She was destined to be one of the next big players of the national Quidditch leagues right up until she was injured in a match. One nasty, vicious Slytherin hurt her badly and she ended up in the Hospital wing. It wasn't just a broken bone that could be fixed in a jiffy, it mentally took its toll on Minnie. She stopped playing, never picking up a broom again, but damn didn't she just love watching Slytherin getting their arses handed to them. Graduating at the top of her year level, Minnie had already been offered a job at the Ministry of magic in its Auror department. She'd already studied for two years while she was at Hogwarts and then did her third year after she was out. She was remarkable, she was brilliant. Minerva McGonagall was the name on everyone's lips to watch out for and then, she was gone. Minnie didn't like the life at the Ministry. She decided she didn't want to be an Auror and instead chose to pursue a career in teaching. She became the Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts and has never looked back on the decision. She has never been married but she came close. She fell in love with a muggle man but she called everything off when she realised she was walking the same path as her mother had done. She didn't want to have to hide her magic from her love, she didn't want to have to make him feel comfortable by being someone that she simply wasn't. In the end it was for the best - or so Minerva tells herself - the man she had once loved moved on and fell in love again, this time with a muggle woman. They had children and Minnie was happy for them, for him. It was the life he deserved. She stuck to teaching, pursued by many eligible men she's never been tempted. Now, still a teacher, still single, still badass, Minnie is Head of Gryffindor as well as Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. It was no surprise to her at all when she was asked to fill either role, but then again, she always was rather intuitive and she still loves watching Slytherin get their arses kicked in a good game of Quidditch.
