You are perfection, my only direction
it's fire on fire
Elena was nervous, though it didn't show. She had seen Corban Yaxley at countless parties and events, been friends with his younger brother since school, and was even practically babysat by him - along with her group of friends - at said events when the grownups wanted the younger kids out of their hair. Yet in all that time, even when she'd watched his eyes twinkling under the chandeliers, she had never imagined she would one day be married to him. She had fancied him for quite a while, but in a silly schoolgirl way, and she had thought he would be married off as soon as possible, because, well... you only had to look at him to understand. He was absolutely gorgeous, with dark hair and sparkling blue eyes. And to top it all off, he was the heir of a Sacred Twenty-eight family. An absolute catch if ever there was one, and though it had been about six weeks since her parents had told her she would be marrying him, it still hadn't sunk in properly.
They had met up properly for the first time once the news had been broken, and it had been awkward. A meeting purely to say "Oh, hello, I'm going to be your wife even though we don't really know one another" was not the most comfortable of situations, but they had done it, as had many a pureblood witch and wizard before them. Arranged marriages were common place in their world, it was rare to find a couple these days that had married for love. Lilith, Elena's best friend, was doing wonderfully with Rabastan Lestrange, and so Elena had high hopes for her own marriage. Corban was certainly someone she was happy to be paired up with in any capacity. They had arranged to meet up for lunch to talk about their engagement, and Elena hoped to get started on planning a party to celebrate, and maybe even getting wedding conversations flowing. It was going to happen, they might as well start talking about it. She had taken a few hours off work, leaving her dance school in the hands of trusted colleagues. Saturdays were usually packed with classes, but she could spare a few hours for her new fiance.
The Ambrosia lounge was classy enough for Elena's standards, and she glanced at the clock on the wall as she entered, giving the host a bright smile as he greeted her at the door. "I'm meeting someone," she told the man, who was balding, though he only looked to be in his thirties. Poor soul. "Yaxley," she added, blue eyes flitting over the list of reservations he had in front of him. His finger trailed along the list until he found the name, and he nodded, leading her through the restaurant to a more private section, where her gaze fell upon Corban, sitting there like a statue of an angel, just beautiful, surrounded by peasants. Her smile grew as she approached their table, and the host gave a little bow and left them to it. "Corban," she beamed, unable to keep the image of how stunning their children would be from popping into her head. Oh, how their eyes would sparkle like the bluest sapphires! Tiny butterflies fluttered inside her chest, but on the surface, she was nothing but cool and calm.
