❝ We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark ❞
Turning the bike to the right as the light turned green, Sirius Black reared his motorcycle up the street missing a car that turned besides him by a few feet. While relatively a new acquisition, Sirius learned how to ride it though he didn’t appreciate much how other drove. He didn’t have a license though but he knew the rules, and he also knew that the muggle car had been taking over his lane, without permission or even signaling its intent. Far from getting pissed at trivialities he just roared the engine punching the engine on its rear wheel and passed by the car with little effort, which only further frustrating the rather large man who sat behind the wheel, fist raised and muffle words and all.
While he did consider taking his license, it was a bore. He studied the legislation, knew the traffic rules and such, but he didn’t have the time, better said, he didn’t have the appropriate inclination to take the classes and pass the test. Besides, the bike could fly if you pushed the right button, and there weren’t any air traffic cops that could fine him … or were there? It had taken him a few scratched thighs and elbows to learn how to ride it, and several days to apply the charms to it. The fields of Godric’s Hollow had been his training lot and several chicken suffered some trauma from the sound, but other than that and his badly grazed knees, no one was hurt.
Veering to the right he stopped the engine rather abruptly as he reached the place. The lights wouldn’t draw your attention, aside from the street lamp having none, nor did the sign of the establishment as there wasn’t any, most people just walked past it without even glancing in its direction, but Sirius parked the bike and waited. The Ministry, while muggles had no idea of its existence, was beneath his feet and James was bound to come out at any given moment.
It wasn’t easy to find a place to turn his bike to regular form as it wasn’t particularly approved by said ministry and while it wasn’t exactly necessary for him to get to the Ministry by bike, nor was the weather the best for bike rides as there were patches of frost on the road, Sirius couldn’t help himself. That morning came with a clear and sunny sky and it brought about a feel of spring, in mid January. That was until you walked out, but the brisk didn’t stop him either. It was dark now, and colder, the leather jacket at home and sporting a coat that didn’t really matched the raging machine he was straddling. Sirius didn’t even mind the winter air that threatened with snow or the looks that muggles gave him for riding a motorcycle in winter. Sirius just loved the fact that he had a motorcycle to ride.

❝ Though we don't share the same blood You're my brother and I love you, that's the truth❞
It had been a long day at work. James knew what was expected of him, but still; sitting at a desk and going through training was too much like school work for him. Yes, he knew Auror Training had required three more additional years of schooling… but he figured that some of that so called ‘schooling’ would have been more hands on. He did NOT have the patients to sit through lectures. It was why he’d always been in trouble in Hogwarts. Sure, there had been his pranking that he’d done. But he’d done that because he was bored. And somehow, he knew his Auror instructors wouldn’t be as forgiving as his Hogwarts Professors had been.
So he made himself sit still in his class; his leg bouncing every now and then the only indicator of his restlessness. And the fidgeting in his seat every ten minutes or so. Alright, so he hadn’t been able to sit still. He was an active bloke! He’d been on the Quidditch team, and running around causing problems and had STILL managed to get all his assignments in and his grades up. He was a multi-tasker!
So when the instructor had excused them for the day, it didn’t take long for James to literally shove everything he had into his back (okay, it was more like he swept everything up in one movement) and was quickly out the door. He’d stopped in the Atrium to grab a quick pastry to eat; having eaten all his food earlier in the day. He was still a growing boy! He needed to snack on things here and there. And then, it was time to wait in the queue to head out onto the streets of Muggle London. Walking out into the crowded streets, he pulled his jacket closer to him. It was easy to forget that the Ministry was underground. Of course, he’d taken the Floo in this morning, so he really hadn’t had to step outside at all.
But reaching the outside… Merlin’s beard! He was thinking about just saying screw the Stature of Secrecy and just Apparating on the spot home. That was, until he saw a familiar figure on a bike. Grinning like a little school boy, James quickly made his way over to Sirius; shrinking his bag with a wave of his wand and shoving it into his pocket. “So you got it up and running, did you? How’s she ride?”

❝We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark ❞
As he waited, the wind seemed to pick up on speed and the chill was getting to him. While still wearing a rather warm coat, it wasn’t particularly stuffy as he needed room to move while straddling the motorcycle, but it wasn’t a leather jacket so it could have been much worse if some sense wouldn’t have struck him before he left his loft. A shiver passed him as he looked at his wrist watch. A present from Mrs. Potter. At seventeen it’s a gift any young man should expect – she said to him.
Prongs was taking his time. It might suit his mate just fine if he doesn’t hurry up to jump the line or make sure he gets out before there even is a line to jump, but he was the one shivering not James. Careful not to be noticed, Sirius cast a warming charm on himself and enjoyed the warmth from the next second. Living like a muggle most of the times did make him less aware of the abilities magic could offer for comfort. Ever since he had lived on his own, Sirius got somewhat detached from the wizarding world. Hockney wasn’t anywhere near anything magical and he liked it because of it. While several flat had been available for rent in a more central side of London, central also meant near King’s Cross, near King’s Cross meant near Grimmauld Place, that in itself was reason enough for him to not search or really consider a flat there.
The tosser finally showed up. ”Oh deer mother of Merlin, been stagnant for so long people might think I’m up to no good.” he said punctuating just the words that needed underlining. ”Get your antlers on it and see for yourself how it purrs … before people get the wrong impression, doe I’m not particularly fawning over the weather either.” some muggles did turn their head as he wasn’t particularly a quite person, but while working together, no one got their conversation or manner of speaking. It wasn’t as common to call a mate “dear” or use words like “fawning”, but little did they care. While they couldn’t prank and strike fun during training or Order business, they found a way to make sure at least they lighten up every now and again.
No plans had been made and the only thing he wanted was for the two of them to do something fun. Be it take the motorcycle up to the skies so that James would know how it runs, or end up in a pub somewhere to score some lass, it mattered little to Sirius as long as they could have fun and enjoy a casual night out. A boys night out, if that didn’t sound weird. ”Stag night tonight. Right?” the question was there only for courtesy. In truth, he missed hanging out only with James. While he needed to move out, to be on his own, he missed spending time with his best friend after having lived together, ate at the same table and slept a corridor away from each other. Sirius now had the loft that he wanted, spacious and filled with light, while reminding him of Hogwarts, but while by himself there, it felt eerie in a way, too much space for only him.

❝ Though we don't share the same blood You're my brother and I love you, that's the truth❞
He placed his hand over his heart. “Oh you paw thing.” James rolled his eyes at his friends complaint. When you lived with Sirius for years, you had to learn how to field the dramatics. “Padfoot, you’re always up to no good. Besides, barking dogs seldom bite.” It wouldn’t take much for anyone to think about that. Sirius had an air of trouble around him; of mischief. Of course, the same could be said about him. There was a reason why the two of them had gotten along so great when they’d first met. Granted, James was starting to mature enough and put a lid on his trouble making, reeling it in a bit.
But it was always free game when the two of them got together.
At the amount of deer jokes, James just rolled his eyes. “Don’t make me get the newspaper, Fleabag.” Regardless of the warning tone, there was a twinkle in his eyes as he looked the majestic machine over. He quickly scanned what he had going on after work. Nothing as far as he knew. As far as he knew, Lily was working tonight, and they weren’t scheduled to meet up.
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t get your leash in a twist.” He didn’t bother to answer Sirius; instead, just throwing his leg over the machine and sitting behind his friend. “Alright, show me how she purrs.” He missed hanging out with Sirius. It seemed all he did now a days was work, plan for the wedding, and Order business. Hardly any time for him and Sirius to just be… well, him and Sirius. He missed it. Missed the antics they used to always get into. Even their last year at Hogwarts had been tame; what with James busy as Quidditch Captain and Head Boy.
“Do we need muggle money?” He was still trying to figure that out. Merlin help him if he needed to do so while drunk.
